The book in my opinion is VERY expensive and overpriced. This book covers Mario's life in great detail. It is very sad not many people understood the true Mario, nor appreciated him while he was alive. It was amazing to read how he evolved in life from a regular guy to Opera singer. It was so sad his life ended so early and such a tragedy that followed his death.

it was a good book, telling of his early life, his career and his tragic death at the age of 38 in 1959

Wonderful Comprehensive Biography of an Incredibly Influential Tenor

We have his wonderful films and magical recordings preserving his unique tenor voice but ....oh what might have been. The opera world lost quite possibly it's brightest light.

This poignant book is obviously written by someone with great appreciation and admiration for the late tenor. Although he sometimes tries too hard to prove how good Lanza was. The proof, however is in the best part of the book, the CD of rare live performances of Mario himself. The CD alone is worth the cost of the book for the avid Mario Lanza fan.

Mario Lanza always intrigued me with his magnificent voice and early death. Armando Cesari's biography does great justice to its subject in its depth, structure, and awareness of the legend and the man.
