Jennifer loves reading and writing clean romance. She believes that happily ever after is not just for stories. Jennifer enjoys interior design, rollerblading, clogging, jogging, and chocolate. In Jennifer’s opinion there are few ills that can’t be solved with a warm brownie and scoop of vanilla-bean ice cream. Jennifer grew up in rural Alabama and loved living in a town where “everybody knows everybody.” Her love for writing began as a young teenager when she wrote stories for her high school English teacher to critique. Jennifer has a BA in English and Social Sciences from Brigham Young University Hawaii where she served as Miss BYU Hawaii. Before becoming an author, she worked as the owner and editor of a monthly newspaper named The Senior Times. She now lives in the Rocky Mountains with her family and spends her time writing and doing all of the wonderful things that make up the life of a busy wife and mother.
Once I got into this story, I could not put it down. I’m generally not a fan of suspense stories, but Ms. Youngblood might change my mind. My favored genre is sweet, clean romance and this fits the bill. I appreciated how Ms. Youngblood incorporated instances where prayers were offered and answered. (WARNING: Spoiler Alert) I was especially pleased with the scene where Sunny/Ashley is visited by her deceased sister who gives her information and encouragement. I cheered when Finley finally steps up and informs his mother in no uncertain terms that she is to butt out with her matchmaking activities. The suspense was well done and kept me on edge until the threat to Sunny/Ashley and Ian was resolved. Seldom have I seen a better set of protagonists than Sunny/Ashley and Finley. If you are one who enjoys clean, contemporary romance with a dash of suspense I would be hard-pressed to recommend a better author than Jennifer Youngblood.
Addendum for second read date: This makes 29 consecutive five-star awards I have given to Jennifer Youngblood for her clean romance stories. Finley Landers was first introduced in the 3rd book of this series as the jilted almost fiancé of Emerson Stein. Now he finds his REAL soul mate in Sunny Day, aka Ashley Reed from his High School days. This well-written story is not only interesting and entertaining, but it also has some mystery, suspense, and plot twists that kept me glued to my iPad until the HEA conclusion.
This is a thrilling and heartwarming romance with suspense and adorable moments that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning til the very end.
The Jilted Billionaire Groom: The Lost Ones: Jennifer’s Texas Titan Romance Book 4 is by Jennifer Youngblood. This book involves Finley who was jilted in the previous book. He is still under the influence of his Mother who is all about being the best in society. Her ambition is to get Finley married to counteract the publicity around his being jilted. She even interviewed young women and set up a luncheon for Finley with those who made the cut Finley had no intention of entering that room. He retreated and rook the family jet to Europe for a month and a half. Now he has returned, but to a penthouse suite at a hotel his family owned in Park City, Utah. As he is relaxing in the private hot tub, he sees a young boy trying to take money from his shorts. He catches the young boy and the manager steps I at the same time. He knows the young boy and calls for his Mother to come to the penthouse. She is mortified to find Ian stealing as he was supposed to be in the employee’s break room. The manager had been kind enough to allow him to come to the hotel while she was working since she couldn’t afford a babysitter. Before she could locate Lexi, she received a package from her. Lexi told her that her son Ian, had evidently seen something that he shouldn’t have and that she needed Ian out of the way while she cleared it up with her boyfriend. If she had gotten this package, something had happened to her and Ashley was to disappear with Ian. She had provided an alternate identity for Ashley complete with documentation. They were to leave immediately. They had fled and were now In Park City where she was cleaning at the hotel! What will she do if Finley remember who she is?
Ashley's life is going well and so is her design job, until she has to take her nephew and go on the run. Her sister Lexi's boyfriend is an evil man and kills her, then is looking for her son because he had seen Nolan kill a policeman. Nolan had abused Lexi while she was dating her and plans to kill her son. Lexi had sent new ID's and other papers to Ashley and a note to tell her she needed to leave right away. Ashley's name is now Sunny Day and she goes from Texas to Park City and takes a menial job trying to try to stay under the radar. That is made difficult as Ian keeps getting in trouble and is caught trying to steal from Finley Landers, who owns the hotel. Ashley had gone to school with him and had a crush on him back then. Finley feels like he should know her, but can't remember her at first. She wouldn't have even met him then except he was staying away from his mother who keeps pulling ridiculous stunts to get him married off. She ends up sending a girl to his hotel room. The girl Dede is sure he is in love with her, despite the fact that he doesn't go near her. She puts Sunny and Ian in danger when she insists they leave the room. Finley had gone out of town for a meeting, so Sunny and Ian were without a protector. Of course, then a man tries to kill Ian because he wants the money offered for doing so. Pretty hairy at the time. Finley miraculously gets back just in time, which doesn't seem like he could have returned that quickly, but it works. Cute, light, clean romance with some suspense and danger mixed in. Sunny and Finley are great together and the ending is nice.
One moment Ashley Reed is working on a great job as as an interior designer. The next she’s running for her life. Nolan Webb is bad news, like really bad news! Ashley knows Nolan was abusing her sister, but for some reason Lexi wouldn't tell her about it. The same Finley Lander's that she has had a crush on since Junior High. What happens when they meet again? Will she be able to keep Ian safe? Will Finley remember her? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Jennifer Youngblood.
I see that this book has a five star rating, and it was a nice, sweet, "happy ever after" story. I, however, was concerned at how the author manipulated the events to suit her purposes. The hero manages to show up when Sunny needs him--even when he has been cities away. The hero only seems to become frustrated with his mother, who is so desperate to see him suitable married that she does some devious deeds. There was little conflict or tension in the novel even though Sunny and her nephew are trying to avoid a very bad man, who just conveniently dies in a shoot-out with the police which the reader doesn't witness. The book does provide good escape, but the action is "luke warm."
Finley had been left hanging at loose ends when he lost Emerson at the end of "Hometown Groom." I was really happy that the author gave Finley a book of his own. This is one situation that I really advise reading the preceeding book first. "Hometown Groom" provides Finley's backsrory an it helps to explain many of his choices and decisions. "Sunny" and young Ian have a very suspenseful backstory of their own, and it is their history that drives the action of this book. It reaally sucked you in and kept you turning pages as quickly as possible
I purchased a copy of this book in and voluntarily chose to share my review.
Check your cynic at the door and just go along for the ride, and you'll enjoy this story! While it's short on realism, it's long on entertainment.
Youngblood does a great job at redeeming Finley as a hero after his part as a jerk in Emerson's story. And Sunny is a likeable conflicted heroine. The plot is unoriginal, but handled well enough for an amusing & satisfying couple of hours.
Romance, clean Light romance. Finley's departure from Texas leads him to Park City where he has a hotel, and where he meets someone from his past. Definitely a light romance, quick read. Ashley/Sunny is desperate to keep her nephew safe, and with her escape from the man who killed her sister, she is desperate to keep out of sight and notice by doing menial work. This was a cute, light romance, not a ton of substance, but a quick escape type of read.
It is great to see the lost ones are strong, moral people who find true love and move on with their lives. Bitterness can be too strong a force in life and make it hard to be open to the good. I know the book is fiction, but the process can be helpful in real life. Look for the good around you. I do love the clean romance of Jennifer Youngblood's books. I love all her books.
The Romeo Effect, being in love with being in love, caused Finley to humiliate himself publicly. After hiding in Europe while the backlash to passes, he retreats to a family hotel in Park City. By accident, he meets someone from his past that seems familiar but she assures him they haven't met. Something isn't right though. Figuring out what that is will put them all in danger. This book is a perfect blend of romance and suspense. Well done!
Another entertaining story about a man whose previous relationship ended when the woman his parents were trying to manipulate to marry him ran off with her true love. Rather than being heart broken Finley realised he was glad he finally felt free to a pursue his own dreams. When he meets a woman and a young boy, the story takes a new direction. He becomes strongly attracted and does everything possible to a uncover their secrets.
Great book, the title was a good reference as too what would be inside. The fact that a billionaire could find a girlfriend who was not among the upperclass was really something. He also found someone he could love even though she had a nephew to look after. After the attempted murder of his girlfriend and her nephew he decided she was it for him. This was a Free read and another great one. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
This is a story with a girl suddenly on the run for her life and that of her nephew and a guy on the run from his interfering Mother who wants him married. The characters actually knew each other in High School and met again years later, but he didn't recognize her. I felt for Sunny, assuming a new identity, sudden responsibility of her nephew, having to walk away from her dream job, and being on the run from a murderer. this book has just enough suspense to keep it interesting.
Stayed up too late again! I should know that I cannot put down a Jennifer Youngblood story until I finish it. This sweet romance has just the right mixture of fun, romance and suspense. With a mother like Finley's I'd leave town, too! Ashley/Sunny was a perfect choice for Finley. They sparkled. I loved the way Finley related to Ian. This book was the perfect Sunday evening read.
I was already somewhat prejudiced against Finley in the other book about Emerson. I struggled to like him in this. His mother was outrageous and ridiculous and again he didn’t meet the situation head on! He just ran off. The whole thing with the doctor felt weird. I wasn’t sure how well I liked any of the characters. I did scan reading to see how it ended.
Totally loved this story! Finley is the sweetest hero ever and Sunny was such a good aunt. Well written and will keep your interest from beginning to end.
A tough call, to take on someone else's son coupled with life threatening badies. The story was pretty good, but it irked me how Sunny was so high strung she didn't deal very well with the boy Ian. Apart from that, was interesting read.
This was an okay story. It held my interest and the characters were likable. The plot had possibilities but the ending seemed rushed. It's almost as if there was a limit on the length and the author ran out on space.
I liked the way that author developed the characters and storyline. She kept the reader involved in the story. It was hard to put the book down. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mystery and romance.
While I loved that Finley got his story told as well as an happy ever after, this book has absolutely nothing to do with the previous books. The only association is that he has from Texas and he played a role in the previous book
I really enjoyed this story about Sunny, Ian and Finley. Filled with lovable characters, laughter, sweet, for romance and even a tear, I couldn't wait to read what happened next.
What an interesting story. The suspense keeps you reading to see what will happen. Finley has no idea what he is getting mixed up in when he meets Sunny and Ian. This is a very good book to read.
