Blake Walker has gone rouge in San Fransisco with the help of Kyle to get closer to the man he is going to kill then he meets Kara.

Who is Kara?
What is she hiding?

This starts off their relationship that is physical lots of sex HOT sex, feelings begin to develop and soon they are both falling for each other and all the truths come out. Enter Royce and Luke to help get them closer to Alvarez and destroy his illegal dealings and the cartel.

This does finish with a cliffhanger the next book will be Kyle's story when he's going to be the hero that rescue's Myla.

Can these two broken people drawn together by their sizzling hot attraction see beyond their pain and their need for vengeance Undoubtedly, they will face the ghosts of their pasts, but will those ghost destroy them or forever bind them?

My Thoughts

Now that i've rediscovered the series of the walker men, i'm so glad that we finally get to have Blake's story. The entire time that we've known these guys, he's always been described as the 'loose cannon', living hard and working hard...playing hard even more. All because of the death of his fiance at the hands of a cartel king. its been his life's goal to bring the guy down and now he's finding his chance becoming much more real. That's where we spend this story - with him embedding himself into the organization of one of the king's main guys and trying to get close enough to take a shot.

Of course, Kara, a wild card shows back up. I didn't read the prequel to this story about how they met, but we know that they have a past and her being in the office of the boss that he's meeting makes things that more complicated. it also makes his men very uncomfortable because they know that she drugged him, and that they were together. So lots of unknowns.

Kara has her own vendetta. we learn throughout the story that she's got her own agenda - her own reasons for trying to break into the cartel as well and she's going a bit rogue since we learned that she's also tied to organizations that maybe wouldn't be too pleased to learn what she's up to.

Then we have to remember that it's not just a dynamic plot that we get from Ms Jones, but instead, we also have to remember that there's going to be some explosive passion, tension and heat coming from these two. It's even better since there's clearly a love hate thing going on and that makes it so much hotter. I think the way this relationship developed and how it continues through this installment makes things that much more interesting. each has their secret that they don't want to reveal and then their own pride is of course at stake as it always is. So who will get shot, captured, lied to etc is anyone's guess.
The bit that comes to a head at the end is what gives us a teaser into the first installment of another series spinoff. We learn that Kara has a sister that she believe has been trafficked by the cartel and that's what she's searching for. Once learning where she is and who she's with makes is that much harder given their past, and when the sister Myla is taken away again, we see that Kyle, Blake's tech guy is on it. He's found something otu that we aren't quite sure what it is yet, and he's on the trail to figure out how to solve that one to bring Myla back. Which is where we are left, and i can't wait to track down that series now so i can find out what kind of man Kyle is.

Not my favorite book in the series but still enjoyed it.
Blake Walker left behind the ATF when his fiance was killed in the line of duty. Now his main goal is to get his vengence on the man that took her from him. Deep under cover he runs into a road block, a woman that he is attracted to in a way he cannot explain.

Kara is on a mission of her own and if she has to use Blake to get it she will do what it takes. However Blake doesn't seem at all like the other people in the Cartel. However, Kara soon learns Blake has his own secrets and his own agenda. However she will not risk her mission for anything.

Can the two work together or come apart due to their own agendas.

Blake has been my least favorite brother in this series but the others are hard to beat. He is still alpha. Kara is a strong woman but is torn between her feelings for Blake and her goal to save her sister.

I liked the first book better.

Blake uses his past as an excuse to be a boot of the first order. Kara does a lot of protesting, but yields every time because Blake touches (gropes) her. For an FBI agent, she comes across as rather helpless. There's a lot less of a plot to the third book than there was to the first (Royce's story), which I liked much better. Was the author tired of the Walker brothers? Or was she just looking for a thin plot to string steamy sex scenes together? I generally like Lisa Renee Jones' books, but this one was disappointing.

After reading the short story I had some theories on what would happen in this one. I had a few theories and I’m happy to say one of them didn’t pan out. I worried that we would have someone come back from the dead. I hate it when that trope pops up.

Blake was an interesting character. For the whole series we’ve heard of Blake’s death wish in his crazy behaviors and boy did we see them. I did like that Kara got one over on Blake when she drugged him. I was glad when Kara let her secrets out, it showed that they were both on the same team and were able to work together better. Like his brothers, Blake wanted to protect Kara, but she didn’t want the protection and went to her go to tricks.

The ending was a bit shocking. It didn’t really bring Kara comfort, but at least she has Blake around to ease her.

Blake gets his chance at revenge . . .

Overall - 4.5stars
Performance - 5stars
Story- 4stars

Blake finally get his chance to get close enough to take his revenge. He just was not prepared for the stumbling block placed before him or the secondary direction of his efforts. All the Walker brothers come to have a part in this one and the Walker associated take a step toward a bigger spotlight. I got so much in this one that I may have been just a bit overwhelmed of underwhelmed depending on how you look at it.

Eric Michael delivers yet again.

Blake is out for revenge but he has someone in his way. Kara, who we met in the novella previous to this, is back and she is not who she is says she is. Blake is ex-ATF and now he and his brothers have a security firm but he has gone rogue wanting to kill the man responsible for the death of his fiance. Kara is FBI but on absence looking for her sister and will not let anyone, even Blake and his brothers get in her way. However, will working together bring about what both of them need?

Oh my, this Walker brother is the most intense and kinky (?!) :)
The chemistry between the main characters is absolutely explosive, but what really got me was how their shared trauma and the quest for vengeance create this incredibly intense emotional connection. The way Lisa Renee Jones weaves together the suspense with these raw, emotional moments, you'll be holding your breath one minute and fanning yourself the next!

Beneath The Secrets, the last of the Walker Brothers story is different but just as enthralling. These brothers' family values are exceptional. They are there for each other through thick and thin. Have to love them.

Blake is the baby of the family. For two years now, he has lived for nothing but revenge for someone who was taken from him in a brutal manner. He left the ATF to join his brothers in Walker Security whilst waiting for his vengeance. He lives in the fast lane. Women and fast cars. There is no way that he is ever getting involved with a woman again. Well! He is in for a surprise.

Kara works as a secretary for one of the most dangerous cartels. She too, has lost someone she loves and will go to any length to uncover the truth. Her first encounter with Blake didn't end well but why worry? She is unlikely to meet him again.

Blake goes to work for the cartel without his brothers knowledge. It would appear that he has gone rogue! When he attends his first meeting with his new boss, he is greeted by Kara. Surprised? You bet! Instantly they become wary of each other but the chemistry that surfaced during their first encounter still lingers. They end up working together even though Kara is dead against being that close to him. As for Blake, it's a question of keeping the enemy closer. They don't trust each other but the heat between them sizzles and hot sex follows at every opportunity. They become to realise that there is more to them that they think. Feelings start to materialise and, inadvertently they become aware of each other's identity. This doesn't help as Blake feels like he is back to this dark place. Not that he was ever out of it!

It turns out that there is more going on in the cartel than just drug trafficking. They are in more danger than anticipated. Can they achieve their objectives and get out?

Kara and Blake make a great couple as they are quite alike in many ways. They are both loyal to those they love. This instalment spells danger. It has plenty of action, mystery and sex. I like the way Kyle is portrayed and the end leads flawlessly to Deep Under where Kyle is the hero.

I have enjoyed reading every book in this series. The Walker brothers are addictive!

I so wanted this to be a 4 star read but I just couldn't get there. I loved the tough guy exterior and whole tortured soul bit for Blake. Kara was a strong female lead but I tired of her constant waffling "oh I was wrong, he doesn't care about me or my sister, oh wait he does care, no I guess he doesn't". It was like she didn't hear half of what was said. Even when the entire Walker tough guy contingent said they were on it, it was still not enough. And I have to say as much as I love the sexy, steamy parts, this one was just too much. Every few pages was another sex driven interaction. It just wore on me after awhile. The clincher was the ending. That really ticked me off. It just ended rather abruptly for Kara and Blake and then a teaser of Kyle going after Myla and then done, finito! No other mention of the brothers, nothing. Obviously now there's another book to come but not a word about it on her website. Hopefully that will change soon.

2.5 stars. I didn't like this one as much as I liked the other two books. It had really great elements, but it was hard to believe it all happened in two days. The timeline really didn't work out for me. If all this had been spanned in a few weeks, then it would have made more sense, but it was insta-love with so much happening in just one afternoon/night: they left Mendez office, went to his hotel, had sex, talked, ate pizza, went to her appartment, had sex again, went to see the warehouse, met Ignacio, made out in the truck, had drinks with Ignacio, had sex again, she left to help the girls, he found her, had sex again, and still wasn't daylight? It really threw me off, just is a shame, bc if I ignore the *all in one night* part, this is really a great plot!

I look forward to read more about Kyle!

The couple: Blake and Kara

Romance trope: Romantic suspense
Series: Tall, Dark & Deadly
Length: 268 pages

Plot: Blake is on a mission to take down the cartel leader that killed his fiance. In the process, he meets Kara, who isn't exactly what she seems. She's also on a mission but feels she can't share her burdens. When they come together, they'll have to decide to trust each other before they can put their pasts to rest.

Commentary: This didn't really feel like a romance to me. It was heavy on intrigue laced with two people who were so snippy with each other that it wasn't pleasant to watch. With Blake on a suicide mission to avenge his lost love, he wasn't going to allow himself to fall in love and he made sure that Kara knew it. She reacted similarly, unable to focus on anything other than getting her sister back. They both seemed to be unable or unwilling to work with anyone else to get what they wanted and honestly, if you're trying to take down a cartel leader, wouldn't you want all the help possible? At any rate, part of that is my fault - I don't normally like a law enforcement heroine, with a few exceptions, and Kara was emblematic of the reasons I don't like them: she was tough, but not as tough as she thought, she refused to let anyone help her because she didn't want to be seen as weak, and she played into and fell prey to the feminine stereotypes that people often use as arguments against women in those sorts of jobs.
This just wasn't the story for me, unfortunately. I'll read this author again though - I loved Reese and Cat's story so much!

Previous book in the series: Dangerous Secrets
Next book in the series: Deep Under

Infiltrating a drug cartel is not an easy task, and Blake Walker is on a mission to do just that. After his chance encounter with Tiffany Snow, Blake enters the office of second in command, Mendez's office and who should be his secretary, but the woman who knocked him off his axis and took pertinent information from him! Now he gets the chance to work side by side with her, find out her secrets and what her motivation is. This fast paced, suspenseful romance will have you hooked and wanting more. Each have their own motivations, but now with their growing feelings for each other, will Blake and Kara be able to achieve their wanted results? With pasts each has to overcome, Jones has given us a story to invest in and enjoy. This one does have a slight cliffhanger, so get the next book queued up! You will want it.

Eric Michael Summerer continues his amazing narration of this series, he is the Walker brothers to me and gives them that masculine feel while also having that tender side. A master at his craft, it is a pleasure to listen to him.

Good storyline that was a bit overwhelmed by the unwillingness of the MCs to communicate. There are some more TSTL moments. Lauren is an in your head writer so always expect more head banter than actual communication.

The H was the typical dominant male with a soft side and possessive streak while the h was something else. The h is overly stubborn and defies all training multiple times throughout the story. This book is definitely made to give you a taste of what is to come.

Well I knew before going into this one that I was going to enjoy the hell out of it. And I did. I started reading Lisa Renee Jones with her Dirty Rich series and already loved the Walker brothers. Kara was also a fantastic tease in this series so I was really excited to read her book.
Kara is smart, persistent and driven while trying to track down her sister who has gone missing. Blake is a man on a death mission to take out a criminal who killed his fiancee 2 years ago. He is overbearing, protective, and hellbent on revenge. These 2 characters crash into one another and sparks fly. I really enjoyed this one from cover to cover. NO spoilers here, but you will NOT see that ending coming. And the last 2 pages, you're killing me smalls. Thank goodness I have only to download the next one to see where that story line goes. I can't wait.

I wasn’t as connected to Blake and Kara as I was with their brothers in their stories. Having met Blake in the previous books, I was expecting a bit more broody from him.

Since it’s considered a standalone and having read the previous books prior to this one, I can feel a gap. All while reading Blake and Kara’s story, I felt disconnected from it all. Something just felt missing and I’m thinking maybe it could have used a bit more character development for both; especially Kara. The story felt like it just jumped into action without letting me get to know the characters first.

I definitely enjoyed the first two books more.

Surprising

When I first started and after a few chapters, I was thinking about stopping, mainly because I didn't remember about the previous book with Blake and Kara and didn't know what was going on. But my experience with Lisa Renee Jones has always been a 5 star read, so I continues and so glad I did. I'm a little sad it ended in a cliffhanger, but that's also Lisa Renee Jones's writing (hence, In and Out series). I will be happy to find out about Myla's journey and the continuation of Blake and Kara's jouney.

disappointed

I was a little disappointed and let down with this book. I was really looking forward to Blake's story I knew from the other two books that he used sex as a way to feel, but it was a little too much with these two and it seem that's all they had. There was really nothing about his brothers mention in the book but that Royce was expecting. Just felt like it was rushed. I will say this was a very good series and I'm looking forward to reading more of Lisa Renee Jones books

Another great read in the series

Blake is after Alverez, the man who killed his partner. First he has to get inside the cartel. On a supposed exchange he meets Kara and the heat explodes between them, but she drugs him and disappears. Then he finds her working for the cartel and also realize tnere is more going on then he knows. Can Blake uncover Kara's secrets and will it help or distract him from getting his revenge . Will his need for revenge end up in disaster? This is a fun fast read

Tall, dark and awesome 😎

I'm sorry but I can't choose which book I love the most because they are all intriguing and addicting. Blake and Kara are each others savior, but they are in need of closure. Blake for losing his fiancé Whitney and Kara losing her sister Myla's freedom to the same man Michael Alvarez AKA notorious kingpin. They both need their happily ever after.
Off to read Deep Cover Book 4 Myla and Kyle's story

I am not sure how I would feel if I saw the woman that rocked my world but also gave me the worst hangover/food poisoning concoction ever. I probably want to reach over and touvh her around her neck, but in the same token he didn't do that. His craving was for her was beyond his current understanding. That saying a little too late comes to mind in both instances.

Trust is everything.

Kara and Blake are both undercover for their own reasons and really don't trust each other, but slowly, their attraction has them lowering their walls enough to work together. This one I was able to put down many times and still keep up with the storyline while on vacation. Not quite as good as Books 1 and 2, but good enough. Now on to the next....

This series had a hot beginning. The second book was pretty good, but this third book seems a bit too repetitive for me. I felt like I was able to guess what would happen next because the previous books have a similar plot.
