LEGACY
Verity Jameson's day switches from mundane to disastrous when she runs down a stranger with her car. Fortunately for Vee, she can't kill Death. Death, who just happens to be one of the Four Horsemen, and he's looking for her.

The Four Horsemen spend life preventing the end of the world, not bringing on an apocalypse. Without their fifth member, the Four Horsemen are losing the battle. Now they've found Verity and what they tell her goes far beyond the conspiracy theories she spends her free time investigating.

A new life with four dark, sexy and dangerous men fighting demons, vampires and fae? Not what Vee had planned, but a hell of a lot more interesting than her boring job in tech support. So what happens when the unbreakable bond of the Five takes control in a way none of them expected?

BOUND
What happens when you discover Truth is a lie?

Ewan's shock revelation sends Vee's life further into chaos, and she faces an uncertain future in a secret world she never knew existed.

The Four Horsemen now have their missing link and will each do anything to protect and support her, but Vee's determined to show them she can be their equal.

When Vee joins the Four Horsemen's hunt for those behind the plot to murder a fae queen, she discovers society faces bigger dangers than she realised. One night changes everything and increases Vee's determination to harness her power and step into her new role. The group are about to find out exactly how powerful Truth is.

HUNTED

Who is Vee? Where did she come from? And what is the darkness the fae can see inside her?

Xander's reaction to these questions drives a bigger wedge between the fae and the Horsemen. His move isn't popular with the others because right now they need fae help more than ever.

A bloody message and a series of murders lead to a search for a threat from the past. Instead, the Horsemen encounter something new and dangerous. The race is on to find out what the creatures are and how big a threat they are to an already chaotic world.

Vee discovers using her powers has a strange effect on her relationship with the Horsemen. Although this pulls her closer to the guys, the conflict between Vee and Xander continues. But is the greatest conflict within himself?

And as the Five search for answers, someone watches. What does he know and can he help? Or does he have an agenda of his own?

The box set contains the first three books in the series: LEGACY, BOUND and HUNTED. The Four Horsemen is an urban fantasy series with a reverse harem twist. The booksslow burn to steamy scenes, have a kickass heroine, and four guys who'll do anything for the girl who's the centre of their world.

Love

I’m slowly making my way through this authors backlist. This box set is books 1 to 3 of The Four Horsemen series. I’m not going to say much other than I loved the first 3 books so far. I already have the box set of the rest of the series downloaded on my kindle.

Interesting

Not quite sure what to think of this book. Good story line. Vee is a great character. Story line flows pretty well.

Book set 1-3, A decent storyline which kept me reading. I was worried that the sex angle would take over and overwhelm the story, but happily, so far it hasn’t. Good characterisation and strong female lead.

There's nothing wrong with this book. It was written well enough, although there were a couple parts where it was confusing (i.e. you can't tell who's saying things, Vee "wishes she'd never opened her mouth" but she wasn't the one who had originally said something), but it could be fixed with another round of editing. It was easy to read in that it kept me turning the pages. Also, this book is more of a "serial" than a "series." The books just cut off at a certain part in the story instead of each book having a beginning, middle, and end with an overarching story over all the books in the series. Just a warning if you don't like books in that format. I don't know if the whole series is like that, but these first 3 books are.

The problem for me personally is that I didn't connect with any of the characters. I'm tired of the "not like other girls" trope, especially ones where she doesn't know how to use makeup and wears sloppy clothes, etc. As if she can't be the Fifth Horsemen AND put time into her appearance. Also, the girl hate in the beginning is just exhausting to me. This isn't really the book's fault though, it's more that I'm tired of reading stuff like that. It's becoming a pet peeve. So I didn't connect with the main character. There were some scenes where I thought I would, such as when she found out who she was and had some emotional turmoil,

I also didn't connect to any of the guys. The problem with them not remembering anything about themselves is that I have nothing to grab onto. They were pretty one-dimensional in my opinion. They don't really get their own personalities with any type of layers. At least not in these first 3 books.

I am a reader who enjoys characters more than plot. I didn't care enough about the characters to read through a plot that I didn't really enjoy. It felt too "murder mystery" to me or suspense/thriller and I'm not usually into those genres. If I love the characters I can make it through, but unfortunately I didn't in this case. Again, nothing wrong with the book. It was just a miss for me. The characters, the plot, and also the "romance" if you can even call it that. It's just not my thing (reverse harem). I will probably not be continuing on with the series.

Good plot but main character could use a backbone

I really tried to like this, I thought that storyline was interesting which is why I lasted past book 2 and a little into 3 but I just couldn’t get behind Vee as a main character. She seems to just let them push her around and I hate how she acts with her interactions with the Fae Queen, she has no backbone. There are a couple grammatical errors but those can be pretty easily overlooked. I tired to give it a fair chance as I was hoping Vee’s character would develop after Book 1 but she seems to be devolving if anything.

I got a copy of this set when it was free on amazon, although I will admit I have been looking at this series for a while. I love all things paranormal, mythological etc. This series called to me but something kept holding me back from buying it. Maybe it was some of the reviews but I have long since learned that reviews do help to a point but we all see things differently when we are reading and what for some just doesn't work for others of us....turns out to be just what we we're looking for. When it became available for free I could no longer pass it up. I will add that offering up books like this is GENIUS!
Why you ask? Well, once you get started and hooked it's impossible not to purchase what comes after.

The four horsemen of the apocalypse have a fifth and it's not a he, and doesn't that only make for one hot series. This series is a reverse harem wrapped around the four horsemen and the fifth they just discovered exists. Not only is there a fifth but the fifth is a female by the name of Verity. Vee had no idea who or what she was until the four horsemen find her. Now remember we have to be introduced to all the characters so this first book is more a less a building block so don't look for a fast start. We need to learn the characters and their personalities and how they will work together.
Once I read enough to learn exactly that I became more enthralled with not only the characters but where their dynamics would lead.

Yes, there is attraction and it makes for some rather intense moments within the group but be fair and understand that there is a story going on too. And with each character growing closer we learn more about what makes the horsemen tick as a whole. The author has put quite a twist on what we've always read about these characters which for me only makes the story that much more interesting. Is it typical mythology? NO! If it were I really wouldn't need to read it. Did the author achieve her goal of offering a new theory? Oh yeah~
Will I continue reading this series? I couldn't resist is I wanted to.
Heath, Ewan, Xander and Joss along with Vee have my mind working on different scenarios to what will happen when all is said and done. An active imagination is a magickal thing..

Thank you very much to the author for kick starting the magick I thought I lost with age.

Legacy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this book, and this whole series. I read Legacy a few months ago, and it’s what introduced me to RH fiction. I’ve since voraciously read the whole series, what’s available of Syv’s story, and a few other LJ Swallow novels. I’m a big fan of when authors take myths or legends and twist them. So this series and Huntress are favourites of mine. I personally love the characters in TFH, and how they grow. I don’t think it’s hard to get invested in them. My only complaint is more about the first part of this series, rather than just this book, and it’s that I found the books on the short side. When I say I voraciously read them, I mean I read the first four in a day. Definitely by Reckoning it was sorted, but the first few books felt a little like you were just getting your teeth in and they were over.

As for just this book, it’s a definite must read. You won’t want it to stop, so make sure you get all the others, now that it’s a complete set. And make sure you have a weekend free.

Bound ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The second book in The Four Horsemen story picks up exactly where it left off. Vee has been shocked to her core, and I really like that she starts to find herself in this book. She’s been spunky and sarcastic, but she starts to realise that she’s strong, physically, and that translates into a mental strength, even if she doesn’t really realise it. We start to see more of Ewan and Xander in this book, even if it means not seeing as much of Heath or Joss, but I think they’re the two characters that are more puzzling, so it’s going to take Vee more time. Again, my only gripe isn’t really a gripe - it’s a bit short for me, but it just means that it’s straight onto book 3.

Hunted ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Poor Vee can’t catch a break. She really gets pushed to her limits in this book, and she keeps surviving. You can really see a lot of change in Vee in this book, and how it affects her relationships with the Horsemen. This book doesn’t stop. You go from one thing, to the next, to the next, but it doesn’t feel forced or rushed. It’s just straight down the rabbit hole, and don’t make plans to come out until the book is finished. You won’t be able to put it down.

This was a long read. Or at least it felt long because it took such a long time for anything to happen! Three books in and it’s barely getting started. I’m taking a break for a palate cleanser before even thinking about finishing this series. It has an interesting premise: a modern twist on the Four Horsemen legends, with Pestilence being a hacker who spreads computer viruses and Death who can both kill and restore life. Famine feeds on energy and starves the pain, anger and hurt from others, plus War, who is a grumpy control freak with anger issues. Then Truth, aka Verity, the new Fifth Horseman (horseperson?). They spend an inordinate amount of time telling themselves and each other they DEFINITELY aren’t going to have sex with her, even though they all want to, then of course they do anyway. Yawn. But it’s not really a tense slow burn so much as a frustratingly pedestrian slog to the spice, which is really only 2/5 chillies on a heat rating. It’s a shame, because the series could have been amazing and I kept feeling let down by the author either rushing a scene or taking too much time to get to the point.

Very good series about a girl who isn't really a girl and four guys who aren't really guys. Clear as mud? Verity is a geek who cannot lie and who works a dead end job in IT. Her life is normal, if boring, until the night she goes back to her apartment and finds herself fighting for her life against two things that obviously are not human. As all seems lost she is rescued by the cute guy from work that she had just left outside her building after having a drink with him. So starts a whole new life as Verity (Vee) finds herself part of a group of immortals who are tasked with keeping the portals to the demon worlds closed, while dealing with the demons, Fae, and Vampires who are on this side. Throw in the discovery that her memories of a childhood and family aren't even real, that she has powers beyond even those of her housemates and the inexplicable fact that she wants to shag all four of them, and you have the makings of a binge worthy series. I have to go now and see if I have the next one...

I loved it!

I do like this take on the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. Adding a fifth, especially a female, always takes things to a different level.
Verity, better known as Vee, finds out she isn’t really a human, that she is in fact the fifth member. The poor girl is quickly thrown I to the world of fae, vampires, demons, shifters, and perhaps a few things yet to be determined.
War (Xander), Death (Heath), Pestilence (Evan), and Famine (Joss) are Vee’s new housemates. And boy, there is one big learning curve ahead of her.
The demons are getting bolder trying to open the portals so they can flood this realm and take over.
Can they, along with Vee figure out what’s going on in time to stop the apocalypse?

I just love this series! I've read all 7 books and each one is better than the last.
I'm so happy Ms. Swallow is putting them out in box sets. I'll definitely be buying the next set as well!
I can't wait to reread these books again and again.
Verity is a regular human, until she's not, turns out she's the Fifth Horseman, Truth. The other Four Horsemen are drool-worthy men. Each with their own problems and each with their own strengths.
Add in faeries, demons, angels, hellhounds, a vengeful god, lots of magic, and a slow starting RH.
You won't find a better series than the Four Horsemen!

This blood is for 18+ readers. I really liked the plot of this book. The characters are also interesting. It's reverse harem, which is alright with me. There is a lot of time focused on the characters attraction to each other and the conflicts it causes; while I think that is important to the story, I just felt there was a lot of time focused on this that could have been used to further move along the main plot.

Wow

Verity knows the stories about the four horsemen, but she soon finds out they were all wrong. Also her name means more than just Truth, because she is Truth. As she grows into her new life the old keeps pulling her back, and also to the four men she now has a very real connection to. So many twits and turns, and not a dull moment through out these 3 books. With some yummy scenes.

This book is a different take on the four horseman. Vee finds out she is a horseman when a demon and fea trying to kidnap her. One of the guys saves her but she leans the truth about who she is. There is alot going on and they are trying to figure out how is causing trouble. On top of everything Vee and the guys are trying to figure out where they stand with each other. Vee is powerful but there's a darkness inside of her that she's trying to figure out.

Reverse harem paranormal.

The four horseman find a 5th. She is not what they expected. Fae are disappearing and dying. Fae are working with demons. Everything is in chaos. Vee is truth. Everyone wants her. The four want to protect her and shag her . She wants to kill all evil. I loved that there are 2 sides to war, death, pestilence and famine. This is definitely a binge worthy series. Enjoy.

I really enjoyed this series. There was a lot of excitement with Verity and the guys. There were many unpredictable moments not knowing what would happen since we didn’t know for awhile what her purpose was or what she was cable of. I love stories that leave you guessing. I loved the guys, especially Heath and Joss. Xander was intense but there’s always got to be one like him in every story...the one you love to hate. Definitely recommend this series!

Creative story telling

I liked this book! It always had a twist to what was uncovered. Altho I do think the fmc needs to grow a bit of a backbone and snap back at some of the hurtful comments sent her way and it was a bit weird she was ok with joss taking her fear away when she was emotionally distraught. It just felt like she accepted it to easily, so it didn’t feel very natural. Otherwise, I really liked this series. I’m off to read the next bunch!

This novel is captivating. I fell in love with the cover and the novel was just as dynamic. As you read, it will be up to you to put the pieces together! This is a brilliant read! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. The world building is detailed and imaginative. This novel has strong, well-developed characters and an interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I recommend this novel and would I plan to read more novels by this author

surprisingly good

Honestly I had not so high expectations as some similar books turned out to have a bipolar heroine and less story more erotics. This book has a good balance and its not about the execution but the built of relationship. And it has a great story and many adventure. So Im satisfied with the content and will finish the series. As each book is a100+ pages it’s not too much.

I got this set free on Amazon one day. I'm stuck because there are things I like and things I don't. Vee is kind of a wash, she doesn't stick up for herself and make the guys tell her things. She's more of a sit back and wait sort of person. Then, when things get spicy she's portrayed as more upfront. Also, did it have to be THAT MUCH of a slow burn? I really need a trigger warning about that.

On the other hand, it's well-written and the actual plot keeps things bumping along.

I started rereading the whole series recently. This is my first series in this genre, I was hooked in book one when we met Vee and her men. I love how L.J. Swallow brings her world to life. Her stories flow from one pov to the other. Vee sure is a lucky lady as each man in her life helps her find her inner strength as she provides them a way to keep their own humanity.

Thank You L.J. Swallow!!

A wonderfully written book

I loved almost everything about this three book RH set. The characters and writing are wonderful. The editing and pacing were good.

The only thing I didn't like about it is the first three are free, and the next four cost $9.99! It kind of reminds me of a pusher. ;-)

Okay read....a little disappointed

I always love reading this author but I finished this 1-3 and have to say I just had a hard time staying engaged with the story. I think the storyline was a excellent idea but just didn't keep me engaged. I hate giving a 3 because someone else might enjoy it. It just wasn't for me. Sorry :(

The three first books of the series in a convenient boxed set! Yay!!! That means binge-reading and getting lost in a highly addictive tale. Ms. Swallow has delivered an amazing series, with excellent world building, well-developed characters, plenty of suspense, a RH romance, magic and an array of supernatural creatures. And now I'm addicted...

What can I say. These are awesome. It's a cool interpretation of the four horseman and now we've got the 5th. I read these all together all 7. I like to read a book or two on one series than switch and actually read several series at once and even some regular novels. I didn't with these. I read them straight through

I wish it could go on forever!

This is my bibliophile version of a soap opera, I can't get enough of Vee and the pony boys. The plot is unique, I have yet to read anything similar, the characters are deep and have a depth few authors bother with. I could read stories about them for years and still find interesting new tidbits and be surprised by the characters.

This book was brought to my attention by a reverse harem Facebook group. I am so glad it was recommended! I love everything about this series, from the unique storyline to the characters to their interesting relationships. It’s everything I could possibly want plus more!
