Skye, Stormy, and Savannah Davidson are no different from the other residents of Discovery, Massachusetts, or so they think. As their 25th birthday approaches, the town begins to view them with wariness and suspicion. Skye begins to believe the triplets are special. Can they solve the puzzle of their past to save the town from the evil forces that affect their future?
Quite simply an amazing book. The story drew me in right from page one. The characters are fantastic and fascinating. I absolutely can't wait to see what happens to each of them next!!
Cursed is like Practical Magic and Charmed had a book baby but with triplets. Add a quirky house and secret attic space and a cute kitty you have all the makings of a witch book.
The Davidson triplets start noticing the towns people giving them wary stares. Skyes boyfriend even seems to be harboring a secret. Savi spends her time in a library while Stormy runs her magical gift shop. As the days approach to their 25th birthday strange things are going on not with just the town but the girls themselves. They are about to learn how everyone is connected in the town of Discovery.
I had no real issues with this book. The story flowed nicely. I will say they mention coffee a lot in this book and I’m like no wonder those girls are skittish. There was a lot of mystery in Cursed that I was dead set on figuring out who was this ancient Alpha. Guess I need to read book two to answer more questions.
I received Cursed as a gift from the author for my honest opinion. This book was great and I am really excited to read more of the series as it becomes available. It definitely made me want to order book 2 but then I figured out that it has yet to be released. I love finding myself in the position of wanting the next book. It means that it was an amazing start of what will be sure to be an epic journey! The storyline is amazing, character development was above par and it was honestly a joy to read as this book came to life. I love books that are well detailed, it helps my imagination figure out how the book would look in my own mind. Skylar McKinzie has an amazing gift of storytelling and it would be an honor to share this book with my friends.
I absolutely was riveted by all the twists and turns of the book! Kept me sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time! Can not wait till the next book in the series! Who is the Ultimate Evil and will the Main Characters find their True Love we shall see!
When three sister witches are burned at the stake because someone in their little town betrayed them, the set a spell into place to reincarnate themselves every time they died. When Skye, Stormy, and Savi learn of the magic in the family they also learn of the evils set out to kill them. Can they band together with the family who was framed to look like they betrayed the sisters in the past life?
Cursed was not my typical choice in genre, but I was excited to read an ARC of this book for review. It was a very enjoyable read. I found it easy to get wrapped up in the story from the very first page. Cursed began with a great deal of action and hooked me right away. I wanted to know more about all of the mysterious happenings and strange behavior towards the sisters from those around them. As the mystery began to unfold, it seemed I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out more. The characters in Cursed were very rich and entertaining. They had a good depth to them, which made them a joy to read. Cursed felt like such a race against the clock. I was constantly on the edge of my seat needing to know what would happen next. There were so many twists amd turns. It was really brilliantly written. As I continued reading there were many interesting turns of events, such as when a third force seemed to be at work against the sisters. The thought of something so dangerous that the vampires would consider working alongside the witches had me worried about what was coming. As the sisters began to come into their powers, things really started to heat up in this race for knowledge and power. I wasn't sure who to trust completely as the story raced toward its conclusion. I knew the sisters had been betrayed in the past by someone close to them, and now in the present, I wasn't totally sure who the betrayer could be in this circle of magical people. This never-ending suspense was very well done. I was somewhat disappointed in the ending. I was really expecting more of a battle against the impending evil and I also wanted more answers. I enjoyed reading Cursed, but felt a bit deflated at the anticlimactic finale. I really thought that it would mirror the past betrayl that they constantly made reference to, but after a short skirmish, the battle ended for the time being. I was just expecting more after all the fabulous build-up. Overall though, I really did enjoy this book and am looking forward to reading more from this author.
A town called Discovery near Salem where three triplets called the Davidsons learn that the reason why the town members have been looking at them funny is because there really witches. After learning this fact the three sisters do everything they can to learn their powers, quickly so they can banish the evil causing chaos in their town. This story is filled with magic and history and is very entertaining. Book 1 is really giving you some characters history and background and plotting up to tell us who is really the big bad is. I thought this book was a mixture of Charmed meets Vampire Diaries. Patiently awaiting book two. Reviewed by Jennifer
This story hooked me immediately! I am cautious at times with paranormal because world building is extremely important to me. Skylar Mckinzie nailed it! There was so much depth that I felt I could dive right into the pages and walk around.
The author also did an excellent job on character development. I appreciated the author didn't focus solely on the three sisters, but instead added that same level of complexity to other characters. That is a sign of a fantastic writer. The backstories were clearly defined.
There was a great deal of action and suspense. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I need book 2 because I have so many questions!
I did deduct half a star though because with all of the fantastic buildup I felt like the climax wasn't as detailed as it could be which was disheartening. However, that was only one aspect to the book and everything else flowed extremely well.
Who doesn’t like a book about witches and of course a curse... Cursed pulls you in right from the start, and you have to keep turning the pages to see what is gonna happen next.. it’s definitely is spellbinding!
This book starts with a bang and doesn't let go! I love the thread of history that runs through the story and how the past and present collide as the sisters find their powers. Great start to a series, and I can't wait to read the next book!
This is an AMAZING start to the Born of the Blood Series!!!
This is the first book by Skylar Mckinzie that I have read and I was hooked from the very beginning!! Skylar has created a world filled with witches, vampires, wolves that seemed so real. I felt like I was a part of Discovery, MA. The characters were so easy to follow and I found myself fully invested in what happened to them as I read more and more of this story. Cursed was filled with mystery, drama, action, and romance...everything that I need for a great story!!!
I loved that each of the Davidson sisters were different. Savannah (or Savi) is my favorite out of the three. I really connected with her. I loved reading along as they discovered who they really are and grew into their destinies. The supporting characters were great as well!! I really want to know more about Megan!!
Once I started this book, I could not put it down!! The book ends closing the chapter on the Davidson sister's beginning to learn and embrace their true identities. I can not wait to find out what comes next for these characters!!!
I highly recommend this series to anyone who is a fan of paranormal reads!! This book will not disappoint!! It is well written...easy to follow and get lost in...and will leave you guessing what does Skylar Mckinzie have in store for her characters and her readers!!!
Very well done Skylar Mckinzie!! I can not wait to see what you come out with next!!!
