Mallory Metcalf Reynolds was born to a life of wealth and privilege in the Old South. But the Civil War turns her life upside down—she loses both her mother and her childhood sweetheart. When her aunt tries to help by sponsoring her debutante season, Mallory makes a fateful mistake and compromises her reputation. Her father’s death is the final blow, and she decides to start over, answering an ad for a mail order bride. But when she travels to the far west corner of Texas to meet her intended husband, she finds the vast unsettled country overwhelming and filled with danger. Colonel William Gregor has made his reputation in the U. S. Cavalry fighting hostiles and border raiders. When he’s assigned to a remote West Texas fort, his efforts to stop recurring Apache raids are thwarted by the vast and treacherous mountain terrain. To add to his responsibilities, he’s a grieving widower with a daughter to raise. And in this rough-and-tumble outpost, he has few resources to aid him. When the colonel rescues Mallory, a tentative bond is formed. Mallory’s plan to become a mail order bride is abruptly thwarted, leaving her far from home and with few options. The colonel offers her a position as a teacher. Mallory and the colonel grow closer but when he offers Mallory a marriage of convenience, she hesitates, knowing she must reveal her secret past. Events eclipse her confession, forcing the colonel to face down the Apache while Mallory receives an unexpected threat from home. If they survive their challenges, will the colonel forgive her? Even more important, can Mallory forgive herself for living a lie?

A story of a young Southern woman who just after the Civil War had been compromised (raped) by a man who she thought loved her. When she told him she was pregnant he abandoned her and her baby. She becomes a mail order bride and arrived in Texas only to learn her betrothed had died. This is her story.
Wow, what a perfect conclusion to Hebby Roman’s - West Texas Frontier Series.
Mallory Metcalf Reynolds held tight as she was being jostled around on the stagecoach heading to Fort Davis, Texas to meet her intended. The wide open spaces and mountains peering ahead gave her hope of a future, until all hell broke loose and her stage was attacked by Apaches.
Colonial William McGregor, commander at Fort Davis knows the Apache are attacking stages, freights, and without a telegraph this far West, innocent travelers are at the mercy of arriving anywhere safely. After word arrived of the stage’s attack, “Hearing what happened, his heart wrenched, and his eyes burned. If ever there was a woman who didn’t deserve such a terrible fate, it was Mallory.”
Even though Mallory has been saved and delivered safely to the Fort, she still must face an uncertainty about her future and whether or not to disclose a secre she cannot keep to herself much longer.
Will her secret get her banished from the Fort and those who have helped her, or will this secret actually be a saving grace to the family she has started to love as her own? Can she be forgiven for a past transgression that will forever be a part of her heart and soul?
Ms. Roman embraced this trilogy with a fierce pride of the Great State Of Texas, incorporating beautiful history within each story. Tipping her hat, she showcased three great forts that left their mark on the West Texas Frontier.
If you’re a fan of historical western romance, love a story with great history intertwined, as well as a book packed with great action, plus a powerful message of forgiveness delivered, this book is definitely going to feed your heart and soul. Tonya Lucas 5/20/2018

Mallory Metcalf Reynold's is heading west to have a chance to start a new life. Mallory had been corresponding with Mr. E. P. Murphy and is headed to his ranch in the remote wilds of Texas. Mr. Murphy touted himself to be a forty-six year old wealthy, christian, gentleman and rancher wishing to start a family in his ad for a mail-order bride. Having been born into a life of privilege, a debutante, everything changed when her family lost everything because of the Civil War. She accepted Mr. Murphy's proposal and headed west using the funds he sent her because she was out of options. Shortly prior to arriving at her destination, the stage coach that Mallory was on was attacked by Indians. Mallory and one man were taken hostage and the others were killed.
Colonel William Gregor, the commander of Fort Davis, is with a patrol looking for a raiding party that has been terrorizing the area. An Apache scout has sought out Gregor to let him know that the leader of the raiding party, Caballero, wants to meet in Seven Springs to make an exchange for the Indian hostages. A couple days prior, one of the regular patrols had stopped an attack and had captured three Apache women and a baby. Having had passed out from the fright of being captured by the indians when Mallory awakens she's in the arms of a soldier. She had been saved.
This addition to the series, Mallory, sucked me in in the first few pages and I did not want to put it down. I just had to know how things were going to turn out for Mallory and the other characters. Mallory has a tragic past and a big secret that she is hiding from everyone she comes to know in her new life. Will she divulge her secrets and if she does will she lose the trust of everyone that has come to mean so much to her? An excellent, fast read you won't want to put down.
Mallory was my absolute favorite so far by the wonderful, talented Hebby Roman! I loved Mallory’s story I didn’t want the story to end. This is one of those stories where 5 stars just seems so inadequate. I wish I could could give a 100+ Gold Stars. I could simply go on and on singing the high praises of Hebby Roman. She has such a wonderful way of bringing a historical romance alive. Hebby Roman can weave a story in such a way that her books will live on in the reader’s heart long after the last page has been read. Not only does the reader get a wonderful story but a little history lesson along the way. She is to be highly commended and deserves the highest of accolades. Never pass up a Hebby Roman book and especially this book. Mallory is simply Splendid!!!!
I loved this book. Mallory is very easy to like and you really feel for what she has been through and has left behind. When she meets Colonel William Gregor after her stagecoach attack she feels safe and secure in him arms. She soon learns that her intended has died and she has no money to get back home. Colonel Gregor gives her a job teaching his daughter and she soon realizes that she is falling head over heals for the Colonel. The Colonel also has feelings for Mallory and asks her to marry him. However, Mallory has a HUGE secret. Can the Colonel forgive her for her secret? Or will he decide that her secret is too much to handle?
This was the first book I have read by Hebby Roman, and it had me enthralled from beginning to end. I am looking forward to reading her other Mail Order Bride books.
Mallory: The Mail Order Bride (A Wear Texas Frontier Trilogy Book 3)
Mallory find that she has more strength than she ever thought when she arrived in West Texas as a Mail Order Bride, however fate can turn even the best plans to dust . She somehow has to find the courage to look for a new life , sometimes love can find it's way into the mix too. This was a really good read. BRAVO 👏👏
Mallory and Will's story kept me engrossed! Themes of acceptance and forgiveness as well as consequences to lies and unwise choices are weaved into this entertainingly sweet story.
You get to experience alot of Will's duties and struggles as the fort commander along with Mallory's struggles to find where she fits in and figure out her future, and if it could include Will. Their love story is a slow-building journey that has several trials to work through to find their happily-ever-after.
I enjoyed going back in time and seeing history come to life through their story - although the judgement and prejudice of the time and "society" still makes me struggle and hurt at times.
If you like sweet (clean) stories that have little nuggets of wisdom written into the pages, and love a mail order bride story that has a few twists, this is a book for you!
No disappointment here, Hebby Roman has brought to life another historical story with all the details of the time for her characters to live in. Mallory comes West with a secret and desire for a fresh start in life as a mail-order-bride to a rancher. Col. Will Gregor is widowed and has a daughter, Peggy, in need of education and mothering. Nothing goes as planned. The action twists and turns with a mystery, or two, woven in. The acceptable proper conduct of men and women can hinder, or propel relationships out west. But, there is a secret yet to be revealed. That secret is soon to arrive. Mystery, romance, hostiles, greed, murder, emotional turmoil, judgement, support, hatred, love and family all come into play. A great read at 5 stars. Read to find out how it all comes together.
Loved this story. A great ending to this trilogy. Hebby Roman has once again weaved a story that keeps you turning the pages. Mallory's story took you from the old South to the west. Going west to get married and start a new life, only to be attacked by indians is just the start of the adventures in front of her. Colonel William Gregor, a widower with a preteen daughter. He has the chore of escorting Mallory to her bridgroom. Not as easy as it sounds. Going from having been married many years, to being around a very attractive young lady. The conflicts they they both face as they learn to love again.
I have immensely enjoyed reading this trilogy set of books. Hebby is a very talented author and keeps you coming back for more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mallory's story. Even though the time period is different, the issue of women getting taken advantage of is, unfortunately, still happening today. Will Mallory end up with a Happily Ever After and be able to have her son with her, or will she be ostracized and leave in shame? You'll have to read this story yourself to find out how her life turns out. Very definitely a must read.
Indians and battles and stage coaches a true western saga plus the adventures of two people needing a companion and the past that threatens their happiness.

I thoroughly enjoyed this romance about a young woman brought up on a wealthy plantation trying to salvage her life after losing most of her family and wealth. Unfortunately, a secret from her past threatened her future. The author portrayed her characters very well. I enjoyed the plot and suspenseful action scenes. A great ending.
This was the 3rd book in the series and was so good. It is a western that you really get involved with the characters. It was a joy to read. Hebby hit the ball over the wall with this one!
