I enjoyed this book. It is part of a series and there is an overarching plot that is not resolved in this book, but the romance is developed and resolved and ends on an HEA.

Abigail is a woodworker artist who is 5 months pregnant by a man who deceived her, and everyone else, and has disappeared. She is also still grieving the death of her little sister which occured before this book begins. She wins a contract to install an interactive art project in the children's ward of the hospital. I liked her because she is down to earth and sweet natured but stands up for herself when she needs to.

Vaughn is a surgeon at the hospital. He suffers from PTSD after a year spent as a brigade surgeon in Afghanistan. He feels like his work is the only thing he can still do right and struggles to keep himself interacting with people outside of work. He also has a service dog named Ruby. Abigail is the first woman to catch his attention since his return from overseas. Vaughn is rude and abrupt at their first meeting because he is struggling after a long surgery, so their first interaction isn't a meet-cute.

I loved that Abi and Vaughn are refreshingly open and honest with one another and act like real adults. Their first night together does not magically solve all their problems or cure their grief and his PTSD. Their issues are dealt with realistically, at least as much as is possible in a short novel in the Desire line. When arguments occur, they communicate with one another like actual adults.

The plot with the missing father of Abi's baby carries on to the next book, so we never see him in this story. Abi and Vaughn do get their HEA, though. The ending was a little too sudden for my taste, but that's typical for most of the Harlequin lines. Despite the character and plot suspense, this was really a low angst book with a sweet heroine and a kind and struggling hero. It was a good, quick read overall with a bit of insta-love.

So I want to let you know that I did not know that this book was part of a series. If I had I would not have volunteered to read the story. I felt like I was missing a big part of the storyline and I didn't like that at all. Now rather I was or not is another thing. Since I did not read the book before this one, I have no idea if what happened to Abigail at the TCC is covered in that book. But I felt like I was trying to catch up.

But about this book. I did enjoy the characters. And I LOVE Vaughn! There is just something about a man from the military, even if they are suffering from PTSD that makes you want to just hug them. He is very protective of Abigail and her baby. Even if he has no need for others.

Abigail is still trying to wrap her mind around the death of her sister and now she is dealing with being pregnant. Having feelings for Vaughn will just complicate things even more. But she is tuff and deals with things pretty well.
Again I enjoyed this story I just felt like I was trying to catch up. Not the author's fault, just mine.

Vaughn craves the normalcy, he previously took for granted. Abigail needs a helping hand and a sturdy shoulder to cry on. Their choices have made them vulnerable, but can their connection help them heal? Expecting a Scandal is a tale of hope, a journey of love and a quest for happiness. Vulnerability does not make a person weak. It makes them human. That's the moral of the story. At our weakest, is when we become our strongest.

I've read and loved Joanne Rock books forever ( and I do mean forever ). So much so that I had hubby drive me from my Mass/Vt border with the kids every year around my birthday just to see her. My kids grew up loving Joanne and I continued reading everything the publishing world threw my way! This time Joanne threw her latest The Texas Cattleman's Club : Expecting A Scandal my way and said " Happy Birthday!"

That was on Thursday and I immediately starting reading it.... how could I not when I knew without even opening it I was gonna love it! Seriously in all the years I've read books by Joanne Rock I've never been disappointed so I wasn't worried about this book .... no that's a lie.... I was worried about someone interrupting me as I read it so I waited till hubby was asleep, turned off the phone and locked that cats out of the bathroom so I could read uninterrupted...

Four hours later I was a prune but I was done reading a book that was too spectacular to put down and thankful once again that the author the world calls Joanne Rock, I get to call my talented friend!

She nailed it writing Abigail Stewart and Vaughn Chambers romance! I mean not only were her characters superbly written but the story itself was as well. Full of diverse and passionate characters , a different premise than normal and a more than unusual job for the heroine to have, Joanne Rock knew exactly how to reel her reader in as she kept their attention from swaying even the tiniest of bits.

Lied to and left to fend for herself, Abigail Stewart had no one to lean on when she found herself pregnant with a criminals baby. So at 5 months pregnant her baby's future Abigail was counting on landing an art commission with The Royal Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Vaughn Chambers didn't have time for beautiful women trying to get money for frivolous statues when there were sick people needing medical equipment but unfortunately for him the money he thought was deserved elsewhere couldn't be as per the instructions of the benefactor was set up the foundation for an art project.

With no other choice but to work together Vaughn went to her house to apologize and never looked back, he couldn't because he couldn't take his off of Abigail .... Abigail and her pregnant belly...

As the days go by the two get closer and closer but ...
Is it enough to get Vaughn to stop hiding his true self.... admit to his PTSD and give love a real chance?
Is it enough for Abigail to trust a man again?
or will the criminal who ruined her life come back and finish the ruination he started when he left Abigail , pregnant and alone.

I'll be honest, the plot itself was secondary to the characters with me. I was so enthralled with the characters themselves and seeing them fall in love that everything else faded away.

Before you know it 4 hours have passed and the bath water is ice cold yet you never noticed it because they characters i'd just read from Joanne Rock's Expecting A Scandal generated enough heat to keep me warm from the inside out, they melted your heart and set it aflame with their romance, and a little help from Vaughn's guide dog , Ruby.

If you like Desire's Texas Cattleman's Club then this is the one for you.

If you like Joanne Rock then this one is without a doubt this is a must for you because Ms. Rock doesn't know how to deliver anything but the best and Expecting A Scandal proves that!

Guys this series. Yes, I’m talking about the Texas Cattleman’s. I love this series. I’ve been reading it for like ever and I loved Ms. Rock entry. Of course, now, I have to found out how it will all play out with Will. That said, you don’t have to read all the books to catch up. The series is centered around a town called Royal, Texas and the club is like a country club for the wealthy in town. Grandfathers passed down to fathers and now fathers to sons. Vaughn is one of its members, along with his dad.

Vaughn is just a delight. I know, probably a bad choice of words but he is. He isn’t alpha, a douche but an all around good guy. He is dealing with some issues that he brought back from his tours and Ms. Rock treats them humanely and realistic. In fact, his therapy dog stole my heart when he kept looking for Abigail in the bedroom. *sigh* What really made me like Vaughn was his approach to Abigail in the beginning. Sure there is a bit of insta going on but it made sense in the end. Vaughn knew his demons and didn’t want Abigail to get too involved.

Abigail is a strong woman. In most Desire’s they can be a bit for me but not her. She took her situation and didn’t dwell on it but just continued to move forward. What she didn’t expect was Vaughn and his love in the end. These two had a lot to get through and watching their friendship and then love relationship grow was a treat. Ms. Rock moved the story forward at a quick pace and the mystery element running through it was perfect.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the next Cattleman’s book to see how this is all going to play out. Did he really die or is going to come after Abigail once he realizes that he is a daddy? Plus, it’s a blast to come back to Royal and the Club to check up on everyone.

Whenever I pick up a book by Ms Rock, I know it will be worth my time, and this one , exceeded my expectations. Be aware that it’s part of a series, but it’s truly a stand alone. I for one, have not read the previous stories and had no problems with it.
This one gives us Abigail Stewart and Dr Vaughn Chambers. Abigail, an artist, is pregnant from a one night stand when she was most vulnerable and the man she spent the night with, was an impostor. Now, about to be foreclosed on her home, , she desperately needs to be awarded the commission of an art piece for the Royal Memorial Hospital. Not only for monetary reasons, but also as a way to honor her deceased sister. Vaughn , a doctor at Royal Memorial has his own demons to fight. He came back from serving as an Army physician , with PTSD. Thanks to his service dog, Ruby, he is able to function, but remains removed from socializing with others. Somehow , these two develop a friendship , and as the relationship deepens, Vaughn fears he will never be good enough for Abigail.
The story is at times heartbreaking. A reminder that many of those that serve to keep us and the troops safe, frequently suffer not only physical wounds but also psychological ones. We need to support these brave men and women.
Another engaging, heartbreaking but also heartwarming romance by this talented author.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Please make sure to check out the letter from the author. She gives you a little insight into how she developed this story. Her dedication, you can tell, comes from the heart.

Abigail Stewart starts the story with a question of “what happened?” It felt as if there’s another story that I’m missing – will have to do a little research. Vaughn Chambers regrets his behavior and goes about making amends. This author knows her characters. She shows that a man who seems so stoic can be shocked. It fits perfectly in the scene and a great way to end one chapter and begin the next.

I found myself very interested in what Abigail was creating. I don’t feel that my mind’s eye was doing it justice – just my opinion. Would have loved a chance to sit off to the side and watch both the process and the progress – I’d be perfectly quiet, I promise. Vaughn is a man who served his country and is now trying to readjust to life after. The whole story was sweet. If you like a book where you get lost in what’s happening than you have that here. It’s a book that you can finish in one or two days – it just depends on how lost you get. Than once you finish, the next decision you have to make is read another book by Ms. Rock or another book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: The Impostor Series.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

“Expecting a Scandal” by Joanne Rock is book 4 of Texas Cattleman’s Club: The Impostor continuity by Harlequin Desire. While the story is focused on the romance between Vaughn Chambers and Abigail Stewart, there is the overall story arc about the imposter being carried over from the previous books.

Vaughn is a surgeon at Royal Memorial Hospital and suffers from PTSD from his time spent as a brigade surgeon in the military. To help him cope with nightmares, he has a service dog named Ruby.
Abigail is an artist and her work is commissioned by the hospital to create a sculpture for the children’s ward. She is also five months pregnant by a man who was not who he said he was.

When Vaughn meets Abigail, he is immediately intrigued by her. They form a friendship though the attraction they feel toward the other moves to the forefront quickly.
Their feelings for each other, while laced with passion, are also very sweet and endearing. Neither of them wants to cause pain to the other, they want each other to be happy.

“Expecting a Scandal” has an authentic storyline and characters that will warm your heart.

With this story and others, Ms. Rock has definitely moved onto my list of auto-buy authors.

Instant attraction brings the pages to life! As we delve deeper into the Texas Cattleman's Club: The Imposter series, Joanne Rock brings us the story of a taken advantage of woman and a weary doctor who find an instant connection and set out to enjoy the ride while it lasts! The characters were easy to connect with, the story was a fast paced, easy read and the plot while having the underlying connection to an on-going mystery, had it's own story as well that drew me in quickly. I really enjoyed it!

Abigail Stewart never expected to find herself pregnant and alone at this point in her life. She's a talented artist and really needs this new commission at Royal Memorial Hospital ... only problem is, the handsome doctor that is throwing up roadblocks!

Vaughn Chambers is from a wealthy family, and became a surgeon because he wanted to, not out of need for a prestigious career. He's recently back from a medical deployment in the Army and isn't handling the things he saw very well. His brusque attitude is the first thing Abigail notices about him, but she also notices what a kind and gentle soul rests behind the demons weighing him down!

This book is #4 in the Texas Cattleman's Club: The Impostor Series.
This is Abigail Stewart and Dr. Vaughn Chambers" story.
Abigail is an artist who is 5 months pregnant. The father of the baby is an impostor, and she is doing this on her own. Abigail is working on an art commission at Royal Memorial Hospital. She wants to do a sculpture to the memory of her sister, who has passed in a tragic accident.
Vaughn is a sexy Texan doctor and on the board for the hospital. He struggles with PTSD, after a tour as a doctor on a military medical deployment for the U.S.Army Reserves.
Even though she is pregnant, Abigail has an instant attraction to Vaughn. She has to be careful because she is solely responsible for her unborn child. When he surprises her with the news that she has won the commission, he pays her all kinds of attention. Their connection defies most logic but can his dark past tear them apart? or bring them closer? Can he accept her baby?
Really enjoyed this story. I feel I need to read the other books in the series even though this story can be read as a stand-a-lone. Their chemistry is sizzling & I like seeing them both come out of their shells.

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book

Another first author for me. But I enjoyed this one. I love books about single parents.
Abigail is an artist, pregnant from a one night stand and the man she slept with was not who he claimed to be. Now she is on the edge of losing everything, she is desperately needing the commission from an art piece she is doing for the Royal Memorial Hospital.
Dr Vaughn Chambers has his own issues, a Army physician with PTSD, but thanks to his service dog he is able to function but is still removed from interacting with others, until he meets Abigail and can't seem to walk away, no matter how much he thinks he isn't good enough for her.

A heartbreaking sad story about two broken people who seem to find their happy with each other. And they might seem broken to others but are perfect for each other

The next wonderful installment in the TCC storyline. This story was a heartwarming story that had at times tears rolling down my cheeks. Abigail was another one of the unfortunate people swindled by the fake Will.. but she is one of the most vunerable as she is pregant with the fake Will's baby. Abigail is also an artist. She first meets Vaughn while at the hospital to put in a bid to put an art piece in the hospital. He is rather harsh with her. We find out that it is because he suffers from PTSD. He has a dog named Ruby that helps him. There are many bumps for Vaughn along the way that effects Abigail as well. We make strides in finding out more about Rich and Jason, who is missing as well. A page turner that I found hard to put down as I had to find out what happened...a wonderful love story where love does seem to conquer all

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.

I would recommend reading the below story before this one:
The Rancher's Baby by Maisey Yates
Rich Rancher's Redemption by Maureen Child
A Convenient Texas Wedding by Sheri Whitefeather

This is Abigail and Vaugh’s story. Abigail is solely responsible for her unborn child. She needs an art commission from the Hospital but she is wondering if she can. Vaugh surprises her with not only his attention but also what he wants from her. Can he not only accept her but her baby also? When she needs him most will he leave her? Or will his past be the thing that ends them? Or will she finally get everything she always wanted?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

Expecting a Scandal by Joanne Rock is the 4th book in the Harlequin Desire mini series Texas Cattleman's Club: The Imposter. This series has six books by six different authors. Even though they all have an individual love story with different hero's and heroine's I would suggest you read them in order. Each author covers enough of the back story that you won't miss out on a lot but I personally prefer to have all details when reading a series.

Vaughn and Abigail share an amazing love story that is extremely heartfelt. I love the way that Vaughn treated Abigail while trying to bring himself back to life from being in a war zone. Then Abigail treated Vaughn with such love and warmth. This book will give you a warm happy feeling. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It has been ages since I had explored one of this author's books. With all there is out there the time is what is limited lol. In here When Abigail and Vaughn cross paths that is when you are a goner for sure. This author knows how to weave a romance with her characters doing the deed of getting us in and the writing keeps us there. I normally do not go for this type of storyline with the excess being in it but something about this one called and I answered. He is also the kind of man I wrap around and adore. This is also fast paced for me I am finished in no time flat feeling like I lost friends too soon.

would give 4.5 if available

This two were so perfectly un-perfect. They both are battling their demons the best way they know how; Abigail with her art and Vaughn with his surgery’s and his therapy dog Ruby. They had a rough start that quickly transformed (first) into friendship and soon to much more.

I'm always drawn to damaged character and so it's only logical I’ve fallen in love with both MC's.
Even though this is a quick read it's not rushed and it's so well written that it'll leave you wanting more.

I didn’t read the first in this series so I think I’d understand the backstory with Abby’s baby’s father. But I still didn’t miss much. This was a quick, hot read which is what I expect from the Desire imprint.

I felt Vaughn’s struggles with PTSD and how easy it would be for him to get overwhelmed by people and need to take a timeout and chill. PTSD is no joke and I’m glad this story touched on a very important and very real issue. And I’m glad he didn’t think of Abby’s baby as hers but as theirs.

Sleeping with the Boss st al

Sleeping with the Boss lead to pregnancy so now the h strikes up a romance with a doctor on staff(who has PTSD) at the hospital where she is putting a major wood art exhibit. She is 5 months pregnant and within a day is coming on to the H by asking him to kiss her. I didn't feel any chemistry. Of course, there is sex and I found myself skipping over the lackluster scenes. The book needed a line editor to catch missing words, and phrases that made no sense. Also, it is very short and felt a bit incomplete.

Expecting a Scandal by Joanne Rock is part of the Harlequin Texas Cattleman’s Club: Imposter series. I always enjoy Rock’s writing and this was no exception. She brings a realism to her writing that resonates with me as a reader. She treats PTSD with sensitivity and grace not always found. I really loved Vaughn and Abigail and this story was the perfect escape. I highly recommend this novel.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

No epilogue.
Unanswered questions: what happened to Rich Lowell and Will Sanders? Will Vaughan overcome his
PTSD ? What will become of Abby's baby- will it have kidney problem ?
Loved Ruby the service dog. Didn't like that Vaughan is afraid to love and marry because of his nightmares. Abby is strong and assertive. She grieves for her sister and dedicates her sculpture in the children's ward to her.
I didn't know it's part of a series, as this is a new author for me.

I started this book and didn't put it down until I was finished. An emotional story of two people who belong together. Vaughn's PTSD is the biggest challenge, until the man who got Abigail pregnant, an imposter, may also be a muderer and is a threat to her and the baby. A continuing story of the imposter that is not resolved in this book. Yet...
I recommend this book because of the love story.

Ready this book really quickly. This one doesn't really have a lot to do with the Texas Cattleman Club other than referencing it a few times. A former solider/surgeon with PTSD meets an artist who is five months pregnant. Can she find love with the doctor or will he continue to push her away like he does everyone?

I loved this story. Dr Chambers who gave so much for his country and battling his inner demons needed to find peace. Abigail who was taken by an imposter and left with a child also deserved finding closure to her ordeal. Thank goodness these two found each other. It still will be interesting to see how Rich gets what he deserves.

From the cover I expected a romance. There is a lot more and less. There is more story than exploitation. Art deals. Stolen Identity. Pregnancy complications. On the less, there is a sex scene. One. There some early flirting and building, but the scene happens and that’s it. It’s not Jessika Klide type romance scenes.
Overall good story and likable characters. I enjoyed it.

I have a habit of picking mid-continuity stories, and this was book #4. I love a continuity and this one has a fair amount of intrigue, so I will be trying to find the remaining books and read them in order. What I loved about this book: an artist as the heroine, set in children’s health service, Dr as hero, the commissioned artwork (no spoilers).
