So I kind of had a fan girl sqeeeeee moment when I found out Sydney Rye and Gia Santella were going to meet, talk about book dreams come true and yes I am gushing here because I just love both of these female characters so much, they are both kick ass empowering and inspiring Characters who never even try to be the awesome women they are it just happens naturally.

So in Vengeance we find out Damien the douche with serious monogamy issues is a complete and total psycho but in a totally charming way....lol Gia really wonders about her capacity to find love and will it be real and how will she know!!!!! Oh course she needs her bestie Dante to help her out every girl needs a bestie to turn to and I have to say Dante has grown on me.

Sydney and Blue are on a mission which coincides with them meeting Gia and Django, to be honest I thought these two women would be to much for each other but eventually they meshed well and became a more explosive force together which is saying a lot if you've read both their own series, now I have to say I would love more of them together, this pairing really worked for me.

Two strong women hunting for different things find themselves among the hunted. Sydney is smart and deadly trying to locate a missing woman. Gia is a wealthy lonely woman with a love for martial arts and men. Both women have experienced personal loss and have respect for each other's skills. Their story becomes intertwined on a trip with two businessmen doing things slightly different than normal. After reading all of Sydney's and Gia's books I can tell you Belcamino nailed their personalities. It adds to the intensity if you've read their books but the author made this one so that wasn't necessary. She gave us strong independent women with flaws and character but an intense suspenseful storyline. I received an early copy and wrote this review voluntarily.

I am a big Gia Santella fan and it was great to see her match up with another kick-ass female in Sydney Rye. Sydney is looking for a missing daughter and meets up with Gia. They decide to join forces to find the girl which leads them into the Silicon Valley subculture with it techies and parties. Both must learn to trust each other if they are going to succeed. This book is filled with great characters as well as dogs which I really enjoyed.

I had not read a Sydney Rye mystery prior but had no problems as Kristi gives enough backstory so I felt like I knew Sydney. If you love Gia, I believe you will really enjoy this joining of 2 females and their search for the missing girl.

All I can say is WOW!

Taste of Vengeance review

Just finished this book where Gia Santinella meets Sydney Rye, two of my favorite badass women. Now put them together in picturesque Rio and how can you go wrong! Gia meets these bajillioneer entrepreneurs who want to invest in her homeless projects and falls for one of them. Sydney Rye is in San Francisco trying to find a person who has gone missing and the last time this woman was seen was with the men interested in Gia's project. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say that trouble is around every corner they turn and there is more than meets the eye with the two investors. Oh, and there are 3 dogs as well and who doesn't like a story with dogs? Lol

This is my least favorite

I have loved all of Kristi Belcamino's books but I have to say this one was my least favorite. I think because I didn't like how Gia was portrayed in this book. She was too gullible and naive and that's just not like her. I know most of it can be blamed on the drugs but I don't think Gia would've been duped for as long as she was. She just seemed way to weak in this one. Just my opinion.

-The author was an avid reader of another author’s books about a character by the name of Sydney Rye. Like Gia, and Eva, which are other characters by Kristi Belcamino, Sydney Rye, a creation of Emily Kimelman, is an independent woman, beautiful and well able to handle herself. (Maybe all of these women have some link to the character, Mrs. Emma Peel of the tv show from the 1960’s, The Avengers.) Because of events in her own past, Sydney has been on a crusade to help others attain the justice that they can’t find in our legal system and has established an organization called Joyful Justice to aid her in her pursuits.
-It was probably because of the similarity to the characters in Kristi Belcamino’s book, that the author decided to incorporate Sydney Rye into a Gia novel, much like she’s done with her Eva character. The result is a book that rates high in all areas, whether it be plot; action; and most important, characters of whom you were always aware of their weak side.
-Gia is looking to expand her business of developing buildings meant to help the downtrodden and give them a second chance. Unfortunately, she’s discovered that the finances of the business are on shaky ground. Though she has the financial ability to infuse cash from her personal assets, she’s prevented from doing so because of clauses in her trust and she must look outside the business. A financier, Damien Thornwell, of Sky Enterprises, is well known and extremely successful, and he’s actually reaching out to Gia, but there are strings attached, as Damien is also not the man he portrays to the world outside.
-Sydney Rye’s organization tries to assist those to attain justice, and she’s approached by a wealthy woman who is searching for her daughter, Alai. Alai’s father had passed away and her large inheritance would be given to her only if she made $1 million on her own. She came up with a very promising business idea and had gone to Sky Enterprises for financing. She then went to Rio and was never heard from again.
-Sydney pretends to be the owner of an up and coming security company which has tremendous growth potential, but with financing, could achieve that growth. Under that guise, she gets herself invited to an evening party run by Thornwell. Gia, too, as a potential client for Sky Ent., is also asked to come to the party, but the party turns out to be a place where drugs and free sex are the dominant themes of the night.
-Though this is too much for Gia, causing her to run away well before the night is over, the two women, Gia and Sydney, notice each other. For his part, Thornwell reaches out to Gia and asks for a private meeting, where he shows that he’s spoken to many of the people who’ve been helped by Gia, and is impressed. He himself has also donated heavily to causes such as this. Unknown to Gia, Thornwell has developed a drug which enhances pheromones which he uses on Gia. Gia then becomes deeply attracted to Thornwell and they begin a relationship, though he warns her that he’s never been monogamous.
-Both Sydney and Gia are invited to Rio by Thornwell, but Sydney feels that Gia could be in danger, as the missing girl looks highly like Gia herself. Sydney tries to warn Gia, but the drug she’s taken has muddied her good judgement and Gia goes to Rio with Thornwell’s group, which now includes Sydney as well.
-The true danger of what the duo face is revealed in a flashback to a young Thornwell, which shows us a young but brilliant inventor. But this young man has a demented nature, and he has started killing young girls at random and knows how to dispose of the evidence.
-Kristi Belcamino is a master at portraying action which becomes vivid scenes in the mind of the reader. She was unsure of writing of a character that wasn’t her own, and I haven’t read any of the books covering this new character, but, by considering how Belcamino’s Eva would react and using that as a starting point for this new character, the result is a book that’s a great read from start to finish.

Taste of Vengeance from Kristi Belcamino combines one of her powerful protagonists, Gia Santella, with Sydney Rye, another strong independent character from author Emily Kimelman. Together for the first time, they really do complement each other very well.

Both main characters are tremendously strong and driven women with their own personal devils they have to fight. What makes them particularly good together is that they have similar strengths yet fill each other's weaknesses very well. In this case Gia is not on a case or investigating anything, so her personal issues and how she copes with them helped to make her seem more vulnerable than we are used to seeing her. Sydney is strictly on the case and is not even aware that she has as strong an ally in Gia as she does, though she does sense the strength Gia has.

Told in various points of view, we not only watch the events unfold but also flash back to what helped to make the "bad guy" who he is. These are interspersed throughout so that we begin to realize the extent of the present day danger as we learn the back story. I found this to be a very effective way to provide a more causal explanation for the evil that exists. While it certainly doesn't excuse it it does humanize the person so that we can see that most people become what they are, both good and bad, based on what happened to them and how they coped with it.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone already familiar with either series as well as anyone that enjoys a strong female lead (or two) who is aware of both her strengths and weaknesses and knows that, as a human, she is still a work in progress.

This book is written like I make a great soup or stew by adding simple yet great spices and foods I make a fantastic meal! With two kickass heroines in the pot mixture or in the book once they meet adjustments by each is needed to reach the level of trust & communication in their roles in this book. Like mixing and adjusting your spices with food! Then to add in the naughty persons whom are dark, full of anger and use to getting their way but are very awkward in any type of relationships they do encounter. It was chapter 3 that really got its hooks into inspired into finishing my ARC copy and I then purchased one copy from Amazon to have when I wish to re-read this well done book. I have followed the Sydney Rye series since I stumbled accross it on a give away list through Bookbub. So this book is my first book with Gia and my first book by Kristi Belcamino and just let me say it it blew me out of the water and grabbed me by my ass until the book was done. Even then between my headaches from a severe concussion and great cups of coffee I would mull over what I read absorbing it figuring out if I may know what will happen. Never did get ahead of the plot lol! This book is a great read showing of just how the rich are and can be. If I enjoyed I know you will too! Get your copy now! Hugs from the old wolf to everyone! Well done Kristi Belcamino! Awaiting another this good with Emily living us all too! I now have to snarky heroines from two writers! Of course the dogs are the parts of a great book!

Taste of Vengeance - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Gia Santella and Sydney Rye are united in an exhilarating crime-thriller by Kristi Belcamino and Emily Kimelman writing in tandem to produce a commanding presence on the best-seller lists everywhere.

Sydney Rye takes an interest in the news of a serial killer operating in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
Her commission through her Joyful Justice organisation forms part of a twin-themed storyline, where she's assigned to find a missing heiress and would-be business success story. In between we have a second narrative, in which we switch personas from Sydney's to that of the twisted psyche of the unknown predator.

What is the connection between Clem Smith and Damien Thornwell?
What did Gia find in the villa's bathroom?
When does Sydney save Gia?

The tension and excitement ramps up exponentially right to the very last page, with justice dealt out where deserved and firm friendships are formed for the future.

Gia is looking for funding for her newest project Ethel’s Place so
she contacts two rich and powerful men, Damien and Rich. Independently, Sydney, working with Joyful Justice, is looking into the disappearance of a young woman said to have contacts with these same two men. So Sydney also contacts these men with a business proposal of her own. Gia and Sydney are invited to some strange parties involving lots of drinking, drugs and sex. Damien takes a liking to both Gia and Sydney and invites them to go to Rio for Carnival. As Gia becomes more and more involved with Damien, Sydney becomes convinced that Damien is somehow involved with Alaia’s disappearance and possibly several others. Eventually Gia sees the light and she and Sydney bond together to take down Damien. This book kept me engaged from page one. The descriptions of Rio were breathtaking and realistic. This book had lots of emotion and suspense. I loved the interaction of Gia and Sydney and all the characters. So enjoyable!

TASTE OF VENGEANCE by Kristi Belcamino
String of Bay Area woman were missing, and Alaia was thought to be the lastest, a twenty three old heiress. Sydney meeting with Cyril the manservant the will provided him to stay and Alaia couldn’t sell. A young girl who chose to sleep by the indoor pool, colorful array of clothing surrounding it. Her journal "love pills"telling of parties, she wanted to expose them. The health business she was wanting to invest in. The life of the rich and famous waiting for the next scandal. A fast moving plot that showed us the evil side When one was bent on greed for money and murder was part of what they did. Once again a challenge that Sydney excels in, and readers want to read. A new friendship with Gia, if ever needed they would be there for one another. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion. ELLEN Oceanside

Krist Belcamino is writing like a racehorse these days! One fast-paced Gia Santella book after another, all fun to read. This installment, Taste of Vengeance (#6 in the series), takes a new turn by introducing us to another badass, fierce, strong protagonist, Sydney Rye. Together these two are awesome. I was not familiar with the Sydney Rye series, but now I want to read more of her adventures, too. Becoming involved with the little known seamy side or subculture of the Silicon Valley Tech gurus places both our heroines in grave danger. The ladies fly off with the techies and a few others to Brazil where Carnivale, scuba diving, hang-gliding and lush accomodations belie the peril that awaits Gia and Sydney. Only by joining forces will they outmaneuver and conquer the evil forcess at play. Highly recommend it!

This was a fast-paced, action filled tale with Gia thinking she may be falling in love with a tech whiz wonder. The world thinks the two co-founders do no wrong...and they work hard to cultivate that image. Few people know what they are really doing and manufacturing - and only one knows how deviant a personality one of them has. Sydney is on the case because of a Rich man's daughter who has dropped off the face of the Earth after going to Brazil with the Techies. Sydney sees how Gia is acting and feels that she is off. She tries to warn Gia but Gia shrugs her off. Sydney keeps an eye on her. I loved this story. It embraced the colorfulness of Carnival, had sinister dealings and complications, and yet, provided a female buddy for Gia. Kudos!

I have read all of the Gia Santella books and this one was a little different, Gia unknowingly teamed up with Sydney Rye in finding a missing young lady named Alaia Schwartz. Alaia's father hired Sydney's company Joyful Justice to find out what has happened to her. Lately, there had been a string of missing young ladies in the San Francisco Bay area.

Gia and Dante were attending a party and Gia was smitten by this somewhat handsome man named Damian, this is also where Gia and Sydney first meet. Damian invites Gia to Carnival in Rio where things heat up. Gia and Sydney are leery of each other and as Gia get closer to Damian Sydney reveals some news to Gia she doesn't like. It only gets better from there.

This is a must read book, 5 stars all the way!!!!

Sydney Rye and Gia Santella

Sydney Rye and Blue are in San Francisco investigating the disappearance of a woman who was last seen partying in Rio de Janeiro. Gia has caught the eye of Damien Thornwell who has invited her to join him at the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
Sydney discovers that Damien was the last person to see Alaia Schwartz. She notices that Gia looks a lot like Alaia.
Kristi has blended Gia Santella and Sydney Rye into an exciting crimes mystery. These strong characters are united in solving this thriller. Great job Kristi. Congratulations on another exciting adventure. I couldn't put it down
Will be looking forward to your next book.

Was well worth the wait

Really good story. I have to admit that I was skeptical about putting Gia and Sydney together. I have completely read both series and have always felt that they were too different to work together, like oil and water. Their personalities are so different. Happy to report I was wrong! They did end up clicking together nicely. For the first part of the book, the view point switched by chapter and the reader wasn’t told who had that chapter. You had to pay attention. I liked the idea because you learned how the person was feeling and thinking. Highly recommended. PS. Let Emily do all the work next time. That could be really interesting.

I was introduced to Kristi Belcamino via the Sydney Rye Series. I hadn’t read any of Kristi’s books before but thoroughly enjoyed Taste of Vengeance. Normally I’m one of those readers that likes to follow a series in order so it was little difficult to get into at first but I loved the way the two characters meshed well together. Once I got into the groove, I couldn’t put it down. This book hit all the marks too. Romance, action, suspense, and not one but two strong kick ass heroines! It was well worth the read and I would love to see Gia and Sydney work together again sometime. I have a feeling that these two ladies were just the friend they never knew they were missing.

A most excellent book! Ms. Belcamino wrote a story that fits in perfectly with the Sydney Rye series and I am so impressed with the way she did her homework and used some of the specifics from the Rye series, such as Blue tapping Sydney’s hip. Such an iconic gesture that made the book a perfect fit. I really do like Gia Santella. Badass gal just like Sydney. Quite a pair together.
The plot was super exciting, although so scary because it could, and probably does, happen.
Excellent read all the way around! Well done Kristi Belcamino, well done!

Gia and Sydney alone are each a force to deal with, but together they are absolutely unstoppable! I love it when series' from the same author cross over and join forces, so I wasn't sure what to expect when heroines from 2 different authors came together to save the day, but they were phenomenal! I read about 75 - 100 books per year and I love a good storyline. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time and I'm not ashamed to say that I lost a lot of sleep because I just couldn't put it down. This is definitely a must read!

This was my first Gia book, but I have read all of the Sydney Rye books. I was glad to see that Sydney and Blue were kept true to form. I enjoyed the intrigue in this book and the suspense. I was a little let down that Gia didn't have the same "badass" attitude that Sydney has, but then who does? But in the end Gia came through and I am anxious to read more of her books. The book was fast paced and kept you guessing and wanting more. I received this book as an ARC reader but the opinion expressed here is my own.

Non-stop action

Gia’s back and as usual, in the middle of the action on two continents. She falls in love but with many turns and and stops as she goes through the associated turmoil. Non-stop action as she joins up with Sydney to look for a missing girl that appears to have some connection to her lover. My only complaint, and hardly much, was I couldn’t always tell whose character was being described between Gia and Sydney sending me back and eventually figuring it out. Loved this edgy book!

From silicone valley to Rio

Wow! Just wow! 2 badass female protagonists in the same story! Both, in their own right and in their own stories, really fun to follow. But... Can they work together? Ha! There are many moments that you'd think they were on opposite sides. Loved it! One great, laughable descriptive (a slimy bad guy) " “Bullshit,” the word seemed wet coming out of Zimmer’s mouth. " Don't miss this one!

Taste of Vengeance

As Sydney Rye searches for a missing woman, she encounters Gia Santella in this suspense filled thriller from Kristi Belcamino.
This is the first time these two characters have joined forces, and the result is a compelling tale that you won’t want to put down.
Gia and Sydney are determined, fearless and resourceful heroines. Navigating the dark underbelly of Silicon Valley, they willingly risk everything as they confront danger and evil in the pursuit of justice.

My first read from author Kristi Belcamino, set in the Sydney Rye universe. I'm a Sydney Rye fan & that got me to read this book, now I'm a Kristi Belcamino fan as well although Gia often seems like more of a victim than a heroine the writing was so good that I'll read more of Belcamino's writings about Gia Santella and probably branch out into her other writings as well. Well written & enjoyable.

Taste of Vengeance

It's hard not to like a Kristi Belcamino thriller & Taste of Vengeance is one of her best! Packed with suspense, thrills & excitement throughout with plenty of erotic heat, colorful characters & exotic locales! The addition of Sydney as a sub-lead was a wonderful addition and will be welcome in future episodes! Eva is still my favorite but Gia is growing in my fan list!

A fun crossover

This was a good crossover of two strong female characters who have been dealt some crappy hands in life. Enjoyable writing and great balance of crime, action and personal relationship questions. I do wish Gia was not so flakey in this story, but it did help the story work better. The ending was good and the entire story had me wanting to read more of both characters!

I enjoy the Gia Santella books and I am a huge Sydney Rye fan so I was really looking forward to this book.
I had a little trouble in the beginning and I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found I had to re-read the first few chapters at least twice to try to understand who was who. I never had the issue before.

However, once the story got going it was easy to follow and fast moving.
