A secret society of mages and shape-shifters is at war with blood magic wielding bad-guys. It would be super cool if the world weren't, you know, in danger of being overrun by evil buttheads.
When the Paragon Society needs a situation contained, they call in their top battle mage, Lucy, a dual-blade wielding, fireball throwing, kicker of butts.
But a traumatic injury has fractured Lucy's psyche, leaving her trapped deep inside her subconscious. The Society and her friends are desperate to save her and are willing to try anything. The devised plan seems simple enough; Orson and the gang will get magicked into Lucy's mind, locate her and bring her out.
Yeah, right.
Lucy's mind has gone into protection mode, perceiving any rescue attempt as a threat and the last place anyone wants to be is on the wrong side of a pissed off battle mage.
Strap-in for a wild ride through the Paragon Society where magic, monsters, and mayhem are the norm. Start binge-reading today.

David Delaney has been telling stories since he was a little kid. Of course, many of those early stories were told to get him out of whatever trouble he had gotten himself into. (But if his mom is reading this, he never lied – honest.)
As an adult, David continued telling stories, but a specialized kind of story called - The Television Promo (basically the TV show version of a movie trailer). If little kid David had known that grown up David would spend his days working on hit shows such as The Simpsons, 24 and Bones he would have totally spazzed out.
Now, David continues his joy of storytelling with the Paragon Society, a supernatural thriller series wherein battle mages and shapeshifters clash with people-eating-demon-women (among other nasties) over the fate of the Human race.
Lucy by David Delaney and narrated by Matt Godfrey is book three in the series! In this one we are in Lucy's dream, literally! Orson and others are sent back into her dreams while she is in a coma and arrive in the 1980s. What happens then is so unpredictable, scary, and sad. But the overall book is exciting with scattered humor, it's witty, fast paced, great world building, and awesome characters! I can't wait for the next book! The narrator is excellent in performing all the various voices and creating the right atmosphere!
Alright, reading this book it puts a whole new twist on the dynamic between Lucy and the rest of the society and also makes me question who exactly are the good guys. Shifters = relatively decentish.. Mages = Who knows!. I really wanted to see a showdown between Cynthia and Orson its been brewing. They just have to go at it. If people keep stopping them no one is ever going to figure out who is the top dog!
Kind of love Mrs. Kelly. Hilarious that she goes all big momma on every one.
The story was very good, it gives a solid backstory as to why Lucy is Lucy. The editing of this book, however, is horrible. One sided quotations, constant mixing up of similar character names, etc. I'm a fan of the series and enjoy it very much but a little more attention to the editing process would go a long way.
If you are a fan of fantasy then this book is for you it has everything drama romance comedy and intrigue I love the fight scenes but I also like the fact but there's a bigger story in place the characters are very likeable and the more you know about them the more you like them so don't just read this book read the whole series
definitely not as good and moving as the first 2 books. it seems to be more of a set up for one of the main characters, and the future villain. it almost makes one of the protagonists unlikable. however still well written i hope the next book opens up a little more of the characters without being totally setup. still all in all not a bad read, it just leaves you wanting more
I thought this book would help clear up questions about Lucy’s character but it just created more questions. The story was fun even though it was hard to accept much of what happened. As a sci-fi reader you expect odd things to happen but some of the story was just inconceivable, as a Sicilian might say. It was still a fun read and I look forward to the next book.
More adventures with Orson as he and his companions seek to help heal Lucy. This story is all 80s but doesn't really rock it until the ending chapters. Great finale that seems like it could be a bad acid trip instead of blood magic gone wild. Read the first 2 books before tackling this one.
I know it's strange but trying to find new authors to read can be both amazing if you are lucky or mostly not I chose this series of books because of robin Williams and the tag line of his programme mork and mindy the tag being mork calling Orson and I am so happy that I did
. . . Is a slippery thing. How we remember something is loaded with the emotion we experienced at the time. We can be prisoners of those traumas, frozen in the emotions from that moment until we reexamine and reexperience the event at a remove in time and life experience to give a new context to the event. Now add powerful magic to this process and you have "Lucy."
Though I do like the series, it’s another book that Orson is in maybe 30% of. Young Lucy is a horrible person and though not as bad as Jimmy, I don’t like reading a main character that I hate and am disgusted with the majority of the time. I didn’t really like the last one because we had so much of that rapist’s perspective. I would much rather just see Orson’s perspective.

An awesome story arc with a wild adventure in the real world that starts with blood magic and college kids before they enter Lucy’s mental world to try and wake her from a coma. Movie monsters and more make an appearance as we learn about Lucy’s past and even more sketchy stuff the paragon society is involved in.
I love every one of your books!!! I devoured this book in like a day and a half. I can't wait for the next one! I did notice a couple missed editing mistakes but I just corrected them in my head and kept reading.
Every story is one that keeps the reader pin pins and needles, keeping the eyes focused on the next chapter. Such an awesome read, plea bring more off Orson and the rest off the gang.
I like this series alot. Maybe it's Orson's personality, the interaction between characters, or who knows. I like it. Not sure how play out initially, if I would like it a bit I am glad I kept reading.
Decent, I like this series. It doesn’t blow me away and this one was short but I enjoyed it. The mind travelling and bringing people from a memory was quite confusing but whatever. I’m glad the mum is back as I was sad when she died. I hope the next one is better.

Finally we get the waited-for background of the kick-butt Lucy. I loved the back and forth between reality and dream, present and past, and the deep coloring of regrets and possibility. This book deals with contrasts, and it works perfectly!
Such a great story set in a great time period. David has accomplished his goal of writing entertaining stories with the paragon series. Keep them coming.
The writing and narrator is just as good as the last books but this one was mostly Lucy backstory I like her a lot more in the present and glad she isn't the same as her younger self
This series is so good! It covers the backgrounds of the main characters and moves the main story along at a great pace. I love all the pop culture references, I laughed quite a bit throughout the book.
