Caine becomes the chew toy of a powerful necromancer who wants to seize control of all vampires, and bring absolute death to all things. Caine’s werecat allies in Sacramento are attacked and forced to go on the run. Caine’s strongest ally is Kane, the first vampire, master of all the vampire clans. Obsessed with Caine, he will only lend needed support if Caine becomes a member of the royal vampire family by means of a shotgun wedding. And gives up his harem. In the midst of this, Vivian his Dhampyr girlfriend drops him for a much younger man. Caine is tempted to just let the universe die. Until he gains the questionable ability to grow a second cock. And where the hell did the kraken come from?
Born in Brazil on Lagoa (Witches Island), he came to the United States in his early teens. As a writer, he focuses on the paranormal and occult, adding a weird spin all his own to the Urban Dark Fantasy genre.
I just really enjoy writing and the urban dark fantasy genre lets me come up with some great stories.
TL;DR: Too much sex and WAAAY too many editing mistakes.
Overall the story is OK and seems rather phoned in. If you've read the previous installments, you'll know what to expect.
My biggest problems is the sheer amount of sex scenes. The first 30% of the book is pretty much one sex scene after another. It reeks of being filler text to fluff up the word count.
My other big problem is the overt lack of editing. There are spelling mistakes, grammar errors, missing words, wrong words, etc on near EVERY page. It's obvious he wrote the book and published it without even reading it once or having another person give it once over. Sloppy.
So, it was a good escape novel. Lots of blood and sex and death, but it has a ton of typos. New instead of knew, now instead of know, missing words here and there. All solved with a proofreader and a bit of effort.
Other than typos that threw me off, I enjoyed reading about Caine killing crap and banging babes. Good escapist series.
This is a great series, and for story and character progression this book is a great addition. It would have been 4/5 stars except for the bad editing. Normally well done, the editing in this book missed tons of homophones and misplaced words (esp. those ending in -er, -est, -ing, etc.) Even a few would be dismissed in light of the great story, but there’s just...so...many. It was as distracting as watching a movie with a loud talker 4 rows behind you: generally ignorable, but you wish they were gone.
Still: recommended for the awesome story, and if you’re a follower then you’ll read it anyway.
Haha witty and charming as ever, our wonderful Anti-hero strikes again in a vicious splash of hell, humor, and havoc! Can't wait to read the next book, as no other author successfully keeps me on edge and grinning with delight till the very last page. You never get bored, and you just can't skim a Deathwalker tale, you have to savor every moment! P. S. Don't keep us waiting!!
This is the series to read when you’re feeling like a brow-beaten, self-deprecating, pussy-whipped, good old-fashioned sadomasochistic sociopath with mommy issues. I love what Morgan has whipped up for us and look forward to his reassuring misogynistic rants and memorable one-liners. This may sound like a bad review but it just goes to show...you don’t know.
This has always been an interesting and entertaining series but I think this one falls just a bit short. Although I've liked some of the character interaction, some also felt a bit too forced. I'm also unsure about the way or the reasons of the revelation of supernatural to the wider world.
Guess I'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I'm now roughly 8 years into the series. Still kinda comic-book-funny. Sex & Action for the 13-y.o. boy some of us keep inside of our brains.
But: English is not my first language, and *I* could do a better job at proofreading than whoever did this. In fact I have my doubts that ANYONE bothered to check this book, before it got published.
Mr Blayde has yet again created another amazing rollercoaster of a story I could barely put down. Bring on the dragons and the demons and Gods,Goddesses. This is fairy tales for adults!!!! Can't wait for the next one!!!!! Highly recommended.
I love the series but this should have been longer and it needs a good proofreader which is why I gave it a three. There were far too many misspelled words or just wrong words. Blayde, you are capable of so much better work
Really good book. Nice continuation to the series and as always cain deathwalker as always is bloody awesome. Some typos but they didnt really bother me.
