I adore this book and every one of its characters! Emma's parents have the "perfect" love story and her past relationship makes her cynical about every aspect of love and happily ever after. Jordyn is raising his son Benjamin as a single dad, while running his family's inn in England, along with his family, which includes his hilarious Aunt Penny and Gran Doris. The upcoming royal wedding sets the stage for Emma to write an article about something she just isn't sure exists any more. Once Jordyn sets his eyes on her, he is out to prove to her that she can have everything her parents have and he wants it to include him and Benji. This book gave me all the swoons with Jordy's old-fashioned English charm and the way he is with his son. It also sizzles with the chemistry and heat that he and Emma stir up.

Please take a trip across the pond, grab a cup of tea and enjoy The British Affair. As with every one of her other books, Suzanne Halliday does not disappoint.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..This book was so cute, and in a time when sometimes we just need feel good stories, this one was it. We meet Emma who has not really had much success with relationship and due to that she doesn't really believe in love and HEA's. Her parents who do have the perfect love story are on a mission to change that. When Emma is assigned to cover the royal wedding, she sees Jordyn, who is captivated by her and is going to prove to her that there us love and she can have it. You will enjoy the secondary characters who add a lot to the story..Enjoy!

Once again an entertaining and very witty book by Ms Halliday. This was a completely different type of book from the Justice series. That said her trademark snark and humour were very apparent. This author continues to surprise and delight me with her writing. Each book she writes is inherently different but still retains the style and class of a superb author. These characters were fun and the fact that they were British, and our speech is slightly different in many areas, were captured almost perfectly. Our colloquialisms are very quirky and somwas this book. Great story.

When you can pick up a book and not want to put it down you know you’re onto a winner.

Emma Perfect the American girl in England to get an insight into all that is the up-coming wedding of Prince Harry and Megan. Emma's been burned badly, a douchebag ex has left her disillusioned in love and romance. Is it really real? Her parents certainly have the fairy-tale. Her brother is a firm believer in romance. But Emma? Not so much.
Jordyn Knight, English man, single father and a firm believer in Happily Ever After. He just hasn’t managed to find it.

When these two first glimpse the other, que the swoon on both sides. Can Jordyn convince Emma that Happily Ever After is attainable? That romance does exist. Emma is resistant but Jordyn slowly breaks down her walls a piece at a time.
With a whole bunch of wonderful characters rooting for this couple you can’t help but fall in love with this story.

Snarky rollicking good times ahead that will put a massive smile on your face. Exceptionally hot and off the charts sexy times and you’re in for wonderful, magical time.
The joy is in the words. Outstanding and wish I could give more stars. #swoon

The British Affair

Suzanne Halliday

OMG! WOW! Not sure how she does it, but Suzanne has scored a knock out Bulls-eye with this one!
What do 1981 and 2018 have in common? In the UK its means the Weddings of the Century! Diana and Charles then, Harry and Meghan now!

When you take a romantically tainted US journalist, who is determined to cover the romance, plop her down in the UK, trying to generate some real out of the way, Harry and Meghan Wedding stories: stir in some pseudo-relatives, sprinkle with parties and teas, and there you have the British Affair!
Emma Perfect thought she knew those around her well. Chuckle! Her parents mean well….don’t they? Just because THEY met at Goodlove Hall does not mean she will met HER other half! Emma keeps herself out of the dating game. She got burned once!

Jordyn Goodlove Knight, Gentleman, Father, Proprietor of Goodlove Hall, was also not looking for anything to do with a romantic entanglement. He shied away from such since he had made a grievous error in judgment. But Jordy was still a romantic at heart!
Sparks fly when Jordyn and Emma meet. He can’t believe this “brash, opinionated American with not a bone of romance anywhere” could ever do justice to romance like it should be covered! Eyebrows arched, if only minds could be read! This was round one of many. Those watching should have sold tickets!

Mix in Doris Goodlove, Granny, and Penny Down, Grunty, along with Jon and Lynda Perfect, give you a meddlesome foursome not to be trifled with! The story pathway twists and turns with Perfects, Knights and Goodloves all getting to show their stuff.

I could not put this down, chuckled along the way, soaking up every romantic interlude, thoroughly enjoying it!

I was given an ARC. But the Review is all mine and freely given!

Love Greatest Challenge!!!

Emma "Em" Perfect was left at the alter by her ex-fiancé. After that heartbreaking experience, she vowed to give up on finding her knight and shinning armor and her happily ever after.

Her parents met at Charles and Diana's wedding so her mom was very hopeful that she would follow in their footsteps. When she was chosen to cover the Royal Wedding, she wondered if her boss made the right choice. Though she had reservations, she got on the plane and headed to London.

Jordyn Knight, a single dad of a nine-year-old son named Benjamin aka Benji, who believed in happy ends was searching for the perfect woman. What he didn't expect was the jilted woman who'd captivated him from the moment he saw her.

Em was attracted to Jordyn as well, she had a great rapport with Benjy who was playing matchmaker like his granny was. It didn't hurt that the little boy and Em got along perfectly.

As they spent time together, the trio started looking more and more like a family. Em's wall was slowly falling down, she loved the father/son duo to pieces and the feeling was mutual. They took their relationship to the next level. In the end she found more than she expected when she left the U.S..

The lovebirds got their HEA!

THE BRITISH AFFAIR is the third standalone installment in Suzanne Halliday's THE AFFAIR series. It was breathtakingly alluring, intriguing and oh so steamy. 5 Golden Stars!

This book was an absolute delight! The characters are believable and engaging, the storyline is sweet with a side of spicy, humorous banter between the main characters jumps from the pages, and of course, as always, you can count on a happily ever after. Both Jordyn and Emma have had less than stellar experiences in the world of romance leaving them a bit jaded, Emma more so than Jordyn, and when they meet their chemistry is quite shocking to them both. Is it possible to find the love of your life in just two weeks? This is the question Emma grapples with despite her own parent's history and HEA as proof that such love stories do, in fact, exist. Jordyn, who has dedicated his life to his son, with help from his devoted family, must work quickly to convince Emma that she is indeed his queen of hearts and he her trusted, loving, and most loyal knight.

I was looking for a light read and thought this may do the trick, but between not understanding half of what they were saying because the setting is in England and there is too much of English lingo for this American to grasp AND I found the storyline pretty boring.

Heroine was jilted by her fiancee 45 days before she was due to get married and she is hurt and down on love. She makes it clear over & over again, chapter after chapter, how she no longer believes in love & happily-ever-after. Hero on the other hand is not a manho but 10 years prior, he picked up an actress chick from a bar and had unprotected one night stand and found himself a single father (OW did not want to be a mother, so she gave him the kid). Five years after his son was born, he was in a year & a half relationship with another woman but the relationship went nowhere so he has been celibate since then as he is looking for his one & only to be in a committed relationship and that elusive HEA - though there's some confusion on this because one chapter states that he has been focused on raising his son and has no time for women since his last attempt, then in another chapter, he tells heroine that he has last been with a woman over a year & half ago. ( I guess that means he is not totally celibate since he has "hookups"?)😘

While I liked the relationship he had with his kid, that is all I really liked about this story. It's set around the time before Prince Harry/Megan Markle wedding and there was so much nonsense in the background with characters that made no sense and a slow built to the relationship/chemistry, that I lost interest and it took me weeks to finish it.

There is nothing like a Suzanne Halliday story to set your weekend "Perfect". Getting to know Ms. Emma Perfect and Mr. Jordyn Knight was funny, snarky and absolutely beautifully written. This story had so much insight of true British mannerisms and customs. I enjoyed the ride alongside Emma. My favorite moments were the tea times during her stay. I felt there were times I could smell Darjeeling tea and taste the clotted cream. The intimate/steamy scenes for this story was seriously off the charts! I probably re-read those chapters 3 times 😇. They were that well written. I loved this story because it gave me exactly what I crave from a true romance author. I was given romance, humor, snark, sexy stuff and most of all an enjoyable experience that left me truly smiling. This arc was well worth the time.

What a wonderful read! Suzanne always has the greatest skill at creating engaging, believable, likable, and memorable characters. Emma comes from a family of parents that literally ‘fell in love at first sight.’ How can she compete with that? Especially when her love life ended with a text before their wedding day? A HEA isn’t on her “to do list” and that’s okay with her. Jordyn also hasn’t had luck in the love department and with his son to raise... finding love isn’t really high on the priority list. Separately, each has their own issues to deal with. Together, the sparks fly and the proverbial Cupid is working overtime. You’ll love the witty banter and the storyline will keep you hooked until the end. Brava Suzanne Halliday... another winner!

Having grown up listening to her parents telling how the met during the Royal Wedding in 1981, Emma Perfect, is less than enthused to be sent to report on this year’s Wedding. She’s just been ditched by her own fiance and could care less about Miss Markle and Harry’s nuptials. Not even staying in the same cute B&B that her parents did will make this better.
Then she meets single dad, Jordyn, the grandson of the B&B’s owners. Emma is a spitfire and doesn’t hold back with her snarky comments but then only make Jordyn like her more. Can the romance in this year’s special event bring back the love to Emma’s life. Will she have her own Mr Perfect to take home?

This Affair series of Suzanne Halliday just gets better and better. Being a Royal follower for forever, The British Affair just brought it out in me even more. Loved everything about this book. The characters are so fun loving and caring, you cannot help but fall in love with them all. The way Suzanne incorporated real life events in the book was such a great added touch to the story. Jordyn and Emma's love story just made me smile. From the youngest person Benji to the oldest Doris, you will enjoy this fun read!

"Better get your game face on, Miss Perfect, if you want to catch the fancy of a Knight."

I really enjoyed this story! What a great reminder that knights can still save the day, and chivalry isn't dead!

Emma Perfect is the ultimate romance skeptic. How could she be anything else after her fiance calls off the wedding, moves out, and tells her to send him the bill, 45 days before their wedding - via a text message. Fairy-tales are hogwash, and true love is as rare as unicorns. So, when she gets an assignment from a world-renowned magazine to cover the ultimate fairy-tale wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan, her feelings on love are put to the test. But, the toughest part of this exam? Him. He makes her question everything she's been thinking on the subject of romance. She never pegged herself as the girl desiring hearts and flowers, but she just might make an exception for this one. Can she really open her heart, knowing it might end up shattered? If she lets him go, is she missing out at her chance of happily-ever-after?

Jordyn Goodlove Knight isn't interested in dating. His main focus is on his son, Benji. Him, and helping his Gran run the inn. Then she walks in and all bets are off. Something about her is just..... perfect. She's feisty. She's independent. She's smart. And she's sexy as hell. The more he's around her, the harder it becomes to deny the attraction. He sees a future he never thought he needed when he looks at her. But, he knows she's a non-believer in love and romance. Can he convince her that what they feel is real? That he's in this for the long haul, regardless of the obstacles in their way? He'll do what he has to do to convert this love atheist in to a devout romantic.

I loved the characters in this one. Suzanne writes strong female characters and I love that. Emma is her own woman and doesn't need a man to complete her - but she inwardly wants to belong to someone. She just needs the right man to make her see that. Jordyn is a devoted grandson and father, and has his vulnerable side, but when that bedroom door closes, there's no doubt who's in charge. He's tender and sweet, and at the same time he's dominant and alpha. The banter between these two was great - humorous and witty and I loved the play on words! Brilliant!

Great read! I'd recommend this to anyone!

Emma Perfect was left at the alter by her ex fiancée and this has left its mark on her. Emma has vowed to give up on finding her knight and her HEA. She was chosen to cover the Royal Wedding, but Emma wondered if her boss truly made the right decision. Even though she had reservations, she got on the plane and headed off to merry ole London. Jordyn Knight is a single dad of a sweet nine-year-old son named Benjamin. Jordyn believes in HEA and is now looking for the perfect woman to complete the family he has with his son. Only the perfect woman didn’t show up during his search, he ran into a whirlwind of a delight who has a bitter past and doesn’t trust true love anymore…Jordyn met Emma and there were immediate sparks, instant chemistry. Its like Cupid knew that these two belonged together and worked his magic to make it happen. Is it possible to find the love of your life when you aren’t even looking? Can you let love and trust back into your life? Follow Jordyn and Emma’s beautiful and sweet romance that occurred in just 2 weeks. This is like pure romance magic by Ms. Halliday and a fantastic summer read.

My Rating: 4.5 stars *****

Passion is the name of the game in this epic romance! This is a fabulous sweet and sexy story with great writing and a really interesting backdrop of a Royal Wedding. Two in fact. Emma’s parents cute meet and experience a HEA that began with Charles and Diana’s wedding and Emma’s chasing the most recent wedding for a HEA story and her blog. What a cast of characters she finds at the Goodlove Manor! Emma Perfect is a doubter of true love and HEAs especially after her recent fail. She’s strives for perfection in everything except love. But she arrives at the location where her parents’ fell in love only to find a Knight of charming proportions. Jordyn Knight believes in being in it for the long haul especially based on his past and his present as a single dad. I must say that Benji might be my favorite character. He’s a wonderful creation and acts like a child instead of the current overload of “precocious”. Terrific writing! As well, our couple are truly wonderful characters with so much depth and layering. Their slow build romance is spectacular along with some heat. And they both need passion in their lives. This was a superb reading experience and I hope that Dave and Lenny are next.

This book made me believe in fairytales all over again!! Meet Emma and Jordyn!! Emma is a blogger/journalist who no longer believes in happy ever afters which is understandable when your fiancee breaks up with you in a text message just before your wedding!! Seriously who does that?? Then there is Jordyn who is a hotelier and single father who reminds us that there are still white knights in the world and that chivalry isn't dead!! Their chemistry is off the charts and their back and forth banter made me laugh out loud a couple of times!! Add in some romance and twists and turns and you get one amazing book!! A definite must read!!

ARC for honest review with no compensation

This is an amazing story of Emma Perfect, who's parents met while in England to hopefully see the wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981, found they are both from America and ended up married...now years later their daughter, Emma has come to England to cover the marriage of Harry and Megan. Knowing her parents love story and her being left right before her wedding she doesn't believe love and marriage are for her...until she meet Jordyn Knight and his son Benjamin. The sparks fly between Emma and Jordyn right from their first meeting but can he convince her that they can have a HEA just like her parents??

If you’re considering a British Affair, who doesn’t want a Knight to tip the scale right into Romancelandia?

With Halliday’s perfect way of coining a phrase with witty repertoire, Emma Perfect and Jordyn Goodlove-Knight are a delight as well as are all the secondary characters.

This is Halliday’s 3rd Affair Book, all delicious; all standalone perfection.

The British affair is a 5 Star read from Suzanne Halliday. It was an awesome, swoon worthy story. The word play in this book is captivating. Emma Perfect doesn’t believe in love or romance. She is sent to cover the royal wedding. In her quest to find out what the big deal is, she finds her answers and love in a charming English hall. It happens to be where Emma’s parents met years ago. Lady Goodlove and her friends provide charming humor and spunk. Jordyn, the grandson, and his son capture your heart immediately. You don’t want to miss how Emma and Jordyn find answers in beautiful places.

What a fantastic read!! This book takes place with the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle as the backdrop and let me tell you that romance takes a backseat to that of an Emma an American blogger/writer and Jordyn, a bed and breakfast owner. Emma is every girl who has ever had "romance" crap on them and had to go on with their life. Jordyn is the guy who attempts to put her together with patience, time and.....love.
I couldn't put this book down it hit all the right notes. I especially liked how the author used the actual events around the royal wedding to give us this gem of a book. Hat tip to you Ms. Halliday!!

Delightfully beautiful

Omg this book is delightfully beautiful book.
Emma is a skeptical about love, but has been commissioned to write an article about Harry and Meghan's wedding in Britain.
She's staying at the Hall that her Parents met.
Cue meeting totally eccentric and mischievous older ladies and the Man of the hall Jordyn along with his son Benji. Who is delightful.
Have you noted how many delightful there are yet.
This is a quintessential love story that will have you giggling from start to end.
Love love loved it

In The British Affair, Emma Perfect travels to England in order to write articles about Harry and Meghan's Royal Wedding. Jordyn Knight is her host at the manor where her parents met and fell in love. What follows is classic Halliday, word play, laughter, sarcasm, sexy times, love and a happily ever after guaranteed. Add in a sexy accent, tea and biscuits, a Royal Wedding and it's a five star affair.
