They can’t break me. I wasn’t prepared for what came after I got arrested and sent to prison. Finding my sister in that hellhole should’ve been easy. I wasn’t prepared to survive an alien planet straight out of a prehistoric nightmare. Facing my fears to withstand the creatures that wanted to eat me, and the four alien men that watched me like a morsel they wanted to sink their teeth into… I wasn’t prepared for any of it. But I sure as hell wouldn’t let it break me. --- This story contains a reverse harem (m/m/f/m/m) of fish-man, element wielding, alien heroes, mature content, violence, and probably too much language! Tempest is best enjoyed after reading Alluvial (Valos of Sonhadra #1) The Valos of Sonhadra series is the shared vision of nine sci-fi and fantasy romance authors. Each book is a standalone, containing its own Happy Ever After, and can be read in any order. Now, let's get this review started. I have received an epic ARC in exchange for a very honest review and boy, was i happy for it. Poppy Rhys is a damn master at alien romances - helloooo The Melier, anyone The Melier (Women of Dor Nye, #1)? and i happen to like the color blue (be it on an alien hunk or not) so you can imagine that i was hooked from basically before second 1.

description

Just a bit. This book is a bit of a package deal with the first one in the series Alluvial (Valos of Sonhadra #1) since the main chicks happen to be half sisters.

And guess what?

We also get a reverse harem!

description

For you not familiar with the genre form anime and manga, a reverse harem is the chick version of a harem. It basically means that a whole bunch of gorgeous and men (and let us be clear here, we're talking about 3 or more) are all madly in love/lust with one helluva lucky girl. It does spice things up that in most cases the chick in question cannot decide who to pick and instead picks all of them, not necessarily at the same time.

Or at the same time tot he delight of all involved, me included ofc.

This is Charlie's story and trust me on this one, it gets better and better as you read it. The story really gets you and you don't even need to get warmed up by our delightful, sassy heroine. At least in my case, i simply loved her from second one.

The sex scenes were hotter than hot and the funny moments made me chortle under my breatth in the subway, to the displeasure of a couple of old bats whose lack of horror-filled look at the steamy scenes i was reading was only attributed to their lack of understanding of the language we call English.

Our Charlie gets kidnapped by Dason as she was finally rejoicing finding water to survive one more day on a very dangerous alien planet called Sonhadra where she happened to crash-land along a with a decent amount of prison guards and inmates.

Of course, if you ask Dason - the gorgeous water valos who kidnapped her and almost drowned her in the attempt because humans don't have gills - he would say that it was more like borrowed, rather than full blown kidnapping.
The rest of us would disagree, bless his adorable kleptomaniac tendencies.

But she still warmed up to the 4 very hot alien hunks and got the D,

description

What i really, really loved was how the author made the guys' personalities shine. Even Charlie dear had her pet names for them.

We basically got Brick, Trouble, Stick and Kid.

I would definitely accept the entire package. I might even call them their real names a.k.a. Dason, Zaid, Lonan and Kahn if they played nice.

Or even if they didn't.

description

Warning!!! There are gills involved.

I repeat, there are gills involved.

I enjoy these books more than I thought I would.

Charlie was a likeable enough female MC, I liked her sister better though. I will admit that I am intrigued enough to know what happened to Papa Sol to read the novella about him, and to see if he gets reunited with his daughters.

The story is interesting enough that I will continue so I can see what happens to the rest of the female prisoners who crashed landed on this weird planet that these authors created.

My 5-star rating is absolutely real, but don't get excited - this review is kind of a test because I'm actually helping a friend on how to post a Goodreads review so I can take screenshots and show how it's done...

But I'll make up for it! Enjoy a Jason GIF =D

(And Tempest really does rock: LOVED Charlie & the guys *heart eyes* ♥)

Poppy Rhys draws me into her worlds with her realism in characters. They have depth with both good and bad qualities, just like a real person does. What a gift she gives us in her books!

Charlie is thrown into prison trying to rescue her incarcerated sister. When the prison crashes, Charlie finds and loses her sister when they escape in different directions. Charlie ends up in her worst nightmare - in the water.

The four Valos that she encounters are intimidating but she doesn't back down. I love her nicknames for them before she learns their names - Brick, Stick, Trouble and Kid(napper). So funny and appropriate. Each guy has a unique personality and yet all of them are a draw for her. Good thing she doesn't have to choose and that she overcomes her societal expectations of one man, one woman!

The backstory for the Valos is tough to read but explains the society she finds herself in. Good luck to Charlie and her guys in their future! (I want more stories!!)

This is a super fun Alien romance series. Read Book 1 before this one to get the full enjoyment.

Charlie is a kickass heroine who meets her self some mer alien heroes. There is a cute pet and a nice reunion with her sister.

Fast fun read.

Poppy Rhys alien smut with a reverse harem trope.... I thought it was going to be a slam dunk. Unfortunately it wasn’t for me, granted I’ve been in a funk so don’t take my word for it.

I just couldn’t get into it. I hated Charlie, I felt like the whole book was just her internal yammering... what was the story about? She’s supposed to be finding her sister after their prison ship crashes on an alien planet... guess what she does, practically just runs into her on accident towards the end of the book like “oh hey, there you are, I was just looking for you” seriously? No meat with these potatoes... that’s what Charlie was, a potato.... a hilarious potato but a potato none the less. I actually love potatoes, but you get my point (at least I assume you do.. idk I have an awful sinus infection so maybe I’m the only one that gets it) oh but she was a bad ass... half the story was her telling us how bad ass she was. For her to do practically nothing....

In the beginning and end of this book Poppy makes comments that show she was pretty uneasy with this book. The comment at the beginning shows that she was rushing to meet a deadline and the comment at the end shows she’s was not comfortable with writing a reverse harem. Both of those show in this book with the mass amounts of internal dialogue and the lack of character development, other than Charlie who was way over developed in her own head. I will still read Poppy’s next book and hope that it’s not a tag team series like this one.

Anyways, I will probably read the rest of this series, it’s like 9 different books by 9 different alien smut peddlers. I’m intrigued...

Book 2 in the series takes place underwater. Charlie, a former government operative purposely set herself up so she can go to prison to rescue her younger sister Preta. The rescue didn't happen as planned. The floating prison crash lands on an alien planet. Charlie is rescued/ kidnapped by a Valos named Dason. Dason lives with three other warriors Lanon, Zaid, and Kahn. Each of these guys is unique with their gifts, personality, and appearance. Let the underwater shenanigans begin.

Sisterly love, man. It's a big one. I mean, sure, Charlie got a little distracted from her mission to recover her sister when she got caught up in the underwater city and had four beautiful men focused on her, but she was also sort of trapped in the city until the fish migration was over. Did you see the part about four men? Four dudes entirely dedicated to making sure she's cared for and *ahem* taken care of. Can you blame her for getting distracted?

As for me, I liked Charlie's men. They were flirty and intense and a little growly when the situation called for it, but their complete dedication to all things Charlie made me grin. Honestly, no matter what superpowers a person gained from all the experimentation going on aboard the prison ship, Sonhadra is a kind of terrifying place and having a group of people actively working to keep their special someone safe is sort of needed.

Charlie and her men and Preta and her men have their work cut out for them between the natural dangers of the planet and the sudden influx of babies they're going to find themselves under. I'm guessing they'll do just fine, though. Each woman has four men apiece and that's a lot of willing hands to help out.

Have I mentioned I like these reverse harem books lately? Because I do.

Poppy Rhys can write really awesome sci-fi! If you don’t care for the Reverse Harem Genre then turn back now! This is absolutely one of the hottest books I’ve read in this genre. Great story and fun characters, too!! You’ll fall in love with Charlie’s 4 fish men. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride has nothing on Dason, Zaid, Lonan, & Kahn!! If I had to choose I’d take Lonan because he’s sexy and electrifying. 😁

5 stars for content and heat in this amazing book!

One of the interesting things about this series is that you get a further look into the world of Sonhadra and I have questions. In Tempest, the main heroine is Charlie. She seemed more fleshed out and real, all of the characters were. Probably because it's a longer book, but still, the flow and characters were a little more interesting to me.

Side note: I'm trying to get back in the swing of leaving actual reviews with words and sentences and grammar and crap like that. (Don't hold your breath for the grammar, I couldn't even spell it right the first time around. Thank you, spellcheck.) I'm having a hard time writing more than, "It was good." "It was better than good." or "It was bad." Well, baby steps.

I really enjoyed the humor and sass in this book. Very entertaining. Plus the alien, feathery ✨puppy✨? So cute.
The sex was really hot, though not as frequent as I was hoping for or expecting. The timeline had a little to do with that I think. There’s a part in the middle ish where, like 4 weeks or so are skipped over.
Anyway. I really liked it and I think the ending was really cute, If not completely satisfying…
I am just really curious about their father…

The Valos of Sonhadra series is a Sci-Fi alien romance with each of the 9 books in the series being told by a different author. If you have a favourite author of the bunch and don't want to read them all don't worry, each book can be read as a standalone. The background story for each book is the same, the heroine for nefarious and various reasons has been locked away in a prison ship and being experimented on by scientists. The experimentation changes each of the heroines in some way, which becomes massively useful when the prison ship crash lands on an unfamiliar planet. That's when the heroine starts to meet the natives. Sonhadra, the planet they have landed on, is inhabited by different factions of valos. The valos all have unique abilities and appearances...and most of them haven't seen a female in a long long time.

Wins the Award for Hottest Sex Scene of the Series

Poppy Rhys is another author I have read and enjoyed before (check out her Women of Dor Nye series), for much the same reason as I liked Amanda Milo, she gives good alien! And I loved her quartet of water/lightning valos in Tempest. She did a great job of giving each of the four alien men their own distinct personality in this relatively short book. She also wrote, in my opinion, the hottest sex scene..one woman, four sexy alien men it was quite the ride.

Side note: the heroine in this book is the sister of the heroine in Alluvial and they both pop up in each other's book. However, you don't need to have read Alluvial to understand the events in Tempest.

Overall thoughts: Sexy and cute, I really enjoyed this one.

Can never have too much water...

Just finished the second book of Sonhadra , TEMPEST , and I really enjoyed it !! I I had read the 1st book ALLUVIAL, by AMANDA MILO ( one of my favorite story tellers) , and since her story was actually linked with This story, I needed it !
TEMPEST is about Preta's sister Charlie's adventures after the crash of the prison pod of their prison spacecraft . In the future, all of the hardened criminals are out on a huge prison space ship that orbits Earth . So , Preta gets taken there , and Charlie her sister has come to save the day ! Charlie is a Super Solider, so she knows stuff . Like how to kill some one and make it look like an accident . But , as plans go , that is not what happens . Charlie ends up getting experimented on , just like her sister Preta, but with a different outcome. They end up meeting up after the crash landed them on an Alien pkanet, and then got separated AGAIN !! Charlie is helped along by Alien 's who are more Aquatic, and those sex scenes I think I wanna experiment with 😁😁
What I really loved about this book , as how Poppy Rhys was able to use such descriptive word to actually make me feel as though I was THERE ! I swear I could feel the water , and smell the fish cooking , and feel the sun on my back .... I love being pulled into a story like that. Don't you ? And the Aliens are four guardians of the Underwater city of Ghi , and they are completely loveable, and funny and seriously Man-from -Atlantis -sexy !! Well until they turn.......
It is a wonderful story , and if you like a bit of sexy Alien - will - do -anything -for -you story time , then I Highly recommend theses books !!!

second book in this compelation series of 9 by Poppy Rhys.

We meet Charlie, just your typical 29 year old living her life in London... right? WRONG...Charlie is a secret military operative..living in a futureistic London..one that has a pretty outstanding view of the prison ship Concord, where the lowest of the low criminals are kept and innocent bystanders are being used as leverage and experimental drugs and procedures. The world has no idea what is going on or what the prison operatives have been doing to its residents.
Charlie has a goal, she must get onto the Concord, wilfully blowing her cover, getting caught and sentenced to become one of the occupants.

And this is just the first chapter.... holy moley! This book opens the series further spectacularly, I was swept away but the world that was created and could not pull myself away... I didn’t want to... and that’s was before any VALOS ( planet Sonhara’s residents ) came in to the picture 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Brick, trouble, stick and kid....if Charlie didn’t have to pick one..then I’m not either!! 😂😂😂
Each charachter was lovingly constructed and I really enjoyed the interactions between Charlie and them individually and as a group...I had some real LOL’s... also some real HARD FEELS...and they were beautifully done!

This book is an absolute gem of a read and the world building is fantastic. I’m left wanting more, especially with the sneaky peek of charachters from book one!!

This book was amazing! I'm telling you I devoured this book. I loved Charlie and her men. The way she portrayed their growing relationship was perfect. I couldn't choose a favorite, each of her men had a distinct personality, and the camaraderie between them was perfect. Just a warning, you may need a cool drink while reading this, I'm warning you! Some of those scenes are hot! and some parts are just hilarious! I loved the ending, and I'm hoping for more of their story.

It was ok... just ok...

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,I’m finding harder and harder to believe I once loved to read Ms.Rhys’s work, when read “The Melier” a few years ago I absolutely loved it..... it was one my favorite....
The second part was just ok,not bad but not nearly as good as the first part and part 3 was absolutely horrible, the H was a huge jerk that treated the heroine like dirt but the again she was a doormat w/ almost zero survival skills are commonsense.... and book 4 the heroine lies, cheats and steals and uses everyone around her best friend and brother included but most of all the alien love interest she stole as a slave/bodyguard and with whom you aren’t really sure if it’s really a relationship or just a poor confused male trying to please his former master/owner, a weird relationship that seems f a r from healthy ....
I’ve skipped part 5 but decided to give this a try...
Why ? I’m not sure, Curiosity I guess..... and while this did have some funny moments, I found myself skimming and skimming and skimming because for supposedly smart assassin Charlie really wasn’t all that bright and her and her monologue so driving me crazy......
Page after page after page of thoughts about her past and her job and her dad and I honestly didn’t care....
I wanted the her and the now,not long inner ramblings about her backstory... Maybe in a meaningful conversation with her guys yeah, ok.... but not page after page after page of her past in her own head,Charlie honestly wasn’t that bright it felt like ,when she got scared or annoyed ,why not talk to the guys about it instead it’s getting upset and being prissy about it ..
Like why not ask the guys together why she’s in another bed every night ? I thought it was sweet that they did it to stop her nightmares but she only asked one and it’s one she knows probably wot even answer....
Too much inner monologue, soo much assuming not enough talking, like when they all have sex w/her one night, no one supposedly talks about it the next day or days following it...
Why ?
Then one day she seems to wake up and thinks ,Sister!
And just sneaks off w/out a single word...
WTF?!?!?!
They’ve been taking care of her, feeding her, clothing her, very thin for her and then suddenly she remembers her sister and leaves like an ungrateful itch...
WTH?!?!?
She already knew they are all badly her when their supposed “goddess” left them I mean seriously ,ungrateful and stupid...
She sneaks off with no clue where to go how to protect yourself or anything, how TSTL is that...
I just couldn’t read any more ....
Grateful this was KU...
And I’d only recommend Ms. Rhys first two books, “ The Melier “ is a great story and the second book because it’s part two ...
Though you could stop with the first if you wanted...
But personally that’s all I’d recommend here..

When it comes to Alien romances I usually prefer the H to be an Alien and the h to be plain human, so this series was a bit of an adjustment seeing as the heroines have all been genetically modified by evil scientists, but in the end I got used to it pretty quickly because they didn't end up being changed that much mentally and physically, they were still pretty human. The author did a great job with the story and I really enjoyed her writing.

THE STORY

I won't lie, just like with the first book I skipped most of the first part of this story and only started reading when Charlie meets the Ghian foursome. But even without reading fully the beginning I was able to understand the ongoing plot and what had happened. Just like the first book, I ended up being captivated and entertained by the story and couldn't put it down. I laugh my ass off most of the time because the banter with the Four was just hilarious. There was a great chemistry between the characters.

THE CHARACTERS

Charlie — I have to say I enjoyed Charlie's character more than her sister Petra. She was a great character full of strength yet still capable of tenderness and understanding even after everything she has been put through on the prison ship.

The Four Ghian — I'm usually not into romances involving Harems or reverse Harems but I have to say that the authors from book one and now book two did a great job with them and it didn't disturb me as much as I thought, I was pretty okay with it actually. The Four are absolutely hilarious at times and I love the fact that they each have their own unique personality.

— ALL IN ALL : final thoughts
The parts playing out on the prison ship before the crash are the most angsty and serious, but once the crash happens and the aliens come into play be prepared to laugh your ass off.

Will I reread this book ?
Once the series is closed I might reread each book and enjoy the adventure completely from start to finish.

Would I recommend this book ?
I would. It was entertaining and refreshing in regards to the worldbuilding and alien species.

Will I read the next book ?
I will , and if all goes well I'll read the whole series as long as the authors dont have too much of a different writing style.

The drool worthy four!!!

Oh Holy Hotness was this story good!!! Poppy Rhys has just blown this story right out of the water and raised the standards of this series. Now all I can do is hope they live up to this story (fingers crossed). I enjoyed this second instalment soooo much more than the first one and even though I'm not really into reverse harem stories this one has managed to change my mind. I think I may have actually been converted into a reverse harem fan. This story is about Preta's sister Charlie who let herself be captured by the police in order to be sent to the Concord prison station to try and save her sister. After the crash landing she meets 4 male humanoid looking aliens who are a type of aquatic species. These Ghians are very male in appearance with muscles galore, defind bodies, tall, large builds and massive weaponry! Zaid the largest of them all EVERYWHERE and Lonan with his shoulder length silver hair and braid were the strong silent types. Dason with his blue Mohawk and swimmers body and Hkan short silver hair were both sexy troublemakers. Each guy possessed a unique super power of his very own. And each one sexier than the last, with their own amazing personality and I found it impossible to choose which one I liked the most. The love scenes between all of them were off the charts HOT like panty DISINTEGRATING, heart rate ELEVATING, shower REQUIRING HOT HOT HOT!!! The way they were with her, always needing to touch her, taking care of her was so beautifully sweet I actually found myself feeling jealous of all that loving attention she was getting. The story was very entertaining especially from the moment she's kidnapped by Dason, to then getting to know her four and the search for her sister. It was non-stop action, passion and drama which I just ate up and couldn't put this baby down. The epilogue at the end was the icing on the cake for me, I absolutely ADORED it leaving me with a giant smile on my face.

Tempest ties in with book one in the series, so you almost have to read both.  I would recommend in order.  Charlie gets herself sent to the prison ship to rescue her sister who is featured in book 1.  Once the vessel crashes they get separated, and Charlie gets kidnapped to an underwater realm.  Where she is kept by four male aliens, who are uber hot.  Until she can understand them she nicks names them,  Brick, (built like a brick sh*t house), Trouble (he looks like trouble), Kid (Kidnapper) and Stick (aliens sex on a stick).  I didn’t even have to look that up, I just remembered it. HA!

Poppy asked at the end of the book which was our favorite male character.  I honestly don’t know.  Kid or Dason is a klepto who likes to borrow things and is continuously getting into trouble.

“I realized I had a problem.  I liked to take things.  Well, borrow.  I liked to borrow.  I borrow a lot.”
“It’s only borrowing if you ask first.” Silence.  He scowled.  “I’m unconvinced.”

Then there was Trouble or Kahn, who was slightly antagonistic towards Charlie, yet playful and well trouble in the best way.
Lonan or Stick who seems to be the leader of the group, who is also a clean freak and germaphobe.

Lastly Zaid or Brick, who is twice as big as Chalie but incredibly sweet and kind to her.  He is also the one who seems the most vulnerable.

So how do you choose out of those four?  I know I cant.  All I know is the sex scenes in this story are OMG explosive.
Poppy has once again outdone herself with characters who are vivid and real, and her world building is phenomenal.  I am giving Tempest 5 Boundless Stars.

Do not tap on the glass

Charlie is no ordinary woman. She has been trained to kill. In fact, that's her job: kill the bad guys however possible. She's a weapon. So, hiding in a prison in order to find her wrongfully held sister goes against everything she knows and has been trained to do. She is not passive. And these experiments? Wth is going on here? But, when the thing crashes through a wormhole and then to an alien planet surface, her freedom is at hand. No more Miss Nice Girl. Except, the planet plays as rough as she does. Everything on it is designed to kill, and probably eat, you. But below the water she stops to drink from is a whole other world from the surface. These guys are not guppies or goldfish. They may have fins but the have fangs, too. And a couple of them spark like an eel. Just where did this prison crash and how can she save her sister when she's being held in a a mermaid dome?

Poppy creates hilarious and strong female characters. I love her Nor Dy (not sure on that spelling) series. Her women are strong but flexible, they don't break and they roll with the punches. And are more than willing to toss a few of those punches, too. With the 1st book the initial relationship between Preta and her guard is already established. This time we get to dive in (he he, punny) along with our main characters. I know this is a collaboration, this series, between several different authors, but it is being done very well so far. I already know and love the 1st 2 authors and I have high hopes for the next 7.

This could have easily *EASILY* been a 5 star book for me..

*It walks like a 5 star book (I have never in my life been so hype for the MC&her men to have sex as I was in this book, literally I have never-&I've read a ridiculous amount of RH even standalone RH- loved when the mc&her men have sex so quickly but this is the first time where I was anticipating her&them having sex with happiness&not dread because the author fleshed everything out so well that every single time it happened it felt perfect&true to the story&never rushed, it felt so earned&genuine that I didn't know what to do with myself after)

*It talks like a 5 star book (each of the men held my heart in their hands&I have no favorite cuz they were all so spectacular+the plot was FANTASTIC&the way the MC was established was so *chef's kiss* perfect that by page 40 I'd figured her out succinctly&loved her immediately because of it+I love a happy ending)

So it should be a 5 star book right? Wrong.

I could not get past the whole 'these are aliens aka not humans aka creatures of the deep' part of it no matter how hard I tried.

Was way too weirded out the entire time I read it, to truly be happy reading it.

Full Disclosure: This was my 3rd time trying to get into an alien RH story&my 3rd time being too weirded out .. Lol.

So I guess this sub genre is just Officially not for me but oh my god if the author has a series with humans or creatures that appear like humans (aka vampires werewolves fae etc) I would be so down&excited to check that out.

This is a DIFFERENT kind of fish story

Tempest is a fabulous follow-up to Alluvial in the new Valos of Sonhadra series. There is a bit of character overlap, but truly, this one also works as a standalone. Charlie (Charlene) is a black ops military assassin who blows her cover and her career to get sent to the prison where her sister has been held illegally. Prison in the future is a spaceship, and when it crashes on remote Sonhadra, Charliw must find a way to survive on her own. Until she meets her valos - four strangely gifted aquatic aliens who can breathe under water, and live in a domed city beneath the sea. Since Charlie's one great phobia is drowning, she is freaked out when they capture her and take her to their underwater home. By the time they work out communication, food, and sleeping arrangements, Charllie has undergone a few strange physical changes, and an attitude adjustment of epic proportions. No spoilers, so I can't dish on all the freaky and fabulous deets, but this book is a 10 on the imagination scale, well supported by Poppy Rhys' cinematic descriptions and fine characterizations. Charlie's internal monologue is witty and reveals her hidden soft side, while each of the four hunky valos (whom she nicknames Kidnapper, Trouble, Brick and Stick!) has his own distinct character traits and voice. This story will charm you from page one to HEA.

Okay, so she is supposed to be the badass out of the two sisters but I didn’t see it. It seemed like her resumé didn’t match her real life except for on one occasion. I couldn’t stand that the whole time she was down there she didn’t find anything to do. It said she tried to move rubble but the men stopped her. Why didn’t she stand up for herself? Why didn’t she get them to talk to her? Multiple times they just ignored her. A few times it was said they had a conversation but it wasn’t actually shown. Just because you say it happened doesn’t make the audience connect with it. All of the conflicts could have been avoided if they would have communicated...but I guess there wouldn’t even be a story then.
I was glad there wasn’t any “feeding” going on in this book. They actually waited a couple of days before they did anything. I actually felt like they cared for each other a tiny bit instead of just doing what was necessary.
Why didn’t they explain why “kid” was a kleptomaniac? He was like a little kid. I very much so need him to grow up. It was hard to see him in any other light. In the beginning he snatched her with the understanding that he would play with her for a little bit; then when he got tired of her he would throw her back. That just doesn’t set well with me.

Also things did not coincide with what was said that happened last book.

Discovering a new world

Charlie has to find her sister on the alien planet that their prison ship crashed on. She saw Preta for a few brief minutes before they were separate by alien monsters trying eat everyone. Charlie's biggest fear is drowning, but she has to some water in her. She finds water but is afraid to get close enough to fall, and being water boarded daily on the prison ship did NOT help her fears. Thirst temporarily wins over win a man? Alien? Fish? Something comes out of the water, grabs and drags her under. Charlie knows she is going to drown until she wakes up to blue men staring her. This is where her adventure really begins. Does it end well well for her?
I really this series. This is book 2, but each book can be read as a stand alone. This book has few funny parts, I couldn't help but laugh out loud at some of Dawson's antics. Charlie herself has some humorous scenes with fit orange suit when she first arrives at the underwater city. I like the 4 calls are big tough men, but show hurt and vulnerability. I have to say Charlie is one lucky lady, their appendages vibrate!
This book was well written and entertaining. I really like funny scenes and imagination used.

Zaid, Lonan, Dason and Kahn -Charlie

Charlie is Preta from book ones' sister. She was working as an assassin on earth. A guy named Jackson had kidnapped Preta and sent her to prison so that he had leverage to make their dad do what he wanted. Charlie got herself thrown into the spaceship prison in order to save her sister. But after a couple weeks of experimentation, she felt like she was loosing her mind. They would inject a serum into her then try to drown her. Then the ship crashed on an unknown planet and she finally sees her sister only to be separated again.
Dason steals her off of the shore while she is drinking and takes her underwater to his city. There she meets Zaid, Lonan and Kahn. They are all Valos, but Dason can manipulate water, Zaid is a builder, while Kahn and Lonan have electricity. These four were the Creator's favorite. She bound their heartstones together. Dason is the mischievous one, Zain is the strong one, Kahn is a big tease and Lonan seems to be the quiet one.
I love how book one and two came together in the end with both sisters surviving and the stories intertwining. I am so enthralled with each of theses books. It is amazing.

Less believable but has an end game

This book was more typical of what I expect of an alien romance. The aliens were pretty humanoid with a few insignificant changes, large size being one of them. Overall anatomy and plumbing worked pretty similarly.

Whereas the first book in the series didn’t really have any particular direction, the heroine of this book had a mission: find her sister. That kept the book moving toward the end.

As far as the writing style, I thought this author was a bit less eloquent with her words. She broke the 4th barrier often, which tends to draw me out of the story. She also has a more Telly style which doesn’t really bring the world to life as much as I’d like.

I also got the impression action (sex or fighting) wasn’t this author’s forte. Two of the actions sequences were pretty much duplicates of each other. The eroticism was just shrug.

I think the author did a decent job of converging with the first book without too much redundancy. I would have liked the story to progress a bit further beyond the first book though. Still, it has me curious what book 3 might hold.

Overall, I’d give this book 3.5 stars.

Reverse Harem MMFMM

The first two books in the Valos of Sonhadra series involve two sisters, Preta and Charlie Sol. Book 1 is primarily about Preta and what happens to her after she is arrested on Earth and sent to a prison ship orbiting the planet. Book 2 is primarily about Charlie (Charlene) and her adventures on the planet Sonhadra.

I gave an extra star to this book because the flow of reading was better to me, the smex scenes were hotter and had less conversation. It just seemed like a more experienced writer penned it. And... tree 'dragons' just don't really give me fantasies, even though I love mfm romances. All of the characters seemed to get an even balance of attention, which sometimes suffers in menage books and did in Book 1 more than in this book. There is humor and a really cool pet bird-lion-dog.

I really like this story arc. There is a novella, Galvanizing Sol (Valos of Sonhadra, #2.5) that is about Preta and Charlie's father, and furthers the story.

Available on Kindle Unlimited as of 01/16/2019.

These books! I cannot resist the pull of the valos of Sonhadra!!
I was thrilled that “Alluvial” and “Tempest” were stories about two sisters, why they were on the prison ship, their experiences and how, once separated, they worked to find each other. The authors did an admirable job of writing cohesive stories that created a greater whole. In “Tempest,” we see Charlie planning her sister Petra’s rescue from prison. She is unprepared for the reality of the situation, and thankfully, they crash on Sonhadra before it’s too late!
I do so love strong women and the males who love them. Charlie is kidnapped (borrowed) by Dason and soon meets his buddies, Zaid, Lonan and Kahn. These guys have extraordinary powers and I love their personalities! So protective! The author’s playful sense of humor shines throughout the book. It’s an excellent story with scary high adventure, fun and frolics, and ultimate happiness. And I really want more of these folks!

And it just keeps getting better!

I thought Preta's dragons were hot then I met Charlie's "mermen" and dang! I love how we learn about the valos history and find out about the other pods of the Concord. What crazy imagination do you have to have to imagine the creatures on this world. Plus the jokes in this one - Grandpa? Pahahahahahaha! Now it's over and Charlie and her dudes are happy I need to know more about the others.

Why were they doing tests on criminals? Was everyone there actually a criminal? What became of Preta's friends? What if a psycho inmate hooks up with some psycho Valos? The Creators are coming back at some point, aren't they? And when they do will they be loving and benevolent or egotistical and power hungry? So many questions ergo so many more stories to be told! Can't wait to read Daddy Sol's story. Loving this series!
