I've never been a cover-whore!! But this cover screamed "READ ME NOW". Obviously, I had to comply.

I'm not a MM connoisseur, in fact, this is only my 3rd MM read. However, it worked for me on every level. The raw emotional aspect of the story and the ongoing action and drama added to my overall enjoyment. The star of this story is the emotional connection between the main characters. Greg is an amazing character! Total yum!

 photo BetweenTheSecrets5.jpg

This new author excels at binding the reader to the characters. The writing isn’t the most eloquent I’ve read, but that didn’t impact my enjoyment at all. I wanted to know these characters. I gave up sleep to finish their story. And I love my sleep!!

Here’s what I absolutely loved: Well, I’ve already mentioned Greg. I felt for him. He’s hiding in plain sight. He not only hides his sexuality, but also his feelings for his best friend. The pain of those secrets starts to eat away at him and I empathized with his pain.

Jake had a tough life growing up. Because of that, he acts out in ways that I may not understand, but are definitely believable. I felt for him and admired him at the same time!

It was truly great to see how Jake and those around him dealt with the various situations thrown at them over the course of the book. There’s a lot going on!

I also enjoyed seeing Bree and Declan get their happily ever after. I loved their story and it was great to see their progression.

Overall, this sexy little book was a hit with me. Things got a little dicey at the end with the new storyline, but I’m definitely interested to see how that story plays out.

I rate it 4 Solid Stars

"Sometimes you’re beyond saving. Hell really is on Earth and there is nothing you can do but hope for mercy. Sometimes you have to create an entirely new hell just to escape the one you’re in."

When Jake was three-year-old, his father started abusing him sexually. The most memories of his childhood is pain, so much pain. Now that he is an adult, he is using alcohol and girls to escape his pain. His best friend is Greg. They are friends for six years. They are roommate and they work with each other for Ron who is a mobster. Greg is gay and in these years he has had feelings for Jake. But Jake is a broken man. So Greg thinks he can’t tell him about his feelings because of Jake’s situation. But he can’t bear Jake’s childish behavior anymore, so he takes situation in his hands.

"I want to be in his fucking head as much as he’s in mine. He fucking awns me. I want to wake up with him in my arms and not just curled up on the other side of the bed after a night full of terror. I want us to exchange those looks only lovers exchange. I want him."

This book was my second read by S. Ferguson and unlike the previous book, I liked this one. We met all this characters in Something There In Between. Something There In Between was about Jake’s brother and Ron’s daughter. This story is beautifully and well-written. The first half was more about Jak’s and Greg feelings and the second half was more about their work. The story is fast-paced, told in dual 1st person POV and it can be read as a standalone story. I just expect it go deeper in their relationship and be more twisted. I wanted to read more about them. But all in all. I enjoyed it and I think I’ll try her next book, Grace Between Mercy.

It's wrong on so many levels, but I take this, being close to jake, in any way I can.

Freaking finally! After reading Something There in Between (Book 1), I've been itching to read this book for few months then. And OMG! This book's blowing up my mind. BETWEEN THE SECRETS had gone from much anticipated to a highly recommended read. M/M Romance held a very special part in my heart. But then Greg and Jake are so much more. As a matter of fact, they are already a permanent resident on my heart's left chamber. ;)

I'll be honest though, I really hate Greg on STIB. I thought he's a bad influence to Jake, that he's full of shit. :D And now, he's laughing at me because I am madly in love with him. As the members of a crime mob, Jake and Greg were practically a married couple with their life style. They work together and live together.

Two things about reading this book- unpredictable and brilliant! Can a person ever runs out of adjectives and adverbs to describe how wonderful this story is? The 'WHO' is me apparently. Even though S. Ferguson is a little Cruelti de Vil in creating this book, I am beyond grateful for such amazing masterpiece.

I need him to feel me, my love, my everything. I'm all his, only if he'll accept it.

description

For those who didn't know it yet, unexpected and unpredictable's what S. Ferguson is. One second I'm so engrossed with the scene and the next second, I'm mumbling, "What is happening, people?! Why am I being punished?!". You got the feel, right? :D

"I need to feel you. I need to fell something that isn't pain and grief."

This was a last minute read for me. Circumstances/life happened and the reviewer for the blog did not think she would be able to read and review on time so I took it on myself. I'm telling you all of this so you understand the point I'm about to make about the book....I know it states this book is a stand-alone, but the story is not. Not only do characters cross over from the first book in the series, Something There in Between, but so does the story itself. Since I added the book last minute, I didn't have time to go back and read the first. In my humble opinion, I think every reader should take the time. There were times I was a little confused and a lot lost and that took me out of the story ... lesson learned. No last minute blog reads :)

OKAY, let's chat about the book itself. In my opinion, for a new author, S. Ferguson did a pretty good job with this gay romance story. She's not only new to the writing world, but also the genre. So I have to give her props for sure for stepping out there. The story holds its own with the sexual aspect you come to expect in gay romances and she made it less angsty/edgy than this trope normally is. So again, #win

There is a lot going on in this story. Maybe a little too much. It's very difficult to make sure a story-line unfolds correctly and backstories make sense when there is so much subject matter going on. Greg and Jake and their newfound relationship status was enough, or should have been enough, to carry this story. However, there's a mystery and suspense thrown along with a sprinkle of Mafia elements that just all put together made the book too much. Too much story.

Overall, as I mention before, MAD PROPS for this new author and her skill, which I see only getting better as she continues to write :)

I'll start with not liking organized crime books, but this one peaked my interest because I am a huge sucker for M/M romance. HUGE! Well, now I not only have to go back and read the first book to learn about Bree and Dec, but I have to wait to read the third, and boy do I want to. The characters were real, broken, vulnerable, and totally badass. I was hooked from page one and devoured the book in a day, not wanting to put it down.
Greg does his job, kicks asses, takes names and is good at all of it. He's also gay. And in love with his best friend.
Jake is young, cocky, and a loose cannon where work is concerned. He had a crappy childhood (think of the worst possible scenario and shoot it up with some steroids) and uses booze to self medicate. Until one night, Jake is drunk and everything changes.
Angst: check
Steam: hell yes
and broken characters: check again.

Greg and Jake...sigh. I met these two guys in the first book of the series and was so excited to get to read their story this time...it was hot and steamy while being emotionally deep and satisfying.
When your job depends on you being all tough and cocky with a very "macho" exterior, it is definitely hard to be gay or show any interest in another man while you are tasked with jobs in a mob war. The fear of being exposed, losing respect and trust from your peers or being ridiculed by your enemies, makes things a bit rough but it's what these two carry deep inside their own hearts and pasts that burdens them, and until they get past them all, their love is in for a rocky road.
I really enjoyed this one a lot since I really don't read a lot of MM books usually, unless of course I have enjoyed the author's other works and trust they will write with the same kind of excellence that they do their MF romances. BTS did not disappoint at all.

Another beautifully written love story that moved me to tears. This is the second book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone, I loved that I could get right inside this story and cozy up with the characters I was introduced to in Something There in Between. Jake and Greg are both strong, rough, alpha men. They work together, live together and Greg is finding it harder and harder to see Jake fighting with his inner demons. He longs to just hold him, show him that he is loved. Their characters were written with so much depth and emotion I was sucked in to the story and it was hard for me to stop reading. There are very serious tones and extreme issues touched upon in the book but Sarah wrote in such a way that it wasn't unbearable to read about. Real Love knows no boundaries. It doesn't care what shape, size or color another is.
I was given a chance to read this before release for an honest review.

Between the Secrets is the second book written by S. Ferguson and it's her first M/M. I love the genre so I was excited that she was taking it on so quickly into her writing career. If you read Something There in Between then you have already met Jake and Greg. Jake is Declan's brother and Greg is Jake's best friend/roommate/co-muscle in Ron's organization.

Jake's past is full of nightmares, shame, and guilt. He hides his true self behind booze, random hook-ups with women, and taking out his anger with his fists. It's part of the job and he is one of the best. He helps Ron keep the shit off the streets. For the last six years he has had one person on his side. Always there to drive him home after drinking too hard. Always there by his side kicking ass and taking names. But what he doesn't realize until an eventful night in the kitchen is that Greg might be more than just a best friend. If only he could let him in.

Greg has never shown his true feelings towards Jake. He doesn't even know if Jake realizes that he is gay. He is far in the closet but he also does does the whole "hook-up" thing. Then one night changes everything. He doesn't know if it will ruin the friendship that they have or make it a hell of a lot more interesting. But what he does know is that he wants to be there for Jake while he works through his shit from his past. He doesn't know much about it but he hears Jake's moans and feels his pain while he is having a nightmare. Will Jake let his past ruin what they could have in the future before it even starts?

I thought this was a great story! It wasn't just about sexy times and figuring out what is going on between them but about past demons and present dangers. There is so suspense tied into the story and that hooked me in even more. And the characters are very likable. They are a serious group but they do have a humorous side as well. And I can't forget about the hot side either. Yum!!

Overall...it's a great story. It does deal with some very serious and hard issues. I am giving it four stars because even though I felt their connection I think it could have gone deeper. I want more of them.

Quotes:

It’s pure torture to be so close to the person you want most in life but can never have.

So i'm a huge fan of M/M reads and S. Ferguson is a New To Me Author. I can honestly say that i would have never have guessed that this is only the authors second book. It's so well written, intriguing, gritty and captivated my attention. Her first book Something There in Between is connected to Between The Secrets but both books can be read as standalone's they don't follow on. Just characters names mentioned like i said, i read this book first and had no problems with not having read the first. But believe me i most definitely will be rectifying that situation!!

Greg and Jake work together live together they are both strong Alpha Male characters. This i loved for an M/M read you usually find one more dominant than the other. They were both complex characters having their own problems and their own ways of dealing with them. They both work as the enforcers to Ron's "Organisation" keep the street's safe.

For Greg was his feeling's towards Jake he's never shown or told anyone about his feeling's or even that he's gay except for his boss. It's not that he purposely hides it but he also doesn't advertise it either Especially in the job that he does.

photo quot_zpsfdcurhom.png God knows I’m so far in the closet I should have found Narnia by now."

He's also struggling watching his best friend and the man he loves fight his demon's in such a destructive way. He wants to be there for Jake but not just as a friend, he wants to hold, comfort, support him in every way and show him that he his loved.

photo quot_zpsfdcurhom.png Don’t you ever fucking hide your eyes and feel shame for what that fucker did to you.”

Jake is fighting the nightmares of his past, his childhood was cruel and abusive. He's hiding and drowning himself in alcohol and women. The one saving grace he has is his best friend Greg he's the one person he knows has his back no matter what. But after one drunken night that ended with a kiss could Greg be more. He's trying to let him in but his past is holding him back!!

photo quot_zpsfdcurhom.png I wish i could have stopped myself from falling for Jake, but it's impossible. How do you stop yourself from breathing when you need air? It was inevitable."

This story gave me so much emotion and depth more than i was expecting to be honest. It isn't just a romance story with dark undertones within this read we get a intense mystery that leads us into the next standalone book. Between Killers Which i'm really looking forward to!!

Oh bring on the men.....

BETWEEN THE SECRETS is the second book by Sarah Feguson that I have read. Once again I thoroughly enjoyed every page and word she has written. This one is completely different from her first novel, SOMETHING THERE IN BETWEEN, as her two main characters are male. Sarah has written her first M/M novel and she has done it with class and style. Even though this does have characters from her novel in this one, you dont have to have read it, although it will give you a little bit of background to Greg and Jake.

Jake James and Greg Bissen have known each other for six years. They are best friends, roommates and work as partners for their boss Ron, who just happens to be a mobster. Jake and Greg are enforcers. Jake is a broken man, due to events of his past, how he overcomes his demons is heartbreaking. There is something more between these two men, but are they able to admit to each other their deepest needs and desires? Jake is constantly fighting his inner demons, the past that makes him live with constant guilt and shame. Greg wants to change this, he wants to show Jake that he is loved, but is he able to put his fears aside and do the one things he has been desiring/yearning to do?

Sarah has written a beautiful story of self-discovery. She shows how two people can move from friendship to love and gain everything that they have desired. This is most definitely a love story, it will reach out to you and pull on the strings of your heart numerous times. I felt the pain and joy both men experienced, this being a testament to Sarah's writing. I readily admit I cried at Jakes suffering and I also got angru at his attitude sometimes.

A beautiful story, alive with love, hope, happiness, sorrow and some really sizzling hot scenes. I can't wait to see what Sarah come up with next.

Between the Secrets is S. Ferguson's second release and first venture into M/M territory. It reads as a standalone, but from experience I advise reading book one Something There In Between. The characters interconnect and the story goes on from book one and as someone who hasn't read it, I felt a little lost.

Between the Secrets follows the lives of Jake and Greg. They're best friends and coworkers for the local mob boss. They're basically his muscle, taking care of orders and people when the time arises.

Greg has always had feelings for Jake. He's kept them bottled up for years until finally his resolve breaks and shows him that their attraction is undeniable.

Jake is your typical straight guy. He screws any woman that moves and doesn't look back as well as drinks way more than he should. He's got horrible memories from a traumatic childhood. He knows he's got some feelings for Greg, but with never having a relationship with another man, he doesn't know how to proceed.

I enjoyed Between the Secrets. It's not your typical M/M gfy (gay for you) book with its dark undertones. I guess I wasn't expecting darkness, if I'm being honest. I didn't read S. Ferguson's first book because of the subject matter, and didn't really take into account what might be talked about in this book. Jake and Greg's friendship was easy, the secondary characters were great too. I guess I just didn't personally connect with the characters as I have no experience with their line of work and I felt kind of pushed into their story. There wasn't enough character development for me.

I'm sure I'm the odd man out, with my opinion of Between the Secrets. With that being said S. Ferguson's writing was fantastic considering she's still a newbie and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

5 Secrets Stars!!

ARC Generously Provided by the Author

This is the second book in this series. I highly recommend you to read "Something in Between" so you can understand better the whole story, but at the same time you can read it as standalone. This a M/M book and I have to say this is the first time that the author writes this type of story this is AMAZING!!!! This is the story of Jake and Greg, we know these 2 characters in the previous book, and we can have a little idea about this book! but OMG Sarah made this story amazing!!

We know Greg who is the bestfriend of Jake and he is totally in love with Jake, but Jake has a lot of traumas for his childhood so he lives in the closet and he sleeps with every woman she can, and this is something that hurts Greg so much.

Greg with the help of one of his friends start to make Jake to speak about his traumas so he can get help and he start to understand that he has always been in love with Greg but for his past he didn't want to feel that! After Jake get over his past he and Greg start a relationship but somethinh happen that makes them sad but at the same time they support each other!! and the end this amazing couple are living her happy ending.

This story has romance, drama, suspense and a lot of violance!!! I really enjoy reading this book!! And seriously after that epilogue OMG Can't wait to read the next one!!!!

Congrats Sarah for this amazing book!!

Loved, Loved, Loved, LOVED Jake and Greg's story. I was graciously afforded the opportunity to read this prior to release for my honest review.

Love comes in all different shapes and sizes and doesn't necessarily look the same to any two people. The author did a fantastic job showing that. She weaves an unbelievably beautiful tale with twists and turns and crazy things happening.

Her characters have such depth and mystery to them, and she carries them through her series so well. I imagine that this could be read as a stand alone, although it definitely is a much richer experience having read her first book. That being said, this story grabs hold of your heart with a tight grip and pulls you so deep into their world and all that it entails.

I wanted the story to never end. I felt the same way with her first book. Once again, I find myself reading the last words and immediately counting the days to her next release!

Thank you Ms. Ferguson for more fantastic words!

This is the kind of book that gets you tingling in anticipation. All the macho, hard enforcer type men, that are in an environment that isn't really conducive to being openly gay. But, oh boy is it HOT!
I love being teased with the barely there touches and the almost letting your guard down because you are NOT gay.... are you? I just LOVE that! All the action you get with this genre of the story, kind of Mobster, is here in abundance. Fantastic!

Greg and Jake have been best friends and partners for their mobster boss, Ron, for years now. It seems most of the characters are somewhat ' damaged ' and are very loyal to their boss and each other. I did feel I should have known more about Declan, Bree and Ron as the story alluded to their past and, when I checked it out; it seems this is the second book in the series. I will be reading this and any other future books from S. Furguson.
A very well written story and a total hot page turner as well!

I received an Arc for a honest review.
Between the secrets is the second book I read so the characters were familiar to me.
I don't know where to begin to be honest.

Greg and Jake are working and living together. They're both rough guys.
Jake his past is still haunting him. This is my first MM read and I was pleasantly surprised. It was just like another love story.
The setting was rough, thrilling and I was sucked in from the first page to the last.

S. Ferguson is one of the few authors who make me lost in a story. If I ever get a paperback in my hands her book will be right next to my Stephen King books, because that's where she belongs.

Between the Secrets by Sarah Ferguson is the second book in this series.
For a better understanding you should read " Something in Between " book one first.
Something in Between was Declan and Bree´s story.
Between the Secrets is about Greg and Jake.
Greg. loves. Jake. But Jake is deep in the closet. He hoks up with numerous women and Greg is devastated.
Both are co-workers.
There is violence, like a lot violence, hate , murder, love and great feelings.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I give 4,5 Stars.

I have only read a couple of M/M books before and they were good but this one had me going. I read it super fast because I just couldn't put it down! It was exciting and emotional and even tender at times. It was also HOT! This book made me wish to be in the middle of a Jake/Greg sandwich!! Boy would that be fun!!!! I want more more more!!!! Absolutely loved this book.
It was so heartbreaking but beautiful, sad and hopeful. Sexy as fuck and hot, and it made my heart warm in the end.

Full review to come
Love Greg and Jake. ..

this book had its plot about the mystery killings and the badass crew, of course also about Jakes fucked up past with his bastard father. it had me glued to the pages waiting to find out what happened next. Jakes past is horrible and it fucked up Jake so badly he found it hard to let people in and he coped by drinking himself stupid.
Greg his best friend his right hand felt feelings for Jake strong feelings, feelings that were more than jsut friends. he couldnt help how he felt but he didnt think it would ever turn into something more.
And unfortunatley for Greg he was content to be there for Jake and hold him when he needed all while hurting inside knowing it would never lead anywhere.
Ryan was Gregs good friend and he was helping Jake process and deal with his guilt and feelings about his father and mother.

Greg and Jake help each other out, help dealing with there situations and problems.

this is definetey a great read and i loved every second of it.
OH and i did i mention how fucking HOT it was!? A very sexy and hot read when it came to Jake and Greg!!

I'm so amazed that this is her second book. I was sent the first and second book when I signed up to do the blog tour for the third book. I read these back to back and couldn't believe I was reading her first and second book she put out.

This one tore me up. It's overwhelming and intense. These two struggle with there lives and whether they can be their true self in that setting. It's a journey and tough one. I loved it.

You know that feeling when you have really high expectations for a book and you worry if they are going to be met? That's how I felt about Between The Secrets, after reading about Jake and Greg's friendship in Something In Between I couldn't wait to read their story. There was just this pull these two characters had with each other and I wanted to see how especially Jake dealt with things. I have to say though I wasn't disappointed in this book in the slightest! It definitely lived up to my expectations!

Jake is Declan's brother and we see quite a bit of him in the previous book so I felt kind of invested in both these characters well before I got their story! He has been to hell and back and turns to drink and women to forget about it! Needless to say he covers it all with his happy go lucky personality!

Greg is a little different, he wasn't my favourite person in Something In Between but while reading his own story I fell completely in love with his character! Previously I thought he was a dick but I think its just the fact that Declan and he rub each other the wrong way and thats why I had that preconceived notion of him. In this story Greg wore his emotions on his sleeve and my heart ached for him at times.

This story is all about self discovery, acceptance and battling past and present demons. Jake has to overcome the guilt and shame he feels that stems from his childhood and Greg does everything in his power to help the man he loves!

M/M isn’t my typical genre nor is organised crime books, I have read a few but it isn’t something I would automatically reach for. I just had to read this one though, Jake and Greg’s story had me on edge the whole way through and I couldn’t wait to see how their relationship developed.

This story completely broke my heart at times, I have to admit I shed a few tears more than once while reading this book. The chemistry between these two characters was explosive and my kindle definitely steamed up a time or two but that wasn’t the only aspect of this story. It delved into the trauma Jake suffered as a child and the stigma of being gay in a very heterosexual world. S. Ferguson is quite a new author but her writing is very well done, the stories well thought out and the characters well developed. I have loved both of her books and can’t wait to see what she has for us next.

I'm fairly new to M/M romance but read a few authors I thought were good but the way Sarah developed Greg and Jake's characters with so much depth and emotion I was totally hooked. Not to mention all the twists and turns that could have easily impacted their relationship along the way. Love comes in all shapes and sizes and this book does an amazing job proving how powerful love can be.

You should definitely read Somewhere in Between prior to Between the Secrets.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and while organized crime is not usually my thing, M/M definitely is so I decided to give this one a go. I was interested to see how things would play out, since this kind of setting-like any other hyper-masculine setting-makes an M/M relationship pretty dicey. This is the author’s second book, and while technically it stands alone, there are characters from the first book and some of their backstory that I would have preferred to have up front. It was mostly revealed as this book went on, but at times I did feel a bit adrift until I got that information.

I really, really liked Greg. Yes, he might go around busting up kneecaps and do other unsavory things as an enforcer for a crime boss, but underneath it all he really is a good guy (you know, the bad boy but with a heart of gold type). Jake is the unpredictable, kind of unbalanced one, and while he’s the absolute definition of a bad boy, there’s horrible things in his past that have shaped who he has become today. Greg and Jake are a perfect fit-best friends, roommates, work partners, and possibly more—if they can overcome Jake’s past and keep themselves alive when someone wants them dead.

Between the Secrets is high on the action, suspense and tension, and when Greg and Jake do come together it’s also hot, intimate and raw. Each would do anything for the other, and at times things between them can be quite intense. This story does touch on the difficult topics of sexual and physical abuse, so may be disturbing for some readers. It does leave you wanting to tuck Jake away in your heart for everything he’s been through.

There’s a lot of buildup as the two try to figure out who is out to get rid of them, and because of that the ending seemed a bit anti-climactic to me. We’re also left with a bit of a cliffhanger involving their boss, Ron, which is meant to hook you for the next book. In the end, Between the Secrets was a 3.5-star read for me, and it’s the relationship between Greg and Jake with its intensity and emotion that earned it each of those stars. This book is meant strictly for readers 18+ for adult language and topics, and M/M sexual content.

Between the Secrets by S. Ferguson deals with some very emotional subject matter. I was gutted. This is a M/M friends-to-lovers romance. Sometimes you find just that what you always needed was right in front of you.

Jake’s background was so hard and staggering. I felt so much for him. His past had so much hurt and pain that he never really dealt with and that haunted him. He threw himself into alcohol and random hookups with women to forget. But because of the guilt he carries with him, he was never free to live his life as he wanted.

Greg is Jake’s best friend and roommate and has always been there for him. They are very close, but Greg also wants more from Jake. But he hides his feelings from Jake because he knows he is dealing with so much. It hurts Greg to see Jake hook up with random women, but above it all, his love for Jake stood strong.

Then one night everything changes. Can they find a way to be together in a world that is already hard to live in? A world that is full of violence, alpha and very macho men, can they be open with their love and still be respected? And then there is the mystery that surrounds them. Is anyone safe?

I loved Greg. He was a mob enforcer with a tough exterior, but when it came to Jake, he was patient and caring. I loved seeing these two discover and share their feelings and insecurities with each other and coming to terms who who they were.

Greg and Jake’s journey was heartbreaking and hopeful. They have been through so much. This story had romance and suspense and keeps you captivated to the very end. S. Ferguson’s writing was remarkable and kept me at the edge of my seat.

I give Between the Secrets by S. Ferguson 4-stars.

If have you read Something in Between, you’ve already met Jake and Greg, if you haven’t read it, it’s ok, you can most certainly read Between the Secrets as a standalone. All the books in the In Between Series, can be read as a standalone, but eventually, in order to get caught up, you really should read the first book. This is Ms. Ferguson first m/m novel with Jake and Greg as your main characters.

I read Something in Between and was very curious about Jake and Greg. They are extremely tight, I mean they are even roommates, but Greg, who is gay, has always had feelings for Jake. Jake is a hard character to love at first, if you read the first book in the series, you knew Jake’s past wasn’t a very good one. Also, in the lifestyle that both Jake and Greg live, coming out is not something they can publicly announce, but the feelings are there.

After a come to Jesus moment for Jake, he opens up about his past to Greg. Greg is the best thing to happen to Jake and they take their relationship to the next level, but things are amiss in the underworld. A mysterious serial killer is on the loose, friends and foes are dropping like flies.

For this being Ms. Ferguson’s first attempt at writing m/m, she did not disappoint. The writing is getting a little stronger, but I think I wanted a little more angst between the two main characters. I also felt the storyline could have been a little longer with more a little more suspense. I did have moments that my heart really hurted for Jake. I felt Greg’s love for Jake from the very beginning. The next book should be very interesting after reading that Epilogue, so I guess you may want to call it a cliffhanger. Overall, I really enjoyed Between the Secrets and for those of you that enjoy m/m, I think you will also enjoy the journey with Jake and Greg.

I received an ARC for my honest review.

This is the second book in the series, but this time it's an M/M. This one follows Jake who is Declan's younger brother, and Greg. We got just a very small taste of these two in the first book Something There In Between.

I knew Jake had a traumatic past and in this book we find out all about that. He's been using alcohol and girls to numb his pain. We also see his friendship with his flat mate Greg turn to more.

There's some rather hot m/m sex scenes in this book, and there's also some very hard issues revealed as Jake's past is opened up to the readers. It's a very emotional read I just wanted to hug Jake, Greg is so good for him. With the help of both Ryan and Greg he finally can be free of his demons.

I would have liked a little more Bree and Declan in this book but I understand why they took a back seat, as this wasn't there story to tell.

From lump in the throat emotion to mega suspense and action this book has it all. I've been left so hyped up for the next instalment! I can't wait to see what happens next!

3.5* read.

So firstly I will say I havent read a lot of MM romance reads, probably only about 2 which if you know me you know thats a very low number for the amount I read. Mainly because when I read a romance book I like to be able to relate and picture myself in the story and so obviously with MM I cant do that so I just tend to not choose to pick up that genre. That been said when the chance came for me to review this book I was really excited just from reading the blurb and went in with a completly open mind. I actually loved this book and it would have probably been a 4/5 star rating read if it wasn't for the secondary charcters Bree and Declan who are a major part in this book and they completly lost me, the missing information just threw me and confused me and took away from what a great book this is. This book reads as a standalone but in my opinion book one in this series needs to be read first so as not to feel lost like me. The characters and story from book one is carried across into this book so for someone like me who hasn't read it I just felt completly lost.

A well wrote book but before reading this book read book one and then hopefully you won't be lost like me.

This has been in my TBR for far too long. What was I thinking?! I did not read book one but love Declan and Bree.

Jake is a survivor of years of horrific abuse, something I understand. This is a story within a story, really. It’s Jake and Greg and their job finding a murderer and a serial killer. Running towards danger while being a target. They each have their own pain, but together they are stronger.

Between The Secrets...soul-deep pain, lost in anger and confusion, denial, unrequited love, friends to lovers, passion 🔥🔥🔥, healing, forgiveness and love.

I enjoyed my first book by this author.

Jake and Greg are friends and enforcers for crime boss Ron. Greg is in love with his friend, but believes Jake will never return his feelings. Jake is struggling to heal from long-ago hurts, burying himself in booze and women.

This book made a lot of promises, but perhaps bit off a bit more than it could chew. For a book with such intense story lines (abuse survivor, organized crime, murder mystery, sexual discovery), it was very anticlimactic. There wasn’t enough depth to each of the story arcs to satisfy.

I had trouble connecting with the POV characters, and Jake and Greg never felt distinct. Their voices were nearly identical and, if not for the story being written in dual first person, I wouldn’t have been able to tell who’s POV I was reading without flipping back to the beginning of the chapter.

Note: Between the Secrets is the second book in a series, and, while it technically can be read as a standalone, there are many references to the first book and continuations of plot that may have hindered my enjoyment of this book.
