Just when Kendall accepts Cutler as a permanent part of her life, they are both tested when her past follows her to the southernmost point of the United States. How far will Cutler go when he discovers what Kendall is prepared to do to preserve her newfound freedom? Will their decisions protect their newfound love or unveil a secret that will consume them both?
Siera London's Fiery Fairytales series (romance + suspense)
Wonder if the end of the story would be same if she had been ugly, instead of a gorgeous redhead? Jealous much, me being a dark skinned Black woman who will never look exotic! Oh, well! 🤷🏾♀️
Personally, I am always on the side of an abused woman still being terrorized by the ex monster. This heroine (Kendall) had my sympathy because of the abuse and the fact that it had almost caused her to tip over for the long haul mentally. I think she was close anyway because of the thoughts and feelings she harbored because of her parents. The fact that she was gorgeous kept her in the game, as she really did not seem very like able when you consider her behavior. Although it gives the impression here that she downplayed her looks, can we be honest and say she knew her looks wowed! And, that because of those looks she could moon out over Cutler (Hero), in the 1st few minutes of meeting, then touch him possibly inappropriately and not get sent packing!
Anyway, I think I read the wrong book, as the book I reviewed gave some different synopses. This one was more my style, as it threw in the bit of mystery at the end. That seemed to come totally out of the blue sky and I was like, What?, where did this come about? But, it gave our heroine some cover to save herself mentally, get the respect of her fire team and get rid of the ex monster husband. And, most importantly, be saved by her man and her now future husband! Whoppee!
WARNING: This novel contains some domestic violence flashbacks, may not be suitable for all readers as my cause triggers. Recommend for ages 18+
I could not stop reading this book once I started it. Siera was able to pull me in from the first few paragraphs and had me wondering what in the world was I going to get into. Kendall shows up for her new assignment in Key West, Florida on the worst possible day. Everyone has hunkered down for a huge storm and unless she wants to spend the next few days in the airport, she's going to need some help.
Cutler is irritated as all get out that he has to go rescue the new guy, but when he finds out the new man on his crew is actually a woman, his attitude turns around instantly.
Kendall is affected by the instant chemistry as well but has instituted a 'no men' policy. She's just gotten away from her abuse ex and she isn't ready to lay her heart on the table again.
Siera takes a difficult subject and shows it's gritty side without going too deeply into details, but giving the reader just to know the hell that Kendall has been knew and why Cutler is the breath of fresh ocean air that she needs (her grandma agrees)!
Bravo for going deep into the long term psychological trauma that victims of IPV experience. Kendall's propensity for rushing into dangerous situations alone and not working with her partner or team stems from the isolation and put downs that come from abusers. She wanted at once to protect those around her and keep them away at the same time. Cutler recognized the wounded warrior in her, and even with his own insecurities allowing words to spew forth that triggered Kendall he desired her safety. This is not your typical hot fire fighter and wounded beauty. This is heat and instant chemistry that brings not just the hero and heroine together for insta love. It shows what a community that becomes a family will do for each other. Bringing Trace, Nathan, Rachel, and Claudia back into the story further developed the family ties. Beck's character could have been more developed since he was not killed in the fire. Would have loved to have read more about him going back to Dallas with his tail between his legs. Other than that I love the way Ms. London developed Red's character and helped her find the warrior outside of the wounds.
This is Cutler and Kendalls love journey. Kendall is a firefighter that lived in Dallas Texas she's also a recent to foresee from a very controlling man who degraded her and beat her regularly. She gets a transfer to Key West and meets the very handsome firefighter Cutler. Cutler is over 6 feet tall blonde blue-eyed and beautiful and he knows it. And he uses those advantages to bed every woman that he can however when he meets Kendall she isn't interested in him in the least. Or at least she gives that vibe. In reality they both are digging each other. If you enjoy the meeting and the chase this will definitely be a good book for you I thoroughly enjoyed it. HEA ending.
This book was sooooo good!!! Siera London's books always leave me wanting to keep reading. Her books are just THAT amazing. And Cutler and Kendell's story fits right in that category. Kendell didn't know when she got stuck with Cutler that he would turn out to be her knight dressed up as a firefighter. And Cutler didn't know that his hit it and quit it game was no longer in play. These two characters set their souls ablaze with their chemistry. Even with danger and chaos not to far behind. Cutler was determined to fight for his woman. And this book delivered!! Whew!! This book was that 🔥🔥🔥 I highly recommend this to everyone who loves an instalove steamy love story. Siera London did not disappoint. Trust me. You will not be sorry. 😉
Everyday strong, of independent women need to learn that it is alright to accept help! Kendall has literally and figuratively been through the fire and when Cutler seeks to help her she doesn't know how to accept the help. Their past experiences have clouded both of their lives and it takes the sage words of their friends and family to get them to see the light before it is too late.
Cutler was told to pickup the new firefighter at the airport as all local transportation centers have been closed due to the pending storm. He was told the firefighter's name is Kendall. Upon arrival he is shocked to find Kendall is a female not a male. She supposedly is only there for two weeks. Kendall is intense and extremely independent. A very suspenseful situation occurs when her husband arrives to take her back home.
I did not like this as much as the first book. The chemistry was just off between the H and h. Everything felt forced and the H's change from womanizer who only wanted one night to devoted boyfriend happened so abruptly it left me confused. The ending with the h's ex was also confusing. It was too abrupt. He was a factor throughout the story and then he wasn't. Hope the next story is better.
Okay not one of my favorites but it was ok. Trust is given as well as earned red learned that lesion before it was too late. Crazy is crazy and nurse ratchet was certified. It's hard to have faith in the justice system when the chief of police is commuting the offense . You really don't know who to trust
Kendall having just gotten out of an abusive marriage goes on a work assignment and gets more then she bargains for with Cutler! Loved these two. Can't wait to read more about them and their friends!
I love a good firefighter romance, and this novella fit the bill. When Kendall arrives in Key West on a temporary assignment, a storm is just about to hit, and she ends up needing to be "saved" since everything is shut down. Cutler is sent to rescue her and get her settled in, and they immediately sense the mutual attraction. But Kendall has secrets, and Cutler is determined to find out what has happened to her to make her so reticent to open up to him. Not only that, but she is a woman in a male-dominated profession, constantly needing to prove herself. A good story line and sexy romance make this a perfect quick read! I would have loved to read a more in-depth version of this book. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Concealing Fire is book 2 in the Fiery Fairy Tales series, written by author Siera London. Flames are set to burst in this Dallas Fire & Rescue featuring firefighter Kendall Raine. A hot teammate may be a distraction that threatens more than one thought for Kendall.
This is a quick read featuring some dark flashbacks. Siera does a good job setting the stage for this story to unfold and is full of chemistry and smoking heat. I would loved to had this story last longer, but Siera London has packed a heck of a story within the pages provided.
3 1/2* Kendall has temporarily transferred to another state after her divorce. Cutler gets a shock after been called to collect the relief firefighter to find Kendall is an attractive woman firefighter. He's smitten she's sworn of men, will he get his way? Loving the series this book has an ending & introduces you to other characters. The series starts with Nathan & symphony story Chasing Flames, Concealing fire Kendall & Cutler then Trace & Victoria's story Commanding Heat. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Good start to a new series of hot firefighters.
From the moment Cutler and Kendall meet there is instant chemistry. One thing I really liked about this book was that the chemistry was talked about right from the beginning. There wasn't shy glances and avoidance. The chemistry caused other problems but not a lack of communication.
I loved that Culter was able to see that Kendall was hurting right from the first time they meet and stepped up to protect her when she needed help the most.
Cutler and Kendall have an intense and immediate connection. It was fast paced and flowed so well. Cutler was great with Kendall. I wasn’t expecting him to be so sweet. I was instantly hooked and can not wait for Trace’s story.
