Fiona, on a honeymoon for dumped brides in Scotland by herself, stumbles back 680 years almost into the arms of a future laird, who thinks he can use this stranger for a ruse to avoid marriage to a woman he dislikes. Something like that. What a stupid setup for a romance, plus this ridiculous insta-love ... *wow*

And yet - Stella Knight pulled it of. Despite a few times I had to roll my eyes I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story. The drama was not squeezed to the limit, there was no tiresome outcry "virgin, virgin (or not)", the male protagonist was very lovable if not a tad soft for the times, and the female protagonist not overly arrow-headed.

Narration: 3rd person female protagonist’s and male protagonist's POV alternating
Sexual content: couple of scenes very descriptive but not overly long, 2 to 3 pages each
Setting: contemporary Scotland and 1340 Scottish Highlands

Disappointed...

I hate to write negative reviews because I know how hard it is to write, but this was not a good book.
I was excited to find a Scottish time travel book, as I am a huge fan of Outlander, but this book failed in too many ways. The story jumped all over the place and many of the sub plots were simply unrealistic as were a lot of the information of a 1300 time period.
However, what I had the most trouble with was the editing, or lack thereof. I do not believe this book could have been edited before it was published, there were so many grammatical errors, word echoes, and then the random use of "big" words that didn't fit the characters.
Needless to say, I was disappointed and probably will not read another from this author.

What a great read! If I ever travel back in time, I would like nothing better than to wind up being "married" to a Highlander like Eadan Macleay. Highlanders with integrity, heart, and passion are definitely worth reading about. They also seem to be gorgeous and ripped, so having one ask you to act as his bride for a few days can't be all bad, right? Stella Knight presents a beautifully written story with characters you want to get to know better.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

Eadan's Vow is the first installment in the Highlander Fate Scottish time travel romance series. It is your typical story you would find in this genre. Woman (Fiona) finds herself inexplicably traveling back to the time of the Highlanders and running in to a gorgeous Scot (Eadan) who she has to help out of a predicament which leads to them falling in love. This one wasn't nearly as saturated in sex and had a bit more plot than I've seen in other similar books. There was a struggle between clans that drove decisions made by the characters. Secret plots are uncovered. A couple of pretty good cat fights are featured between Fiona and the woman Eadan was to be wed to through an arranged marriage. I found myself wanting more development of the relationship between Eadan and Fiona. It was a bit too fast for me. The writing was an enjoyable pace. Good summer read.

This is a captivating, dramatic and romantic story. Eaden is serious, dutiful and likable. Fiona is kind, brave and determined. Fiona goes to Scotland to regroup after breaking up with her fiancee, and suddenly finds herself thrown back in time, and embroiled in a clan war. Eadan, as Laird, decides to question her after she is discovered in the castle. Only he can't concentrate on the interrogation, he's distracted by the pull he feels towards her. Fiona's confused by her feelings for the man who threatens her, and the atmosphere around her. The war between the clans, and the betrayal of the servants, unite Eadan and Fiona. And the more time they spend together, the more they want each other. Intrigue and betrayal surround them while attraction blooms between them. It's a great time travel story and I can't wait to read the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Exclusive ARC. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait for the next in the series. Great story, great characters and very well written. The "back in time" isn't very unique, but Stella does a good job of putting a twist on the how and why. Eadan and Fiona are placed in each other's path, but why?
I received an Exclusive ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review.

More than I expected!

You never know what your getting into with a book that has no reviews.. at least for someone like me that relies heavily on them. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Sure, it contains the same prose as every other time travel story- girl magically ends up in the past and thinks she’s in some sort of medieval re-enactment, danger abounds, and then she falls in love with hero- but it was enjoyable! The characters were likable and the hero was endearing. I do wish it was longer.. which I guess is a telling thing in and of itself. I have preordered the next in the series.

Slim outline.....no filler.

Jilted woman goes on honeymoon alone. Swept into past following a strange woman she’s seen at various places. Meets guy. He decides to pretend she’s his wife to stall another marriage he’s suspicious of....minimal empty dialog about solving mystery, sex, missing servants, poisoning of father.....mystery solves itself. She (orphan with no family) decides to stay in past. Sends letter thru portal to one friend.....I guess she’ll show up next.
Hard pass if you enjoy a plausible evolution of a relationship, details of a strange new environment/time, descriptives, dialogue or dimensional storytelling.
So many opportunities to flesh out the characters and the premise not taken. ☹️

Very good book, easy to read and had awesome characters. There's a predictable plot and felt like there were holes, but overall it kept me interested. I read it in one sitting, and I'm giving a 5 star review because not many books make me want to continue with a series, but I went ahead and purchased the rest so I may continue reading them. I also signed up for the newsletter to get the prequel!

Ok time travel story with enough intrigue to keep me reading. It was a definite case of insta-love though, and the people from the past spoke with modern-day phrasing, only adding in the odd "ken" and "tae" etc. to add a bit of Scottish flavour.

The book contains descriptive love scenes.

I love me a good time traveling highlander romance - and this was eh.

Very little plot, which was disappointing. The romance was so quick and unbelievable as well, which was also disappointing.

I wouldn't bother with any more of them.

This is an OK Scottish time-travel romance, and an OK start to The Highlander Fate series. It was entertaining, but it was just too short to have enough character development. I wanted more backstory on both Eadan and Fiona, but especially on Eadan.

I liked both Eadan and Fiona, but I wanted them to communicate better. Most of their issues were caused by a lack of communication, brought on partly by a fear of sharing their true selves. I liked that some of the supporting characters helped them get past that, and learn to talk to each other.

One thing that bothered me about this book is the historical mistakes. The men all wear kilts in 1390 Scotland, but they didn't actually start wearing kilts in Scotland until the 16th century. The characters also ride in carriages, which wasn't done in that time period, because the roads were too bad. Everyone rode horses, or traveled in small carts like farmers used -- carriages had not even been invented yet. I suspect the author may have included those two things because of popular movies (like Braveheart) -- but it isn't correct, just because Hollywood does it.

This one get 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Absolutely loved this book, so much so that I quickly purchased and read the rest of this series and am anxiously awaiting the next book. The way Eliza describes the time travel experience, you can actually believe it happening. After all, there are many unexplained situations in our world so why not “ time travel”. Add in the mystical quality of Scotland and you can actually see yourself in Fiona’s place. Not sure if I could adjust to the to the difference s in the times as well as Fiona but if you’re falling hard for a man like Eadan, I would certainly try. For that matter, how many of us have adjusted the way we live to keep someone special a part of our life? I’d recommend this book to anyone who believes in love and the impossible w a touch of magic . I’ve been to Scotland, and believe me, I could believe almost anything is possible which keeps us dreaming of our chance to find happiness by finding ourselves in another time.

Falling back into time...

This quick sweet read recieved a 4 cups of hot java, ☕☕☕☕.

It started with the lure of a mysterious character to pull you into the story from the very beginning, that takes Fiona back into time in the Scottish Highlands to fall in love with a Scottish soon-to-be laird chieftain of his clan. Some sweet lovings interspersed with spies, murders, and betrayals from a rivaling clan and his betrothed to be, Madgaidh. With the tensions running high in the highlands between feudal clans, truths comes out that ends the feud with swift justices which finally bands the clans for good as the son of chief claims Fiona as true bride that cements the future of the clans.

In this story, there is intrigue, murder, and a lot of hatred from the other clan, (Acheson). Dughall was the Laird there, he wanted the Macleay lands and would do anything to get them. Fiona was from the twenty-first century and had come to 1390. Eadan, the Laird for the Macleay, He did not want to marry Dughall's daughter. The characters were authentic-seeming, and generous. The tale was twisted but well written, even paced and definitely moves smoothly. I loved that she painted and he took care of everyone else. It was an enjoyable read, I can't wait for her next book.

Deja vu

After Fiona calls off her wedding, her best friend Isabelle talks her into turning her honeymoon plans into a single holiday for herself. So Fiona goes to Scotland on her own to paint.
In a museum Fiona sees a painting that has her mesmerized and a feeling of deja vu.
Come along with Fiona as she visits an old village in decay in her time and ended up in a cellar in a Scotland manor in the year 1390. She meets the Laird of the manor named Eadan Macleay and then the sparks fly. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I loved this story of Eadan and Fiona. Their characters reacted in ways that were realistic and, within the confines of time travel, believable. Fiona's struggles to understand her displacement but her willingness to embrace her fate, were both heartrending and poignant. Eadan's struggles showed his honour and character, as befitting a highland laird but striking a bargain with Fiona allowed him to show his vulnerability and become more rounded and open to his emotions. There was enough suspense in the story to keep it flowing.

I am quite new to reading time travel romance and it struck me that you can get away with anachronisms in this genre without it grating. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I liked the hero, the heroine and the plot and read it in one sitting. The novel had an honourable hero and wicked adversary to give the plot momentum and it kept me entertained.

I would be happy to read the sequel but I have a personal spend limit of £3.00 for a kindle book so will not be indulging, but fair do's - I do not understand the one-star ratings.

This entertaining, although somewhat fantastical Scottish time travel adventure, was an easy read, however based more in imagination than facts. Once again , as with all time travel adventures, Fiona suddenly and unexpectedly finds herself back in 1390 Scotland, immediately meeting the handsome but betrothed laird who is marrying not for love but for peace between the clans. Yet, truth is sought, and power remains the true reason. However, Fiona captures Eadon"s heart and complications arise. For fans of time-traveler readers who enjoy repetitive scenarios of adventures and romance.....

This is a simple and sweet, low angst time travel romance with a tender and protective hero who is a Scottish laird. Where do I sign up? 😂 if you are looking for a light read with a low angst couple (I don’t know about you, but I really want that in a read sometimes), then give this one a go! More heartwarming and a fun distraction than deep or complex with a fun set up for another character to get a love story in the next book in the series. ☺️ Relax into a sweet, time swept romance and, if you like this one, there is more to the series! 💕

Better to read than listen to this one. The Audible narrator was a bit over-dramatic for me and took away from the story. Sad because it’s a good plot with interesting characters that lay the foundation for the future books. There are also several inconsistencies with the era. For example, I found it unrealistic that some of the workers couldn’t afford to pay for health care for their family members. The hero called her his “Siren” which I don’t believe was a word used back then. In my opinion the author wrote it in line with today’s culture rather than its historical context.
