I don't even know how to sufficiently explain what was in this book.
It reminds me of that game you play as a kid, where someone yells "freeze!" and everyone is stuck in place until they say "go" except you add a bunch of sex to it. Yeah, that's about it.
It's noncon and dubcon sex (or is it stopped-time-hypno-sex-unstop-double-hypno) between stepbrothers, no problem there. The first three pages are basically Brother 1 has the magic ability to stop time (this is a contemporary erotica setting, supposedly), so he wants to rim his stepbro while time is stopped. Ok.
Then unstop time. Do something something. Freeze time, fuck his bro, unfreeze time and hide in a closet to watch Brother 2 blow his load because of course when time is unfrozen he has his orgasm. Stop time, run out of closet go slurp up B2's load
Not only was it jarring to keep going back and forth with time stopped time unstopped, the sex descriptions were not interesting enough. Scenes weren't given time to breathe.
Moving along, a day later, B2 is in the bathroom contemplating his ass and fingers, B1 stops time, jumps in the shower to hide, unstops time to watch. Stop, unstop, something, freeze, unfreeze. B2 almost chokes on a bj load because unstopping time after filling your stepbro's throat sounds smart.
B1 runs away for whatever reason, who cares honestly, B2 decides to leap out of the shower and leave the water running for no apparent reason, and PLOT TWIST, B2 has the magic ability to snap his fingers once and hypnotize someone.
B2 snaps at B1, B1 is now hypnotized. 🤣
Shit, B2 realizes he left the water running!
So of course we get some hypnotized sex and payback time, etc.
Then we have some convoluted who is awake, who is stopping time, who is hypnotized, who is doing who and who knows who is doing it, all during sex.
Then another PLOT TWIST, B2 decides he is going to hypnotize HIMSELF by using his phone camera. I don't get the point of any of this.
“You still don’t get it, do you?” He said. (I don't get it.)
Maybe there's some double hypno going on or stopped time, but I don't care.
Oh, double-ended dildo which they struggle to use, which is odd since they both can do such magical things.
I think there was another plot twist in there, I may have missed, some shocker like B1 wasn't hypnotized he was alert during it all, muhahaha.
“Just FYI,” he said. “I’d hypnotized you to not actually time stop me.”

I thought this was really, really hot erotica. Don't judge me too hard. It does have editing issues, and I suppose some style issues as well but it just worked for me.
It's non-con...until it isn't. Well, it still is, but they're on an even playing field. Mutual non-con. I'd call it CNC but only one of them has a safeword.
Wonderful.
This is radically different from the only other novel currently published by this author (AFAIK). A Dream of Daisies was cute, light, and fluffy where this is dark, sexy, and twisted. I like both but YMMV.

I… did not like this. Sure, I’m not a fan of superpowers or pseudo-incest. But I loved A Dream of Daisies.
The content warning for this says it “is fun and darkly humoured”, but I, unfortunately, found it to be neither.
It was actually quite boring. I almost DNFd it. I knew it was bad when there was felching and I wasn’t one bit excited. And by the time the double-ended dildo came out, I was more thrilled about the book almost being done than the prospect of that dildo being put to use.
So, cottagecore omegaverse Lemi Young is most definitely more my speed than whatever this was. Maybe I would have liked it more if it just went the dark route and didn’t try at being fun or humourous.

Wow, what a crazy read. Two step brothers. Both with a little magic of their own that no one knows about, including one another. Undeniable attraction that neither wants to admit too. Whatncould happen?

Though what Paul is doing is totally wrong, he just can’t seem to help himself. In some ways he honestly does not want too. His attraction to Alex is too great even though he knows it is forbidden.
It takes Alex some time to figure out what exactly is going on, he cannot help but to give as good as he gets. See Paul does not know that Alex has his own magical power as well and Alex is about to not only get his revenge on Paul but he is also going to get what he wants in return as well which is Paul himself.
Can this forbidden passion between these two men actually work for the both of them? Will they ever come clean with the other about the powers they possess?
This was a short story that is more on the erotic side of things but it was a very amusing read at the same time. I really enjoyed this book. It is one of those books that even though it could be considered on the non consensual side of things at first, it is more of a mutual thing between the two without the words. Some may find it sort of disturbing but really it is just flat out amusing in the end. This is definitely a read that one has to be open minded about.

I made a goodreads account just so that I could leave a review on this and basically: I love it.
Bro Versus Bro is a dirty and self-indulgent delight, the kind where you can turn your brain off and just enjoy the ride. It's shameless super-power sibling sex shenanigans and it's not afraid to poke fun of itself or the characters for that, making for a hot and entertaining read. Paul is an unrepentant reprobate who is both laidback and reckless with the misuse of his powers, leaving Alex really only one way to deal with his eager step-brother: to do some misusing of his own.
Overall, strongly recommend. 10/10 would (and have) read again!

60 pages of nonstop timestop (step) bro on bro action, as twenty year old Paul uses his inexplicable and utterly undeserved power to halt time in order to torment his unbearably sexy older step brother, Alex. But he will eventually undergo a shocking revelation about Alex, and even perhaps...himself? No, not really. Self-reflection is not his strong suite. This story revels in the unabashedly filthy escapades of the two bros, providing plenty of sex scenes and some dark laughs in a self-aware smutfest.

2.5 stars? - This was a taboo adjacent stepbrothers story, but the taboo part isn’t really the step sibling part, but is rather that they both have superpowers that allow them to . . . non-con each other? It’s really just some goofy erotic scenes (I definitely prefer A Dream of Daisies, more cottage core omegaverse, pls)
