It's as if everyone simply vanished. When friends join ex-soldier Jonah on a European vacation, they discover that the beautiful German town where he was once stationed is now completely vacant. But the strangeness doesn't end there. One of their group falls into a coma, another sees a strange creature, and large mounds of dirt appear everywhere. Before they can determine just what is happening, Jonah realizes that something very deadly is watching from the shadows, waiting to hunt them. The pleasant vacation turns into absolute terror as Jonah and his friends struggle to survive. But what they stumble across in the depths of an abandoned military base threatens not only their lives, but also all of mankind.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Locked, cocked, and ready to rock." The reader is instantly sucked, twice, into this unusual horror apocalyptic story, firstly with a brief introduction to the discovery of a strange object, then to Jonah, an fairly unpleasant ex military man, thrown out of the army for drug usuage, and his group of close friends, planning an holiday in Germany. What they discover whilst there were the basis for the story.
Molters is an exciting read, plenty of action, and one where little stays still. Interesting creatures, too, and plenty of unpleasant gore to delight (or nausiate) the reader. Narration by David Drummond was very fitting for the tale, his somewhat gravelly voice capturing the personality of Jonah well, and his voicing of the other myriad characters was also good. At only five and one half hours in length, the time pleasantly flew past. Book two, here I come.
I received this book in exchange for my honest review 5 out of 5 stars Just loved this book. Didn't take long before things go south. And the fight for human existence is on. The narrator totally fits the character. Cant wait for book 2 "Being Hunted" Great start to this series.
A good start to what promises to be an interesting series, plenty of action, thrills and spills, and stomach churning gore! I didn't like MC Jonah very much to begin with, but he grew on me, I really liked the narrator David Drummond and can't wait to start book 2.
I’ll get right to it… I love the premise of Molters…. but this was not a fun book. D: There are a few really annoying problems with this story that really ruin the whole book for me.
Possibly the biggest problem with Molters is that the characters are all pretty unlikable! There are a few EH people towards the end, but for the most part, everyone sucks. :/ I didn’t feel anything for any of them. If a molter came over and ate them all, I was ok with it! 😮
The next biggest problem is the plot. I mean, WHAT PLOT?! :/ There really isn’t much going on at all. Briefly there is the vacation of the terrible friends, then it’s just Jonah driving or walking around killing molters. Then, eventually, in the last hour or two, we meet more people and kill more molters. :/ I don’t know… it was just super bare bones plot threads to follow…
Adding to the lack of a plot problem, is the time line. It is EXTREMELY confusing as to how much time is passing. Weeks, months, years(???) pass with not much fanfare or note. :/ I get that the page count is only 188 pages, so the story needs to cut to the chase pretty quick… but this repeated fast forwarding of time just does not work here. :/ It is very clunky.
I was really looking forward to a good creature feature story. Molters was not it for me. D: The characters and plot are unsatisfactory. The time jumps are just akward and confusing. I did not enjoy this one at all, sadly, and I think I will skip the rest of the series. D:
This story was different and is a bit sci-fiish. There are references to the molters evolving from something on Earth, although, that is only speculations by the main character, Jonah. He's an ex soldier and when bodies start piling up he takes charge. He's forced to or die. There's a long string of characters in the book and it could almost be divided into two separate books in a series.
The story had a good flow. The narrator matched my thoughts of the main character and it had enough suspense to intrigue me. It also has a fair amount of death. In a situation like Jonah faces death would be unavoidable. I don't normally have problems with character dying anyways but in this case it fits well. There are a few heroic moments for Jonah as he attempts to slay the molters that keep his life on edge.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys zombie/apocalyptic type books and movies.
In this lightweight horror tale we come across Behemoths, Infectors, and of course Molters. The story reminds me of a cross between Pod People and Alien. Our protagonist Jonah disliked the life he led and the wimpy person he was. As the apocalypse appeared and spread, Jonah transformed himself into a soldier and leader of sorts. Some of the technicals are off and require more study; like the Squad Automatic Rifle (SAR). Did he mean a Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW)? Anyway the story wasn’t too bad. I gave extra credit for a bit of originality. This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.
It was an ok read... An hour past and I did not throw it away in disgust, but it was not imaganitive or particularly well written. Can't say I cared about the characters, and it read like a plot for so many b-films, without any art and craft of the writen word.
I'm still not sure if I liked this book or not.It was pod people like.It was gross.Narration by David Drummond started out weak but did pick up.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
