The Seer returns from her demon-induced coma. The Warriors and Scouts have doubled in number. The Runemaster gains an apprentice to help create the wards that protect them all. But will it be enough to overcome the treachery the Overlords have meticulously planned for the last two decades? Will the Council see the defeat of their greatest enemies or will humanity fall? This is the final book in the Light in the Darkness Series.
I love to read almost any genre. While the most popular authors continue to thoroughly entertain us, I've found some of my favorite series have come from new authors. My all-time favorite has to be Ben Hale's, Chronicles of Lumineia, along with all the side stories that go with it. A very close second is Michael Manning's, Mageborn Series. I've found several gems within some of the Anthologies I've purchased. One of these introduced me to Michael Ploof's, Whill of Agora Series, which kept me reading for weeks. Of course, I'll always enjoy one of Robert Jordan's new releases or a re-read of Elizabeth Peter's, Amelia Peabody Series. But it thrills my reading soul to find a new and interesting twist, such as Kel Kade's, King's Dark Tidings or Donna Augustine's, Karma Series.
I was really looking forward to reading this final instalment of the series to see what Bostic had in store for the Council and the Overlords. Of course, it did not disappoint, the scale is as epic as ever and I was entertained. However, although I thoroughly applaud the brave direction of this book and its characters, I really wish that there'd been more of a definitive battle to better punctuate the series. It left me a little at a loose end, but my hope is that there will be another book as the ending hints at more to come. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes demons, fights between good and evil, and fantasy in historical settings. This is a book that suits both adults and older teenagers and it's completely unique.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I read this book in a day; I just couldn’t put it down. The author stays true the personality of each character, allowing them to grow without changing. As I had already read the first book in the follow-up series, I knew some of what was going to happen, but I still wasn’t prepared for it. The story is well thought out and very well written. I got quite upset at one point when one particular character died, even though I knew they were going to. I cannot put into words how much I recommend this author. My only issue is that I have run out of books to read and I have to wait for the next one to be published. I hope it’s soon.
Once again the Council of Light are pushed to their limits to overcome the forces of evil and restore balance. Will Darian ever be able to forgive himself for miscalculation he has made. Will his friends? The fight is ever a delicate balance. An engrossing tale of good versus evil set in the early 1800’s. I look forward to continuing the saga with Darian and his friends.
