Through Cary Siegel’s bestselling first book Why Didn’t They Teach Me This in School? 99 personal money management principles to live by he has educated and motivated over 200,000 people on improving their financial life. Now he is doing the same in regards to life management with his second book, Why Didn’t They Teach Me This in School, Too? 99 life management principles to live by. Written for his five children who are now in high school, college and the workforce, the author’s principles also apply to adults of all ages. In fact, by incorporating these easy life management principles, there is no doubt you will improve your current situation and make smarter decisions as you move forward in life. These are principles learned from real life experiences, not a textbook!
This book had some helpful advice. However, a lot of it seemed repetitive or obvious. I felt a lot of the worktips or the beginning personal development tips were very helpful. I actually picked up this book from the library, thinking it was his other book on personal money management. I still think this book has some good lessons to teach and some good advice, especially if you're entering adulthood. But if you already have been doing this song and dance for a while or are an older, more experienced person. This book will not apply to you.
Hey! Attain a million dollars by age 40! Good advice…for the most part, such as spend less money than you net and invest half of each pay increase. (My mayor would say invest “wisely.”) I might add, pay more than your required mortgage payment because it comes directly off the principle, and stop voting stupid.
I hope the school learn to provide this type of education for the future generations. People would be better off with more direction in financial areas. It was an easy read and I had my teenage son read it.
This is a follow up to the author’s first book but you don’t need to read it to understand this one. Though I highly recommend this book and it’s predecessor. Both books include enlightened and relatable advice to help with life’s curveballs.
