I found this book very empowering as I truly believe using the methods in it will help me to make the right decisions about my labor and birth and it has already helped me feel like my body is not only capable of this but made to do this. I plan to continue to refer to this book and to work on fear clearing as I finish out these last few weeks of pregnancy. I am now actually looking forward to going into labor with confidence and much less “head trash”.”

I don't usually like leaving negative reviews but I felt compelled to say something about this book.

Firstly, let's start with the good:
- The author's writing style is casual and easy to read. She comes across as a lovely person who is only trying to help others.
- Her Fearless Birthing podcast is quite fun to listen to and I found it useful to listen to during my pregnancy
- The formatting of the book itself is pleasing to read. Whoever designed it did a good job.

The not so good:
- It is more of an autobiography with some helpful hints thrown in. There were SO many anecdotal stories about Alexia's own life, which were fine to read but it seemed like the focus of the book was mainly about her journey instead of the person reading the book.
- The first 1/4 of the book is just an extended blurb about why this book is useful and provides no real content.
- The actual "useful" content in this book consists of about 70 pages which is all at the end of the book (out of the 365 listed pages). It's only when she begins explaining her TAT method (with instructions) that I felt like I got anywhere. But even then, some things weren't explained properly and she didn't give proper examples / counter examples to show what she meant by her instructions.
- She provides a few simple instructions in other parts of the book such as "write a list" but then doesn't tell you what to do with the list. It felt very confusing & unnecessary.
- Almost ALL of the links in this 2017 edition do not work! Alexia's team should have implemented some sort of URL re-direction if she was going to changing them.
- When I searched for the book resources online (since the provided URL didn't work), it doesn't even show up anywhere, so it looks like access to this has been removed.
- Out of the 365 counted pages, 47 were completely BLANK. And 15 pages only contained chapter titles. So that is 62 filler pages with zero content. Keep in mind this is more like a 300 page book.
- There was a huge negative bias against the medical profession, saying how they try to make you take drugs or be induced just to make more money / cover themselves from being sued if anything goes wrong. I am sure there are institutions like that, but I didn't like the distrust being created for people in the medical field. They are experts for a reason, and surely there are professionals out there who are trained to get the best outcome for mother and baby. Maybe the UK is different to other countries. I'm glad she said to do your own research at least.

Anyway, I found that I got more use out of listening to her podcast rather than reading this book. I feel very conflicted & confused after reading it. This was my least favourite pregnancy book for sure.

I received this as a baby shower gift. Unfortunately, it didn't really tell me what I wanted to know. I did learn that my due is most likely a week later than the doctors are telling me, which doesn't really help me at this point. Also, it actually instilled some new fears in me instead of taking them away. I feel that I have learned more about trying to not focus on fear and pain during birth from my pregnancy circle than from this book. This book really could have just been the last 1/4 of it.

I’ll admit. I was attracted to the cover on Amazon. (Was this a promoted post?) I did appreciate the first half of the book, which was more about educating yourself. I especially liked the chapter on calculating due dates. The author lost me in the second half of the book. In part, because I feel pretty “fear-less” about my third delivery, having already experienced both a C-section and a VBAC.

Some of the advice is certainly worthwhile. You can always skip ahead if sections aren't working for you.
