The dust has settled after the last book where the Ibarra Nation rescued the crew of one of their starship carriers from a Union prison. As you remember, those crew members were all proccies which is short for processed humans. According to the Hale Treaty and specifically under the Omega Provision, all proccies found alive after the signing of the treaty were to be executed. President Garret ordered this to be carried out which the Armor Corps Templars refused to do. He, therefore, ordered the Templars to be imprisoned along with the Ibarran crew. Our main character, Roland Shaw, who thought he was back with the Union Armor Corps, was also arrested and thrown in prison. He was accused of treason and was to be executed along with the proccies

It didn’t take long for the Ibarrans to locate their missing crewmen and set about rescuing them. When they found out that the Union Armor Templars were also in the same prison, they offered them their freedom if they swore an allegiance to the Ibarran Nation. The Templars agreed as long as the Ibarran Nation stayed true to their cause of fighting for all humanity regardless of whether they were natural born or created. So now the Ibarran Nation has a much larger military and the Earth Union forces are smaller and heading into dangerous territory by bending to the will of the other aliens who are attempting to weaken the humans any way they can.

Stacy Ibarra now leads the Ibarran Nation. She has come into contact with some ancient Qa’resh technology that has turned her body into a mechanical android of sorts. The same for her Father. In this form, they can stay alive forever if necessary. Still, she doesn’t fully understand this Qa’resh technology and needs to find the one person that knows most about it. That one person is the only living Aeon. This last Aeon must be brought into the Ibarran fold so they can better utilize ancient Qa’resh tech and help humanity defeat the Kesaht and defend against what they believe will be future attacks by various alien races bent on the destruction of all humanity.

So, Roland Shaw, and the Templars are sent to find and retrieve this last Aeon. Marc Ibarra believes he can talk this last Aeon into coming back with him. He seems to know who she is and has something that she wants, or so he says. The supposed rescue of this last living Aeon doesn’t go as easy as it would sound. The Kesaht and their masters also know of this person and want to capture her to do their bidding or to kill her if she doesn’t cooperate.

I like the authors writing. The main character is involved in a lot of fighting, but it’s explained well and is easy to follow. The story doesn’t end here and the next book in the series, “Ferrum Corde”, should have been out this past summer, but I can’t find it on Amazon yet.

Robert's Review

I have always liked the concept of Mech warfare in armored suits. In this series you have the ultimate armor system with the pilot in a womb of amniotic fluid. The interface to control the Armor is tied to the brainstem and mimics the natural body, not a Waldo type arrangement or exoskeleton rig, like the Ironman suit. It allows for a great range of environmental uses. From vacuum to underwater environments and great tolerances for pressure, heat, radiation and g-forces. I enjoy powered armor of all types and the different varieties you find in these stories. The Terran Armored Corps with traditions rooted in the tanker forces of the 20th and 21st centuries in my opinion are the pinnacle of the human armored variants. Short of a full AI Mech, this could the future of human-machine warfare engines. Thanks for the GoodRead, I look forward the next book.

Full of Craziness and Goodness.

This story is so full of everything I do not know where to start. Mr Fox has out did himself this time. He has filled this book with intrigue, action, humor, passion did I say action? He pulls at the feels with the way the story goes as well as introduces a new character that you instantly start routing for after a couple of pages about. Did I say action? Marc Ibarra steals the show. Who would of thought his character could be so funny. Aignars character besomes even more endearing even though Gideon becomes somewhat of a tool.
PHENOMINAL job by Mr FOX.

Can't wait to read the next book in the series

Some authors you just like. Richard Fox is one such author for me. The story is still a continuation of the Ember War series and mainly revolves around the armors and Roland. But the nation is so gripping that it's hard to put it down. Like I said I am waiting for the next book in the series.
P.S. if you haven't read Ember wars, go read that first.

Another good read

Continues the story with more character development. With casual harassment between military members. Genius bad guys with long laid plans, banter between buddies, and even a romance for those that like that. If someone clues in Roland.

Enjoyable book, it almost read itself.

Interesting story, fluidly follows all the plot threads. Keeping up with both insane leaders; Stacy Ibarra and President Garret, Keeper, Gideon, Roland is masterfully done. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

I love this series, even with all the politics in it. The entire series has had several twists that I didn't see coming (and I like that).

The Armor are the best of us. The politicians are the worst of us. Simplistic, but I like it.

No spoilers here, but the gulf between the two sides of humanity continues to broaden. I hope that this doesn't end up where it seems to be going. I'll have to keep reading to find out!

Expands the universe!

The story of the last Aeon is dad but she did save the human race from her mistakes so you never know. Probably not as much action in this one.

Little slowed down but overall still good. The lore exposition easily makes up for the generally slower pace.
