***This book was previously published in Amazon Kindle Worlds***
Joe “Highlander” MacLeod is a Navy SEAL, a special ops warrior, who has finally found the perfect woman to hold his heart. Detective Laura “Red” Pratt is a fiercely, independent woman who protects the unprotected, watching over all others. They are loyal, strong and good at what they do. Though their careers have created an unconventional relationship, their love and trust make it work.
Joe is proud to stand by Laura, protecting her from the monsters lurking in the dark. He has vowed to keep her safe until one day Highlander is called away on a mission and Laura is taken by one of the monsters that Joe swore to fight on her behalf. She thought she was tough, but being tortured has tested all limits – physically, mentally and emotionally.
Now it’s up to Joe to use his skills and join forces with fellow SEALs, Wolf and his team, to bring his woman home. She’ll need him more than ever before. Rescuing Laura is just the beginning of the fight to save the love of his life.
I'm of two minds about this one. There were parts that brought tears to my eyes, and there were parts that made me scratch my head. The rough talk of the cops - I assume to give us the message they that ladies were tough, just seemed unnecessary. Some of the editing is sloppy, with missing and repeated words.
The story is nice and the premise is also good. I'd like to read more about the Guardians of Hope, and I hope that these little issues get fixed. Joe and Laura are a nice couple, the SEAL's from Joe's and Wolf's teams work well together and the trafficking story is realistic. Apparently, Laura came from the same family that Cheyenne came from so thank goodness they got away!
This isn't a light hearted story where man meets woman and they ride off into the sun set. Laura and Joe are already in a relationship. The work that they do is not for the weak of heart. Joe is a Seal and Laura works for the sheriffs department task force. They dedicate their lives in protecting the weak and helpless. Laura and her partner are assigned a case of four missing teenage girls. Things get grim when Joe and his team are away on a mission, Laura and her partner are kidnapped and taken across the border. Need to know what happens next? Read the book.
This was a disturbing story and may cause triggers for some. While Highlander was gone on a mission his fiance Laura (Red) was working a case with Cortez (Taz) and they were abducted. They were trying to find 4 females that had gone missing from the arcade. They ended up where the missing girls were in Mexico. They both kept the interest on them and away from the girls. Wolf's team makes an appearance in this book.
Joe “Highlander” and Laura “Red” have been together for a year now. While Joe is off on a mission, Laura and her partner are kidnapped while trying to find four missing girls. A different team of Seals handles their rescue. I really loved the Joe and Laura’s first book and while I enjoyed this storyline it was much more intense than the first, without as much banter to break up the intensity. It’s still a great read though.
Wow! Fantastic! Very well written. Some new and old characters. It has a bit of everything. There's plenty of action, you won't be bored. There's romance. Joe sees to that. There's bad guys. What can I say. The guys do it. There is some sexual content to spice it up. An excellent story.
The story is good. The guest appearances of Susan Stoker's SEALs of Protection and Tex are big bonus points. But the book really needs some major editing, especially the last 30% of the book. I've read books with people talking with Scottish English before and had no problems, but at times it was very difficult to read what Joe was saying with all the te and ye thrown in each sentence
Saving Laura: WOW! It was intense, suspenseful, team and romance! Laura is a on a special task force for catching traffickers. She is dating a Scotsman who is a navy seal! Joe is madly in live with her and Cody! It keeps the reads on the edge of their seats. It was a fantastic story!
I read Protecting Shane before I read this. I liked that one so much better. This one has graphic Dom sex which is a big turn off and degrading. Still, I love the characters and the story itself.
This is a well written quick read. It was a good fit for this Kindle World. We get to see how this couple gets along once a year has passed. Great characters, love their humor.
I absolutely love this book and storyline and characters and we get to have wolf and his team and wives in it and I am such a fan of these two and want more from them .
Joe and Laura have been together for a year when she and Taz were kidnapped and taken to Mexico. Now Wolf's team is going to go to Mexico to rescue the girls. The two detectives try to keep the attention on them and save the 4 teenagers who were taken with them.
How does one go from being engaged to never breaking up and a proposal in the end?.... also too much of making it feel like a forced friendship when supposedly Laura is already awkward enough w new ppl.
Great book 2. Really enjoyed how Joe and Laura's relationship developed. I loved the way he addressed her insecurities and worked with her to start to overcome them. Looking forward to the next book!
I so enjoyed this story! There was lots of drama & even a kidnapping! I love me a kidnapping. ☺ The characters are solid and I'm a sucker for not only an alpha hero but one that has an accent! (Just fan me now! ) The heroine is very strong on her own and it made the story that much more enjoyable.
Since this story is a part of Susan Stoker's Kindle World we get to say hello to some of our favorite characters - love my SOP boys! All in all this was a great read and I am so looking forward to more from this author.
A sexy highlander and a kick-a$$ cop, what a great combination. I loved this story, the plot is fantastic, the characters are great and the writing is wonderful. Fabulous story K.D. Michaels!!
A Highlander and a Navy Seal, what could a girl want, ha its a dream come true, thank you K.D Michaels, for a cool and wonderful story.
Joe "Highlander" MacLeod is a Navy SEAL,who has found the perfect woman for him and only him, Laura (Red) Pratt is a woman who is his perfect match, independent who protects those unprotected. She is loyal, strong and what she does. They both have careers that have created an different relationship, their love and trust makes it work.
Now it's up to Joe to hone his skills and join forces with fellow Seal's, as Wolf and his team is assigned to bring his woman home. And now the fight to save the love of his life.
A great story with great characters and a big bonus to see other characters that are so so cool.
Laura and Joe now live together. They are making it work. Laura gets a call to go in. 4 girls are missing. While investigating, Cortez and Laura are kidnapped. Joe is on a mission. Wolf and the guys are sent in to rescue them. When they get back, Laura is struggling. She breaks up with Joe. Can he win her back?
Joe "Highlander" MacLeod is a Navy SEAL and Detective Laura "Red" Pratt is the woman he loves. While “Highlander” is away on a mission Laura and her partner are kidnapped and tortured, and it’s up to Wolf and the SEALs to save them from the monsters. Can she survive physically, mentally and emotionally and will “Highlander’s” love be enough to protect her when the monsters come back? Rescuing Laura is just the beginning. KD Michaels has created a wonderful story that really brings in the great characters of her books and interwoven some of the characters from Susan Stokers books. I really love the way this book crosses over and I think you will love this book as much as I did. I’m looking forward to reading more from KD Michaels in the coming years.
K.D. Michael's has written one kickass story about strong women police officers and the strong military alpha men who Love and protect them. Joe McLeod and Laura Pratt are a couple made in alpha heaven. She was raised in a family who put her down on a daily basis never heard anything good from her mother or sister. She fought hard for her law enforcement career working up to a special task force on human trafficking. She is a kickass, take names, and put the bad guys in jail type of woman. I loved Laura Pratt. She is the type of role model young girls need to see. Joe McLeod is the Scottish alpha military man who loves her and her son Cody above all else. When Laura and her partner are kidnapped while working a trafficking case little do the bad guys know what kind of trouble they have gotten themselves into. Between the police department brass, the Navy Seal teams, and Delta Force teams everyone is looking to rescue to police detectives and four young teenage girls.
I credit Michael's with a strong mastery of the story and characters with keeping the story line clean and concise. You never lose track of who is who and who they belong too. Great book...great characters...great writing...what more can you ask for!
Saving Laura is a great start to perhaps a new series
Saving Laura gives the reader the best of two authors plus you have a very Scottish Navy Seal and his very alpha girlfriend. Joe "Highlander" McLeod and Laura "Red" Pratt prove that a love as strong as theirs can overcome all obstacles to survive anything and everything. But when Laura is working on a kidnapping of four young girls that could be related to human sex trafficking, it will take Wolf and his SEAL team to get both Laura and her partner Cortez back.
When the two women find the girls they will take the physical abuse for the girls while not breaking when asked who sent them they'll give answers from Star Trek, Wars and if the Star Lord which the attackers don't take kindly too
But it's Caroline and Fiona who will help Laura the most and realize that she will be able to heal from the emotional trauma. I love how the SEAL of Protection guys and their wives are incorporated into the stories as well as finding new authors to read.
But it's the misspelled words, sloppy editing and repeated sentences that detract the reader from the story. I'd rate the book 4.5 stars.
This the 2nd story by this great author. I enjoyed her first one and this one did not disappoint! This had my 2 favorite characters (Joe and Laura) as well as Susan Stokers Seals (and their wives) in it. IF you read this book, be ready for action and drama and an all over great read!
It was a great book. Great plot. But seriously, you need a better proofreader. You're a talented author. Clearly. But the misspelled words and the sentence flow was lacking. I appreciated the attempt at the Irish (?) "accent" but it was hard to follow the story because, to me, it should be up to the reader to add the accent to the character in a book. Not try to "read" the accent. But again, the characters and the plot were good. I "felt" for them.
