An Offer of Grace #2

A Time for Every Matter

Rate this book
Seven years ago, Madeline Pine went mad. At least it seemed that way. She traded in her fast-paced New York City lifestyle for a quiet small town existence. On the upside, she now has faith and a sense of purpose.

Yet her tranquil world is upended when her nephew witnesses a murder, and she is faced with the challenge of keeping him safe. Compelling and enigmatic business mogul, Hiram MacArthur offers to assist her, but their growing attraction makes him more distracting than helpful.

New dangers, old memories, and a potential romance will all challenge what Madeline thought God wanted for her life. Will she trust His plan enough to embrace a new season?

What a great story outlining Gods greater purpose and His love. Too often we don’t understand His purposes, and in those times we have to trust His love. And that’s exactly what the characters in this story had to learn. Even as life’s circumstances threaten to undo us and we wonder about someone motives or we struggle with who to trust, we pray for the strength to trust His greater purpose and love. In this suspenseful story, one neighbor is murdered and another one shot and as the police begin to investigate they find connections to a murder 15 years ago when Madelines husband was shot in his gallery. And as the murdering robbers have not gotten what they are after, the danger is only increasing. Now 2 dear teenagers are in danger and everyone is scrambling to keep them safe while they try to find out who is behind it all. Can the instigator be found before it’s too late? Can they be romance blooming in the midst of danger? Get a copy and prepare to be pulled into from the first chapter. I love that the suspenseful action keeps you engaged while the themes of love, family, priorities, Gods purposes, and trust are interwoven into the story. So this story is both entertaining and thought provoking. My two favorite quotes are:
-The best thing a person can do is draw strength from the difficulties. But you have to make that decision.
-God gives us wisdom and expects to use our common sense and logic to make right decisions. But sometimes He works it all out for us.

I enjoyed reading this book. It makes you stop and think what is really important in life. It demonstrates how people grow and change. I liked the characters and how the story wasn't predictable. I would definitely read another one of Chloe Flanagan's books.

Madeline was head of finance in a New York bank. The CEO was told by the Fed’s to stop any loans for commercial properties. That’s were they made their money and he wouldn’t stop. She was to figure out a way to keep it going, and she didn’t so she was the failure. Getting rid of her will restore the dignity in the bank.

A Christian cosy mystery with well developed characters and covering many tough topics such as guilt, workaholism, family ties ,loss and friendship this was a very interesting read for sure .I read it in one sitting and was surprised by the turns it took . I highly recommend it and it's nice it could be read by anyone of any faith because although it is Christian based ,it does not preach .Their faith is part of the characters lives but their situations are human which makes them relatable. A nice way to spend a chilly afternoon .

I really loved getting to know Madeline Pine even better after meeting her in the book Forward to What Lies Ahead. Indeed, many people do think that she has gone "mad" after giving up a very successful career to live a much quieter life, pursuing her faith. Yet Mad carries a secret buried deep within her heart that her friends would never guess (and neither did I). When her long-lost nephew Jade shows up needing help and shelter, all of her regrets resurface. How can she be at peace with the choices she made? Meanwhile successful, aloof businessman Hiram MacArthur feels the walls around his heart close in around him when his son's family is thrust into dangerous crosshairs. From a distance he has always admired Mad's spunk, but when her life is also threatened, he can't stand by any longer. Yet can Hiram truly have pure motives or is he just serving his selfish ambitions again? A Time for Every Matter is a novel of love, redemption, and, most of all, second chances.....with some danger and mystery into the mix. I enjoyed this one even more than the first because it delves even deeper into the lives of Mad, Hiram, Regina and Mac! I hope a third one is coming!

In Chloe Flanagan's latest contemporary suspense novel "A Time for Every Matter," she captivates her readers with a murder mystery and a hint of romance. It was a fast-paced story, which included a variety of characters who were involved in the murder mystery storyline. The main character Madeline faced difficult memories of the past, and her faith and trust in God helped her through those difficult times. The ending was a surprise and tied everything together nicely. I think readers would have enjoyed the relationship between Madeline and her sister Pam (and Pam's son Jade) being focused on a little more in depth in the novel, since that relationship had such an effect on the decisions that Madeline had made up to this point in her life. This story was an easy, enjoyable read. Fans of contemporary suspense will thoroughly enjoy this latest novel by Chloe Flanagan.

This book is full of mystery and suspense, which make it a very captivating read! I loved the themes of forgiveness, even for one’s own self, trusting in God’s timing, letting go of our own dreams & looking forward to the dreams God has for us, realizing & trusting that God does have a purpose in everything, and gratitude for every day blessings. Love this quote: “God gives us wisdom and expects us to use our common sense and logic to make the right decisions. But sometimes He works it all out for us. And we just know.” I did not see the twist coming at the end of the book! This was fun reading, and I really hope there will be another book in this series!

This Contemporary Suspense Romance had me captivated from the very beginning. The story blends a lot of different topics within it's pages along with an engaging cast of complex characters.

The story was a bit fast paced and a lot happened in what felt like a short time. A few things felt incomplete and not fully explained on how they connected together.

Over all I did enjoy the story, and it had a satisfying ending.

Wonderful Story

This book is written to perfection. You immediately fall in love with Mad. Through every situation she deals with, she puts it into the hand of God.
This book will draw you in and hold your attention. You will want to finish it.

What a fantastic sophomore novel! This was a fun on the edge if your seat suspense with a good dose if humor and just the right amount of romance. It touched on difficult topics like adoption and losing a parent in war, but did so very well. Themes of grace, forgiveness and spiritual growth were prominent throughout. I loved seeing the characters from the last book continue to grow and the flow issues (bumpy transitions) from the first book were non-existent in this one. I look forward to more novels from this author!

An interesting story about what matters in life. How do you deal with hitting the bottom? Do you simply start back up the ladder again? Or do you forge a new path? Lest you think it's a dull, self help book, let me add to my review. There is danger, murder, drama, love, loss, art, & teenagers. Sounds like an interesting mix, eh? It is:-)

I won a copy. All opinions expressed are entirely my own!

This book is not really a standalone, I mean, you get bits of information about the first book and previous events, but you really want to start with the first book. :) There are deep characters and development. I love the humor in this book - especially that which is Madeline's character. Multiple perspectives (more than the normal two) are given. I am anticipating reading more from this author - she writes pure gold! There is so much wisdom in this book along with life lessons. A clean and Christian book, but not lacking at all on the romance and suspense fronts. Truly enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with for the Potter House series!

A wonderful story of faith

In a interesting and suspenseful story, we follow the road of Christian growth of key characters to a place of faith. There is also humor to brighten the journey. Very well written and I’ll be watching for more stories by this delightful author.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sequel to Forward to What Lies Ahead. My favorite thing about Chloe S. Flanagan novels is her characters. They are so likable and relatable. While the main characters of this novel were secondary characters of the first, she did a great job of continuing the first novels' characters' story while blending it with this new story. I am hoping there is a book three, and that it focuses on C.J. I would love to hear his story. Just saying. This book has suspense, some humor, and lots of poignant moments. I laughed, I cried, and I enjoyed it all! But don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself. It's a great book.

Gripping from the very beginning, you’ll wonder who to trust in this novel by author Chloe Flanagan. And watch for the twist that all good mysteries must have.

The thread of forgiveness and trust in God is throughout the book and adds beauty to the story.

The characters are well developed and the plot is intriguing. I would have liked a bit more description of places but that’s just my personal preference. A fast-paced murder mystery with clean romance, I highly recommend it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
