She wants to run from her past...... Now I’ve tasted her, I won’t let her go…
Sam
I’ve never been a forever kind of guy. I knew I had to make her mine. Little did I know, there’s more to her than meets the eye. She’s a woman with a deadly secret. A secret that’s already cost one man his life. I see fire on the horizon, but we’ll stand and fight by her side. No more running. My club brothers and I will help her. Protect her. Then, her past comes knocking. Someone wants in to her business. Her father. A man who has been missing her whole life. Though she just wants to run, we want her to stay. She’ll make a stand for freedom; I’ll be by her side. Can she survive a face down with the man who wants her dead, or will a fresh start with me be impossible to realize? Either way, I have to find out. She’s mine now…For bad or worse.
I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
I really want to like this series because there's some good characters and parts to the story. This first one was just too packed with all the characters the author wanted to intro for the series. Five MC or so, each with a bunch of guys. Maybe if there had been more focus on the two main characters, I'd have gotten into it a bit more. As it turns out, the main couple's story goes into the next book too. To be honest, I'm also trying to figure out which book(s) belong the couples already shown in this book - just a little bit confusing without a reading order guide provided in the book. Will try a few more but might not be for me.
Awesome! You can’t get much better than this series. Now we have Deke’s dad, Sam front and center. I didn’t know that a “grandpa” biker could be so flippin hot! Melora though the same thing. She is a woman on the run from some nasty bikers who need her dead after what she witnessed. She had been running for two years and Sam discovered her in his bike shop and he knew he needed to know more about Melora.
This book gives it all to you from hot and steamy scenes to murder and betrayal. Bikers band together to help this woman out. I know I sound like a broken record but this series and keep me captivated and I highly recommend it. Now off to read the next in this series.
This book is underdeveloped. Very unbelievable. The way the woman spoke to the members of the MC was ridiculous. That would never happen. Never. Other MC's would never come into another MC's clubhouse and act this disrespectful. I think this author maybe should do a little more research on a MC lifestyle. I had an extremely hard time to even finish this book. I kept trying to give it a chance. The only reason I am giving this book 2 stars is because the story had promise, and because I liked the strength of the main character.
DNF. Do not waste your time on this book/series. Saying The writing is terrible is a huge understatement. I lasted through the prologue and half of Ch 1 and had to call it quits. This author makes the writing in FSOG seem on par with Jane Austen.....
Melora witnessed a crime two years ago and has been running ever since. There's a killer chasing her and he will stop at nothing to catch and eventually kill her. He gets off on torture doled out at the end of his blade. She knows the stakes and takes no chances. She's been living on the run; in her car, abandoned buildings, anywhere that allows her some measure of safety.
Sam is an older man and a part of an MC. He's aware that someone is out there, watching. He's not shocked when he finds evidence that someone has been in his shop. He decides to wait as long as it takes to catch the intruder. He doesn't have to wait long.
Melora has been breaking into the shop to use the shower and the kitchen. She's making her nightly foray when she's grabbed and thrown to the floor. After realizing the intruder is a beautiful young woman, he's attracted to her but pushes that from his mind. She won't give him any information about why she's there. Hell, she won't even tell him her name. He does the only thing he can; he decides to keep her until he finds out her motive and what's she's running from because that much is immediately obvious.
She's not being looked for by just one person though. She has a bounty on her head and three powerful men that will stop at nothing to find her. Each have their own reason for needing her found. She has been able to stay one step ahead but her luck is running out.
Trouble comes for her and catches Sam and his MC in the middle. They're prepared and willing to die to protect what is now theirs. Will it come that? How many bodies will fall?
I found a few issues that drew me out of the story. One was word misusage. It happened at least twice: physic instead of physique and substance instead of sustenance. They're an easy fix though and didn't mangle the story.
I had a few other issues. For one, you'll have to read the story. All I'll say is the tiger is way too over the top for me. You may love it. My biggest hurdle in the story is one the happens in too many stories. She's a virgin at 24, but decides after being kidnapped by him and held barely 24 hours that she has to have sex with him? Um, okay. From there, it's pretty much a case of mutual instalove.
As for the writing, it's not bad. The flow isn't choppy. There aren't any flashbacks or time jumps. It's a very linear story, told reasonably well. Continuity is nearly seamless. I wasn't bothered by anything major.
Sexually the book is a little unwordy for my tastes. I know this is really a novella but still it lacks description where I really really want it. I'm a pervert, no shame. Each encounter is basically the same. Give me something I can hang my hat on (or hang his hat on, if you know what I mean).
The ending ties up the story for the two mains but the other characters are waiting for their turn. I quickly snatched up book 2 and think you will too.
K.J. Dahlen, you have a new fan for life and I am so happy for whatever gave you the courage and mindset to become an Author. I read daily and I love MC books. Silk & Bones is everything you would imagine an MC to be. The creative way you suck reader's in from page one and have them riveted to each word is amazing. Silk & Bones is incredibly unique in that it brings several clubs together with a common interest. I do not want to give away the plot, however, I strongly encourage reader's that are looking for a strong/independent woman and the man that is her match in every way, to devour this addictive story as I have. Merry, aka, Melora, is done running and has found even more strength inside herself after meeting Sam, aka, Bones. Since the tender age on 10, she's been on her own. Not anymore though. Silk & Bones is packed with drama, clubs, vengeance as well as an intense chemistry to spare between these two stubborn souls. I loved it and can not wait to read Karma's Bite. Superbly Written Book.
I voluntarily requested an advanced reader's copy of Silk & Bones in exchange for my honest opinion and I highly recommend reading it. Should you not be familiar with Dahlen's work then why not give this a chance and see the talent displayed throughout.
Melora has been on her own for awhile since she went from foster home to foster home. Learning pretty early she couldn't count on anyone but herself. One night she witnesses something that has to on the run in order to stay alive. When she gets caught on club property Sam tries to find out who she is and what she is up to. She ends up going home with him and letting everything that had happened spill out. They both know she is in serious trouble and go to the MC Club for help. However will they be able to protect her from the threat to her? And is it just the bad guys that is looking for her?
This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. Sparks flew between Melora and Sam and kept you turning the pages to find out what would happen next. This is a well written and very entertaining book. I would recommend it to anyone that loves MC stories.
i read this book as part of an arc program. In this book, Melora (Silk) is running from another MC after she witnessed something she shouldn't have. She has been hiding for two years and when Sam (Bones) finds her after she broke into the auto shop, he takes her to his house to find out what she is running from. Melora doesn't want to tell Sam anything, but she feels a connection to him. When Melora tells Sam she is running from a man named Whiskey, he heard of him and he wants to help her. Sam brings Melora to the MC and they stand behind her, and when another visitor comes looking for Melora, it is not what she expected. Sam claims Melora as his own and will protect her at all costs. I love this story and thought Melora was a smart woman. I think Sam and Melora were great together. I love how protective Sam was and how he and Melora cared about each other regardless of what anyone thought. Great one.
Melora's character is one that I liked most of the time and the rest of the time she really got on my nerves. She presented as street smart savvy and is not afraid to stand up to anybody regardless of who they are. I loved that! On the flipside she had some serious forgiveness issues that cloud her judgment and presented her personally from moving forward. I'm not throwing any stones at her, because forgiveness can be very difficult when dealing with hurt feelings. Sam's character really did not give me the "oh he's so hot I wish he was real feel." I vacillated with him from his intuitive gut feeling smarts to him presenting as a daddy not so daddy figure who is there to comfort and protect. I don't know about him yet the jury still out. I think I would've preferred someone with more. It's a good read, with action and mystery, compiled with the whole MC theme. Enjoy!
Read For Author: I am actually loving KJ Dahlen's MC Series so much they are Suspenseful and sexy. The characters are colorful and their stories are heartwrenching. Sam Tory in a Bastard of the highest order or he use to be now he is a part of the new MC Sin's Bastards which includes three MC's that joined to bring families together. Sam sensed someone had lurking about but wasn't sure until he caught the lovely young Melora sneaking into their custom Bike Shop one night. Melora had been on the run for two years - she wanted a hot shower a just a place to fix some hot food. She had been watching the older man and was attracted to him but didn't know what she was in for. Can Sam protect Melora from what's about to comer her way and the surprises in store for her and will the fact that he's old enough to be her father make a difference in their relationship?
Book 1 takes off where book 3 of Satan's Spawns end and the three MC's come together forming Sins Bastards MC. This storyline introduces Melora who is on the run and stumbles across Sam, Deke's dad. Thus sets into motion an action packed story of a long lost reunion, confrontation, rivalries coming together to help one another. This is a very well written storyline that flows effortlessly from chapter to chapter keeping the reader guessing to who are all the bad ones in the picture. The characters are all unique even though they are in an MC. They are dynamic and energetic. Warning: There is violence toward women which may serve as a trigger. Recommending as a good read. (Note: I was provided an Advanced Review Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
This is the first book I have read by K.J. Dahlen and I LOVED it. Overlooking some of the typos and grammatical errors (which was few) I had a hard time putting this book down. Unfortunately at 1.30 a.m. I had to stop to get a few z's to adult the next day. That's how great a story this is. Love can be found in the most unsuspecting circumstance as proved in this romance. Gritty MC's, girl on the run being hunted for witnessing a crime, intrigue leads to desire and discovery of that eternal love. What more could you ask for? I will be reading the next in the series. Opinions are my own and unbiased in this review after reading this book borrowed through KU.
Bones {Sam} has moved his Mc to Troy Ny to be closer to his Son. They are running a Bike shop and things are settling down, but Sam keeps feeling like he's being watched and can't shake it! Coming in to work, he notices a smell of cooked food, thinking maybe one of the guys Could have made it, but maybe not! So when the shop closed, he stayed behind and caught the culprit! What he didn't know was, he had a whole new thing starting with his little chef! On the run from trouble Silk just wanted hot food and a shower and got WAY more! And she landed in the right place! But she also brought trouble to the MC with her!
I must say there was a LOT going on in this one novel. It had a hellified adventure. Lots of bad a$$ Alpha bikers. And hot scenes to flip your lid. Melora is a lost soul just looking out for herself. Keeping everything above water since she lost a loved one. Life altering situations made her flee for her life and straight into the arms of Sam AKA Bones. Bad boy biker who was a loner and didn't expect the excitement of Ms. Melora. Together they swng on a bad a$$ adventure into loving and a gathering of some bad MCs. This was a good book; albeit had two confusing moments but overall a damn fine read.
DNFed...UGH! I think i'm either in a reading rut or the ones I've been picking lately are just not up to par. This one made me roll my eyes over and over again. The story had potential and so do the characters but it was so unrealistic and rushed that I couldn't finish it. I like Bones(Sam) he was sweet, but can't stand Melora she's super annoying. The insta-sex-love thing made me cringe, that coupled with the multiple no condom use(in less than 24 hours of meeting) especially when he didn't know anything about her was very unsettling. Normally that wouldn't turn me off of a book but with all the other stuff I just can't get into it. I'm sad, I had high hopes...:(
Wow! This is one of those books that sucks you in from the first few pages and doesn't let you go, even after you finish it! It picks up where Satan's Spawns ends. The heart of the story is Melora, who has been running for the last two years. She ends up behind Sam's shop and things take off from there. This is an action packed, tense, gritty, suspenseful story that has it's sweet and tender and oh so passionate moments! I don't want to spoil anything, you need to read it and fall into the Sin's Bastards world!
Melora knows that the only way she will survive is to keep moving. Bones can feel someone watching him and is determined to find out who. Instantly drawn together, but others are against it. Will Melora finally find a safe place to land? Will Bones find someone he can't let go of?
I loved these two! I loved seeing this side of Bones and how despite what was going on he was determined to protect her and be there. I loved how strong Melora was and how she put her foot down and wouldn't let others walk all over her. Great read!

This is the first book I've read by this author and I am hooked. This is a MC romance, as well as a younger woman/older man romance with some suspense and danger thrown in. I liked that Melora was tough as nails but could also show some vulnerability. I loved Sam. He quickly became Melora's protector and wasn't going to let what anyone thought get in their way. If you like MC and/or younger woman/older man romances I would recommend reading this one. I'm looking forward to reading book two. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
This is the first book in a new MC series from this talented author. This is Sam’s who is Deke’s dads MC. Melora witnesses something she should not have and is now on the run. Sam and Melora are attracted to each other despite the age difference, and he will protect her by any means possible. This is a gripping story, which had me hooked and intrigued throughout. I look forward to reading the next book in this awesome series, and I highly recommend this authors’ work for all MC lovers out there.
Yep! I loved this one. Sam is a great character and the mystery Melora was the ideal woman to catch his eye. She was a strong woman, on the run for two years from some bikers from hell who want her dead because she witnessed a murder. Sam discovers her in his bike shop while she’s searching for shelter. He knows he has to know more about Melora and takes her home. There’s a good mystery in this book, and has all the suspense and betrayal that kept me wanting more. And Sam and Melora get hot and steamy as their relationship gets close and personal which is always fun. A great read
Sam (Bones) and Melora (Silk)...what a trip!!!! I liked Sam a lot more in this book then in the previous one...I liked how he was with Melora. I loved Melora.....she has quite the mouth on her and she doesn't give a shit who she stands up to. So far there's a pattern with the women in this series and the previous - shit childhoods - lost in the system - living on the streets and learning to survive them. That's ok though because they all have their own unique personalities. I loved all the characters in this book also - the familiar one and the new one's. What will happen next???
Wow! I didn’t think these guys could get any hotter, but I was wrong! Sam, aka Bones, has finally gotten his wish and is a part of his sons life. He never expects to find himself and the club battling against another psycho, but they are. Melora has shown up out of the blue and man does she have a story to tell. She and Izzy bring a whole new chapter to this fantastic MC and I cannot wait to see what happens next! I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
First book in the spin off series of Satan’s Spawns. Melora & Sam just click with each other. Growing up in foster care & on her own she sees something she’s not suppose to see & goes on the run for her life. 2 years later she lands in Troy & Sam finds her in the shop. He takes her home to be safe & sparks fly from there. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series & visiting with old friends that continue in the series along with a twist for Melora with new members.
Wow! This book is intense! It’s gritty and dark with lots of suspense. Melora is an amazing character-strong and soft all the same. Dahlen wrote an amazing book to start this series! I’ve already read the second book (accidentally) and I can tell you that the drama and excitement continues on! Can’t wait to get me hands on the third! I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review.
I was provided an ARC of this book and this is my honest review..... As much as I liked the Satan’s Spawn series, this was just an OK read. Bones(Sam) was a jerk through most of that series and quite frankly, pretty unredeemable through most of this book, and the next. The best part is Melora, she’s well written, interesting, and pretty likable. The book moves quickly, was a good continuation of the previous series and a solid start to the new one.
I haven't had the best of luck finding good MC romance books lately. I really did enjoy this one. It had a wonderful plot and I didn't skim a single part. I did find that the romance part of the story was lacking though. It was more focused on the plot as a whole and not really building the relationship between the two main characters. However, I'm going straight into the next one because i really loved this book. I just hope the romance part is a bit better.
