HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO SAVE YOUR SISTER FROM EVIL?
Shane Hanson is living a nightmare. Not only is his mother an escaped prisoner out to kill him, but he also suspects that his precocious half sister, four-year-old Neera, has inherited their mom's psychopathic tendencies. When Neera's father suddenly dies from a heart attack, Shane's even more convinced that Neera is a budding psychopath; after all, she triggered the deadly heart attack. The authorities reject the idea that Neera tried to hurt her father on purpose, but Shane sees increasing signs that something is wrong. He refuses to give up on her, though, believing he can fix her by raising her right. Before he can get far, Neera suddenly disappears and it turns out their mother has kidnapped the girl. Why, he can't be sure, but it's hardly for a good reason. Will Shane be able to find them before it's too late?

NOTE: HUNT EVIL is the final book in the Evil Trilogy. While the books are stand-alones, they are best enjoyed in order. So start with BORN EVIL.

Read this trilogy, do not be put off by the first book

There were some fantastic twists in this one, just like the 2 books before it. I got so frustrated with the protagonist in Born Evil that I stopped reading, if only I'd carried on I would have devoured the whole series. This final installment was easier to guess in some ways (but then, I tend to be very Sherlockian). Other twists came out of nowhere, but totally fitted in with the plot and storyline. Definitely a more satisfying ending than Gone Girl. Bravo Julia Derek.

I usually don’t write bad reviews. I’m not picky as a reader. While this book did keep me turning pages to see what would happen, I was ultimately disappointed.

The author broke the first rule of writing “show, don’t tell.” The entire novel is telling the reader about stuff that has happened or is happening instead of showing. The plot “twist” was extremely predictable and the motive and reasoning is tired and over-used. Characters were underdeveloped, and the most interesting parts of the story glossed over.

What??

Ok, I admit I read all three books. So the suspense factor was there or I wouldn't have. But other than that this book was crazy! Juvenile, amateurish, simplistic, and just plain silly. Author needs to hone her craft. But she gets points for outlandish creativity.

😊

Shane's mother is on the run after she escaped from prison. Living with his step father who legally adopted and his step sister who is now four years old. He has a desperate need to protect his sister from his Mother. His step father dies and his sister proclaims she killed him because he hurt her! Is history repeating itself? Shane learns that his sister demanded that her father swing her around the room, firing him out resulting in a heart attack. He begs her to go get help. She pretends to get help watching him die.
Few days later she is asking where her father is. Things start to come to light. She is caught watching torture videos on the internet, stating she likes to hear the lady scream. Her nanny has an accident. Shane knows he can turn his sister around. She is only four after all, right? Bright for her age.
But who is Sean? Shane sister gets abducted and the blame lands on Jennifer, his escapee mother. It has to be her. The clues to the crime, bracelet and a small dolls shoe on the roof of the penthouse. But now did she manage it?
While visiting his therapist Shane is convinced to get hypnotized again to find clues to the kidnap that he might not remember. Sean enters telling of horrific crimes, the murder of Shane 's Mother. While under his therapist calls the police and Shane is arrested. Shane goes under hypnosis again and Sean enters once more telling the story of selling the sister and how she wasnt kidnapped. The only problem is Shane and Sean don't know each other exist!

This book equalled the first in its twists and turns. The introduction of Sean was unexpected and I felt maybe a bit of a filler to try and tie the book up and give it a satisfying ending with another murder.

5-stars straight. WOW !!! AWESOME STORY. I didn't see the end coming but reading the first two parts made me suspicious that this book also wont be that straight forward. Such a twisted story with the even twisted ending.
Loved the writing style of Julia Derek. The whole time it kept me guessing that have I got the right guy or not. Usually series really gets boring by the time we reach the last book but not this one.

Highly recommended to all !!!

I enjoyed this wrap-up of the three book series.

Shane was now living with his step-father Ariel and little sister Neela, since his mother was arrested for multiple murders and escaped Ryker’s Island prison. He had to be on high alert, knowing she was capable of anything. What he didn’t realize is that right under his nose there was more to be concerned about. His psychiatrist, Dr. Navarro, would help shed some light. Genes not only traverse the physical, after all.

I knew from the very beginning what was going one, which, given that we knew very well the things Shane had gone through, and which was his mental state was to expect. But a lot of the horror here (particularly Neera's fate) felt gratuitous :(

The final twist wasn't even necessary, to be honest. Yes, it provided with a surprise, but one that gave nothing to the plot: shock for the shock's sake.

The narration was good, although, again, a bit of extra editing would have been nice.

MAY 2020 : 4 STARS. Shane Hanson is continuing to live a nightmare. His mother is an escaped prisoner and his precocious sister Neera has inherited his mom's traits.

The first two books of this series, Born Evil & True Evil, both received 4 stars. This third and final book in the series was just as good as the first two. Some great twists along the way that I didn't see coming, including the ending. Great way to end the series.

3.5 stars. Overall a great trilogy that had its thrills and twists. Shane is still on edge that his mother will come back for him, even with her being a prisoner. Shane also noticed some psychopathic traits that his 4 year old sister is portraying. Is psychopathy genetic? Shane tries his best to protect his little sister from any evil traits but when sinister actions take place, who is to blame?
(Such a hard review without giving anything away!!)

Did not enjoy this one as much as the other two, Shane’s “dreams” were just to much for me 🙄 was hoping for a “better” outcome/ending to the series. Writing was so so.. although it did keep me wanting to know!

An interesting turn in this book. Overall, I liked the trilogy. It wasn’t one that I’d actively tell someone to read, but I wouldn’t discourage it either (that is basically the definition of 3 stars, right??)

The writing continued to be poor......

Spoiler alert:

And that “twist” at the end? Let’s give him a psychopathic split personality. Seriously? Lame. I did like grandma taking him out at the end. Only saving grace

Twisted and Intense

The book was good. I had to sit and pay attention to it in order for me to really enjoy it. But it’s a great read and I would recommend it to anyone who likes books that keep you on the edge of your seat.

The third in this series, by reading all of them, you will have an unusual twist on murder and suspense. The audio was different with each, and gave one the added emotion and fear. Given ARC audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Reading this book, you wonder if it’s all in Shane’s head. Being that he has had hallucinations in the past, I couldn’t help but wonder what crazy made up story he was living. Turns out it’s a real, with a hell of a twist I didn’t see coming. Great ending to a great trilogy.

A great psychological story with many twists and turns

This is definitely a great psychological story with many twists and turns. It keeps you thinking throughout the book and second guessing your thoughts of who done it.

Was disappointed with the final book. I gave most of my review for the research author did regarding certain issues. Sorry Julia. But I do plan to read other books by Julia Derek.

The third and final entry in the Born Evil trilogy, the twists and tensions build up to an ending that is unexpected but rings true.
