What do you get when you mix one sultry summer night, one world famous rock band, and one booze-soaked party in the Hollywood Hills?
An evening that's hot as sin.
On his last day in Los Angeles before leaving for his new job with a high-profile private security firm in New York, Bad Habit's long-time bodyguard Barney just wants to relax. Too bad the members of the band have other ideas. The bad boys of rock 'n' roll might be settling down with wives and children, but that doesn't mean they've forgotten how to party... hard.
And Barney's going away celebration turns out to be the party everyone will talk about for years.
Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll are all on the menu in this companion novella to the Bad Habit series, introducing characters from the spin-off Dangerous Beauty series from bestselling author J.T. Geissinger.
J.T. Geissinger is a New York Times, USA Today, Publishers Weekly, and Amazon Charts bestselling author of thirty-five novels and novellas. Ranging from funny, feisty romcoms to intense erotic thrillers, her books have sold over twenty million copies and been translated into more than two dozen languages.

She is also a recipient of the Prism Award for Best First Book, the Golden Quill Award for Best Paranormal/Urban Fantasy, and the HOLT Medallion for Best Erotic Romance.
Uf, no matter how much I enjoy J.T. Geissinger's books, and I actually do love them all, I found this novella really incomplete in that "collage result".
It felt more like a mash-up without any firm ingredients and not really giving me anything out of it, exept for some heavy steamy scenes, but that's all.
I just thought, that the guy who served faithfully to this band's entourage, would also have his completion. BUt all we actually see him do, is saying goodbye...
Have I mentioned before that J.T. Geissinger is my all time favorite author? ❤️❤️ Even her novellas are awesome! I can’t find anything wrong with this lady’s books. 🤗
So, this one represents a great farewell to the Bad Habit series (thanks for that ) and a very intriguing introduction to the new spin off series called Dangerous Beauty.
The story of Barney is just beginning and I can’t be more curious about it, especially since he’ll be working at Metrix Security with Connor Hughes and Tabbitha West (we know and adore them from Wicked Sexy and his job there involves a dazzling and amazing Russian’s billionaire’s wife. Plus, i get a feeling we’ll see more of Marcus too (Grace’s sex buddy from before Brody - check Sin With Me - Bad Habit #3). He’s way too sexy to be left behind. 😉
There you have it.
It would be an absolute honor to have you as my guest on my blog too. Stop by anytime you want :) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Oh Barney. He was one of my favorites and I've been dying for more of him. Hot as Sin, though. Totally bittersweet.
The Gist: For years Barney has protected the Bad Habit band. They're his family. But he's leaving them to take a job across the country. And this was the big goodbye.
Yep. It made me cry.
I loved Barney in the series. And I loved him here, too. He's such a good guy and has quite the hint of mystery behind him. It kind of breaks my heart he's leaving the band and their women, though I understand. I loved seeing all of the group antics one more time as they give Barney a send off fit for a superstar. They're a crazy wonderful group and I'm just as sad as Barney to say goodbye to them. I can't wait for Barney's series and really hope Marcus will show up there, too. So a bittersweet read for those who love the series.
*I wouldn't recommend this as a standalone. It's really a transition novella and best enjoyed after reading the Bad Habit series. Which is an amazing series so really you should read them all. *nods*
Was it good to catch up with the characters from the previous books? Sure. AJ's little moment was probably worth the cost of the novella, but I so not appreciated how this novella was so blatantly a way to get people hooked on the next book.
Just so you know, there is no heroine in this novella. The entire thing is set in the span of a few hours, during the goodbye party the band organized for Barney, who as it is explained at the very end, is assigned a mission that will lead him to his HEA.
Sure, things happen, but my overall feelings about this is that it could have been a pretty cool intro for the next book, instead of a separate novella.
It was an enjoyable read for an hour or so, and I like Geissinger's style, but between her choice to throw in a voyer threesome scene, probably because of the complete absense of a sexual aspect to this novella, or even romantic one, and the fact that it was all set in one place and time, it felt unnecessary. I don't want to necessarily say it was just done to make a quick buck cruising on the coattails of the Bad Habit Series, since it is actually a prologue for another series, but whatever the reason is, this novella had no business being on its own.
I mean, if you are going to write a novella about a side character who is going to get his spin-off, make him do stuff, suffer a little, throw in some more flashbacks, tell his story a bit, make us care. I just felt like I was reading a very long bonus scene.
Would I recommend it? I mean, I liked some aspects of it, I liked seeing the gang and it did make me curious about Barney's book, but as a reader and fan of the Bad Habit series I felt cheated on what could have possibly been a great novella and turned out to be filler fluff.
I have been a huge fan of the Bad Habit series by J.T. Geissinger and have loved Nico, A.J. and Brody from the beginning. But I would be remiss though if I did not admit that I've always had a weak spot for Barney and the need for his story.
While there was a lot of good moments in this book, I will admit that I wish there was a little bit of closure between Barney, Brody and Grace. It would have been nice to see him have a heartfelt one on one talk with Brody about Grace as he had some intimate talks with the other two, Nico and A.J. before he left. All in all, this was a great novella and I look forward to the spinoff series! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula
WOW! What a fantastic bridge to the new series. We get a story that is a final epilogue for the Bad Habits crew, while at the same time an intriguing beginning to Barney's story. And there is a scene in here that will melt your eyeballs it's so sexy....so have a fan at the ready!
Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll are all on the menu in this companion novella, to the Bad Habit series, which introduces characters from a new spin-off series: Dangerous Beauty
This is a nice little story about Barney's going away party. It was great catching up with the gang. This story takes place shortly after the last book, SIN WITH ME, but there was some new stuff going on with the characters. OMG AJ!!! We also got some interesting info on Grace, Marcus and Kenji. And we find out Barney's real name. I totally enjoyed reading it. As usual Nico threw a rockin' party and went overboard with the entertainment. But we readers wouldn't expect anything less from him would we?
I'm very excited for Barney's story. Geissinger wrote this to wet the appetite of her fans and it worked on me! I still want a story for Ethan and Chris though LOL. They had some page time in this novella and while technically they're happy in life I'm greedy and want more 😉
I think this was a nice little bow-tie on the series, focusing on Barney - or Nazir (his real name) - the band's bodyguard who's going to NYC to work for a security company. The entirety of the novella revolves around his send-off party. I couldn't connect too much with Naz in this book, but it's more of a prequel to his own spin-off series coming soon.
The book was the end of this series and the start of another series. To me this screams cliffhanger. I didn't know this book was going to be that. I had just gotten into the book when it ends and I was a little confused why it couldn't have been the first chapter of the the next series. Just me being picky I guess. Still a great author.

REVIEW: HOT AS SIN by JT Geissinger focuses on Bad Habit’s head of security, former Special Ops team member and ex-cop Barney as he spends one final night in preparation for his new position with a high profile private security firm in New York. A part of the Bad Habit series, as well as the prequel novella in the author’s spin-off series Dangerous Beauty, HOT AS SIN says farewell to Barney, and introduces some of the potential characters and backdrop for Barney’s move to NYC.
Told from first person point of view (Nasir aka Barney) HOT AS SIN is an erotic, sexy and revealing look at the members of Bad Habit, and their close association and friendship with our leading hero as they say goodbye to their head of security. Unable to move on from his past, Nasir (Barney) struggles with the memories, as well as the omens and signs about moving forward and starting anew. Well-written, vibrant and intriguing HOT AS SIN gives the reader a quick peak into the past, present and potential future for the dark and gritty hero.
Barney, Barney, BARNEY!!!! I love this man and am so excited to have gotten my first real taste of his story with J.T. Geissinger's Hot As Sin novella! Geissinger does a great job giving Barney the send-off he deserves as he prepares to leave the Bad Habit world to go work for Metrix, spinning him off into a new series. We get all of our favorite rockstars and their wives/ girlfriends as well as the rest of their highly entertaining entourage (I'm looking at you Kenji!!!!). Some storylines were resolved while new surprises were dropped. There were hints to Barney's backstory which have long kept me intrigued and now I can't wait to get underneath that sexy buttoned up suit to see just what this beautiful beast is hiding! Thank you, J.T. Geissinger, for giving us a taste of what's to come. I loved Hot As Sin and couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending to one of my absolute favorite series! I'll miss the Bad Habit world but can't wait to explore the new world starting with Barney's full story. I'll be waiting on pins and needles for that one to drop in a few months!
Short and spicy novella! Barney (Nazir), former bodyguard to the band, BAD HABIT, is leaving the band to join a new security firm in New York. It was great catching up with A J, Nico, Ethan and their love ones. However, the party, literally, caught on fire! What a send-off!
Short and sweet. I do love this author but reading this out of context (not having read the first three books) was an obvious fail on my part. I’ll have to read them and come back to this one another time and re rate it.
This novella centers around Barney who is moving cross country to take a job with Metrix,a top notch security firm…..so this is a transition to another series.
**3.5 Just always so sad to end a series. I feel like I’ve grown with all these folks, but now, Barney is moving on and that means so do I. Not my favorite, but it’s setting up the next series, so I respect it.
Damn - I could not wait to get my hands on this book because of the sexy alpha on the cover. BUT I was SO disappointed... Book was the most pointless thing I’ve read in recent memory. Absolutely pointless. It did not further develop any characters - except maybe the hotter-than-hot AJ - and did not add any value to Barney’s story. IMO this scene (the farewell party) could have been included at the start of the next series.
Overall Rating: ❄️ ❌ Interesting plot, creates suspense 👌🏼 Characters described in detail - new characters were ✔️ HOT alpha ✔️ Broody alpha ❌ Likeable female personality ✔️ Weak female 👌🏼 Serious chemistry - if you’re into teenagers 😷 ❌ Puts a ring on it ❌ Ties up loose ends ✔️ Humour ✔️✔️✔️✔️ Guy on front cover a good likeness for alpha - DAMN 🔥🔥 👍🏼 Spelling & grammar ❌ Triggers
Legend: 🔥🔥🔥 DAMN Girl! 💋💋💋 🔥🔥 That was nice, thanks 😊 🔥 Meh 😴 ❄️ WTF
Short quick little novella to close out the series and bridge the gap between the next one. It's nice to get a peek at some of the ever afters. Nothing fancy, just the basic but still nice.
Dear J.T. Geissinger - I finally managed to read "Hot As Sin" and I would like to thank you ... thank you from the bottom of my heart. There was one for me unresolved open issue - something that was wasn't finished fully and that was following me since I first read a certain book - and among the lines of closures this novella offers there is also a short conversation that involves the color of a dress that made my heart cry out in joy (that is me phrasing it carefully so only those who read it understand).
The person involved in that discussion holds a big spot in my heart when it comes to book boyfriends and is always on the tip of my tongue when I am asked by friends about the perfect book character.
Thank you so much for that - I had tears in my eyes and I can not thank you enough ...
This might only be a novella and written to connect this series to the following ... and while I loved Barney I wasn't sure what to expect of it as I am not a fan of novellas. I need books to be longer to be able to connect with the characters. But this book is special and dear fellow readers ... if you loved the series and (how to phrase this without saying too much) ... had any "open issues" this novella might answer them.
