I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I was so intrigued by the blurb.
And when I started it felt like a darker PNR and I was ready. But then… it just became kind of meh. There was instalust and instalove and I could not for the life of me understand why this couple connected so quickly. Their chemistry felt superficial and almost too easy for the circumstances they found themselves in. At about 60% in when stuff started to happen and the hero realizes who is after the heroine I was past the point of really caring, so I skimmed to the end. I wasn’t emotionally invested in the characters, plot, or romance. I seem to be the odd man out though, because this book has some awesome ratings on Goodreads.

But that all goes to hell the night Kohl sees Devon dancing alone at The Caves. Her tawny skin begs for his touch, and her sweet scent ignites a blood lust he can’t control.
Devon Young never thought she would find herself on the witness stand of a notorious court case concerning her employer, Parasupe—a company created by the government to regulate supernatural creatures. Her testimony puts her boss in jail and makes Devon the target of malicious internet bullying. Forced to put that life behind her, she gives up her high paying job and relocates, determined to stay under the radar. Until the night she meets a sexy bartender whose tattooed appearance is in direct contrast to the sweet warmth of his brown eyes. The attraction is immediate and intense, and his hungry touch kindles a fire in her she thought was long dead.
Bringing Devon into his world will expose his coven, and put Devon in even more danger. If the beast inside of him doesn’t kill her, the coven master will.

My list of 5-star paranormal romance authors is super short, sadly. I love paranormal romance, but I’ve found that so many plots and characters have been overused so much that all my PNR reads tend to blend together after a while. Thankfully, that never happens with LE Wilson. Her plots and characters are so unique and fresh that she somehow always manages to stand out in a really, really, really big crowd of books. (Did I say it’s a REALLY big crowd of books? ‘Cause it is.)
So, this is a series starter. It has all the backstory you’ll need about the “world”. And Kohl, our hero, is a super-sexy half dragon and half vampire. (Pretty cool, right? I thought so.) And anytime a dragon can be added to a story, I say the author should go for it. Amirite?
Devon, the heroine, is pretty awesome, too. I love that she’s a tech nerd, who also just happens to be a beautiful person of color. And y’all know how much I love diversity in romance.
I can’t really say too much about the plot without giving away too much, so I’ll just leave it at this: it’s original. No surprise there.
All the mechanics (you know, the boring stuff) of the writing are good, too. No glaring errors, no giant plot holes, no weird dialogue, no glacial pacing. Grammar Nazis can read this one with confidence.
So, long-story-short this is a fun series starter that is a nice balance of sex, action, and original world-building. 2 thumbs up!

Oh Kohl, Kohl, Kohl... Seriously guys Kohl. He is one of my all time favorite alpha males. He has a sweet side but he still an alpha male. He is a dragon and a vampire. He is the perfect mix of hard and soft. I mean Devon is cool too but Kohl.
If you haven't picked up a L.E. Wilson book (well shame on you because they are all fantastic) then this one is a great one to start with! She does such a great job at writing the ultimate dominate males and sassy females that put up with them. I have read all of her books and I think Kohl may be my favorite of her men... oh wait Brock! ohhhh Dante! Kohl! OMG. No Kohl is my favorite.. at least right now he is.
I think I will just say Kohl 500 more times and dream of him. byeeeee.

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of this book, and I have to say, I loved it! With this author, after every book of hers I read, I think, "Well, it'll never get better than THAT." Then she proves me wrong. It's a rare paranormal romance author who can manage to come up with plots that are truly unique, and LE Wilson is rare indeed. Her books are never cliche, never boring. This is a great series starter for both urban fantasy and PNR fans because the balance of sexy times and action is PERFECT. I honestly can't wait to see what comes next in this series. (And on a totally shallow note, this cover is HOT HOT HOT!!!) Buy it, devour it, love it. You won't regret it!

Kohl isn't just a vampire. There's a beast that resides within him that he ruthlessly keeps contained. Devon is trying to escape her notoriety. She was a skilled hacker who discovered the company she worked for was capturing, torturing and killing paranormals. She went public and took them to court but all it did was make her infamous. One night she's dancing in the club owned by the vampires. Kohl is bartending but can't take his eyes off her. Suddenly gunfire breaks out and Kohl rushes to protect Devon. As the story unfolds Devon's life is in danger which breaks out the beast within Kohl. The storyline is excellent.

I absolutely loved this book! It has a lot of twists and turns, I couldn't put it down once I started. At first I wondered how a half vampire half dragon would work as a lead, but Kohl is amazing. You really love him by the end of the book. Both lead characters are amazing as well as a few of the minor characters. You will love this book as well if you are any kind of fan of paranormal romances! If you get it you won't be sorry!

Can I just say AWESOME!!!! Suspenseful, romantic, playful, really pulls you in! Kohl is so real, I found myself wanting to visit Texas just to see if I could get a glimpse!
The story line was easy to follow yet, filled with just enough suspense (and romance of course) to keep you reading. I read it all in one day (on my vacation), never putting it down until i was finished.
Kohl and Devon are perfect together and I can't wait for the next book !

Must read for paranormal fans
5 star must read! This is the first book by L.E. Wilson I have had the pleasure to read and it will not be th last. Wow! A unique twist with Kohl being a vampire/dragon hybid. As he stuggles leaning to be himelf a spunky human shows him what he can truly be. Devon is smart, funny and strong enough for both of them. I really am looking forward to more in this series.

This is a fantastic and well written book. An intense story line that holds your attention as you get caught up in the fierce twists and hot chemistry. Lots of excitement.

This is a fantastic beginning to a new series and I can’t wait to read more from this author. Devon sent her employer Parasupe to jail the company that was created by the government for what they were doing to the supernaturals, the trial was broadcasted to the public and Devon was ridiculed and bullied so she moves away. Kohl is half vampire half dragon a hybrid he is taken in by a coven of vampires he works as a bartender in a bar owned by the coven, Kohl meets Devon at the bar one night he can’t take his eyes off her but there is danger and Devon’s mind is wiped but she ends up coming back and that’s enough for Kohl to pursue her but will Devon survive?. Fantastic story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

This story was really good. Devon was the kind of woman I would want to be friends with. She has a great game on life and and all forms of life. She has had a bad outcome from doing what was right, and there is a lot of mystery surrounding what is going on in the whole story. Which I found refreshing, not knowing right away who was really doing all the bad things. And Kohl! Hot man! He is kind, sweet, has his own mystery that slowly unravels. He protects Devon with a passion! The only thing that I found needed improvement were the intimate scenes. They just were missing a deeper connection and just needed more.

I couldn't stop reading this book!!! It is such an awesome read that I couldn't put it down. The characters and story are off the charts amazing. I loved Kohl and Devon and watching them evolve into a couple.There's plenty of action, drama, suspense, twists, turns, steam, vampire/dragon, hot alpha male and a hot and steamy romance you don't want to miss. It's fast paced paranormal romance with a unique plot a must read for any fan and I can't wait to read more from this author!!!

“Fire of the Dreki” is a unique paranormal tale about a vampire/dragon hybrid. The storyline is creatively well-written and interesting. The main character, Kohl lives in a vampire coven and struggles with controlling his dragon this twist keeps this tale interesting. Can Kohl get it together in time to save Devon, his mate? I really loved this story and look forward to the rest of the series.

This is human Devon Young who works for Parasupe—a company created by the government to regulate supernatural creatures and half vampire/half dragon Kohl Sergones' story. Great addition to the Paranormal Romance genre!
The writing draws you in and keeps you involved throughout the whole story, I found myself in love with not only the characters but also the world that was created.
The descriptions of the characters and their feelings are so involved, you can truly picture it in your mind. Their attitudes toward the events that are happening makes the story even richer.

Loved the book, the story was well written and the characters were intriguing. Once I started I could not get enough, from the start till the end I was engrossed I was even on the edge of my seat with twists and turns, lust and passion, strength. The short story of eroticism of sensation. Do yourself a favor and buy the book you want be disappointed.

A good book with some action, romance, steam, and drama. The characters were good and likeable. The world building was believable. Few editing errors and the book is still undergoing the process at the time of this review. A quick read at novel length.

Kohl is a unique paranormal vampire/dragon shifter who meets Devon,a smart,sassy human. The author does a great job developing their story and pulls you in with her descriptive scenes and interesting story line. It's well written,moves fluidly and I enjoyed reading.

Kohl is a dragon shifter and a vampire and a definite alpha male. He has a slight problem with his dragon side. But this sassy human Devon just happens to know how to help him keep that dragon under control and may be his mate?

A good book with lots of action, romance and drama. The characters were pretty likeable too. I'm surprised this book has not been more popular; but I couldn't get an electronic copy on Amazon for sale which is a shame and probably the reason why - I think this may be a lost opportunity, since it's a pretty decent read.

This has incredible twist and turns and unique characters. This is a great introduction to a new series. I like twist of Kohl being a hybrid. This is creative, well written and very intriguing. I cannot wait to read more of this series.

This is a great read with an awesome storyline that has well developed and engaging characters that have lots of chemistry. The smooth flow of the storyline makes for a good reading time.

It was a good read, had all the components. Steam, action, danger, vampires, Dragon, but the hero was a bit wishy washy for me. I like them more mine claim now lol. I'd probably read book two off it was cheaper.

WOW Congratulations L E Wilson another stunning book. I love vampires but thanks you I now love hybrids . Dreki is so sensitive but grows into his skin as the book progresses, all it takes is the right woman. Anxiously waiting for the rest of the series.
