"I'm not a ghost. I'm real and this job won't last forever."

Damage is the fifth book in the Lakefield Series and it comes with a sack full of surprises. Not only is the story suspenseful and gripping, but it's also funny and entertaining. I had a great time reading it, and enjoyed every minute.

"I just want a little bit of that sunshine you have, Suzie. Whatever you can give me, I'll take."

Suzie is a great heroine: brave, self-confident, determined, caring, loving. I already liked her during her short visits in other books of the Lakefield Series, so it was easy to fall in love with her in Damage.
I'm glad she got her well deserved happy ending, even though it took a very rocky and dangerous road to get there.

"He felt like home to me. Safe harbor against everything in the world that had tried to tear us down."

If you are up for a roller coaster full of emotions, thrill, and a hot alpha male, Damage is definitely your book!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

P.S.: My absolute favorite of this series is by far "Chase" (book 4), closely followed by "Break" (book 3) ;-)

This is the fifth book of the Lakefield Series by Jennifer Vester and I gotta say that this one is my second favorite of the total five books :)

Cade and Suzanne have been through a lot and I mean a lot but they are both survivors, and go forward, fighting every day to be strong and leave the past in the past... but sometimes the past can come out to haunt you in ways you couldn't imagine... no spoiler here...

These two have intense chemistry together and I loved how Suzanne is such a sassy and feisty woman when Cade returns after months of disappearing on her after stating his intentions towards her... Everyone though he was dead, go read Break, which is the third in this series and you'll understand better but well she gave him hell, she was hurt, felt betrayed and angry and it was well deserved towards Cade (I think I would've have nut twisted him) but when they FINALLY do get together and in the steamy scenes ;) it's smoking hot, intimate and emotional at the same time.
These two have to go through a lot of obstacles, a lot of twists and turns that some I didn't expect, including a manic killer (and there's a twist there of who it is that blew my mind away) to reach their happily ever after <3

I'm glad that Jennifer Vester gave Suzanne her happily ever after with her true love, Cade <3 I was sad when she suffered thinking Cade was dead in the book Break but Jennifer Vester knows how to surprise us and she definitely did just that ;)

WOW! Can I give it more than 5 stars??? This is the book I have been waiting for since Break. OMG, I have to say Jennifer Vester just gets better with every book. This book was freaking awesome! In typical Jennifer fashion once you think you know what's happening she smacks you up side the head with a plot twist!! Once you pick this book up be prepared to tune everything else out until you have read the last word. . .

Suzanne is trying to pick up the pieces of her life after the death of Cade and ended up in a really bad relationship with David but she has broken free and has decided to leave Lakefield and head to Bakersville to be close to her mom.

Yet soon she realizes that her new job is not what she has expected and she also learns that a serial killer is on the loose.

When Suzanne finds herself the latest target of the serial killer will she allow her past back in or will she stand straight and rely on the FBI to help protect her? Can Suzanne get over the hurt from the past and move onto a positive future?

This book was great from start to finish and with quite a few twists and turns to leave you shocked and wanting more!

I completely understood why Suzanne needed a fresh start and I was very mad at her for getting involved with David although I did understand that she was hurting. She has a great personality and I love that she doesn't back down! Her shock at seeing certain things was completely warranted and I understood why she was mad and upset.

Mark made the decisions he needed to and I did understand his reasoning behind why it had to be him. I knew things would get crazy though with trying to keep everything together and under wraps.

I was so mad at Suzanne and her decisions to put herself at risk but I was very glad that she was able to reach out to Logan! There were so many twists and turns regarding the case and what was going on that I could not put the book down!!

All of the reveals were intense and I just needed to have more!!

I was completely shocked at the end and it kind of leaves you hanging a bit so I am hoping there will be another book!!

Oh, if this wasn't the perfect book to round out the Lakefield men! Suzanne is just trying to move past losing someone very important to her (though she wasn't sure how important she was to the person she lost), which helps her make the decision to move to her hometown in order to care for her only remaining family member. Unfortunately for Suzanne (or fortunately, depending on your view), her move brings her into contact with the one person she cared the most about, as well as dropping her square in the path of a killer. With the twists, turns, and "what the WHAT just happened" moments we've come to expect from this author, this book has easily become my favorite of this series, as well as probably my top five of the year (and I read a LOT). This story brought all of the men from the first four books together (and I do mean ALL of the group of friends that we loved from those books) to deal with Suzanne and her man's drama in fantastic ways.

Notice I haven't said WHO her man is. Trust me, you'll want to read this book, because everything you thought was true from an earlier book is turned on its side with this one. I found myself reading slower as I got toward the end, and not because I didn't like the book. I slowed down because I knew that the end was coming, and I just wasn't ready to let go of these characters. The epilogue gives us the feeling of a happy, complete series, but I would still love to see more from the Lakefield crew. I laughed, I teared up, I wished that there was more to read. Overall, this was a great book and I would recommend it to anyone looking for romance that isn't too sappy and that comes with drama, guessing, and suspense, all in one neat package.

*** I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***
This is such a great series! Before I started book 1, I had never read a book by Jennifer Vester. Now when I hear her name, I know I am going to look forward to her books! Each of these men from the Lakefield series deal with real life and everyday issues! These books are realistic in nature and relationship issues. It is truly refreshing to read something that I don't need to question all the info in the book.
Cade and Suzanne are great together. Now I know why there weren't names in the synopsis. We read about Cade in some of the previous books and I was happy to read his happily ever after. This book will keep you on your toes as there is one surprise after another. At one point I though someone gave her something but then it was actually the stalker.
OMG ... I couldn't believe who the stalker was! I was shocked and surprised they were able to full Aiden's team. Like how did they not have background checks done on these guys families so they know everything. He was so sneaky and totally not who I thought this was going to be. But wow. Jennifer did a good job keeping me on my toes and wondering who it was.
If you haven't started this series yet, I suggest you go grab book one! These men and this amazing family they all created is a wonderful book world!

Cade, who we've thought was dead, isn't so dead. Not going to tell you why he had to leave Lakefield, just going to say it's a really good reason. Also going to say that when he meets up with Susanne again, she doesn't let him off too light. Angry and hurt doesn't even begin to describe how she feels. And she most definitely let's him know. Cade being gone for months, doesn't let a moment go by before locking her down. Something she's not exactly on board with at the moment. But when Cade's mission hits close to home, neither are ready for that, and his old team gets called in. There's some drama that goes down and I mean DRAMA. The kind that'll have you putting your reading device aside, wondering to yourself how she could do this to us, (the she being Jennifer Vester) before you continue reading, only to have your mind blown even more. Let's just say she finished off this particular group of Lakefield men in a big way. Things you thought you knew. You didn't know. If you have any preconceived notions throw them out, because this book will go a completely different route. This was the perfect ending to the Lakefield series. Love, love, loved it. I received this as an arc for an honest review and this is me honest.

I have really enjoyed this series and an sad that it is ending! I feel like I really got to know all of the characters. I especially like how all the characters keep on touch throughout all of the books.

This final book is about Cade and Suzie. They have quite an unconventional love story. You know, the kind where someone comes back from the dead?!

Suzie was in love with Cade but never told him. She didn't want to complicate their working relationship. But life is too short... Cade gets caught up in a gun fight in a previous book and dies. She never got to tell him her true feelings. Finding that there is nothing keeping her in Lakeview anymore, she moves to Bakersville to take care of her mom.

Cade, who was never really dead, has been enlisted by the FBI to find a notorious serial killer. He's under cover working as a bar manager when in walks in Suzie!

To complicate matters, the serial killer has chosen Suzie for his next victim!

This book has it all... action, love, and just enough naughty bits!

Suzanne has had enough. With her mother's health concerns she makes a decision. Heartbroken and unsettled what else can she do. This author, man gotta love her. For all of the giddiness from one of the reveals in this book she may have redeemed herself on one point but the twist that she has going on in this book will continue to knock you for a loop clear to the end. Nothing is what it seems and people are not who they say. Between the FBI and the guys Suzanne's life will never be the same. And although it sounds cryptic, not all change is bad. Just know whatever it is, Suzanne won't be handling it without giving them all hell.

Awesome read. Hate that the series is ending. These guys and their women have brought me laughter, a racing heart, more twist and turns than the law allows and some hot and passionate make up sessions. These alpha crazies and the wild women who love them have dealt with some pretty major everyday issues which just make us love them more.

I have been trying to think of a way to urge you to READ this book withouth giving away the twists and turns of the plot. I think the best way to do this book justice is to tell you it is the best in the series. It has all of the makings of an already great series...great chemistry between the characters...dedicated alpha male and a dash of suspense thrown in.
This story is about Suzanne, who has moved from Lakefield. Partially to care for her ailing mother, and partly to recover from a profound loss she and her Lakefield friends suffered in a previous book. She wants to move on, and so she finds a job at the local bar in her hometown.
She feels a connection with her boss...a connection so intense it brings back past feelings. The way that the H/h connect is fantastic.
And the twists..one is revealed pretty quickly, but one...didn't see that coming! Which is rare for me in a book.
Fantastic job by the author. She has risen to total one click status!

Suzanne has had it with the heartache and sorrow that is everywhere she looks in Lakeview. Falling for her boss Cade but never telling him, the regret has cut her to the bone. So she decides to move back home to be there for her mom and see if she can't restart her life. Working in bars and such has always been her go to for employment. So when she gets back to town, she head for a hot new club to get a job. But that is where things spin out of control. Will Suzanne have what it takes to survive?

This is the final book in the Lakeview series and I have adored every single one. There isn't much that I can say that won't reveal more than I want. Just please read the first four books in the series before you dive into Damage. It will be worth it, I promise. There is so much that has led up to this story and it was amazing to watch it all come together. Jennifer Vester is an amazing author and I am completely addicted to her stories.

Suzanne is upset that she never got a chance to tell Caden that she like him and wanted to maybe try to date him. He was killed and left her wondering what to do now. She decided it was time to move back home and help her mom out since she was slipping from time to time. She found a job and that job had surprised her with the one thing she thought she would never see again. Caden who was now called Mark. Everything was happening so fast but Caden was on a job and no one knew. She wasn’t sure what to do but it took time and some talking and understanding to see that he was upset for what was going on. Still on the case and wanted Suzanne away till it was over but she is stubborn and he hates it. Will they solve the case? Do they get a happy ever after? Love this series.

WTF! I'm at a loss for words. I'm pretty sure I am in what is considered a book hangover, AND it is so worth it. This book was AMAZING! It is so worth it. Jennifer takes us on a rollercoaster of emotions. Each one of her male characters are hot and freaking ALPHA to the nth degree and Cade is no different. Suzie is a strong female character who is perfect for Cade. Her spunkiness rivals all the other girls put together and that is saying something since 1 of her best friends is Olivia. I will not post any spoilers, but I will say this: Everything is not as it seems, there are some grey areas and can I please have Cade?

Fantastic and mind blowing in every way. Damage does Damage to your heart and soul in such good and bad ways that you can’t help but love every minute of it. These two have such electric chemistry that you can feel it from your fingers down to your toes. They are so stubborn and fierce but also sweet and insecure. The love and loyalty drips off the pages and makes you swoon. Then the drama and the crazy twists will rock your world. I wanted to cry when I got to the last page.....I’m not ready for these spectacular stories to end. Jen, this series will definitely go down as a favorite of all time because it is a 10 Star read that grabs your heart and burrows into your soul.

Absolutely fantastic! Make sure you have plenty of time because you won’t want to put the book down. Cade or Mark as he is called now had to fake his own death to protect his closest friends. Before this event he had a flirting relationship with a waitress Suzie never asking her out but always flirting and bickering with her. After his death she moves to get away from the memories of Cade but when she takes a new job guess who is her Boss?? Cade!!!! He is alive and well and will she forgive him for all that he has had to do to keep everyone safe. Can be read as a stand-alone

This book has so many twist and turns it makes you throw your hands up and go why. This the the 5th book and last in the series. Suzanne is a waitress at Muse. She's had a huge crush on her boss Cade but did nothing about it. She was sassy when Cade was around. Then the worst happened. Cade died. It broke her. She was numb for days when she found out he was gone. It took her 8 months to  save enough money to move home and help her mom. She walks in to her new waitress job and meets her new boss Mark. Mark is a jerk. But sparks fly.

Omg I can't believe it's all done. Cade and Suzie were the perfect way to wrap up such a beautiful story. All the boys were amazing but this story I think may have stolen my heart. Cade is without a doubt one of the biggest assholes in his group but he has the biggest heart. And sweet Suzie girl is really just the perfect ray of sunshine. Those two damaged souls were made for one another and watching their story unfold was amazing. Ms. Vester knocked it out of the park and totally knocked my socks off! It was a privilege to read this series!

Cade is dead and Suzanne is heartbroken. She wishes she had made her feelings known. She wishes she had been with him, kissed him, loved him while he was here. The constant reminder of him at Muse and the fact her mum needs more help spur her into moving back to her hometown. Her first day at her new job has an unpleasant, yet not surprise for her when she meets Mark, her new boss.
Throw a psycho serial killer into the mix and you have an excellent end to a fab series.

Another book in the Lakefield series and this one is crazy action packed. Suzanne is set to start her life over, the last thing she needs is man who is not who he says he is. Cade is back, bet you didn't see that coming but boy will you be glad he returned. This is the story of Suzanne and Cade, its full of action, secrets, love and a killer. I'm just going to leave my review at that. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK, SO GOOD!!

I enjoyed reading the Lakefield series. Damage was a fast paced, easy read and very hard to put down. This Suzanne and Cades story. When book 4 ended I felt bad for Suzanne when Cade died. I was excited to learn that wasn't exactly true. In this book lots of things happen with Cade and Suzanne's relationship. It's not a easy feat dealing with an Alpha. Helps to have a strong minded and willed heroine. This book was the perfect ending to this series.

I am so glad I discovered Jennifer Vester and I absolutely love the Lakefield series........I really hate to see it end. So as not to spoil anything, the H & h are well written, interesting characters, with an intense attraction and smokin’ chemistry. The book moves quickly, has great twists and turns, and just enough suspense too keep you turning pages. Great read, great series!

A wonderful way to end the series. Lots of action, love and just ordinary living. A lot of secrets are exposed and everything ties together very well. Although a stand alone, I would strongly suggest you start reading at book nr 1 as all of the books include detailed descriptions of all the characters. A very good series.

I loved this book and it was a great final addition to a brilliant alpha romance series.

I didn't see the twist of this story coming so it was a nice surprise to read about these 2 characters. I don't want to say much and ruin the surprise but it was a really good story line and obviously includes a sexy alpha and a fierce strong female.
