All the Spiders! The Inheritors are back big time... Can Superior, Miles Morales, Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Silk, Spider-Woman, Spider-Girl M2, Spider Ma'am, Spider-UK, Spider-Man Noir, Web Slinger, Spider-Man India, Spider-Kid(!), Spinderling, Spidercop, Scarlet Spider, Octavia, Spider-Ham, Spider-Punk and all win?

You gotta love the Spider Army. Just for your information, the best Spider-Geddon story is the Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man arc where Morlun comes for Peter Parker... hard! This volume, just for all the Spiders gets a Three Star, 7 out of 12 from me :)

Essentially Spider-Verse 2, the Inheritors get free and try to eat all the Spider-Men of the multiverse. There's not much new here other than the focus being on Miles Morales and the Superior Spider-Man. Christos Gage is a good writer and I'd like to see him take on some more focused work. This event was just saddled with too many other miniseries and the like that made this cumbersome to read. This main book had a bunch happen off panel unless you seek out these other series that are only mentioned in a single panel. The Vault of Spiders at the end would have fit better in the Edge of Spider-Geddon book as it's also just solo stories of the various Spider-Men of different universes. I did think it was strange that the characters in Edge barely appear in this main title.

Entertaining enough. You get what you would expect based on the tiltle and the cover. A bunch of "Spider" characters have to stop something very bad happen.
It's alright but it suffers from the same thing that most of these type of stories do. It doesn't make the reader actually care about any of the characters. I was curious about how things are going to end and how the heroes will defeat the villains, but i didn't get emotionally invested.

I don't really know how to feel about this. Kind of...senseless?

So the Inhabitor's or whatever, are back, and they are hunting down the Spider-people AGAIN. This time though the teams are led by Miles and Doc ock to save the universe. It's basically a bunch of issues of different spider-people coming in and out of the series to face off against the big bads and their many versions.

Good: The colorful artwork is always nice, getting to see all the spider-people team up, and of course the humor is all solid. Christos Gage has a knack for writing a actual FUNNY Peter Parker, even bringing in his PS4 version to the universe. I also enjoyed the idea of this story and the end of Spider-people.

Bad: The ending...pretty bad. Just like any event, it's a big wrap up of everyone fighting and then all the good guys win. Also, the middle half feels congested and confusing and if not reading any of the spin-offs you'll be wondering what's happening.

Overall, a okayish event. Not horrible but basically like any Spider-man event, just okay. I hope Christos Gage gets to write more Spider-man but just solo books. A 2.5-3 out of 5.

If Spider-Verse is X-Men the film, than Spider-Geddon is X3 Last Stand...

World: The Art is okay, the main series is pretty solid, but the Vault titles are a mixed bag with the manga issue being the most lovely of the bunch. The world building here is okay. This is a direct sequel to Slott’s Spider-Verse and a lot of the pieces that go into this sequel are all from that book and an extension of the event. There are new pieces here that are interesting (which I noted in Edge of Spider-Geddon) and there are some new pieces here like the master weaver and all that, but there is lot of comic book science BS that is the main crux of the story which if you are okay with it you are okay with it. However if you see it as poor writing and too many goobers (like I do) then you will find the world to be a bit wonky.

Story: Much like the start of Spider-Verse (and comparing these events is fair) the premise and ideas is interesting and fun (who doesn’t love a multiverse tale) but the start of the event with Otto is rather paper thin and lacking in logic as Otto is not a stupid character and the books and Marvel do not paint him as an idiot, but much like Civil War II and what they did with Carol Danvers the very visible hand of the story and it’s needs really make Otto do stupid I things. I will try not to go in depth with spoilers but I will say that this event lacks heart like the first event did, there are not as many quiet moments and time to get to know these new Spiders and the banter and interaction of them really made Spider-Verse special, but in Spider-Geddon it is sadly missing. Also the idea of sidelining many critical characters to offer other characters a chance is a good idea on paper but how they managed it was pretty ridiculous and stupid (case in point 616 Peter, his entire 3 issue tie in was so contrived and nonsensical in a logic standpoint that it breaks the internal logic of the event and the world). As the event progresses we very quickly see that the lack of heart and depth of character really hurts this event and readers don’t really care what happens to these new spiders, where as the first event really allowed us to love Spider-Man UK and Noir and Peni and the rest of the different Spiders, we knew them, we got to know what drove them, but I digress I’ll talk about more on characters below. The end was laugh out loud ridiculous, I can’t even describe how stupid and convenient it was, and the solution was from Otto which was even more ludicrous. Argh...the end is really bad and abrupt and sudden with really bad pacing issues. This event really took a nose dive about halfway through, but it was not that great to begin with anyways.

Characters: Argh, what can I say. Sidelining the main characters can be a good thing, DC did it with 52 where character development really allowed for B and C list characters to grow, yes I know there was 52 issues there where there are around 18 issues here including all the tie ins so there are less issues, but still there was not enough for really good character development. It’s not really about the amount of issues but rather simply the writing which did not focus on this and rather just gave us mundane mindless action sequence after action sequence. We don’t really learn about the new Spiders other than the Edge of Spider-Geddon issues and when they do arrive in to the main series and the tie ins they barely have any development. Spider-Ben and Petey come to mind, what do we really learn and what development do we get from them other than in the Edge of Spider-Geddon issue, and that’s crux of the problem with Spider-Geddon, the characters don’t get any development and readers don’t really get any relatability with them. I really like the ideas of some of these new characters but really I wanted more depth. I really liked Annie and Spider-Ben and Petey but we get barely anything. I also liked Miles taking on a bigger role but I feel the characters were not done well.

This was not a good event, like most events the noise took all the heart and character away from the book and this is what we get, a poorly written noisy rehash book with a really stupid ending.

Onward to the next book!

Como apunte, esto cierra en otro evento llamado Spider-Man, Vol. 1: End of the Spider-Verse

🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️🕷️🕸️

In 2014, the event called Spider-Verse took place, in which some very powerful rivals called The Inheritors searched for and consumed (ate, you know the deal) spider totems, that is, spiderpeople from across the multiverse. At that event, apart from releasing variants like it weas free to sell more costumes and dolls, very interesting new Spiderman variants were presented. After closing that story (spoiler for the original plot), leaving these Inheritors trapped in a wasteland and radioactive land, everything was fine. Until they decided to make a sequel, which is what we have here. The Inheritors manage to escape and have to be beaten again.

The first thing to say is that this volume brings together issue 0 and the main miniseries of 5 issues, but it leaves out all the tie-ins, which are many, and therefore the vast majority of the plot and characters have their development outside of these pages. I already read it in its original publication and I just wanted to have this little volume, if someone wants the complete story they should choose other volumes that include it. As for the plot, carried out mainly by Dan Slott, it is little more than what has already been said, these people want to eat all the spider people they can and the good guys must prevent it. The drawing is very mixed, the main one is done by Jorge Molina who does a correct job. Special mention, unfortunately, for number 0, drawn by Clayton Crain, who uses digital images and I don't like it at all. It's my problem, I know, but I can't handle this style.

It is a less fresh work than the original, but it is entertaining, although things remain half done due to what was said about being only the core series. In addition, there are many and varied Spiderman, Spiderwoman, Spiderrobots and even Spiderpigs. As a note, this closes in another event called Spider-Man, Vol. 1: End of the Spider-Verse

This was definitely not as good as the Spider-verse. Also this had some continuity issues, such as I thought the Uncle Ben Spider-man had died in the Spider-verse....yet he was alive for this one???

When a fluke in the Superior Spider-Man's cloning technology offers the Inheritors a way to return to our universe, the call is sounded across the Web of Life and Destiny - the Web Warriors must reassemble, or Spider-Geddon will claim every Spider-Powered individual across the multiverse!

Look, I'm biased - Spider-Verse is one of my favourite Spider-Man stories, so I was always going to like Spider-Geddon going in. Even so, I wasn't sure I'd like it quite this much.

Christos Gage was the unsung hero of Dan Slott's Spider-Man run, co-writing or writing the dialogue for many of the issues, so he was the perfect person to create a Spider-Verse sequel from Slott's unrealised outline. What we get therefore is a story with the spirit of Slott and the polish of Gage that brings all the Spider-Men, Women, and others from across the Spider-Verse together for one more hurrah against the Inheritors.

Gage draws on continuity from Superior Spider-Man, Web Warriors, Spider-Gwen and more to craft his story, and wisely points the focus on Miles Morales and Doc Ock, allowing them to take centre stage while Peter's off doing his own thing elsewhere. It's a nice touch that gives the book a different feel to the previous story.

Jorge Molina handles most of the art for the story, with some help from Carlo Barberi and Todd Nauck. Their styles don't match entirely, but Molina's a strong lead artist reminiscent of Olivier Coipel's Spider-Verse contributions. It's a shame he couldn't do the entire thing, but then neither did Coipel from what I remember, so that doesn't surprise me.

Also included here are the Vault Of Spiders issues, which are just anthologies that introduce some of the newer Spider-Men from the story, like shorter Edge Of Spider-Geddon issues. Your mileage may vary as with all anthologies - some of my favourites were Spider-Ma'am (of course) and Spiders-Man.

Spider-Geddon's just fun. If you liked Spider-Verse, this is more of the same, from a creative team that knows how to do exactly what it's good at. And if you didn't like Spider-Verse, then I can't help you.

It's not too bad, probably, when judged against most superhero comic books and Marvel fare; it might've gotten one-and-a-half-stars-rounded-up-to-two-stars on a more generous read, but I just wasn't in the mood for yet another multiversal apocalypse sequel filled with comic tropes.

Thanks to a MacGuffin "cloning" "technology", a previous threat to Spider-Man and the multiverse, the Inheritors (who were huge letdowns in the last run), are back to threaten the Spider-Men. The Inheritors were last seen alive in a "prison" dimension because Spider-Man is a hero. The Inheritors require Spider-Men as a food source and have killed Peter Parker's friends, families, clones, wives, and entire universes, nor can they really redeem themselves since they require Spider-Men as sustenance, but I can live with Peter Parker letting them live because he's a hero and I thought the story over. But now it's back.

It's not as bad as "Somehow Palpatine has returned" but it's up there. At least there's a handwave in the direction of "cloning technology" and "multiversal communication". I can even accept the smart character doing something incredibly stupid with something he personally knows is incredibly dangerous is handwaved away with "arrogance" (he, Dr. Otto Octavius who has taken over a variant Spider-Man's body, calls himself "the Superior Spider-Man"), but dumb tropey shit just keep piling up. There's:

- A crack team given a forewarning to prevent the disaster from happening.

- They're on the way and they arrive at the scene at the last second.

- They waste time fighting because "We don't have time to explain!"

- They stop the disaster from happening, but then the disaster literally happens anyway (and at the last second, too).

- A heroine literally sacrifices herself to let everyone escape, everyone thinks she's dead, everyone takes the threat seriously because she's dead, everyone's resolve hardens because she's dead, and of course, she's secretly not dead because ... somehow Palpatine has returned she escaped.

- There's a secret lair.

- It comes with a self destruct sequence.

- The base self destructs to kill the villains.

- The villains "narrowly" escape.

- A big hero who has been built up as extremely powerful, is quickly dispatched by a starving, under-powered threat to make everyone take the threat "seriously."

I gave up after the "this book is really deep because now we have the Spider-Men pretending to debate whether they should kill the Inheritors because you know the Spider-Men are going to let them live and we know you know, but let's pretend we're having a deep philosophical debate." I don't care if they do. Book abandoned because I'm not Sisyphus.

Clarification: I didn't just abandon the book, I abandoned the entire series. The quality of writing has done a better job of killing Spider-Man than any of the Sinister Six.

I would give this like 3.25 stars. While I can say this wasn’t the best story ever, it was still fun and somewhat entertaining. Apparently this is a sequel to Spider-verse, which I have not read ( need to do that next ) These vampire like creatures have escaped and are back after our spider folk again. I feel like the stand outs in this book are Miles and Superior Spider-man. Then team gets beaten back and has to regroup, formulate a new plan and strike back. Most events that have ties ins can be read without reading said tie ins. This however feels like you should read them all. There were a lot of points in the story that are missing making you feel like, maybe I should have got those extra books too. Although I read the Peter Parker Spectacular spider-man and Spider-Gwen tie ins, I still felt I missed stuff be not reading the rest. Anyway, overall this was good enough to be a little enjoyable.

I was pretty dissapointed with this book. This story feel like a water down version of original story. What makes it worse it is only 1/4 of the story. Whilst the main story is going on there are two Spider teams and Earth 616's Peter Parker who's parts are not shown in this book.

The main characters are of this book are Miles and Otto, everyone else is a supporting characters at best and cameos for the most part.

The bright spots that made this three stars from two stars for me were:

The Gamerverse Spider-man story in issue 0 and his involvement throughout the story.

The stories of the other Spiders from the Vault were actually very good.

I might be biased as I am a big original (pre-Brand New Day) Peter Parker fan, but I did not enjoy this book especially as do much of the story is left out. The book finishes with a cover gallery containing thumbnails version of the varient covers.

Second verse, just like the first, but a little bit louder and a little bit worse.

Fundamentally, Spider-Geddon is a repeat of Spider-Verse, but with a less talented writer at the helm. The Spiders fight the Inheritors: it's a bit of yawn, because there's not much new. Worse, the characterization is relatively shallow, and there's just not a lot of interest other than the killing of a few Spiders which are all written shockingly non-dramatically.

But the real problem with this book is that it's just a fraction of the story. There are storylines in Spider-Girls and Spider-Force and (to a lesser extent) Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man that are crucial to the Spider-Geddon plotline, and they're just confusingly dropped on us because the issues aren't included.

And what is included? The two issues of Vault of Spiders, which are fairly dull introductions of yet more Spiders, not nearly as good as the Edge of Spider-Geddon stories that preceded this series.

If this story was collected right, with the appropriate crossovers, in order, it might be mediocre. Like this, it's just problematic.

It's a decent enough crossover, but so much of the story gets left out, presumably to force you to buy all the graphic novels that have the tie-in issues they didn't include.

Wanted to read Spider-Gwen, volume 1, but turns out most of it was part of an event, the titular Spider-Geddon, so here we are! This volume mostly collects the main action of the series, however, it's very incomplete without some other volumes, so I'd recommend also reading Spider-Gwen, volume 1, The Spectacular Spider-man, volume 5, Spider-Geddon: Covert Ops, and Spider-Geddon: Edge of Spider-Geddon. Look up a reading order, and then dive in. And let's be honest, unless you're completely up on all of your spider-lore, you'll probably still be a bit confused. Like me. It's just a lot to keep track of, okay.

Still, I did find this to be an entertaining read. I liked the team-up of all the different spiders, and the way that so many of them got to have a voice and show their strengths. My knowledge of Spider-man pretty much dies with the movies featuring Tom Holland, along with the recent Into the Spiderverse, so this was a lot of new stuff for me. Inheritors? Never heard of them. Miscellaneous villains, kind of a crapshoot. And the story doesn't do a ton to keep you up-to-date. It does assume that you know the main players, although there's certainly a lot you can pick up through context. I will say that it made me want to dive into some more spider-stories, though we'll see how far I actually get with that. Too little time, too many comics, you know how it is.

Anyway, on top of the main Spider-Geddon storyline, this volume does contain a couple issues called the Vault of Spiders, which does some brief introductions of different spiders. These were hit or miss for me. Some were okay, some seemed a bit extraneous, to say the least. At least one just felt like the team was trying to spoof on something they'd never read before. Definitely a mixed bag, and brought my rating down. I'd give the main storyline a solid 3.5 stars, but as a collection, these intros were more in the 2-2.5 star range. Just too brief and too disjointed for me.

Quite a stinker. Nothing really happens. Well drawn panels of tons of fun spider characters swing around and tell you about impending doom that is happening off panel. Some stuff makes no sense without the tie-ins. The main bad guy never really poses a threat and the whole thing is wrapped up nicely in a flash. Was this all one big excuse to cancel Renew Your Vows? If so, it did not even do that with any sense of reason or closure.
The only redeeming quality is the art and all the nice panels of spider-ham you can cut out and hang on your wall.

What a letdown of a crossover event and a Spider-Man book. After coming out of watching Spider-Man Into the Spiderverse and Far From Home which were both amazing films I wanted more Spidey action...

So this a sequel to the Spider-Verse book, uniting Spideys from different parallel universes. It had a lot of potential to be good. The artwork for the main story is probably the highlight for me.

The story itself follows the inheritors who were in the aforementioned Spidey crossover book as they hunt down and try to kill different versions of Spidey.

Now onto my downsides for this book. Unfortunately there are quite a few moments where you come across parts that state “to see what happens here read this issue”... which then isn’t included in this collection. Those parts also seem quite important for what happens by the end of the book. I also don’t get not including them, as the second part of the book is the Vault of Spiders - a bunch of stories following different alternate spideys.

Those Vault of Spiders stories are also a massive mixed bag. They all feel too short. Some of the good ones for me were Savage Spider-Man and Spiders-Man. But they needed more fleshing out.

A couple highlights for me were the inclusion of some of my favourite iterations of the character including Superior, Miles Morales and PS4 Game Spider-Man. Another slight downside for this book was the lack of original Peter Parker Spider-Man, again it’s a moment where the book tells you to read what he’s up to and how it ties into this story.

In summary a disappointing event that I would find hard to recommend unless you are a big Spider-Man fan. Maybe if I reread this once I’ve read some of the tie in books it may increase the rating. It’s a shame as not all event book require you to read the tie ins to enjoy the main event.

With the original Spider-verse crossover event being so amazing it inspired Sony to make their groundbreaking animated movie, this follow-up is just a little bit more tepid with the shades of Civil War between the Spider-folks being more the conflict than against the vampires.

On one side, we have Miles Morales & his team of do-gooders who would rather contain the spider-suckers (ok that sounds wrong) this time in a better way than they could just bust out again to terrorize the multiverse.
On the other side, we have the Superior Spider-man, Doc Ock in Pete's body, and his team of more lethal protectors who is all for going Buffy on their asses and obliterating them so that they won't be able to menace the multiverse ever again.

And because of course this wouldn't have ALL the relevant tie-ins, we hear about some exploits by some Spider-heroes, and for others, we just see aftermath of events. BUT FUNNILY ENOUGH, the editors thought there was enough space for some back issues explaining the origins of some of the Spidey-variants, showing off some more batty versions & some more terrifying.

And honestly, it only ranks as high as I've made it because there's a buncha focus on the Spidey-family from the "Renew your Vows" continuity AND a good chunk of focus on SUPAIDAMAN & his giant robo.

Simply put, this wasn't good. Ill-conceived story, redundant story-telling, editorial malpractice, and more make this a hard pass. Christos Gage revisits Dan Slott's inventive Spider-verse and its lazy. It rehashes nearly the same story but with worse ideas. Superior Octopus takes a leadership role and this Otto is always a treat. The story collected here is also about a third of the overall storyline. The footnotes here are...extensive. Jorge Molina provided most the art and it was well done. Overall, this is not something that should have been done and reading it will reinforce that.

What do you do when you have a successful crossover (Spider-Verse that inspired a hit movie? You duplicate it and double everything about it!

Spider-Geddon is the sequel. The threat is basically the same although this chapter doesn't have the dark feel to it like Spider-Verse did. This time around there are also more AND different versions of Spider-Man. Another point taken away: Peter Parker of 616 isn't the star of this story.

While the resolution was a good one, all the issues leading up to it just give you more of the same: recruiting different members of the Spider-Army, bickering among some of the members, and fight scenes which weren't always necessary (i.e. page fillers). The art is solid, but other than resolving the problem of the Inheritors, it's a lot of flash without substance.

I really loved SpiderVerse in 2014 and upon hearing a sequel featuring all the same wacky Spider-People from before as well as a bunch of new ones I was ecstatic, sadly this comic is a shadow of it's predecessor. The plot is stupid as hell, even by comic standards, with some extreme stupidity on the part of the Spiders and Doc Ock as well as some extreme plot convenience being the only thing that allows the inheritors to escape their radioactive prison. This would be forgiven if it wasn't for the fact that all the various Spiders, who were for me the highlight of the previous event, are all bland and forgettable each near identical and interchangeable, which is a huge departure from the vast array of differing and intricate personalities which filled the last crossover. I was extremely disappointed by Spider-Geddon and if it wasn't for some decent artwork this would be close to the worst Spider-Man comic I've ever read. Oh and the decision to not have 616 Peter Parker in most of the main comic was stupid as hell.

Very enjoyable! Multiverse Spider-people are always fun to see in action, though I hope the next one will try to dive into something other than Inheritors. I believe I’ve never finished a complete event before including all the tie-ins, so I’m glad I was finally interested enough to do so here. The ending issues feel a bit anticlimactic as usual in these large events, but the overall spirit remains. After all, we aren’t REALLY reading these things as if they are some crazy action thriller pieces — we’re just satisfying our Spider itch (ew).
