This book is an allegory for healthy eating. I have read the whole series now (except for the last book that hasn’t been released), and I did feel this one was the heaviest with pushing the healthy eating, and it even came with a “disclaimer” at the end discussing the reasoning behind the allegory. I think kids would enjoy the story more if the agenda wasn’t so obvious, but my kids haven’t started reading it yet, so I could be wrong (I will be updating my reviews after my children have read them). This did not deter me from wanting to read the rest of the series though, and I’m glad I did because the adventures got even greater as the books progressed.

I think a chart of some sort explaining the different types of creatures and the realms or lands they come from would be helpful. There were a few characters that are woven throughout the different books, and it would be nice to not have to flip back to the other books to remember where that character came into play and how they fit in chronologically to the full storyline. Also, I’m more of a visual learner, so having a sketch of the characters (besides the one on the book cover) would be nice, too.

I liked that this book had a strong female lead character (even though she had some weaker moments) who was able to save her kingdom in a peaceful way...it is a shame her father couldn’t have figured it out before he was killed...but that would have changed the whole plot of the story!

A fun read

This is a well written story about a princess who must save her people from a life of slavery. She starts out as naive and frightened. She grows through the story to become a brave and discerning person. The book teaches about the value of eating healthy foods that nourish the body but isn’t overbearing. I think that both boys and girls would enjoy the book and benefit from the lessons it teaches.

Wandering around the realms!

Princess Zia is a brave heroine that goes on a journey to save her people. When she starts off she seems gullible and unaware of the darkness that is around her. Eventually she learns from her mistakes and matures enough to save her people from slavery!
This is a great and fairly easy read. I will be re-reading this to my daughter as it has a great message!!!

Adventure in the Realms!

This was a fun, fast paced introduction to the world of Princess Zia. She goes from being a naive girl to a strong leader who learns from her mistakes. I really enjoyed the characters and how Zia strives to find the best in everyone. Plus the recipes in the back look amazing! I look forward to the next adventure.

Great stories!

I love these stories! There are so many truths to the underlying story. We have been encouraged to live out life in "convience" but I'm reality it is not. We have not made time or have forgotten how to make our own food. We eat way too much sugar in a regular basis. These books out it into better perspective all to think about! Great job writer!

Great story!

This is a great allegory for the care and health of our lands and our own bodies. But the fictional story stands on its own as a fascinating story! Highly recommend.
