This was a heartwarming delightful story full of humor and Hart!

This book kept me up Way past my bedtime... laughing so hard tears were streaming down my face, trying not to wake up my kids... this book had a definite Sophie Kinsella vibe to it and that’s a huge compliment because she is one of my faves... this was such an entertaining uplifting debut that I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to read.....

Georgia was such a fantastic character, I am definitely adding her to my book BFF list! She was so down to earth, so generous, so funny, and she had a heart of gold... her relationship with her sister Amy was remarkable, it made me wish I had a sister of my own.... all the secondary characters were fantastic, Georgia’s parents, her BFF Natalie, her boss Bianca.... Jack her love interest was supportive, sweet, and swoon worthy 😍

George’s sister Amy is diagnosed with MS... Georgia is devastated, and does not know what she can possibly do to help her sister... so, when her sister presents her with a list of things Georgia should do before she turns 30, how can she possibly turned her down? But skinny dip? Skydive? Go on a date with someone you meet on Tinder? Not to mention bake an impossible cake? This book was really about taking chances and living your life to your fullest... to push yourself out of your comfort zone and crush self doubt...

An uplifting story that will put a huge smile on your face and bunches of hope in your heart... absolutely recommend to anyone who is a fan of a well told story with wonderful characters and a delicious aMount of humor...

I like to be transported to another place by a good book and I love a feelgood story, but I simply found this irritating. It's a very formulaic storyline, with shallow characters who behave stupidly, particularly the central character who is hard to like and immature beyond belief. She's 26 for heaven's sake, but behaves like a young teen.
The byline for this title reads "the uplifting page-turner that will make you weep with laughter", but I'm afraid it raised not the slightest snigger from me, only endless moments when I found myself wishing Georgia would grow up and act her age.
I seem to be out of step with a lot of reviewers here, but this book is definitely not for me.

Czasami myślę, że już nigdy nie trafię na żadną książkę, która mnie rozbawi.

Ale trafiłam na taką perełkę i niesamowicie dobrze się przy niej bawiłam. Uśmiech nie schodził mi z twarzy, ze 2 razy nawet popłakałam się ze śmiechu. 😅
Autorka ma świetne poczucie humoru. 👌

Książka sama w sobie jest bardzo pozytywna, nie ma w niej dram, przez co na chwilę oderwałam się od rzeczywistości i po prostu świetnie się bawiłam.

Couldn't stand the main character. Couldn't even laugh at the plot, that's how weak it was.
It was all way too shallow and rushed. I was extremely disappointed with how annoyingly immature Georgia was.

At least it was a fast read. But I was waiting for the story to develop - and for the author to learn a few more adjectives right until the last page. The characters remained shallow, the story very constructed but dull and the praised inspiration can be summed up in one sentence: get out of your comfort zone! There, saved you a few hours.

Georgia jest osobą, która lubi swoją rutynę. Nie cierpi niespodzianek, nowych rzeczy, preferuje leżenie plackiem od aktywnych sposobów wypoczynku. Jak grom z jasnego nieba spada na nią informacja, że jej siostra choruje na stwardnienie rozsiane. Dziewczyna ma swoją listę rzeczy do zrobienia przed 30 urodzinami, ale nie jest w stanie już realizować tych punktów. Przekazuje tę listę, w lekko zmienionej formie, Georgii z prośbą, by ją w tym zastąpiła. Lista nie jest jakoś szczególnie wymagająca. Zawiera 10 punktów mająca takie rzeczy jak udział w lekcji salsy, umówienie się na randkę przez portal randkowy, kąpiel nago w morzu czy coś bardziej ekstremalnego jak skok spadochronem.

Główna bohaterka jest dla mnie nie do strawienia. Jej potok myśli jest na poziomie dziesięciolatki, a ponadto rozczula się nad każdą możliwą bzdurą. Nic nie potrafi dookoła siebie zrobić, histeryzuje bez powodu, tworzy jakieś dziwne teorie spiskowe, zawsze zajdzie jakieś "ale" i jest ze wszystkim na "nie" - nawet przy czymś takim jak pójść na lekcję jakiegoś tam tańca.

Z każdą kolejną minutą audiobooka traciłam chęć na tę książkę. Przy tej pozycji trzeba przedzierać się przez:
- histerię, bo sprzedawca chciał dopasować jej buty i sprawdzić jak sprawdzają się w krótkim biegu na bieżni, a ona, ojej, spoci się;
- kolejną histerię, bo zostawiła byle gdzie swój pamiętnik i jest zdziwiona, że nowo poznany typ po prostu wziął ten zeszyt, a potem chciał się spotkać, by go oddać - nie zapominając, że wyzywała go od złodziei;
- i kolejna histeria, bo na portalu randkowym dała jakiegoś typa w prawo, potem weszła w opis jego profilu, przeczytała o krowach. Krótko mówiąc zaczęła sobie wmawiać, że jest wielorybem, bo ten typ jej nie wybrał do czatu;
- histeria, że umrze, bo zjadła coś z dodatkiem curry i przy okazji popis ostentacyjnego oddychania jakby zaraz miała urodzić..
.. a to co napisałam to dzieje się w większości jeszcze przed połową książki. Reszty nie zdradzam, żeby nie psuć innym tej karuzeli frajdy. Wątek romantyczny fatalny - tyle w nim romantyzmu co kot napłakał. Kompletnie nie czuć chemii między bohaterami.

Dobra, ja stąd uciekam.

What an absolutely fabulous debut novel!

I loved Georgia and what I loved even more was the relationship that she and her sister Amy have. If anything I was so envious. These two have got a great bond though at times it is pushed to the limits.

The list of things that Amy gives her sister to do, I have to admit there wasn't many that I would have wanted to do. Not that Georgia does either for that matter. The majority of them make for fun reading though as she works her way through them. 

The story is very much a mix of romance and sisterly love and how far you would go for the ones you love. At times it does get really emotional and I would have to stop to wipe away the tears but I would happily shed them all over again as it was such a great read. 

The List That Changed My Life is a wonderful debut which I really think will change your life, or at least have an impact on it. It gives you food for thought, of which, whilst at times emotional, was a fun and entertaining read. Very much looking forward to more from the author.

As saudades que tinha de ler um romance assim - que me enchesse o coração, que me fizesse rir e sentir genuinamente bem...Não há palavras que descrevam o quanto adorei este livro. Leiam é incrível.

Este livro é acima de tudo sobre duas irmãs - a Georgia e a Amy - que para todos os efeitos são noite e dia no que diz respeito ao modo de ver a vida. A Georgia é muito caseira e não sai da sua zona de conforto, enquanto que a Amy é uma aventureira que adora experimentar coisas novas.

Logo no início do livro descobrimos que a Amy tem uma doença que a vai impedir de fazer a vida que até agora tem feito, por esse motivo ela adapta uma lista que tem, e cria uma lista de coisas que quer que a Georgia complete antes do seu aniversário. A Georgia não pode alterar nada e tem que fazer todas as tarefas - o que resulta em situações bastante caricatas e engraçadas...

Adoro a escrita deste livro - o modo como a Georgia fala torna credível a ação, pois ela pensa e verbaliza tudo o que nós (leitores) sentiríamos se estivéssemos na mesma situação. Ela é uma personagem com a qual nos relacionamos e que amamos desde o início.
O crescimento que tem ao longo de todo o livro é brutal, pois a cada tarefa que completa ela muda e torna-se a pessoa que a Amy sempre soube que ela era - confiante, corajosa, intrépida...
Adorei ver a relação incrível que elas têm e o modo como a doença/condição da Amy agora faz parte das suas vidas, porém nenhuma delas torna isso o foco - o foco são elas, como sempre foram.

É um livro que nos faz pensar no que é verdadeiramente importante para nós, quem queremos que fique ao nosso lado, e os sonhos que queremos cumprir - os sonhos são muito importantes, mudam-nos e moldam-nos na pessoa que sempre quisemos ser...

Straszne to było. Nie żebym oczekiwała po książce tego typu niewiadomo czego, ale to nawet nie było przyjemne ze względu na okropną, antypatyczną bohaterkę. Oprócz tego, było to oklepane do granic możliwości. No i uważam jeden temat za bardzo toksyczny, a nie 'drobną przeszkodę do idealnej miłości'.

Este livro tinha-me passado ao lado quando saiu mas decidi finalmente ler e gostei bastante, fala de um problema bastante atual da esclerose múltipla que ocorre cada vez mais em pessoas mais novas, a relação da protagonista com a irmã é muito engraçada com toda a história da lista dos desejos da irmã que Georgia tem de cumprir impreterivelmente.

As histórias dentro do trabalho dela, com a chefe dela, com as amigas e com o irmão da chefe acabam por proporcionar bons momentos de bastante risota ao longo do livro. Foi uma leitura leve mas muito gira!

Did not finish.

This was the second book by Olivia Beirne that I’ve read in as many days. I didn’t like it.

It was full of ableism (disability slurs related to physical and intellectual disability) and also internalised ableism. For a book that is about Multiple Sclerosis - a disability - this is very disappointing.

3.75 ⭐ // Druga połowa podobała mi się o wiele bardziej niż pierwsza i ostatecznie całość oceniłam dość wysoko, bo kurde jednak wzruszyłam się na końcu. Ale nie zmienia to faktu, że główna bohaterka jest irytująca i ma decyzyjność piętnastolatki... Ogólnie bardzo przypadł mi do gustu pomysł na fabułę - jedna siostra zrobiła dla drugiej listę rzeczy, które powinna zrobić przed trzydziestymi urodzinami. Nie koniecznie dlatego, że ta od listy jest chora, ale chyba bardziej dlatego, żeby ta druga nie myślała o chorobie, tylko w końcu wyszła ze swojej skorupy (i cienia siostry przy okazji). Georgia ma swoje wady, jest momentami dziecinna, ale fajnie jest przedstawione właśnie to wychodzenie ze swojej skorupy i strefy komfortu, choroba (tu stwardnienie rozsiane i wpływ nie tylko na chorego, ale i otoczenie) i to, ile jesteśmy w stanie zrobić dla ukochanych osób i jaki wpływ mają na nas najbliżsi.

"The List that Changed My Life", the debut novel by Olivia Beirne, follows Georgia Miller, a twenty - six year old woman from London, working as an assistant to a designer. Even though Georgie is a great designer herself, she now acts as a runner/organizer/general dogsbody for her boss's wedding and wouldn't dare to show her her designs. Georgie's sister Amy is a fit and cheerful PE teacher, and they both share a very strong bond. It's no wonder then that when Amy is diagnosed with MS, Georgie's world collapses as well. Amy challenges Georgie with a bucket list, full of things that she won't be able to do herself - they're mostly very out of Gerogie's comfort zone, so will she be able to do it for her sister? And how much is her life going to change if she did?

I love books about lists, probably because they never work for me in my life. And here it was a list that was a little bit different, because it was written for somebody, not by our main character herself. It was for her, from her sister. And well, there were things that really weren't the easiest ones to do, to complete. No wonder that Georgia was a little sceptical, and it was a real joy to read how she worked her way through all the items on the list. I liked the way the idea of the list was executed, it was this little bit different to all the other lists that I've read about and it didn't feel too meh or too utilised.

Georgia herself was such a lovely and compelling character. Yes, sure, sometimes I've got the vibe that she's letting other people take her life over, that Jack's involvement into her list was a bit too much, but other than that she was a lovely, friendly young woman that loved her sister so much. She's been constantly pushed out of her comfort zones and we know ourselves how uncomfortable it can be, but she learnt how to value her life and how to stand for herself during the time. And, let's be honest, mostly we're really glad that we've done this step, no? I really liked the relationship between Georgie and her sister Amy, though there were moments that I had a feeling that Amy was a little bit too possessive, as if she wanted her sister only to herself, as if Georgie wasn't allowed to have her own life. It was especially apparent after Amy's accident on the steps, and as much as I could understand Georgie, that she wanted to be as quickly as possible with her sister, I couldn't help but felt a little disappointed at the way Amy reacted - as if it was Georgie's duty to be around her all the time. Georgie was always there for her sister, for better or worse, and I think she deserved a little life of her own as well. But those two had a great bond, that's for sure.

"The List that Changed My Life" was light, funny and poignant, heart - warming debut novel about love, sisterhood and about how much you are able to sacrifice for those you love, how far you'd go for them. It was emotional, and it was incredibly humorous, there was a lightness to it even though it touched upon such a serious issue as being diagnosed with MS, but it didn't make my cry. It was about stepping out of your comfort zones and taking advantages and opportunities. It was life - affirming and also thought - provoking, showing that it's not so difficult to test your limits and to simply enjoy and appreciate what the world has on offer. I'm already looking forward to next Olivia Beirne's novel, she's certainly one to watch.

Ekstremalnie urocza powieść!
"Lista, która zmieniła moje życie" uświadomiła mi, że nadal jestem w stanie przeczytać książkę w 48 godzin. Dający się lubić bohaterowie, przyjemny styl autorki, znakomity pomysł na fabułę i mnóstwo przekomicznych sytuacji - to powody, dla których nie byłam w stanie oderwać się od debiutanckiej powieści Olivii Beirne. Już jedna z początkowych scen - z gołębiami w roli głównej - zapowiadała świetną rozrywkę. Szybko okazało się, że im "dalej w las", tym zabawniej: zakupy obuwnicze, lekcja salsy, kuc szetlandzki - to tylko kilka motywów, które były źródłem wielu moich niekontrolowanych wybuchów śmiechu. Oprócz komizmu sytuacyjnego, nie zabrakło romantycznych uniesień, a także poważniejszych tonów w postaci wątku choroby siostry głównej bohaterki, jest on jednak przedstawiony w sposób dodający otuchy, więc zdecydowanie nie należy się go obawiać.
Chwalę wszystko, nie czepiam się niczego!

A co do samej serii "Mała czarna"- jeśli kolejne książki będą dorównywały poziomem "Liście, która zmieniła moje życie", to ja już teraz zapowiadam, że stanę się jej najwierniejszą fanką.

“The list that changed my life" follows the life of Georgia miller. Georgie is a young assistant designer at lemons but her life takes a turn when her sister is diagnosed with MS.
The book is AMAZING!! I simply loved it, though it made me regret putting it off for so long. The book is a great light read, it has everything a reader expects from a book. The characters are lovely especially Georgia she has cracked me up in the entire book making me look like crazy.... I loved the idea of the list that Georgia had to complete it gave her a great character boost and she turned into a completely different person. The portrayal of the relationship between georgia and her sister is well done. The book has inspired me too to make a list that maybe change my life (that obviously does not include a few of Georgia's points for obvious reasons)
Overall the book is a 5/5 rating for me

The publishers should be ashamed of themselves. Surely it is their job to correct grammar. 28 occurrences of “me and x” such as “Me and X went for a walk”.
This book was so predictable. Almost Mills and Boon-like (for those that remember).
Some say it is suited to a younger audience. Perhaps that’s true. But for me, the List at the heart of the book wasn’t even very interesting. The characters had no depth or back story. The narrator was petulant and whining.
Some say this is funny. Hardly. My book group rated it one of the most disappointing books we’ve read recently.

bardzo słaba - ani to komedia, ani to romans. główna bohaterka średnio co 10 stron wspomina o swoich piersiach i wyglądzie, zachowuje się jak trochę niezrównoważona nastolatka.
wątek romantyczny całkowicie nietrafiony, nie wiem, w którym momencie niby miałabym kibicować głównej parze, bo nie czuć pomiędzy nimi absolutnie żadnej chemii.
wszystkie postacie są bardzo przerysowane, przez co książka traci na autentyczności.

This is a really easy to read book. If I could do half points I’d give it 4.5 based on my ratings - I wouldn’t re-read it but I will definitely read more by Olivia Beirne so it sits between a 4 and a 5 really (downgraded to 4 for GR)

It flows really well, I found myself liking the characters and wanting to follow their story.

There’s lots of humour in here too (think Diary of a wimpy kid or Bridget Jones’ diary - it’s the same kind of wry, self-deprecating humour).

Totally enjoyable - it makes me want to create my own list! 😜

Kończę w połowie. I tak daleko dotrwałam. Aby była jasność: nie polecam. Lepiej patrzeć w ścianę, niż się za to zabrać.
Wyobraziłam sobie, że idę do jakiejś kawiarni i zamawiam ciastko. Czekam chwilę, aż uśmiechnięta kelnerka przyniesie coś słodkiego, ale zamiast tego dostaję szklankę mąki, surowe jajko, mleko i cukier wanilinowy. To są składniki na ciastko, które zamówiłam, więc co za różnica, prawda? Taka właśnie jest ta książka: niby ma wszystkie potrzebne składniki, ale trzeba umieć piec, aby wyszło z tego coś jadalnego (cóż za zgrabna metafora, jednym z zadań bohaterki z tytułowej listy jest upieczenie biszkoptu!).
Fabuła (chyba) miała być przepełniona humorem. Nie wyszło. Serio, nie wiem, co tam jest zabawne. Gdyby było, fabuła miałaby pewne sens, a tak jest momentami po prostu absurdalna. No bo, cóż, np. jest taka szalona, haha, szefowa, która chce mieć na swoim ślubie niedźwiedzie, więc Georgia (główna bohaterka) jedzie do zoo, by zapytać, czy może je wypożyczyć, no i okazuje się, że nie (któż by się spodziewał!). Haha, to takie zabawne, haha, bo Georgia jest takim typowym nieprzystosowanym do życia millennialsem, który nie wie, jak założyć prześcieradło albo rozwodzi się nad tym, że w sklepie sportowym sprzedawca zechce sprawdzić technikę biegania (technika biegania, co to???), aby dopasować buty, a ona się poci przy tym przystojnym facecie, uups. Georgia jest w ogóle tą osobą, która przecież nie ma kondycji, źle wygląda, mało zarabia i musi kupować w Lidlu, a chciałaby co najmniej w Sainsbury's. Głowna bohaterka miała być obrazem kobiet w podobnej sytuacji życiowej, aby się z nią utożsamiać, takie dziewczyny 25+ w dużym mieście, ale trafił się zakalec, któremu trudno kibicować. Nawet jeśli ktoś utożsamia się z brakiem umiejętności kulinarnych i zadyszką po dwóch minutach biegu, nie, po prostu nie sposób Georgii polubić. I jasne, nie każda bohaterka musi być słodko pierdząca, ale Georgia jest tak nieprzyjemna, że nie ma ochoty się z nią przebywać, nawet jeśli jest tylko postacią fikcyjną. Miałam ochotę kazać jej się zamknąć, a to przecież pierwszoosobowa narracja…
Oprócz tego jest jeszcze wątek siostry, u której zdiagnozowano stwardnienie rozsiane. W sumie cieszę, że przerwałam książkę w połowie, bo trochę się boję, jak ten wątek został rozwinięty. W każdym razie punktem wyjścia do fabuły jest przekazanie listy rzeczy, które Amy (siostra) miała zrobić przed trzydziestką, ale z racji choroby prosi Georgię, aby zadania wykonała za nią. To ma Georgii wyjść na dobre, wiadomo, takie otwarcie się na nowe, hehe, odtwórz się na świat, a świat się odpłaci, jak to głosi poduszka z Pepco. No bo po drodze na przypadkowej randce poznaje brata swojej szefowej (oczywiście o tym początkowo nie wie), a w trakcie biegania znajduje nić porozumienia z bezpośrednią przełożoną. Mam nadzieję, że przy wykonywaniu skoku ze spadochronem (tak, jest na liście skok ze spadochronem) Georgia rozbija się o ziemię, ale pewnie ostatecznie po pokazaniu swoich projektów szefowej (też na liście), wszystko dobrze się kończy i Georgia może wreszcie kupować w Sainsbury's. W sumie nie wiem, nie obchodzi mnie to wcale.
Podsumowując: przepis był całkiem prosty, ale fajny, tylko samo wykonanie ujowe, co sprawia, że nie ma się do czynienia z czymś wyjątkowym. Zajeżdża grafomaństwem. Nie daję oceny, bo nie doczytałam, ale pewnie byłaby jedynka.

Mocne 4,5 gwiazdki. Nie daję całych 5 ponieważ stwierdzam że lekkie aspekty mogłyby się odbyć w inny sposób. Jest to komedia romantyczna która jak już raz wciągnie to człowiek nie jest się w stanie od niej oderwać. Mówię to z własnego doświadczenia ponieważ dosłownie przeczytałam ją jednym tchem. Niesamowicie komiczna fabuła z miejscami gdzie widzimy rzeczywisty ból i cierpienie zarówno głównej bohaterki jak i jej rodziny. Jest tutaj poruszany bardzo ważny temat który akurat nie należy do takich z których warto żartować. Naprawdę polecam każdemu się z ową powieścią zaznajomić

Meh. There was a decent story in there somewhere... buried beneath the one note OTT writing style. The writing equivalent of turning the dial up to 11. A little light and shade would have gone a long way.

Also, if the main character was a real person she would be 1. ultra judgemental 2. possibly bi polar 3. definitely vile to be around.
