“The sea is as near as we come to another world.” —Anne Stevenson
This book celebrates oceans, coasts and shorelines the world over. Bringing together incredible stories and legends of the sea, delicious recipes and activities inspired by the coast, and fascinating trivia on everything from marine exploration to the turning tides, it will captivate anyone who is enthralled by the wonder of the sea.
A pretty little book that my small local OK library has in hardcover for some reason. It should be in the travel section, I think, as we're inland.... In any case, very random, like a scrapbook. And at one point there's a shrimp recipe, and at another point it says don't eat shrimp because it's badly overfished. Ack.
This was a fun read all centered around the ocean. Starting with poems, unusual travel destination tips, fun facts, crafts, activity ideas and some recipes. While the book had a lot of photographs I still wished for more. I ended up googling some of the described animals or destinations.
