Wow!! So much story in such a short book!! Suffering from a terrible loss, Hope turns to a life of crime just trying to survive but becomes addicted to the high. Then she meets Rowe, the detective. Will they be able to make things work.... that's the big question.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this review voluntarily.
This book is part of the anthology: The Vault -- A Sinfully Sexy Collection.
This was a quick read that packed a lot of punch. Hope is a strong character that had her world turned upside down at 19 when she lost both her parents. She then went through life numb. The only thing that gave her the high she craved so she would feel again was stealing. It all started when she ran out of money and was hungry, she robbed a convenience store. From that day forward, that became her chosen profession and she was good at it.
Rowe was a detective that loved his job. His late father and late brother were both police officers and he honored them by continuing the family profession. You could say he was married to his job. He doesn’t do relationships. All the women he is with know he does not commit and is only there for them both to have a good time. That all changes when he meets this sexy, mysterious, pierced and tattooed woman at a bar. She was blunt, snarky and showed no interest in him at all. He was captivated and wouldn’t stay away. He was persistent and was able to break down her walls enough to go home with her. Hope is always guarding her identity and goes by fictitious names. She has no clue the sexy man pursuing her is a detective until he leaves her his business card. She panics and packs up and leaves her sparse apartment.
That’s where I am going to end it! Like I said in the beginning, there is a lot that goes on and I don’t want to give anything away. I loved the story, the characters and how they developed. I liked the twists and turns and the final outcome when the ride ended. You want a quick, very sexy read, give this book a try!

This was my first book by Michelle Dare and i was curious about her considering it wasn't the first time i had heard about her or the reviews raving about her stories. I knew Uncuffed would be a quick read - as part of the Vault Anthology, i expected nothing else. I was surprised, however, at how she managed to pen a story that was captivating, suspenseful and sexy while making the reader forget that it's a short story.
Rowe and Hope really have no business together - a career thief and the detective on the case to bring her down is unheard of and shouldn't work. But boy is their chemistry is undeniable and something to behold. This was the perfect introduction to this author because one thing is for sure, i'm curious to find out what else she has to offer.
Hope Hayes loved dogs as a child and had dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Her dreams were quickly shattered one November night when police came to her house and delivered the news that her parents had died in an auto accident. Not coping well with their deaths, she spent all the money from their will in less than a year. Except for the money that was invested, she was broke. So, out of need to eat she started stealing. Now she's addicted to stealing but with a twist. She befriends them and steals right out from under them. Until Rowe comes into her life...
Rowe is a cop. He doesn't do relationships. Hit and go is the motto he lives by. However, when he sees a gorgeous tattooed woman at the table next to him in a bar, he does a double take. He approaches her and oh boy, not only is she gorgeous she has a very smart mouth!! This is about to get interesting!!
As always with Michelle Dare, this is one smoking hot story that I couldn't put down until I was finished!
Uncuffed is everything I've come to expect from Michelle Dare and then some! I love stories of strong females, with a stronger Alpha male. Hope and Rowe deliver in spades! Talk about passion! They were so HOT! Right away I was sucked into Hope's world, almost in tears as I read her back story. Then, just before we get to present time I read "My name is Hope Hayes, and I’m a thief." And, Bam! Those words just hit me and I knew I was in for a good read! Hope and Rowe were living in two different worlds. One a career criminal and one a bluer than blue blooded Detective. I loved that there was some mystery with Hope hiding who she truly was and wondering how they would get their HEA. Praying there would be a HEA! Reading through some of the twists had me on edge because I couldn't guess what was coming next, and I needed to know! This is not a start of a story, this is a complete and full story! Definitely one of my top reads in The Vault!
I loved Hope and Rowe. I am such a fan girl when it comes to Michelle's characters and their stort story was part of the Vault and oh my it surely packed a punch ! Hope Hayes..she was full of hope until one fateful night she lost it all. Her parents now gone she takes everything let to her and whips it away in a year. Now she has turned to a life of crime. Stealing was how she survived until it became an addiction for her..she can't stop herself. Rowe he is a police officer. He is following in his families footsteps. He has no time for relationships but one night stands he can do! One night with Hope and he doesn't know what has taken him over. Hope soon realizes her dilemma and needs to get away . Sleeping with Rowe was more than she expected now she realizes she may be found out! Hope may be able to run but Rowe will always find a way! Loved their story! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
I read this novella as part of the Vault anthology and loved Rowe and Hope's story. Broken by the loss of her family, Hope takes a turn in her life that she could never imagine. Conning unsuspecting targets out of their money gives her a thrill, until she meets a man in a bar. Someone who will flip her world upside down. Rowe is a second generation cop with no time for anything but work and the occasional one-night stand. He meets Hope and all bets are off. He is undeniably drawn to Hope, the last woman on earth he should want. Their chemistry is intense and explosive. The banter is sexy, the relationship is hot and the twists are just enough to surprise the reader. I enjoyed this story and would love to see more of this couple
Uncuffed by Michelle Dare was amazing. Hope ended up an orphan at 19 when her parents were killed in an accident. She then decided she had to do what she needed to do to keep food in her stomach. Stealing became an addiction to her. She had a system and she covered her tracks well. I loved the story of Hope and Rowe. They met by accident but when Hope realized he was a detective she, decided she couldn't have him anywhere near her. She tried to avoid him and even fled place she lived to get away from him. Rowe has connections. Will he be able to find Hope or has the woman he thought he was falling for so quickly just vanished. Such a great part of the boxset. My favorite so far!
Uncuffed by Michelle Dare is part of The Vault anthology and it was so so good! Ms. Dare continues to amaze me with her writing and Uncuffed is no different. Hope hasn't had an easy life. With her parents dying when she was young, she has been numb for a long time. The only feelings she has is when she is stealing. When she meets Rowe, their attraction is through the roof. But when she finds out what he does for a living Hope knows there can be no future...or can there be? I absolutely loved reading this novella. Usually I am not a fan of them but Ms. Dare was able to pack a huge punch with Uncuffed! This is definitely a must read!
Hope Hayes doesn't stick around longer than it takes to get the job done. She doesn't have strings so why is the sexy detective under her skin. Rowe Falk loves his job, he was born to it and feels an it honor to be a part of the same thing his father and brother devoted their lives to. Never feeling a connection to anyone has him questioning why he can't get her out of his head. This story was a captivating. I enjoyed the pace and the way the story unfolded. The characters were unique and very interesting. I have read many of this author's works and am glad to have read this one. It was quite memorable.
I am never disappointed by a Michelle Dare she writes stories that suck you in and leave you wanting more. Hope is a thief her parents both died, and it's only her, she's numb and hurting. She steals from people , at first it's a survival situation, but then she becomes consumed and addictive. Rowe is a detective who is a love em, for one night and get out. He meets Hope aka Ashlyn at a bar and finally finds someone he wants another night with. Hope can't bring down Rowe, and Rowe won't give up on Hope. I wanted it to go on, it was captivating and I just loved this couple.
For this being a novelette the author sure packed a lot into her story, it was hot and steamy and just enough to leave you wanting more of Hope and Rowe's story.
The pairing of Rowe and Hope together is the most unlikely of pairings that I have read in a book, Hope is a criminal living on the wrong side of the law and if you have not guess it by now Rowe is a cop living on the right side of the law.
To find out of they make it till the end with a happily ever after you will have to read this novelette when it comes out in the anthology later in October 2017
Michelle Dare certainly knows how to spin a tale and I have never been disappointed in reading her stories. This one is no exception - I definitely and highly recommend reading this story about Hope and Rowe, two people you probably would not imagine as a couple but reading their story you come to see how it can be. There is lots of passion, action, romance, and suspense. Another one you will find hard to put down till you finish books.
When Hope meets Rowe at a bar she tells him her name is Ashlyn but when they are together they both feel a different connection so as soon as sex is over he bails. When he leaves he drops his business card so Hope can call him but she knows she can't she is a thief and no matter how she feels about him she can't stay here. Rowe has been assigned to find out who is stealing people's checks and cashing them but he can't get the night he spent with Ashlyn out of his head. When he convinces her to go to dinner with him she has just packed her suitcase and was bailing but he convinces her and they have a nice time. The next day he goes to her house and she is gone but he has a picture he took after the last time he loads it into the police computer and finds out a lot about Hope not Ashlyn and he is on his way to her house right now. Loved this story and who isn't a sucker for love at first sight even if one of you is in jail
My favorite so far in The Vault! Hope loses her family at 19. She goes through half her inheritance within a year, and then she decides to start stealing. She ends up having a one night stand with Rowe. She then finds out that he is in fact a detective. As in the same detective investigating multiple check theft crimes in his small home town. Needless to say their paths cross again, but you’ll never believe how.
Hope loses her parents and turns to a life of crime to support herself. Rowe is a detective who meets a girl named Ashlyn in a bar. They have a one night stand that ends abruptly. As Rowe is trying to figure out a case he is working on he cant get her out of his mind. But is Ashlyn who she says she is or is there more to it then that. Another excellent read by Michelle Dare. Featured in the Vault Anthology
Michelle Dare’s story gives us a unique ride with a tattooed thief and a cop that has you swooning and giggling and wanting more! I really loved the characters in this one! The clash of the lifestyles of Rowe and Hope was amazing! I loved their first interaction. It made me giggle but made me go OMG please just hook up! It has to be one of my favorite short stories in The Vault Anthology!
I fell in love with Hope and Rowe! Michelle knows how to bring the emotions to the table as she writes, you feel everything that Hope and Rowe are going through! In the end will they have a future together or will it end before it even begins?
This was just ok. I didn't really believe that Rowe would give it all up for Hope so quickly. It was insta-love which is ok at times. I think this story just felt to rushed and there wasn't enough time with the characters. I did love the cover of the book though.
5 amazing stars for this wonderful book. It keeps you on your toes and really excites you. It’s so passionate and simply amazing. I love it so much. Most favourite book yet in the vault.
I loved this standalone romance. Michelle Dare is a fantastic writer who knows how to suck you in with emotions on full blast. I want more Rowe and Hope.
With this one it is done with a bit of sneak thanks to the character Hope and her tale. As you get into this one you will have a jaw drop further and further with her escapades. Rowe is someone you can stick too with you eating up every bit of him. Their story is one that will have you flabbergasted but not able to pull away.
Uncuffed by Michelle Dare belongs an anthology called The Vault. This book is a short story and belongs to erotic romance genre. The story hinges on Hope who is a criminal and Rowe who is a detective. From this part you can imagine how it is. These descriptions took my attention instantly. Their love grow from an unexpected moment, 'cause Hope has an strong personality, so is hard to convince her that she felt in love with Rowe. Rowe, felt in love, and can't get away from her, every feeling, every sex, isn't enough. I really enjoyed Michelle's writing once again, but this turn she wrote a short story - like I said -, which she did very well. A fast reading, so if you enjoy this kind of story, prepare yourself! Great characters, an amazing delevopment.
I LOVED Rowe and Hope's story SOOOOO much!!! Hope was devastated, broken after the death of her parents, and ends up turning to a life of crime. She becomes really good at the con's and taking money from unsuspecting people, that is until Rowe.
Rowe is a cop. It's in his bloodline. With no room in his life for romance all he does is one night stands, that is until he meets Hope (ego is using a fake name) He is instantly drawn to her.
Their chemistry is EXPLOSIVE!!! The banter between them HILARIOUS!! So many great twists that tie these two together. I enjoyed this story very much and would love to see more of this couple in the future.
*I read an Advance copy. This is my honest review.*
What a fantastic and fun story! This little novella is a pleasure to read from start to finish. Love that the roles here were reversed - bad girl and good guy. A steamy romance with some smokin HOT scenes and plenty of angst, a little suspense, and romance that builds with a satisfying conclusion. Well written and characters that had a nice amount of back story. What's not to love? 5 stars from me!
Characters: 5/5 Plot: 4.5/5 Word Building: 4.5/5 Story Flow: 4.5/5
Hope is a thief. She meets men and before they wake up she steals from them until she meet Rowe. Rowe is a different story, he’s a cop and she can’t let him know who she really is or what she does for a living. Does Rowe really know who Hope is? Can he separate his job from his heart. Get love story about two totally different ways of life. Loved this story.
Hope Hayes has become addicted to stealing. With the death of her parents when she was 19 she began to steal money in order to pay bills but now she finds herself in it partly as an addiction.
Rowe Falk is a detective who is inverstiagting a woman who has been stealing cheques from the men she has been with and cashing them. He feels as though he could be getting close but the woman appears differently each time.
When Rowe meets a woman named Ashlyn at the bar he goes home with her and is intrigued by her. Will she be the one for him but what will happen when he figures it all out?
This book was great with some twists and turns to keep you wondering what was going to happen next.
I liked Hope and felt bad that her life had turned so upside down from her actions. I knew initially she was afraid but then she became so addicted to stealing that she couldn't stop. Yet you could see that she had a different side with her one decision who not to steal from.
Rowe had faced his own share of heartbreak and I loved how he slowly put all of the pieces together and discovered things. Yet he took a turn I thought he was going to take but was really unsure.
The two together were definitely hot and had chemistry! Yet I was curious if that was going to be enough.
The scene when Rowe and Hope were out for dinner definitely got me nervous!
The end was great and I was shocked at where it happened!

I loved Hope and Rowe. Would love to read more of them. I couldn’t put this boom down. When it comes to this author you can’t help but enjoy and want more of her characters. You get sucked in the moment you start reading it. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know if he arrest her or not. Awesome job!!
