A wonderful short story. I really enjoyed reading it. It did not take very long to finish from beginning to end. Immediately from page one we peek Into Jocelyn's erotic dream. However, she wakes up during the tempting build up towards orgasm that was never completed. I get the impression that she is an attractive woman. She dates and frequently finds men who are intimidated by her intelligence and her job as a biologist. Her status as a virgin can be precarious. When men start to get familiar with her, she freezes and it turns them off. This happened when she went out with a co-worker named Wes. Wes took what happened personally. He felt rejected. So at work he started horrible rumors about Joselyn. It got so bad that her superior did not believe her when she tried to refute the allegations. She quit. After talking to her mother, Marie, Joselyn was told about the need of a biologist for Marie's Mojave dig site team. Jocelyn could not have been more excited. She got there just before they were to open the spaceship they found. Jocelyn looked at the spaceship and realized it looked nothing like what most people think: saucer. It looked more advanced. They open the window from the cockpit. They found an unconscious man. Skin the color of pale blue. When he stirred Marie went up to him and extended her hand. The man was extending his when one of scientists prodded him with an electrical rod. The man became unconscious. When he awoke in was strapped securely to a gurney with wires and tubes all around him. He was in a lab. Patiently he endured three days of their so called scientific research. He was tired, losing strength, not eating he had to find a way out. He had his translator on and he understood everything the scientists were saying. Sometimes Jocelyn would visit him and talk to him. He enjoyed that. They were about to initiate another experiment when Jocelyn had to untie him. When he was free he incapacitated the men around him. He grabbed Jocelyn, broke down their molecular structure and whisked them away to his planet. When Jocelyn awakes she is in a glass observation room with other female races from throughout the universe. She was befriended by Teela. They both had translators and were able to communicate. Teela explained to Jocelyn they were on the planet Avrox. She also explained the Avroxees brutal approach to mating. It is a one and done situation. Then the female is disposed of. Jocelyn did not know how, but she had to escape and get back to earth. All the females were lead to a large arena. At the center were a group of Avrox warriors, their potential mates. Jocelyn looked trying to find... yes, she found her spaceman. Earlier Krult went before the chief about the mating ceremony. He proposed an alternative, one that could save their people, and their connections with the other worlds. The chief shot him down. Krult headed towards the arena. He needed to save Jocelyn. When he got there and selected her, Jocelyn was relieved. Krult was challenged by Pelos for Jocelyn. They fought and Krult won. Pelos slunk away as he was humiliated. He was a brazen warrior. Krult hoped he would have no more run-ins with Pelos. Krult took Jocelyn to his apartment. He put Jocelyn at ease telling her he would never harm her. He explained why he chose her from earth. She was beautiful, yes, she looked fertile, yes. More importantly she was an intelligent biologist. This was a new feeling for Jocelyn. Krult was different that any of the men she had ever dated. Krult explained his goals to Jocelyn. She agreed to help if after they completed their aim that he would return her to earth. Krult agreed. Now the book becomes more and more interesting. Although dangerous, Krult gathered as much scientific supplies as he could for Jocelyn's experiments. After a few days, he took her to the jungle to learn about the fauna and flora of the area. Little did both of them realize that it would rescue them in the future. During the return of an outing Pelos approached them with his followers. Jocelyn was under a cloak to conceal her identity. Pelos was suspicious. They were almost discovered. Pelos issued a warning and a threat. Krult and Jocelyn had to be more careful. As Krult and Jocelyn worked tirelessly together their attraction grew. Jocelyn was curious and asked what it was like for Avroxee men to mate. Krult told her it was perfunctory. He then asked her what it was like on earth. Jocelyn explained the getting to know each other to see if they were compatible in personality. Then the next step would be to see if they were sexually compatible. Then she explained how they would pledge their love for a lifetime. That evening they could no longer fight their attraction and spent the night together. Something magical happened. Through their love an untapped genetic characteristic showed up in Krult. This has never been experienced by any Avroxee. All of Krult’s wounds healed immediately. Krult was not used to having emotions with mating. This was all new to him. Apparently, the earth way of mating would save many women and the Avroxee race. They were both excited at the discovery. Now to only be able to present it to the chief. The next morning Jocelyn woke completely energized, relaxed and feeling the best she has been. While Krult slept, she snuck out to the market to buy something for breakfast and was caught by Pelos and dragged in chains to be presented to the chief to be executed. When Krult woke up, he did not see Jocelyn and became worried. Then he thought maybe she went into the jungle for more samples. He went looking for her and did not find her in the jungle, the market place or his apartment. There was a great commotion among the men. He asked someone what was going on. They told him a human was caught for treason and was headed to the chief to be killed. Krult could not believe it. He rushed towards the chief's home. There he found Jocelyn preparing to meet her doom. Will Krult be able to rescue her in time? Will Krult exact revenge upon Pelos for whatever happened to Jocelyn? If she survived would they stay together or would she still want to go back to earth. Would they ever get the chance to share with the chief their discovery that could change the way Avroxees lived? This is an excellent short story. I loved the ending. It was unexpected. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have tried to get into novels by Amelia Wilson, but I cannot. For me this story did not have enough dialogue and the chemistry between the heroine and hero was boring. I know the fight between the hero and the villain were due to breeding issues, but I felt the hero should have invested in someone else. The center ring fight was the most exciting thing in the entire story for me. This story did not keep my interest and I am not interested in reading the rest of the series. The writing style was good, but not for me as a reader. I wanted there to be more action and tempting moments and less checking on science experiments.
With so much to learn, this woman seems more interested in the alien that has captured her than actually worried about being taken! I love a strong female lead. Great performance.
Jocelyn Lee dreamed of an endless desert stretching out before her. She felt wild and free. Then she heard a stranger call her and saw a man walking toward her. He wraps his arms around her and they rise into the sky. He floats away, stating that he has chosen her and will be looking for her, and the dream ends.
Jocelyn quit her job as assistant biologist at Henley’s Labs and was on her way to meet her mother on a top-secret dig in the Mojave Desert where she would begin her new job. When she arrived, the scientists were just getting ready to crack open their find – a huge spaceship emitting a low hum! When they took off the hood of the cockpit, a blue man was hunched over the controls; as they approached, his eyes opened! One of the observers promptly stunned him with a stun gun!
Krult had been here on a mate mission when his ship malfunctioned and crashed. The scientists took him to a lab and performed tests on him as he got weaker from lack of food day after day. Finally he knew he had to escape. When they took the restraints off to photograph him, he fought them and grabbed Jocelyn, using his last energy to teleport them away. She found herself in a glass room surrounded by an assortment of alien women. They were led into an arena where the men would choose a mate. Krult chose Jocelyn, but a brutish warrior, Pelos, challenged him to fight for her. Krult won and took Jocelyn with him. But he had a plan to save his people!
The two of them did some experiments in creating a creature that they hoped to show to the chief. But Pelos sneaked in when they were not home and killed it. He then threatened to tell the chief about Jocelyn and she would be executed. He fought with Krult until Jocelyn made the sound of a beast that killed the Avroxee people and Pelos ran away. As she stitched Krult’s wound back home, she told him of her dream; but he did not respond with a laugh as she expected. Instead, he admitted that he was the man in her dream! He was looking for her when he crashed his ship! Their feelings for each other stronger than ever, they decided to be mates. Holding each other, Krult’s body began to hum and a glow appeared around him! This had never happened before. All the wounds on his body from the knife fight with Pelos healed themselves! What did this mean?
When he woke the next morning, Jocelyn was gone, perhaps out looking for more samples? But a crowd outside told him an Earth girl was captured by Pelos at the market and was being taken to the chief for execution. But he gave her two choices: she could mate with him instead, or she could face death from a deadly creature called the Wanchan. Which would she choose? Why wasn’t Krult there yet to rescue her? What had happened to him? And would she survive the beast?
This was a good story with an original story line that gave the reader a different approach to the mating issue – not better, but not one that was expected! There was a mild tension in the story line as the reader hoped Krult and Jocelyn would find a solution to their population shortage that wouldn’t involve the death of the female. But before they could tell the chief about what had happened with them, Jocelyn was captured. Grab your copy and find out what happens now!
An alien romance that looks at the Avroxee alien race and their tradition of stealing women from other planets to become their mates. This practice is necessary for them because nearly their entire race is male. The story starts on Earth with Jocelyn who joins her mother at an archaeological dig where they uncover an alien spaceship with a still living alien inside. This alien, Krult, came in search of Jocelyn for her talents and bides his time until he can escape and take Jocelyn back to his planet with him. When Jocelyn wakes up in a cage with other women, its a shock. And when taken to be selected as a mate, her only hope is Krult. But Krult has a secret and a deep desire to better his race and together with Jocelyn they make discoveries and change the longstanding traditions of this alien race.
This is the first book in the Aliens of Avrox series. Wow! This is one steamy read - and it starts in the very first chapter. The characters are engaging and likeable and the alien world the author has created is interesting and intriguing. I like that Jocelyn is a scientist - well educated and very intelligent and I really liked that Krult recognized that and originally chooses her for her intelligence - which was a bit of a different twist from most alien abduction romances. The storyline is different and original, but very solid and the interplay between Jocelyn and Krult is entertaining. I loved watching them as they gradually discover their feelings for each other. This is a fast read, but very enjoyable and a great start to the series.
The Avrox🐺🔫🔪🍆🌋, a male only Warrior Race, are nearly perfect alien beings. They are tall, beautiful, muscular, and flawlessly built, except inside, most of them are mean and rotten, cruel. Into the 🌎Earth comes a crashing space ship, with Krult🐺🔪🔫, a Avroxee pilot alone, on board. He is examined by scientists, but when He gets his chance, he teleports himself and scientist Jocelyn to Avrox. The Avrox🐺🔪🔫 treat humans and other species as inferior beings, as objects to own, as slaves. Jocelyn💃💋 wakes up in a prison like setting, a clinic on Avrox. All of the females are used to carry Avrox babies.
Prisoner of Avrox: Alien Romance (The Avroxee Mates Series) By Amelia Wilson. 4 Stars
Crazy yet Exciting Read...
Wow talk about making an kidnapping by a alien interesting, lol. If It isn't the strangest way to find a mate than I don't know what is. And what those two grow later in the book is so plain unheard of I was amazed.
Jocelyn and Kurlt are characters that are as different as night and day. Both have energizing personalities and so much more... You'll read about some fascinating alien rituals, myths and of that will keep you entertained the whole way through...
Short, light read. For over 18. Not a book, that I want a teen to read. The plot's location transition from earth to an alien home seems a little choppy. The premise is a little weird. As they say, some things don't compute.
However, I'd read more by the same author.
The sexual vibes are unmistakable between the male alien and the female doctor. A warrior alien and a nerdy doctor who is taken to the alien's home planet. What can go wrong? Will they find a happily, ever after? Read to find out!
Jocelyn and Krult both felt like outcasts in their societies, but felt like they found home with each other. Their association started off a little rocky but Krult had the best of intentions when he kidnapped Jocelyn. It was nice that Krult and Jocelyn were able to convince the chief of the Avroxee to see reason in the end. Pelos certainly got what he deserved after everything he did to Jocelyn and Krult.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
An intriguing start to the new series. Great storyline with strong, independent characters who decide to work together to find a way to lead the Avroxee towards Peace in the Universe. I enjoyed the interaction between Krult and Jocelyn. The book kept my interest from start to finish and I would recommend this one to all Sci-fi Romance lovers. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Prisoner of Avrox is book one in the new intriguing series The Avroxee Mates by author Amelia Wilson. This is an incredibly entertaining tale of find the one who’s perfect for you. Anywho, read and enjoy the journey. Enjoy!!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book was good but a little scattered. So me stuff (like the dream) could have been used to make the story more detailed. It felt rushed in some parts. Over all I enjoyed it. She is a scientist in Earth and he is looking for females to mate on his planet. Can they find a new way to save his people without taking females, or will they fall in love before they do? I listened to this on Audible.
This is an entertaining book, I really like the plot and how different it is from the others, but one thing I didn't understand was the "experimenting" that Jocelyn was doing, it's a book that you read in one sitting.
SPANISH: Este es un libro entretenido, me gusta mucho la trama y lo diferente que es a los demás, pero algo que no entendí fue lo del "experimentó" que estaba haciendo Jocelyn, es un libro que se lee de una sentada.
I wasn't too thrilled with this book. Not that anything was really wrong it just didn't flow and wasn't very cohesive. I was waiting for something to happen it never really did. It just seemed like a bunch of sentences thrown together with no rhyme or reason. I was very dissatisfied.
I love how Jocelyn is a scientist. She uses her science to help Krult's people. Krult wants to change the way his people choose their mates from other worlds. They slowly become attracted to each other. There is danger and action. This is good if you want a quick Sci-Fi romance read.
The book was well written and keeps your attention throughout the story. It has adventure, drama, passion, and steamy hot romance with awesome characters? Once you start reading; you just want more so please keep them coming and so ready to read the next book in the series.
Good characters though no real depth. World building was okay, but then again it is a short story. The Hero and Heroine were a good fit even if opposite in some and same in others. They managed to change the Avvox people for the better. And of course the happy couple had the first girl ever.
Jocelyn is a biologist on Earth and Krult is an alien. Jocelyn gets taken to his planet where once a woman has been mated and given birth (to males only as no females are born), she is then disposed of. What will happen to them on Krult's planet? Will they both be executed? I enjoyed this story, the first in a new series by this author.
Entertaining and totally unexpected situations that held my attention. Ms. Wilson paints an exotic world full of creatures and dialogue that draw you in and compel you to turn page after page wanting to discover what happens next! Looking forward to more of this series.
I was wondering why it took her so long to get pregnant. Kruilt was a very lucky alien to have landed on earth instead of Pelos. I'm glad they got rid of him. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Did not finish. Only made it about 30% in before giving up. It is not a very long read either. Very fast-paced. But it seems to skip over a lot to focus on the "important" stuff. Just was not for me at all.
They were brilliant. I didn't like her being abducted but in a way what goes around comes around. She helped them find a different way of revolutionizing their people. Overall this was a good start to this series and the hero was smart and brave.
