As an Award Winning and International Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Best Selling Author, I have always been an avid reader. I joke that I "cut my romance teeth" on the old historical romance books. I’ve written as a hobby for over 30 years. In 2014, I finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.
My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. From there I have continued with the romantic suspense Alvarez Security Series and now the Saints Protection & Investigation Series.
My books are filled with sweet romance and hot sex; mystery, suspense, real life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with. I worked as a counselor in a high school and have been involved in education for the past 30 years. I recently retired and now can spend more time devoted to my writing.
I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 35 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters. When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!
So I'll admit I was hella nervous about this one. After book 3, which was a novella, crashed and burned in my opinion, I thought maybe Jordan just couldn't write novellas. However, this one was great! I ended up enjoying it a lot.
Protecting Love follows Patrick, Angel's Special Forces brother that is about to get out of the military. After two tours of Afghanistan and years of service, he's ready to get out of the Army and join his sister in Virginia. What he doesn't expect is to fall in love beforehand.
Evie, meanwhile, has no intentions of ever moving again. Raised an Army brat, she's tired of starting a new life. Now that she's got a job in California, even though it's not the one she wants, she's prepared to stay put for good. However, with Patrick entering her life, she's reconsidering everything she's ever known.
So this was short and hella fun to read. I loved Patrick and Evie. Both were smart and well aware of what they were doing. And HONEST. So Patrick had this big secret and I can't tell you how many times I've read where the secret doesn't come out until the end. No, instead he straight up told her about it and they spent the book working through it. It was nice to see him avoid the douchebag move and just be real with her. Plus, it made their relationship more authentic.
I just adored Protecting Love. It has the elements of romantic suspense that I've enjoyed in the Saints Protection and Investigations series in a shorter story that entertained and kept me turning pages.
Evie grew up as an army brat, never feeling settled anywhere and was looking for the safety and security of staying in one place and finding a home. She has found a job with potential future and place that feels comfortable to settle down.
"I thought if I stayed in one place, then I’d be safe. I’d be happy. I thought I’d be in control.” Shrugging while throwing her hands up to the side, she added, “But today showed me that no matter how much I plan… life changes all around me. So, I either let it just happen to me or I decide to come out of my safe zone myself and take some chances.”
When part of a military shipment goes missing, Army Captain Patrick Cartright starts investigating and finds more than he bargained for including the beautiful engineer Evie. But his time in California is short and he will soon be moving across the country to Virginia.
“Baby, I promise, I’ll always be a safe place for you. You decide to take a chance… I’ll be your safe harbor and your adventure."
I really love this author's writing style that blends a little bit of alpha hero, insta-love, really sweet family values, and mixes in some mystery and suspense. I am left with a smile and good feelings only sad to say good bye to these characters, but hoping to see them pop up again in future books.
*Authors copy* I usually stay away from short stories but even when this was short it was great! I thought it would feel rushed and it wasn't it still had the romance and suspense which is what I love about her books. Evelyn is such a strong girl, she is an engineer and since not many women or jobs in her field she takes a sales job while waiting for a spot to open in the company.Patrick (who is Angel's brother) is so close to leaving the military and joining the saints team, so while he waits he is in California but he doesn't think he would end up finding the women he loves. These two are cute together and I was happy to see Dude from Susan Stokers book. I thought it was going to be weird to see these two collide because I've read books like it but don't come out great but it turned out great.
‘Saints Protection & Investigation - A private investigation business, pulling together men from the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police, devoted to the missions that no one else wanted or could solve.’
Protecting Love is the seventh book in the Saints Protection & Investigations series by Maryann Jordan. After seeing this series pop up several times as recommendations from friends on social media, I knew I needed to check them out. But when I went to purchase one to explore, I found I had several waiting on my Kindle that I hadn't even read yet ..... so I quickly set about remedying that. This is an engrossing twelve-book journey that blends romantic suspense with high-stakes investigative drama. The core of the series follows a private investigation business composed of men with backgrounds in the CIA, FBI, ATF, DEA, Border Patrol, SEALs, and police – all are individuals uniquely suited to tackle missions no one else can handle. This military-trained ensemble ensures plenty of adrenaline-fueled action while also maintaining a more personal element through the romantic subplots. Each book introduces us to strong, alpha male MMCs who are then paired with resilient, intelligent women. The complex interplay between duty and romance gives the characters relatable motivation and plenty of growth. Ms. Jordan crafted tightly woven storylines, ranging from kidnapping rescues and cartel confrontations to counterterrorism and high-tech investigations. Each mission is distinct, often escalating in danger and complexity, which maintained the suspense throughout the stories/series. The romances are an integral part of the storyline/s - offering steamy interactions that complement the suspenseful storylines. Relationships develop naturally under the pressure of shared danger, enhancing the emotional stakes without overwhelming the investigation plots. Maryann Jordan balances intense action, emotion, and steamy romance - creating a binge-worthy collection I recommend for readers who appreciate edge-of-your-seat suspense, alpha-type heroes, strong heroines, and high-stakes missions. Happy Reading…
We were introduced to Patrick Cartright in "Honor Love" when Monty falls in love with his sister Angel. This is his novella.
Patrick is back in CA finishing up his time in the Army. He was asked to join his future brother in law at the Saints Protection and Investigations office. Patrick still needs to decide one way or the other when he meets Evelyn Sinclair. They meet because some parts the Army has ordered from the company she works for go missing and he comes in to see what the company will do about the situation. From their things take a turn towards the mysterious and they embark on a mission to determine just exactly what is going on and why the theft isn't reported.
Patrick and Evie, as he nicknames her, saw each other once before their official meeting and while they only admired each other's bodies from afar. Evie is reluctant to get involved because he is in the Army and she is an Army brat that never really put down roots growing up. She longs for that now and doesn't want to move again.
The story is fast paced and it's love at first sight. Evie needs to reconcile a few things within herself and how she grew up before she can let herself fall for Patrick and all her offers. Love hits them like lightening, quick and full of electricity.
Patrick will be an awesome addition to the crew of alpha men that already make of Saints Protection & Investigations!
I really enjoyed this one! It took no time to read and is packed with suspense and steam. The newest Saint (well he will be in a few months) is Patrick, Angel’s brother. He has a desk job his last few months in the Army and finds part of a shipment of equipment going overseas is missing. He meets with beautiful Evelyn, aka Evie, who is an engineer temporarily working in sales until an engineer position opens up. He manages to screw up royally when he comes off too strong and rile Evie up. After he apologizes the two team up to find the missing equipment. Monty, Angel and Cam come to California to help while Luke does his computer magic. I loved the part with Patrick and his grandfather teaching him how to put things together. Luke has to work hard to get his girl and keep her safe.
OMG! How did I miss Patrick's story? Ok, now this is about Patrick and Evie. They spotted each other at the condo she was staying. Evie's talents were not being utilized at her place of work but when she finds out that part of a hugh order goes missing, she wants to help Patrick - who found out the missing order - figure out where the missing order went to. The story gets more intense towards the end but Patrick saves Evie while exposing the bad guy. Evie takes the chance and moved with Patrick to Virginia to start their happily ever after life together. FANTASTIC job Maryann! I would recommend this novella.
Evie and Patrick meet when a delivery from her company to the military is short. It was not a pleasant meeting for either of them.
When she runs into Patrick again in a social setting, the question arises of the investigation into the missing parts. This gets both of them thinking of the possibility of theft as opposed to just a mistake.
As Evie and Patrick grow closer personally so does the evidence of organized theft.
This is a wonderful slow build of a relationship, fraught with doubts and plenty of heat. The added suspense of the missing equipment will keep you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath.
Protecting Love by Maryann Jordan proves that taking chances can bring true love. Evie is a woman who likes things planned out and doesnt deviate from the plan. If you do you lose control. When she meets Patrick everything gorsout of control and Evie isn't sure what to do. This book has all the bells and whistles that Jordan is known fir and a sweet love story with a suspenseful background. Loved it.
In this series I am not a fan of the novella. I know it is about Angel’s brother and he ends up working with the Saints, but it isn’t the same passion and in depth brotherhood of the Saint’s relationships. The action story and live story is too short and does not have the same crescendo as the original guys. Patrick and Evie are a good match with both being engineers and their love is special.
Where do all these story ideas come from? It is a wonder, however I only hope she doesn't ever stop. The characters were not established Saints, but you will remember meeting Patrick previously. You will see from this tale how he is definitely a good fit with our resident heroes. The heroine of this book is a keeper too! It won't take long for your heart to be fully invested in this beautiful couple and the beginning of their HEA.
I’ve not read any of Maryann’s Saints series before so this was my first book of the series but it won’t be the last. Patrick is leaving the military when he meets Evelyn. They meet when a shipment goes missing, they start working together to resolve the mystery of the missing shipments. Whilst working together they become attracted to each other and their relationship evolves rapidly. Then all hell lets loose as the mystery is uncovered. Brilliant book, loved it.
Protecting Love: They met from a distance and Evie saw him and thought he was gorgeous but than she saw his dog tags and said to her no way. Then they met for business reasons and she could believe it was him and he was even more gorgeous up close. They had a connection when they were going over things. It was a wonderful story!
I enjoyed this book immensely. Mystery, attraction, growing and moving outside comfort zones...what's not to like right. This was a great addition to the Saints series and the tie in with Susan Stoker's Seals series made it just that much better.
Patrick wanted to get to know Evie the first time he saw her. She pretty much brushed him off. After the second meeting he really wanted more. By the third all bets were off. He just had to keep her safe first. Great book in the series.
This is one where I could barely remember the characters names. The storyline is okay. I wish there was a little more story development and a few less sex scenes. I like a book with steam but not so much there's as many pages of sex as story.
It was easy to catch on that this was part of a series. Even not having read the others, I got the story. Evie needed to be slapped several times. Didn’t like how Dude was written.
Loved this one. Finished in 1 day. When I first read about Angels brother Patrick I didn’t think much about him however reading his story now I adore him.
I loved this book by Maryann Jordan. I also loved these characters. I can’t wait for the next book in series. I would recommend this book and all of Maryann’s books.
What wisdom from a grandpa… When you fall in love and build a relationship… “Take care of it, cherish it, protect it… it will last a lifetime”. This book is 5 big stars!
It takes two special authors to mesh together both Susan Stoker's SEALs and Maryann Jordan's Saints for a kick a** book.
Evelyn Sinclair is confronted with part of the Army Corp of Engineers shipment missing. But when she meets Patrick Cartwright who's due to wrap up his career with the Army very soon she goes on the defensive immediately. Little does Patrick know that when he meets Eve that she's exactly what his grandfather said the person he want in his life forever. It will take time to convince her but she's worth everything but there may be a little danger thrown in before they both admit it to themselves.
Patrick Cartwright knows he has to get to the bottom of the missing supplies but first he needs to convince Evie that it could be GMS the company she works for not the military. It will take the Saints Agency, Dude (formerly a SEAl), tech guru Rex and Luke from the Saints Agency to find the person but what a wild ride to the finish it is.
Future engineer Evelyn ‘Evie’ Sinclair and Capt. Patrick Cartright had a silent moment when they saw each other across a crowded pool, they went to bed dreaming of each other. Things were not so magical when they met days later when Patrick represented the Army making a formal complaint, in person, about a shipment shortage. Evie offered a low compensation to clear the issue but Patrick was having none of it. Days later he called for dinner and an informal meeting, she accepted.
Getting to know each other over drinks, Evie shared as military brat she had no desire to ever move while Patrick aware he would be moving cross-country in a matter of months tried to stick to the business at hand; neither was satisfied with the non-answers they got about the shipment shortage and decide to investigate. Working closely, they chase leads and think they have it resolved when Evie finds herself in a warehouse with an armed gunman! Rating: 3.75stars
