At first I didn't know what to make of this series. I thought it'd be similar to the original story and it is, for the most part. it is the differences which are growing on me and making this into a different story altogether. I like it.
This covers a few new Zentradei such as Azonia and Miriya, but the mission to enter a Zentradei battlecruiser lead to some fascinating developments for Rick and Lisa. The story of Roy Fokker is also subtly different, but this is an interesting twist.
All in all this new series is appealing. The art is good and the world is familiar but the subtle differences make me want to read more. Already grabbed the 4th volume of this series. While people used to the original story will find much in common, there are some great differences and that makes this interesting.
The series is starting to heat up with some good mysteries and fun action. The dialogue can be cheesy especially with Rick but he has a cool development in this issue with his sight. The SDF-1 is what I want to learn more about but they are teasing it pretty good. The mystery around Ray is cool with the doppelganger. Sadly vol.3 is the last issue at my work so I am done for now. Maybe Ill pick up a few more volumes at a con or something....oh wait cons arent happening...sad face.
Whoa. (Spoilers) We're not even to Force of Arms yet and we've already got appearances by the Regis and T.R. Edwards? And I don't see how Max and Miryia can possibly get from here to there after what happens in this volume? So yeah, this thing is way of the rails of the original, but the changes are what's keeping me reading. I'm enjoying it, but still wonder whether anyone who wasn't familiar with the original story would. It's moving so fast, I don't think you have to time to fall in love with the characters the way you did on the show.
This was a fun little side-adventure of sorts that includes some great moments that lead to other character arcs in the future. It doesn't make sense for a commanding officer to lead a rescue mission that could jeopardize their other goal of heading home to Earth, but hey this is how science fiction often works (cue Star Trek).
This book continues to reveal more of the politics driving the enemies and hints at why thy are so upset by our "Micronian" heroes.
A lot of stuff in this volume. This volume includes the issues where the story really takes a different track than the original universe. I thought we would get more from Edwards in this volume, but no luck yet. I enjoyed the interactions of the Zentraedi and the humans, it was a good reminder of the old series.
