The first rule of Star Factory is that every contestant has a hashtag. The second? Don't read the tweets.

The judges love me. The rest of America? Not so much. But they can't get enough of Jay freaking Silver. I can't stand his arrogant smirk, or the tattoo peeking from under his shirt. I guess the TV network agrees. So they give us an ultimatum: Go out together... Or go home alone.

I'm everything Aria's not. Raw, when she's refined. A screw up, when she's Lil' Miss Perfect. After six months behind bars, this show's my last shot. A chance to be the bad boy made good. But this ain't just a talent show. The producers want a story, and they'll stop at nothing to get it. They put us together, now they're tearing us apart. I want this more than anything. But I need Aria. And I don't know which to choose.
Starmaker is a full length, 65,000 word rock star romance. Paige is a romance addict, so you betcha there's a Happily Ever After, and never any cheating!>
Starmaker by Paige Quinn a five-star read that will make you see stars. This is my first book by this author and I will be looking for more from her, this was a fun take on reality tv and the relationships that can come from the strangest of places. Aria and Jay will surprise you and make you fall in love with them.
Thanks to the author for a copy to read and give my honest opinion. Sexy cover definitely caught my eye and the blurb was nicely done and cinched my decision to grab this ARC.
Starmaker has it all.... on set for an reality tv show kind of like American Idol, where singers can audition and then compete to stay on the show or given the boot. Everything seems fake like tv is and the drama is created ten fold. Two of the favored contestants get roped into a fake romance for ratings which later turns real. Jay and Aria let things heat up before everything starts getting real.
What did I like? It was a cute idea but it was very slow to heat up. I began the book thinking that Aria was a guy and this was a m/m romance. I guess because there is no description really of Jo until we really get into the story. Then as the story flip flops between her and Jay it just really pulled me in different directions.
Would I buy this book? Nope, I'm not considering this as a loaner book only because I felt it was a hard read and not exactly engaging one. I felt bored pretty much throughout the book, and I was glad it was a free read.
Thoughts for the author? This is pretty much my experience with this book. It didn't really suck me in and it might go better for those who love a reality tv show. I'm a reader and I don't watch tv....that maybe why it didn't suck me in.
This was a great story! I really enjoyed the characters and the look we got behind the scenes of the reality tv show StarMaker. This had a different spin on it and I really enjoyed that. It's well written and pulled me in from beginning to end. There are definitely some twists involved that will keep you guessing some. There was plenty going on to keep your attention. The sex is fairly explicit and not frequent. It's there and it does blend into the story but it definitely has a back seat to the rest of the story after the first time. The chemistry and the relationship does have a main focus the whole. I thought the story was well done and was entertained. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
So while this was not a true romance novel as I expected, I was surprised that it had so much other things happening simultaneously. Aria and Jay are reality contestants for a singing competition and this book gave a lot of details about back stage, production and the networks blatant and manipulative ways of tweaking ratings. Sort of a YA drama but not for anyone under the age of 17 as there were drug use and abuse, sex and foul language. Some scenes came off as manic and unnecessary but it also went a long way in explaining certain characters behavior. Did I believe the chemistry between Jay and Aria? Not sure but he did his best to shield and protect her. Not a bad story just don’t expect a romantic one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I loved this book! This is a new author and her first book, and I am hoping for many more. Starmaker is a different type of romance story than what we usually find. It brings us a singing reality show in which the characters become fast friends and realize that there is more going on than just singing. I was totally intrigued and read it in one day as I couldn't put it down. It is well written with a solid story line with characters that you definitely care about from the start. I am voluntarily reviewing this book for an ARC.
So,if took me two days to read this book and i had to go to work. This book has a love story, a suspense story line, and a little mystery.
The characters were not perfect. Most books have one character that is lost or bad and the other trying to change them. This book was two people looking for the same dream from different background but learned they could lean on each other. There is even some redemption in the end.
An entertaining read about Aria and Jay and other contestants on a reality music show and all the behind the scene workings and what it takes to get a show like Star Factory to the viewers and audience without all the backstage drama, betrayel and manipulations that happens off camera. Aria and Jay start of as a fake couple to get the ratings up and among all the chaos a real romance emerges.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
I received a copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A different look at reality shows with romance and heat. 😍
Jo or "Aria", just wants a chance at living life her way and that's as a singer/performer. James or "Jay" has a not so secret past and is just trying to get a second chance at life. Together, they have a chance for it all. It's an interesting book with a bit of heat and a lot of competition. 💖
This is the first book, I've read by this Author and it won't be my last. This book was more than a romance novel, and had some suspense in there. It really does make you wonder about what really goes on with reality TV and what's real and what isn't.
This is a book I'll read again and again and look for any hints to see if the author left any, knowing how the book ends. Can't wait to read more.
I didn’t think I was gonna like it after the first chapter but I absolutely fell into the book I wanted to watch this on TV. Those are the books I love where they feel so real this book is that. I loved the characters so much I laughed so much these guys were hilarious and heartwarming the way they cared was amazing. I recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books.
This was such a good book to read and my first by Paige. I loved that the story was about a group of people who were a mix of friends and family that were not perfect. I loved how the main characters fell in love, their chemistry was like a keg of dynamite waiting to blow when they were around each other so hot. I'd definitely recommend this book.
Main Characters: Jay & Aria I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. 2 out of 5 stars Sorry, I did not finish this book. It was boring, unlikable characters, not much romance, etc. I had a hard time following all the characters. I can't recommend it.
This book ticked all my boxes. I loved the author's writing style. The plot was unique. The characters, primary and secondary, were well-developed. The story revolved around music, which is my favorite type of romance to read. I'd love to read more of the characters in this book. I'm definitely a fan of this author's work. Can't wait for more.
This is a book about a TV show called Star Factory, No get through the audition but they tell she has to change her name, then told she has to have a fake love interest with Jay. This story is how they go through the show, how they fall in love for real.
Wow, what a story! It had my attention from the start and I loved Paige's detail - it had everything; humor, suspense and the oh so sexy ;) Holly was right Paige, you are going to hit it big with this book!
The story line was good and reasonable. With tension and the usual anxiety that accompanies a singing competition. Though the ending seemed somewhat rushed!
This story has a lot of drama, I had a hard time following all the characters in this story. The ending was rather abrupt and was missing some information. There is a lot of information in the story. But I found myself struggling my way through this book.
Never was a fan of live/virtual TV. So this wasn't feeling like a true romance. Vertical PG 13 Some intimacy scenes just not over the top. Quality of writing was good as well as the proofreading. No cheating or cliffhanger and you get a happy ending.
I ran across this book and decided to read it in between ARCS. This was a really cute, light hearted read with a little mystery suspense thrown in. I really enjoyed Jo (Aria) and Jay and the other characters as well. Especially the one's that made up #JARL.
Mystery surrounds this whole book. What you think is going on turns out to be something else . Kind of blindsided ya! I loved it. The pause is fast but it all gels together in the end.
First book I've read by Paige Quinn, and I'm pretty sure it won't be the last. Really enjoyed reading this book. Good story, believable characters. A bit of drama. A happy ever after. I'd recommend it
I really don’t like to leave a book unfinished but I was really close with this one. It was difficult to follow because there was so much going on and for the most part it just fell very lacking for me.
Author could have put in a ridge more background. Overall it was very good. Good amount of intrigue. I don't often like this genre this was the exception.
I received this book for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.
This is my 1st book by Paige Quinn that I have read & definitely won't be my last.
What a lot is going on with these singers for the competition for the reality singing show. We see a Josephine 'Jo' Avery Hemingford III/'Aria Roma/' who spent the majority of her younger years in hospital & Jay Silver/James Silverman, who's just not long come out from a 6 mths sentence & she's been wanting to sing for a good while whilst Jay just needed to change his life around. They BOTH were forced to GET TOGETHER to fake it but there's more to the show than what they all thought, but as soon as these 2 & the other 2 Rob & Lisa who finds out the truth wants to get it out there. So we see such deep connection & emotions in varied parts of the books. Couldn't put it down until I feel sleep.
