They bought her virginity for one enchanting night in their bed. They never told her they want to claim her forever.
Psychic Peyton struggles each day to cope with the drudgery of work and routine, except for the nights when she moonlights as a mood bouncer at an upscale gentlemen’s club for shifters. Denied a promotion that will give her the bonus she desperately needs to pay off a debt, she sells her virginity at auction. She finds herself in the arms of the winner - ruthless, powerful alpha wolf Dante Carrington, who shares his prize with his sexy beta wolves - bad boy biker Gabriel and sensitive poet Alexander. They want more than to ravish Peyton’s virgin body for one night. They want to claim her body, heart and soul.
When loan sharks threaten Peyton, Dante whisks her away in his limo to his pack’s private ranch to keep her safe. Dante, Alex and Gabriel are determined to protect Peyton and seduce her until she submits to them … and her own desires. They will take her hard and take her gentle, coaxing her to the heights of a pleasure she has never known. But Peyton is human and knows the rugged world of shifters can be dangerous. Torn between the erotic world she’s plunged into and the familiar, safe surroundings of the human lifestyle, she must choose between listening to her head or following her heart. Because everyone knows when you play with wolves you risk getting hurt… forever.
Bonnie Vanak fell in love with romance novels during childhood. While cleaning a hall closet, she discovered her mother’s cache of paperbacks and started reading. Thus began a passion for romance and a lifelong dislike for housework.
After years of newspaper reporting, Bonnie became a writer for a major international charity. She travels to destitute countries such as Haiti to write about famine, disease and other issues affecting the poor. When the emotional strains of her job demanded a diversion, she turned to her childhood dream of writing romance novels.
She lives in Florida with her husband Frank and two dogs, where she happily writes books amid an ever-growing collection of dust bunnies.
Boy did she write us a hot story.. Great hot read in this new series from Bonnie Vanak...It has danger, love, and some really hot menage scenes. Reverse harem, Paranormal shifters...Can't wait for the next in this great new series..
Just when you think you know what to expect in a book, the characters jump up and surprise you. The characters pull you into the story, at the very first, and I could not tell who were the good guys, who were the bad guys, and who were out to get whatever they wanted – the heck with everyone around them!
Peyton is a human psi (read the book; Ms. Vanak explains it much better than I can) seriously down on her luck when she agrees to what is a desperate move – she sells her virginity at an auction (at a high-end shifter night club) and is “bought” by Dante Carrington, a very rich, very sexy wolf. Oh yeah. Did I mention he shares his women with his betas, Gabriel and Alexander? Read it to feel how sexy and edgy this goes as the three “gentlemen” will play for keeps…or will they?
There is action and intrigue and fun and plenty ‘o’ smexy games! It is hawt, so be warned, but it is all about how four people can come together and heal one another, and then themselves. I loved it, even if some of the characters may have needed a slap upside the head now and again. And others, well, they needed a MUCH bigger slap down. Which one is which? Read it and find out! I recommend.
Taken by Moonlight by Bonnie Vanak is a paranormal, shifter, reverse-harem romance. This is the first book in the Shifters Wild and Free Series and can be read as a stand alone. So, reverse-harem seems to be the new thing and is not something I normally gravitate towards to read, but I enjoyed reading this author's Werewolves of Montana Series in the past. This series is off to a good start. The male characters (Dante, Gabriel, and Alexander) each bring an individual element of their characters that makes the story enjoyable. I find Peyton to be interesting and genuine. The story is entertaining with a little steam and conflict throughout. The only distraction is the need for better editing which disrupts the story flow. It will be fun to read where this author takes Guy and Stephanie in the next book.
A young Psi virgin agrees to auction herself off to the highest bidder among an audience of shifters for one night in order to settle a debt and keep her family's house. This steamy, reverse harem story has plenty of romance and more than it's share of graphic sex, so if you don't believe in kissing until the third date, you might want to skip this one, but if you love a story that's hot and sweet and has it's share of suspense and intrigue, this is definitely the book or you
The main character was independent and relatable while The guys were endearing and sexy, even if their backgrounds felt a bit rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
What Is It About: Peyton becomes desperate for money and ends up auctioning off her virginity. Luckily, the winners are her crushes- powerful werewolf Alpha Dante and his Betas Gabriel and Alexander. The trio had planned to approach her, but it's their lucky night when she walks out at the auction. Unfortunately trouble follows Peyton to Dante's pack, and its up to the trio to defend her.
What I Liked and Didn't: This was just a meh kind of book. The romance just wasn't believeable. I understand that this is more of an erotica than a romance, but this was meant to be a life-long relationship. I mean it wasn't as believeable as it could have been in a book involving shifters and psychics. Plot-wise, it's also pretty meh. Even though Peyton's the centre of relationship, it's almost like she's only wanted for her psychic uterus. The trio wants a relationship that revolves around sex and the antagonists want Peyton because her psychic uterus means that she'll be able to deliver a healthy werewolf baby. I don't know, I just think that I didn't connect with Peyton as a character. I prefer stronger female characters.
Final Thoughts: Re-reading the plot, I'm not massively sure why I gave this book a go. I think maybe I had a mini-phase of reverse harems, and I'm a sucker for a shifter romance, but still, I've read the book and the blurb doesn't sell me on the book. Would I recommend it? I don't think so. Will I be carrying on the series? No thank you.
The characters were lovely. I liked Peyton and how she stood up for people. I thought her personality really bled through my kindle. Dante was definitely not and I could literally feel his emotion. Alex and Gabriel were main in the story but they were on the side which was really difficult to do and I thought wow. I couldn't have read a better story with these characters.
However the ending was a little to quick. I felt for what happened in the story was very long for a short weekend. I would have loved for her to have some confidence when she went back to her job. There were things I would have loved more of but weren't a deciding factor for how much I really liked this story.
This was a fun read overall. I enjoyed the premise, but it felt a bit rushed in the middle. Like there was a checklist of things that had to happen in the book and we were just going through the motions.
I also didn't really jive with that scene where he forces her to strip naked in front of everyone, yet it's all about her choice, supposedly.
I really enjoyed the story. I mean three sexy as hell shifters and one woman. Fantasy much... But there was a lot of mistakes in this book. Numerous times Dante was referred to as Damian and Felicia was called Felicity. Many other errors as well.
This started out great, with humor and an original story line. Then the it completely fell apart. The tense shifts drove me crazy. It would go from the first person to the third in the same sentence!
Heartwarming loving and sexy I loved everyone in this book it was fabulous action intrigue sexy scenes that you definitely don't want to miss this is a keeper of five star rating I definitely recommend this book
Okay so reverse harem is an iffy subject for me but dang this one was outstanding. Our girl was a spitfire and took crap from no one! It was amazing to see her grow and evolve in this book. She had 3 amazing men and she helped each of them grow as well! Bring on book 2!
Characters were easy to like but more background on the three male characters would have fill the story in a little better. This book was a fast read for me and made me wishing for a little more to the plot.
I never really got attached to any of the characters, and that may be part of the reason. Some of the dialogue was a little cheesy for my personal tastes. Some of the plot was a bit predictable. I am usually able to overlook those things in a romance because I expect them, but for some reason they stood out a bit more in this book.
The whole "selling virginity" thing was also a bit much IMHO, but YMMV.
This book was not bad. I liked how there are humans in this universe that have psi abilities which make them unique. The shifters also have their own magic as well. Peyton’s character was a little off to me. The guys, I liked their dynamic and hoe they compliment her. Storyline was not bad.
