USA TODAY Bestselling author Kathy Ivan can’t remember a time when books and reading weren’t a part of my daily life. I was blessed with a mother who instilled the love of reading in me at a young age. That progressed into a passion for the written word in all forms, which led to my writing. Every day I have new stories and new ideas roaming through my brain, the characters chomping at the bit for their turn to be front and center and have their story told. Today that love of storytelling translates into my desire to write and share my stories with others. I write in many genres, but I’m currently concentrating on romantic suspense and paranormal.
My day job is about as uncreative as it gets. I do medical transcription, spending numerous hours at the computer each day trying to decipher the mumbled, garbled and often unrecognizable words the physicians are dictating, in an effort to make a complete and comprehensive patient record. It’s almost as bad as trying to read their handwriting!
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, I’ve lived in various places throughout my youth, from California to Hawaii and back to Florida (Key West), before finally settling in Texas. I make my home outside Dallas, Texas with my spoiled black lab (Missy).
I am a member of Romance Writers of American and the Dallas Area Romance Authors (DARA), where I’m an active member; you can find me at the local meetings each month.
That’s about it off the top of my head. I love talking with other readers and writers, so feel free to contact me.
After being kidnapped by her date and held in his mobster father's house (where they witnessed a murder) in Saving Sarah, Savannah Sloane has moved back to San Diego and is attempting to get on with her life. However, when she's being threatened by her dead ex's homicidal mobster father, there's one person she can call - Stefan Carlisle.
Computer expert Stefan Carlisle has developed a long-distance friendship with Savannah since her kidnapping, one with the possibility of turning into something more once Savannah is ready. However, when she is in danger, he drops everything to go to her side, willing to put himself between her and the man who is threatening her.
Like the rest of Kathy Ivan's Cajun Connection books, this is a great romantic suspense novel. Ivan knows how to successfully mix romance, action, and suspense, and her hero and heroine are smart, spunky, and definitely made for each other.
Mmm... an awful lot of errors in chapter 13... Bogey & Javier arrived... suddenly Javier became Mozart then Benny was mentioned... see, if an author wants to 're-write' their own book in order to re-market it as part of a series... 'Cajun Connections' rather than the 'Special Forces: Operation Alpha' world... no problem! BUT... make sure that you pick up every name change please. Disrupts the read and pisses me off!
Don't get it... not at all... what is the point of this edit?
What an awesome book! I loved every minute of it and hated to see it end. It kept me wondering what would happen next. Great cast of characters and very well written. It is full of surprises and romance.
I haven't read any of the other books in Susan Stoker's Operation Alpha series but I enjoyed this abbreviated thriller written by Kathy Ivan. Buff computer geek extraordinaire Stefan Carlisle drops everything at home in New Orleans when Savannah Sloane calls, in desperate need of his help in San Diego. Months ago Stefan and his investigative team helped rescue Anna from the clutches of a madman and now she's being emotionally abused and Stefan will do anything he can for the wounded beauty he's become infatuated with. This storyline with a believable paranormal twist kept me on the edge of my seat but the overnight romance angle kept this from being a 5 star read for me. I know the novella length of this thriller tends to hurry the romantic aspects of the story but I thought the instant "love" was slightly premature in the case of this heroine and I give this review 4.5 stars. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in this voluntary review are completely my own.
Susan Stoker is one of my all time favorite authors, so when I heard that Kathy Ivan (another one of my favs) was writing a book in Susan's Kinde World, I was stoked! I loved getting a glimpse of other characters that I have already read about, and the way Kathy Ivan wove her story into the characters she used made it seem like the stories are continuing. Let's do this again in six months and continue the stories!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, action, light mystery, Seals books, or just anyone who likes to read!
I loved this book! I read it in in just a few hours . I was so caught up in the story of Stefan and Savannah I couldn't put it down. Savannah deeply scared by events in her past, once again becomes threatened by the past. Stefan comes to the rescue with the help of our favorite Seals. this book is definitely a page turner til the very end.
Predictable plot. What happened between chapters 21 and 22? Chapter 21 ends with a mention of a plan to capture the bad guy. Chapter 22 opens with a Savannah (Anna) missing. That name change was bothersome. There is nothing that explains the missing time frame. I don't think there were missing pages, but I wondered.
This is one of my favorite series, and I've been waiting impatiently for Carlisle's book. He's the total package, hot and smart. I loved the tie with Sarah's book. Great characters and good storyline. I loved it. I voluntarily reviewed this book and was not compensated in any way.
Saving Savanah was amazing. I probably would never have discovered Kathy if it was for Susan Stoker introducing her in her Special Forces Kindle World. Forever a fan now.
Savannah had been held a prisoner by a father and son after witnessing the father kill his biggest competitor in the New Orleans underworld. After being rescued and watching the son being killed she has returned to her parents home in San Diego to recover. She is shattered and terrified to receive a package whose contents could have only come from one person, the father.
Stefan Carlisle is the only person she can turn to that knows all her background and was instrumental in her rescue from hell. Taking a vacation from his job with Carpenter Security Services in New Orleans, Stefan rushes to help her. With his computer skills, SEAL Team friends and help from his boss and friends at work, Stefan knows they can find the man terrorizing Savannah and put him behind bars permanently.
I like how the author has brought together characters from her different series and blended them into one very entertaining world. This was a fast paced adventure that kept me turning the pages. You could feel Savannah's terror and despair leap off the pages as the psycho father pursued her. The characters, settings, theme and romantic angle blend into must read stories that anyone will enjoy!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest opinion and fair review.
I truly loved this book. It would have gotten a very good rating if not for one thing. But first…
Savannah- this girl had my heart from the first book. The author did an amazing job with her character development. We see strength and panic attacks. We see her trying to overcome being kidnapped and raped. Where we see a strong and fighting woman, we also see a scared girl.
Stefan- (ugh on the name) I thought this character was perfectly written. Protective and caring, but not to the point of overbearing. He loves Savannah so well, and is so cautious with her, full of kindness and understanding.
Ok. So towards the climax of the plot. We read about a plan, a plan that is whispered to Stefan, a plan that they think is great, but what was it? We jump from safe and plans to locked in a coffin. Given later in the chapter we get clarity as to how she got in the coffin… but readers are left with a “huh” for a bit. If not for this I would have given the book an A. Overall still a great read.
What can I say, great story with new characters and ones that I have come to love are in the story too, win win for me. Savannah Sloane held against her will after witnessing murder, she was finally freed and is beginning to move on with her life. But her worst nightmare comes back to torment her. Stefan Carlisle, drops everything when she calls him, she already was on his mind, but now her enemy has surfaced and Stefan is determined to protect her and get rid of her nightmare. With the help of his friends and the Seals.
Saving Savannah: I like that it was a continuation from the first book. I like that Kathy Ivan chose to show the challenges that Savannah went through from her rape and being captured. It shows what women go through from attacks. It also show that they can have second chances with really love. I liked how Stefan was there for her and the attraction he had for her showed. It had great dialog and fantastic writing. Great story.
Stefan Carlisle and his team had rescued Savannah Sloane. She ask him to stay that night at the hospital where she could sleep. They communicate some. When she got a package she though her past was coming back or should I say the father of the man that kidnapped her. Stefan was going on vacation but got a phone call from Savannah. He drops everything and goes to help her. He gets help to keep her safe. They both have feelings for each other
Savannah is an amazing woman! She has so much strength, just like all of the heroines in Susan Stoker’s books. She found the love of an equally amazing man in Stefan! He has waited a year for her, slowly getting to know her, and now she needs him to keep her safe once again. He answers the call and they find their way to be together.
I'm so glad Savannah got her story. She is one strong lady. When Savannah starts receiving reminders of her horrific past, she calls the one person she can trust, Stefan Carlisle. Stefan drops everything to go be by her side. When he confirms it's Aristides who is sending her the reminders, it's up to him and his SEAL friends to stop him before it's too late.

Oh, wow! What an excellent written story. I had just finished one of the author's works and was into this one when the story takes place close to my neighborhood. That made it even more realistic and special. Any age may read, nice and clean. There is violence mentioned.
They had kept in touch after her rescue. When she received a piece of wall paper she called him. Stefan was just beginning his 2 week forced vacation. This was the reason to go to see her. A sweet romance, a thriller rescue as only Kathy Ivan can weave. Definitely worth the read
This book has a lot of danger, suspence, twists, and a little romance keeps you hanging on the very edge of your sea until the very end.looking forward to reading more books from this author
This is a very good story with enjoyable characters and suspense. The story moves along easily and has a happy ending. I will read more by this author.
I loved this story. The romance was s.with and seamless, in an action packed story. The anguish, fear, and determination of the characters was palpable.
