Gathers together the out-of-print titles from the Field Notes series and adds a new collection, The Flowering Rock, written in the Burren, on the west coast of Ireland.
The apparent minimalism of these verses necessitates a lot of deep thought and careful reading. The research and care which has gone into compiling this collection (comprising now out-of-print titles from Richardson and Skelton's Field Notes series) is meticulous. Every word is chosen with precision, to convey both meaning and lyricism. Lovely, evocative depiction of nature, which I can see myself returning to many times. I think this is already influencing the way I read, write and think about poetry and nature-writing.
