I thought I would enjoy this one, but at about 40%, it went downhill. The heroine talked all about securing her heart and not letting anyone on, but I felt she let Ryan in pretty quickly. She lost her virginity to him at a bar. it was not very romantic. Their actions and verbiage did not match. It felt awkward. They said one thing, but did the opposite. I was missing the connection. I found myself skimming after they had sex which I did not think was sweet or hot.

The writing felt amateurish.

It ended in a cliffy at 72%. I love a good cliffhanger, but this one was manufactured. The heroine found an old DVD of the hero and two groupies having sex.

I liked the cover. Warning - Don't judge a book by its cover. I never learn.

My opinion. You may love this one. After looking at reviews, I see I am in the minority unless they are ARC reviews.

I love a good rock star romance, in fact they’re my biggest weakness. Thus, I was more than willing to dive into Sharlyn G. Branson’s Beautiful Devil, the first book in The Rockstar duet. It sounded like the kind of read I would adore, the perfect read for a fan of rock star romances.

Sadly, for me, this wasn’t what I was hoping for. It didn’t really have the rock star feel to it, the things I love so much about rock star romances. I enjoy it when authors take a trope and alter it, giving us something completely different to the norm, yet this felt like any old romance rather than specifically being a rock star romance. In many ways, I think this is why I was so disappointed. If my mind had not been filled with rock star possibilities, I probably would have enjoyed this a wee bit more than I did.

As it stands, this was a rounded-up rating. A part of me considered handing over a two-star rating to this book – it was overly sweet for my liking, things happened too quickly, and I never really came to connect with the characters – but the fact the ending left me willing to dive into the second book to see how everything comes together had me rounding up.

I’m sure there are many out there who will really enjoy this – in fact, I’m clearly in the minority based upon the other reviews – but, personally, it was not for me.

Perfection by a master!

Ryan is known as the devil because he is known to pull the girls in, make them scream with pleasure and then kick them to the curb. Next in line please. That is until he meets the beautiful perfect woman, for him, Emily. Rockstar might have all the fun, but Sharlyn G. Branson has the mind to bring them to life. It's authors like her that made me fall in love with reading. I can't wait to get started on book 2

I had a difficult time reading this book. I have never read anything by this author and honestly jumped at the chance to read it because it was a Rock Star Romance. I had a certain idea of what I would be reading but I was wrong unfortunately.

The Red-haired beauty would come to me in my dreams and seduce me. We'd have sex almost every night...
I looked lustfully at his disappearing body-wide shoulders, tight hips-and realized ominous cracks had appeared in the wall I'd built to protect myself from men.

I wanted her to be mine-and to punish her for putting herself in such danger. I wanted to take her back to my house, throw her on my desk, spank her butt...
Okay butt? That is not rock star speak! And all of this is after 5 seconds of meeting her.
I get they felt a connection, but I didn't feel their connection at all. There was no development it was just they meet, BAM! And I need some kind of connection but I felt nothing.

I was bored. The writing was okay.. It was just a little on the sweet side for me, I don't like my rock star romance sweet. And I was in danger of getting a toothache from this one.

There was no HEAT in the love scenes, it felt so uncomfortable to even read.

The book ended when she came across a DVD. She watched it. It wasn't out there in the world for everyone to see but in Ryan's home and she just over the top reacted to it. It was super immature. And her reaction...

Good Heavens & Ryan is perverted. So she's not enough. This made me cringe. A lot of this book just felt very immature.

It ends at 72% on a cliffhanger. Book 2 releases on September 18th but I will not be reading or reviewing it.

Having read the Limits of Destiny series by the same author, when I heard there was a new series coming out, I quickly signed up to read it.
Beautiful Devil, book one in the Rockstar Duet series by Sharlyn Branson follows the characters of bad-boy Ryan Wilder, top rockstar in the world with his band Blackstone and the sexy French dancer, Emily Delon. When Ryan happens to come across a pair of dancer on the beach, his reflexes kick in when he see the girl falling and catches her before she hits the sand, flaring up an instant attraction for the petite dancer. Brushing the feelings aside, it isn’t until she gets a job at the club he owns, Wild Angels. As they finally give in to the growing attraction between them, the pair become almost inseparable, until Emily finds a DVD from Ryan’s past that tears down all the images she had of their time together. Will Ryan be able to stop her from breaking his heart? Or will the darkness from his past change Emily’s plans for the future? This book ends on a cliffhanger, so it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Beautiful Devil is a duology, so you will need to read both books to enjoy the story. Book one ends in a not so bad cliffy, thankfully but you sure do want to grab the next book to see what transpires between Emily and Ryan. We see the bad boy rocker, Ryan who has it all and can have any girl he desires, and we see Emily a girl who is so out of her element when it comes to other women that we feel the emotion endured in this story. He says the sand drew him in, but I’m saying the sweetness drew him even further. He has a past just like we all do, and he isn’t looking for “love”, but that Devil and Angel aren’t helping matters, now are they? Will love prevail or was it just an infatuation of a heartbeat? Read this duo and find out.

Playboy rocker, Ryan is drawn to the mysterious dancer after a chance encounter that happened over a month ago.
Emily is just wanting a shot to dance at the rocker's club without that first encounter damaging her image.
Hot and cold keep everyone intrigued. I loved how that the characters can't seem to help themselves fall... It's a quick read that leaves you wanting more...

It centers more on the relationship that is building between them, instead of the rock and roll lifestyle, but it is there on the periphery. This book ends in a cliffhanger, so keep that in mind, but I enjoyed reading this book so much, I can impatiently wait on the next one. I highly recommend this book. It is worth the cliffhanger.

I haven’t read a rock romance in a while, so I was really pleased when this hit my kindle and by the time I was finished I was not only pleased, I was super sated because this was a first-class rocker romance, fabulously well written and presented majestically.
Ryan was more than just damaged, he was a jigsaw of broken pieces all just barely hanging together. With a past that spoke volumes as to why he was the way he was, this delicious, devilishly handsome alpha male was so much more than eye candy for the legions of adoring fans, he was different and for me that made him super interesting.
Of course, where there is a guy like Ryan there is a woman in the wings and in this case that woman was Emily, everything that Ryan is…she isn’t. She is almost too innocent, I couldn’t quite see how the two of them could connect but I needn’t have worried because the author wove their story together beautifully.
Told from dual points of view I was delighted that I had the chance to hear what they were both thinking and feeling.
As the first part of a duo, the conclusion was as expected…tantalising!
I look forward to reading where Ryan and Emily head next.

The book is romantic, sweet, sexy, and with mystery. It is what I need when I’m reading a book, not always to know what will happened.

There are some secrets:
“The past couldn’t be changed. It left its ugly wounds, which needed a long time, maybe almost a lifetime, to heal. And even when they did heal, the scars left behind would always remind us what happened.”

In this book you will learn more about the diabetes, which was very interesting to me, because my sister has diabetes. The info was very helpful.
