Wadee is a warthog who loves to frolic and play with his friends . Every night, as the shadow of darkness creeps across the South African savannah, he curls up with his family and falls asleep. His gentle slumber is disrupted as he imagines horrible things happening to everyone he knows. Then one night, he has a special visitor in his dream. Can Wadee finally overcome the worry that consumes him?
After successfully completing a Master of Science degree in Audiology, I spent 23 years working as a clinical audiologist in different parts of Canada, Kuwait, England and Saudi Arabia. In 2015, I completed a Master of Education degree and am now the English Language Learners coordinator at the American School of Yaounde in Yaounde, Cameroon. I love working with children, whether it be through helping them to hear or through helping them to become proficient at reading, writing, and speaking English. I have been blessed to have had two very rewarding careers. In my spare time, I love to bake, travel, and write children's books. I get my inspiration for my stories from my own life experiences, people I meet, children I work with, and the very special furry friends I hold dear in my heart.
Wadee the Warthog can’t sleep because he has the worry wakes. He worries about his friend the zebra losing his stripes, the anteater getting his head stuck in an anthill, pesty mosquitos spreading malaria, teasing, and a host of other troubles that come to him in his dreams. Each morning when he wakes, everything is fine. Finally, the gray parrot shares an old African proverb: “When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.”
A lovely story for children who worry by day or night. The illustrations of the African animals are bright and colorful. Recommended for young school age children.
