This is the prequel to Big Rock. It follows Charlotte's perspective at the beginning of the main story. It just shows why she accepted to fake an engagement with her best friend Spencer and how she felt towards him.
It wasn't bad at all. I mean, after reading Big Rock, I recall wishing for that book to have a dual POV since I was very interested in how Charlotte was dealing with the situation...I just feel here that the chapters, even though it's a novella, were too short, underdeveloped and rushed. I don't necessarily feel like it's a great prequel on it's own. If you haven't read Big Rock first, I don't think this little novella would make you want to pursue reading the main story in the full length novel. That's just my opinion.
The benefit of this short novella is that it's free. So if you are curious to know how Charlotte felt about the fake engagement, you don't really lose anything by picking up this prequel.
I never know how to rate these short introduction novellas. This was a very brief read and gave a little bit of background for Charlotte and her story that we'll read all about in Big Rock.
Blurb: My best friend is freaking awesome. But don't just take my word for it. Consider all his attributes. First, let's start with the obvious one. Size. He has this one fantastic bone in his body. It's bigger than other guys'. It's thicker, longer, more powerful. C'mon. I'm talking about his funny bone. Spencer Holiday makes me laugh like no one ever has. Sarcastic, self-deprecating, and always at attention with a joke--that's him. Except, it's no joke when he asks me to be his fake fianceé for a week. The trouble is I'm already falling for him before we even start. Oops.
**A Big Rock short story told from Charlotte's POV...this is an optional prequel to Big Rock!**
Ugh, another series I ghosted and never finished. At least I was close to the end right?
A Little Big Rock was a pretty quick book to dive into. In it, you will meet Charlotte and Spencer. It was nice to get more background into Charlotte's previous relationship because that guys was a straight A douche canoe. God, I hated him so much.
So when Spencer came into the picture, I just screamed. It was so cute and they were beyond adorable. I loved it all and look forward to see how this series is going to end.
An adorable little novelette (which I just learned is more than a scene and less than a novella) which leads into the Big Rock series, which I’m halfway through. Oooooppps! But still worth the read.
Cute little prequel novella to Big Rock. I actually listened to this one at the end of the Once Upon A Wild Fling audiobook, but the ebook is also available for free on most retailers! This was a great introduction to the characters and since Big Rock is told from the hero's POV, it was nice to get a little snippet from the heroine's as well as some back story to their relationship. Also, you really can't beat having Sebastian York, Andi Arndt, Joe Arden, and Erin Mallon narrating all together! It definitely made me want to read/listen to Big Rock and find out what happens next for Spencer and Charlotte!
I was quite excited for this because Big Rock is one of my all time favourites and I wanted to see a little from Charlottes perspective but I felt this was a little unnecessary and we didn't get much at all. It makes a great introduction to Big Rock if you were interested in reading it but it didn't add much if you had already read Big Rock.
Charlotte and Spenser are best friends. They are always there for each other, but especially when things go terribly awry with a significant other. This short story is the intro to their story, but it sounds like it is the tip of the ice berg so I can't wait to dive into the full story in the next audiobook!
I’ve already read most of the rest of the series awhile back, but I never feel like I’ve finished unless I read the little accompanying novellas. Anyway this was a cute prequel.
I highly recommend reading Big Rock by Lauren Blakely! It’s funny and cute! However, feel free to skip out on this one.
I mean sure it was fun to get Charlotte’s POV leading up to their fake engagement but this read like Lauren Blakely didn’t put much effort into it. It consisted of a bunch of pointless time jumps to moments that weren’t important expect for Charlotte catching her ex cheating on her.
Love love love love it!! 😍 It's just a very short story but this was the beginning of Charlotte and Spencer story. Reading this makes me want to Re-read Big Rock again. Big Rock was the first book by this author I read and was one of my favorites 💛 If you're also a fan of Big Rock Series, you definitely should read this one. And oh! It's free on Amazon 😃
Reviewed for THC Reviews A Little Big Rock is a new short story prequel to Lauren Blakely’s full-length novel, Big Rock, which is also the first in a series of the same title. The timing for it’s release couldn’t have been better, because I just finished reading Big Rock a few months ago. Since I had read it first, I’m not sure that A Little Big Rock added a great deal to the overall story. For anyone who’s unfamiliar with Big Rock, it’s written entirely from the hero, Spencer’s POV. This short story is written from the heroine, Charlotte's perspective, so we get to see a little of what was going on in her mind leading up to Spencer asking her to play his pretend fiancée. The two have been best friends and business partners for several years, but thus far, they’ve never crossed the line into anything more. I was pleased to find out that Charlotte was indeed starting to have feelings for Spencer that went a little deeper than mere friendship before he made his proposition. I also enjoyed being reminded of some of the reasons why I fell hard for Spencer. Underneath his playboy persona, he’s a really great guy.
A Little Big Rock is basically the first few chapters of Big Rock condensed down into very short vignettes that ends with Charlotte and Spencer’s first kiss. It was well-written, and it was nice to get a peek inside Charlotte’s head, too. We also get a quick intro to her sister, Natalie, who I’m pretty sure wasn’t seen in Big Rock, but who becomes the heroine of the third book of the series, Well Hung. Aside from getting Charlotte's thoughts on some of the events in the book, it doesn’t really add much in the way of new material, but since it’s a freebie, I can’t really complain. Overall, I think it’s worth the read if you’re a fan of the author, or if you're new to Ms. Blakely and just want a teaser to whet your appetite and see if her writing style works for you.
Who knew I needed more of Charlotte and Spencer? Lauren Blakely, that's who! This was a fun little peek into Charlotte's world, leading up to the point in time when she and Spencer finally gave into their feelings for each other! Now I have to go back and reread Big Rock, but this time I'm going to do the audiobook!
I'm not sure how I missed this little ditty. Big Rock is probably my favorite Lauren Blakely book. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse from Charlotte's POV here in A Little Big Rock. Essentially it was a tease, however & I really wish it was longer. I wouldn't have minded at all reading the whole story from her POV.
I wanted more of Charlotte...could you keep writing in her POV for what happened between her and Spencer!!! This didnt fulfill me...I NEED MORE!!!! lol
Even though I likes this, I was disappointed. I knew this was going to be short, I knew it's a prequel... But it was far shorter and had far less content than I expected.
It was really nice to meet Charlotte and Spencer again, but other than that I didn't Think these chapters added anything to the main story of Big Rock.
I can't believe I'm giving one of my all-time favorite authors a 2 star rating. But after reading the blurb and grabbing it on July 28th, I had no idea this was a teaser. NOWHERE does it say that it's a teaser to Big Rock.
How does this make me feel as a reader?
Jilted!
I was so looking forward to reading it on a Sunday afternoon.
I'm all for prequels and short stories in-between longer novels but this isn't even a story. Sure, it starts out well and good and then just ends. ARGH! 🤬😡
