I loved Bam and Lucy's story so much. If you're looking for a story full of angst and a bunch of twists and turns, then this isn't it. This is the story of two people meeting at just the right time. These two were amazing together and perfect for each other. Their banter was super cute and had me lol'ing a few times. Bam is sexy and sweet. He's not your typical manwhore rockstar. And Lucy...it's not often I like an h as much as I liked Lucy. She's so down to earth and secure in herself. These two just felt real to me. I'm not sure if this is the first adventure of the Davenports writing together but I will definitely check out more of their stories in the future.
I absolutely loved this. Lucy was funny and sweet and I liked that she wasn't all about the drama or didn't really ty too hard to push and pull in a relationship. Oh and let's just take a moment to smile because I loved how sweet and not rockstar like Bam was. He was not your stereotypical rockstar and he was for a perfect rockstar hero. One I can get behind.
This has that instant connection/Love feel that didn't seem fake or forced
It had likeable H and h which is hard to find
And it had the spice I like with a great story. Seriously a win win yet again Piper knocks it put of the park
I really loved the premise of this story, daughter & manager of legendary rock band frontman seeks out her favorite band to open on their reunion tour. Lucy is a great character, sweet, smart and funny and not afraid to go after what she wants, when she wants it and that would be Bam Nelson, drummer for the potential opening band Roses for Anna. Bam is having a really bad night when he sees the gorgeous red head talking to his manager, who he decides to punch in the mouth at that exact moment. While almost blowing the opportunity for his band, Bam does know how to grovel and he & Lucy fall for each other. Their love can be considered insta-love but hey it's rock and roll and I fell for both of them, this book also had some very funny moments thanks to Roxie, Lucy's mother her discussing the "Sex Video" with Lucy was worth the price of the book alone. That being said I was disappointed that we never got to the actual tour, but instead are dropped into a murder mystery involving Bam's family, his manager and characters I can only assume were from previous books. There is another book in this series that will focus on Roses for Anna's new Manager Hadley & Jack, the drummer from Lucy's father's band. I will be following this series, not only to hopefully get to the tour, but Anna was my mom's name and she did love roses!
A rockstar princess and a rockstar....OH YES PLEASE!!! I love everything that Piper Davenport has published so when I saw she partnered with her hubby to cowrite a book, I was so happy. Lucy and Bam were more than just likable characters, they were lovable characters. This book was a sit down and read in one sitting for me. I started and could not put it down. Honestly, there wasn't one part of this book I would change. So many times I was laughing out loud and other times I was fanning myself and of course there is a scandal to go along with everything else. I'm telling you this is absolutely fantastic start to a new series! Can't wait to see what these two write next!
Broken Road is a surprising read for me as I do not normally enjoy Rock Star Romance however it had a great ensemble of leading and supporting characters and also had humour which was brilliant. I have also loved Piper’s MC Romance so I was interested to see her take on this new world!
Firstly love Lucy and as any onion ring lover knows - onion rings solve all of life's dramas and make everything good again - so Lucy is my kind of girl!
Considering Broken Road is written by two authors it flowed really well and kept its consistency and we are given quite a bit of background history on both bands. With the series continuing to other characters it all formed a good base for when we pick up the next instalment “On The Road”.
Now Piper has a great knack of entwining characters from her other series and I have read the Dogs of Fire so I could follow random characters that appear in this story especially when the drama started to affect Bam and Lucy’s road to love.
Lucy’s parents were one of my most favourite components of this story! They were funny and really explained Lucy’s overall outlook on love, life and no bullshit. Sullivan Wallace her bodyguard was a constant companion for Lucy and I was enamoured with the way he cared for his girl. Bam was a typical artist and it was great to know the background of Roses for Anna and also Lucy’s dad’s band and their passionate love scenes were perfect.
My only complaint was I felt the story with Bam in the middle returning to his home was a little rushed and kind of thrown in to me and I was actually expecting a bit more drama/danger to Lucy/Bam?
I must admit I cannot wait to read “The Way Back” which is Hadley & Jack’s story, I have a feeling it is going to be epic as Jack’s background story immediately pulled at my heart strings.
Favourite Quote: "Hmm, onion rings. The meeting went that badly?"
A fun rock star romance with a bit of a twist! I liked Lucy a lot -- she is sweet yet strong and speaks her mind. Bam isn't your average rock star (even though he does have the awful rock star name). Yes, he is incredibly talented and gorgeous, but there is a depth and humility to him that you don't often find in these stories. Lucy grew up with a rock star father, so she is familiar with both the positives and negatives of this world. Bam is fairly new to it and has been burned by people he trusted. The mentions of Bam's previous sex tape brought some fun comic relief. These two characters had a great dynamic and I liked their chemistry and banter.
There is also a little bit of a mystery regarding the murder of Bam's mother several years earlier, which was an interesting subplot I didn't expect but did enjoy.
Overall this was a fun read! Looking forward to reading book 2!
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Broken Road, is the first title in the Limelight series and features Lucy and Bam. Generally for me rocker romance can be hit or miss for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed this title.
I found Lucy and Bam's story to be a sweet and sexy romance. The characters are both realistic and endearing. Their banter is fun, flirty and at times quite humorous.
I found Broken Road to be incredibly well written, engaging and entertaining, to the point that I didn't want to put it down and read the whole book in one sitting.
Being a fan of Piper Davenport's previous books, I was quite happy to see several of the Dogs of Fire characters mentioned within this story line.
The plot contains a slight element of mystery that kept me quite intrigued. I thoroughly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys a contemporary romance, or rocker romance.
I am looking forward to reading further titles in this series.
I've read all of Piper's books and loved them all so I couldn't wait to read Broken Road which she co-wrote with her husband Jack who's in a band. It was written seamlessly and I couldn't tell where Jack's input was.
I loved the storyline; strong Lucy and bad-boy Bam both in the music industry but in different capacities. I loved the other characters, too, especially Sully, and I loved the humour which had me giggling out loud.
However, for me, the storyline with Jaxon (FBI) could have been expanded a bit more. I was waiting for something more to happen there, and without giving anything away I can't say what I was expecting, but it would have added more tension with a bit of nailbiting. This is why I've only given 4* and not 5*.
Don't let my "however" put you off buying and reading Broken Road as it is a really good read as it stands, with sexy scenes, laughs and what you expect to read about where a rock band is involved. Can't wait for Broken Road #2!
Lucy is the daughter of a rock legend and Bam is an infamous young drummer. When Bam's band is approached for a possible tour by Lucy, they jump at the chance. If they agree to a drama and booze free collaboration that is. Still trying to live down a sex tape scandal, Bam promises to do whatever it takes for this chance of a lifetime. Lucy has no desire to date a rock star after growing up on the road but after meeting Bam she might just change her mind! Great start to new series...can't wait to meet the rest of the band.
I recieved a copy of this book for an honest review. I will start off by saying that I don't typically read musician books because they typically dont hold my interest. But I really enjoyed this book! Lucy and Bam have amazing chemistry and it was so much fun to read their story. This was defiantly a page turner and I read it almost in one sitting. This books has great rock elements, romance, suspense and humor. I loved the cameos from her other books and I can't wait to read the next in the series.
Bam made a bad choice and now the media wants to only talk about him instead of his band. His band manager Chas sets up an interview with a magazine and was suppose to make that no questions to be asked about his ex. Bam gets in a fight with said manager in front of Lucy Haddon. Lucy was there to sign them up to front for fathers band. Now Bam needs to do some graveling. Can he get her to change her mind? Is there more to Chas than they know? Can Bam and Lucy fight their attraction? Come take a ride with the band and find out.
This was an okay read. I felt that everything happened super fast. I think Lucy and Bam fell in love in less than a month's time together, which was too much for me. Things seemed a bit disjointed as well . I would say my favorite characters are probably Rex and Roxie though. Overall, it was an average read.
first time reading this author. I enjoyed Bam and Lucy. He is a drummer for the band her father wants to open for their reunion tour and she is RatHounds new manager and rock royalty daughter of Rex and Roxie. cute story. he has a bad boy anger issue image she is a good girl trying to make it as her dad's bands manager. some typos here and their but a solid read. I enjoyed all the characters in the story as well
Maybe 2.5 stars Safe. I liked the hero ok, I wished the h could say one thing and actually follow through with it. I thought they were just kissing but next thing I know he's going down in her. What did I miss. What I just couldn't wrap my head around was the sex tape with his ex. They made it for just the two of them but it got leaked. The h saw it, her mom saw it... It skeeved me out. Another pet peeve was she has only one partner before him.
LOVED this book ... Piper Davenport never lets me down for a good read and having her husbands help on this book only made it that much more fun for a bookworm like me to read .... I LOVED it and after the teaser chapter sample at the end of the book I am just crawling the walls waiting to read book 2 I can't wait !!!
This book was okay. The author dragged the storyline on longer than it should have been to the point where it was losing my interest. Most of the book was the characters lusting after each other and steamy scenes. Plus some drama and things worked at the end, to find they can be more to each other.
Different genre with these authors from what I usually read. Absolutely loved it and a wee bit of the dogs brought in added to the story. Bam and Lucy worked well together with just enough tension and then recognition of their feelings. Solving the murder and the sleekedness of the manager was icing on the cake. So happy with this book.
okay it's official, I love every book by Jack and Piper Davenport! I don't know why it took me so long to read this series. I've had it in my library for awhile, but once I started I couldn't put them down!!! my only complaint... there's only two in the series. :( Bad boy rocker and the rock princess... need I say more? I would definitely recommend!
I really enjoyed this book and as an added bonus it was already on my kjndle so I must of got it when it was on offer before. This story focuses on Lucy who is the daughter of two rock stars (her mum was hilarious) and drummer of the band roses of Anna Bam. I loved how their relationship developed and how he wasn’t a typical rock star persona. I’m looking to reading the next one.
I liked the characters but thought it was a bit awkward in the addition of the FBI investigation smack dab in middle of rock tour set up. Just how does Dixie Mafia meet an Englishman? All seemed "dropped" in from another book or something?!!
This was just a decent read. I could've probably read it in one easy sitting but it got boring and predictable so I put it down several times. There's not much meat to this story that you don't get from the blurb. It was just to-do for me.
While I'm a fan of Davenport MC books (by both of them) I'm not a fan of rock star stories. Leave it to Piper & Jack to change my mind. Don't miss this book, can't wait for more!
This was just an ok read for me. Low drama low angst I actually wish it had been a bit more exciting. It wasn’t badly written or anything, and I enjoyed the banter between Bam and Lucy it just didn’t do much for me.
A very good book. Bam and Lucy got their love affair started after his embarrassing moment! They were able to nurture their love to the end! I love Roxie for supporting their love (mom is a trip) & closure for Bam was rewarding! A must read!
