I've done my best to ignore the magnetism that flows between us. I don't need complications in my life. I can't get wrapped up in his world. The last thing I need is to get attached to a professional athlete. I don’t have time for heartbreak.

EastonSomething about her pulls me in. I want to get to know her. I want a chance to show her I'm more than just my career, my paycheck. I'm the man for her. I know I am. No matter how much she resists this connection between us. It doesn't change the fact that she’s my grand slam.

Very sweet book. Very sweet hero. I loved the hero and his relationship with the heroine's daughter.
I loved how there's no drama. That's it. No drama. Let me repeat that No drama.
Who wants to read about a hero who's shoving his d*ck or tongue in someone other than his heroine? Well I can tell who doesn't want to read that.. ME!!

Absolutely sweet and safe love story!

Very likable main characters, adorable kid, touching moments, 4 epilogues!!!

Strong heroine, I only wish she tried to move on prior she met the hero (at least tried), so that they were not that unequal in their experience. But since the hero was not a manwhore (though he ‘played the field’ in the past), I could cope with her being celibate for over 4 years.

Safe! Zero OW drama.
Actually very low on drama – and I loved it! I hate, when authors create drama-for-the-sake-of-drama… was not the case here! Short and plausible conflict, well and quick solved.

Did I already mention how I love a good epilogue? *lol*
This author gave us 4! 4 sweet epilogues!

3,5 🥎💘💘🌟s ❣️❣️❣️

A very heartwarming, sweet and safe romance read, exactly what I needed!
I am well aware that Easton was almost ridiculously sweet and out of this world too good, but I didn’t care.
Larissa was slightly annoying but I was not in her shoes and can understand her concerns.

It was very well written, nicely paced and flowed, with very likeable characters and a very cute little 4y.o. princess!!!

There was neither drama nor angst, no field action, a few scenes were emotional and there were 4 After chapters (epilogues) in the end!!! 💃🏻

How could anyone finish reading this book? It is incredibly boring and sickeningly sweet.

I like sweet books but not like this. This is ridiculous. And too boring. Unbearable boring.

*********************************************

A famous baseball player meets a girl and there is instant attraction. He goes after her and she keeps rejecting him. He wants to go on a date but she keeps saying no. Then he discovers that she is a single mum and she is trying to both work and finish her school. She is too busy and too scared of a heartbreak.

The hero is TOO GOOD to be true. He has instant feelings for her. He not only falls in love with her immediately but also with her daughter. He tries to convince her that he is in it for the long term and that he is serious.

She cannot believe for a while, which was normal, because it was unbelievable. He starts to make future plans and thinks how much he wants both of them in his life. Come on, really? You see a girl and like her so much that, without getting to know her and see whether you would be a good couple or not, you can decide that they are your future?!!

Sorry, but that was ridiculous. You may want someone very much and you can go after her and try to win her heart but promising a future with them so soon is absurd!.

*********************************************

The WHOLE book is him trying to show her how much he wants both of them in his life and how much he means it and she slowly trusts him.

There is no drama as far as I have understood from my skimming and scanning because after I have read half of the book and wanted to vomit from the overdose of its sugar sweetness, I needed to skip pages. There was nothing interesting going on anyways, so I just wanted to see the end of it.

However, even the ending is exaggerated. There are lots and lots of epilogues about blah bla years later. Sorry but I couldn't read even one of them.

Oh, let me say that the book is sickeningly sweet only, don't expect any passion or hotness.

Writing:

It is written in dual point of view.

It is dull and boring. Nothing interesting happens. It is monotonous and uneventful. There is nothing else other than the sweet times they spend together.

I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters. The writing didn't make me feel their connection. I was never invested in their story, which lacked credibility for me for many reasons.

Safety:

It could be nothing but safe with a sickeningly sweet hero, what else?

It's not that I didn't like the hero. On the contrary, I loved him. I just couldn't believe his character. I couldn't believe how he decided so fast to be with a single mum. It's not like being with a single girl. Being with a single mum brings many responsibilities. I just didn't understand or believe how anyone would so quickly decide that they want it. If only it had happened gradually...

Rating:

My rating reflects my feelings and my experience about the book. I have given it 1 star because trying to read it was like watching paint dry for me. The reasons I have listed above don't necessarily make it a bad book for everyone, it was just not my cuppa.

If you are looking for a safe romance book only and if safe and sweet is enough for you, maybe it could be your jam.

There love was full of hope.

A gorgeous Baseball player and a sad woman. They meet and she doesn't believe who he says he is. It takes him awhile to convince her that he is an honest guy. Then he meets her daughter.

This book was the perfect sweet fluffy, no angst, no conflict, might give you a cavity unrealistically perfectly sweet kind of book that I love to read every now and then. Love to read about a man who falls in love with a single mom and her daughter at the same time. So sweet loved it!

- I don’t think the kid in this book acted like an actual human child does, but I’ve come to accept long ago that book kids never do so I didn’t let this bother me.
-Also- lots of women like beer that’s not weird, my guy
-One more also- the guy in this book seemed terrible at sex so I guess you gotta overlook that if you read this

This was a great story. I loved it. I do like stories with a little more steam, but there is just no way that I can take off stars for that. This was a perfect, sweet story. There is a dead spouse, and we do hear a little about him, but it's not overly done and I definitely didn't feel like Easton was second best. Little push/pull in the beginning but didn't last long. Great read.

Kaylee Ryan is an author who I can expect greatness from. Every time I pick up a novel written by her I instantly know two things. First being this novel is going to have some great family values and second this novel is going to literally cause my heart to split in two just by pure joy. Beyond The Bases went above and beyond these expectations.

I love going into books blind, its my newest niche and I found I love the element of surprise that comes with not knowing and key elements that are in the book I'm about to read. When I started Beyond The Bases I had no clue it was going to mesh two of my favorite tropes into one! I'm literally a sap when it comes to children in novels. I love the family values that usually take place within these tropes. I also am addicted to baseball in all forms. I love watching the sport on tv, going to games, and reading it in romance novels! The fact this novel is a baseball romance made me that much more excited to dive in!

About Beyond The Bases:

Easton Monroe plays first base for the Tennessee Blaze, which makes it difficult for him to find genuine people to hang out with and date. He's sick of the wild scene that comes with being on a MLB team, he's looking for something more stable and long-lasting. When Larissa walks through the bar door with her friend Chloe, Easton has a strong feeling that she's the one he's been holding out for. But when she starts turning down his advances, he realizes this isn't going to be as easy as what he thought. He has his work cut out for him if he wants to win the heart of this woman.

My Thoughts:

I fell for Easton Monroe in the beginning of Beyond The Bases and only continued to fall harder throughout this novel. What I loved most about him wasn't the fact that he was swoony with all sorts of sexy vibes. I loved the fact that this man feels with his whole heart and he isn't ashamed to admit it nor does he try to hide it.

Larissa is a forced to be reckoned with. Let's just state right now that this woman shows true strength. She's a woman who can be admired in so many ways. Larissa has had a tough life but throughout it all she's never let tragedy break her. She can't due to the fact that she has a four-year old daughter who looks up to her and depends on her.

Even though I loved the hell out of Easton and adored Larissa, I have to admit, Little Miss Paisley stole the show! This four 'almost five' year old firecracker is so freaking adorable. She has everyone, including me, wrapped around her little finger and she knows exactly how to play the game. I loved the insta chemistry between Easton and Paisley! Now I'm telling you, that was some of the most adorable scenes I've ever read!

Beyond The Bases by Kaylee Ryan has made it to my 2018 FAVORITES LIST!!!!
This novel had everything that I was looking for and everything that I wanted!
A definite future reread for me!

Stories like Beyond the Bases are the reason why Kaylee Ryan is my go to for feel-good, swoony romance. Low drama, heartfelt sincerity, and a sweet and tender love story make this the kind of story that makes you smile, that remind you how magical romance can be.

Our hero Easton is just DELICIOUS. A professional baseballer who is over the playboy life and wants to start building a family- REFRESHING right?! A chance encounter and a lukewarm meet cute moment puts him in the path of single mom Larissa, whose work and parenting commitments as well as her personal romantic baggage cause her to be a bit uninterested in Easton’s advances. But Easton is charmingly not deterred-this is a man who feels a instant but soulful connection to the brunette beauty, and he continues to rather adorably (and non-aggressively) put himself in her path. Larissa is soon charmed just like we are, but she first has to reveal just why she wasn’t open to dating- and Easton proves just why no one rights swoony, sincere leading men like Kaylee Ryan.

Easton gives me all the happy butterflies - he’s emotionally transparent, generous and giving, incredibly open hearted, and just DREAMY. He loves hard, freely, and compassionately. He’s patient and kind as Larissa works through her issues and opens her heart to the relationship, and he practically made my ovaries explode with his adorable devotion to scene-stealing Paisley, Larissa’s 4 year old daughter. This is the kind of story where our leading man dates not just the single mama, but makes space to “date” the kiddo to- making sure they develop their own independent and ADORABLE connection. And Larissa is so relatable- she’s strong, hard working, and resilient. She’s a bit stubborn at first- how can she resist this delicious man?! But we soon learn why- she’s a mama first, and she’s worked tirelessly to care for her daughter, and to protect her.

The chemistry between all the characters- romantic and platonic- is just outstanding. Easton and Larissa have a sweet and sexy connection, and Easton and little Paisley are so cute together it could rot your teeth- total heart melting magic. Paisley is so adorable- she steals every scene she’s in, and if you weren’t already madly in love with Easton, watching him dote on this little girl will do you right in.

I did find the ending to feel a bit too fast for me- I wanted to revel in their togetherness a bit more, but then Kaylee Ryan treats us to several epilogues and now I’m all warm and fuzzy. Charming from start to finish- low angst, low drama, just all the happy feels. SWOON!

This is sweet and safe book.

H is a sport star. Luckily he is a not a manwhore. He is a good guy. One day he meets the h and falls for her. It was love at first sight for him. He pursues her, she pushes him away. He keeps trying and asking why she denies him. She just says “other obligations ”. It turns out that the other obligation is that she has a kid. Her husband is dead and she doesn’t want her heart broken again.
But eventually the H enters her life slowly. First he wins her daughters heart and then hers.

That’s it.
Nothing else happens in the book. It’s just them going on dates after dates. No ows or oms. Finally, he asks her to marry. And they live HEA. There are some 4 epilogues.

I’m sure many people will love this decent drama free book.

3 Larissa and Easton Stars

This was a very sweet love story with a very reluctant heroine. Larissa married young and her husband was killed at work. She has an adorable 4 yr old daughter and her life is busy and complicated. Then she meets Easton who is a hugely popular and successful baseball player. He pursues her from the start but she is reluctant to take the risk of falling in love again....but Easton wants her and nothing is standing in his way.

This is a really safe book. There is virtually no angst.

In my top ten reads

This is on my top ten reads this year! It had everything I crave in a fantastic story. The feels, the teary moments will do just that, have you shedding a few tears.

A really feel good story about loss and survival. When Larissa lost the love of her life it was the same day she found out out she was pregnant. Being widowed at such a young age she’s struggled to make something of her life. Working and attending class she’s doing it. No time for romance she has goals for herself and her daughter Paisley.

Meeting Easton the first baseman for the Tennessee Blaze was not in her plans. She’ll try to resist but it’s fruitless this man is in it. For forever.

Easton knew the minute he spotted Larissa he knew there was something about her. Being shot down isn’t going to stop him though. A woman like this, her daughter there going to be his. He’ll push and push until he makes her his.

Absolutely must read. New author for me and one I’ll be checking out.

This book.
This story.
The H and h.
The plot.
The meeting.
The characters.
The dynamic.

Fascinating.

I went through all the emotions while experiencing Easton and Larissa's love story.

A widowed, single mother - working hard to make ends meet and trying to finish school meets the good-boy next door professional baseball player who, honestly, did not even seem real to me (you get my drift).

Throw in an adorable 4-year-old, zero family drama, no ow/om drama, a great support system for both the H and h and you have one heck of a story.

At times, the story did come off a bit sugary-sweet, but all the while endearing and enjoyable.

And the last four chapters of the book....

Pro-baseball player, Easton is the eternal bachelor, accepting that he may never find the woman he wants to spend forever with. That is, until he meets single mom, Larissa in a bar. And while she fends off his advances, Easton isn’t so easily deterred.

After her husband died while she was pregnant, Larissa has been carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders since. Now with a 4-year old daughter, Larissa is juggling parenting, going to school and working. She has more baggage than she cares to admit and Larissa doesn’t believe any man would sign up to take on all her responsibilities.

So when major league player, Easton goes out of his way to win her heart, Larissa questions why he is interested in her when he could have any woman he wants. But what Larissa doesn’t know is that she’s the woman of Easton’s dreams and so is her little girl, Princess P.

Beyond the Bases by Kaylee Ryan is a single mom meets baseball romance. Easton is such a cinnamon roll hero and is practically flawless. He almost was too sugary sweet for me. The only conflict in this story surrounds Larissa not knowing if she could let Easton be apart of her complicated life. I wanted a little more angst and a stronger conflict, but this was a sweet and easy romance. If you are a sucker for a swoon-worthy hero, pick this up! 3.5/5 stars.

This is one of my favorite Kaylee Ryan books.
Larissa is a hard worker. Between working full time, taking college courses and being a single mom, she simply does not have time in her life for any distractions.
Easton meets Larissa out at a bar on a rare night that she is out and knows that she is different. She is not falling all over him because he is a professional baseball player. She actually wants nothing to do with him. That makes him want to get to know her even more. Easton pulls out all the stops to show Larissa that he is more than just a baseball player looking for one night, he is the person that takes care of her and Paisley, her adorable 4 year old daughter.
Easton is sweet, loving and caring. Watching his connection with Paisley would warm anyone's heart.

-safe read
-h celibate for 5 years
-H no talk about much of his current history
-no om/ow drama
-dead spouse but not still mourning
-amazing epilogues
-sweet sweet read

A read-worthy sports-related (baseball) romance without the affliction of too much angst. Great characters in Easton, Larissa and Princess Paisley. It’s a really touching story of a young widow with an adorable four-year-old daughter that catches the eye and heart of a major league first baseman. A heartwarming gem that is full of so many wonderful moments of reading enjoyment – and includes FOUR EPILOGUES – that move these characters forward in preparation for the next generation’s stories to be told. A delightful book that gets my thumbs-up and a reading recommendation.

Looking forward to Princess Paisley's grown-up story, Beyond the Game, headed this way on November 9, 2021.

- 22 year old single mom
- 25 baseball player
- He falls first and hardest
- Not a manwhore (se notes)
- Love after loss (h lost baby daddy)
- Adorable 4 year old little girl

This book was just cozy and drama free, such a great and light read.
Really liked how she made him work for it, and how devoted he was into making sure she knew how serious he was about her and her daughter.

Safety:
- Was a playboy the first year of going pro, but got tired of it. Only occasionally hookups, but been a while.
- h been on a few dates since her husband died 4 years ago, but nothing more than dates. She’s healed by her high school sweetheart dying in action as a police officer the day she found out she was pregnant

And so many bonus scenes and epilogue’s 😍

Larissa lost the man she loved young, now she has no time for romance she's focusing on making a good life for herself and her daughter. When she meets Easton the first baseman for the Tennessee Blaze, she is more than a little hesitant to start anything, but his persistence and care with her daughter quickly wins her over. The minute he saw her Easton found himself drawn to Larissa, and his determined to show her that his the man for her and her little girl.

A super light, sweet and easy one time read, no real angst at all.
