As a second generation repairman he doesn't understand why Christmas is so important to everyone. You put up a tree, buy some gift cards and order a pre-made turkey dinner from the grocery store, which leaves plenty of time for service calls in between. What more does he need to do?
A lot if he's to win over his Christmas-loving in-laws.
Enter Ruby Caldwell, owner of Santa School and trainer of "professional" Santas. Now that she's been laid off from her day job, she needs to take Santa School from a part-time seasonal hobby to a full-time year-round operation. That requires a positive mindset, along with a healthy dose of creativity. Step one: Elf School to train single dads like Dominick to put on a great Christmas by themselves. All she needs are a few willing dads and a don't-quit smile.
With a challenge like Dominick, let's hope Ruby's smile holds out this holiday season.
Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

Will Dominick be able to fulfill his late wife's wishes? Santa School by Melinda Curtis was an excellent read that kept me guessing through the entire time. This story starts on Cyber Monday and ends on Christmas Eve. Ruby Caldwell Ruby Caldwell is the only daughter of her parents, and she has been okay with life. Her mom Norma is the owner of a sandwich shop there in town, and her dad was a great guy who loves holidays. Ruby owns an excellent little company called Holiday Cheer that she has been only working on when she has time off from the hospital. Well, now that she has been laid off from the hospital, she has to figure out if Holiday Cheer can keep her financially afloat for the rest of the year. And Ruby needs to not fall for her ex-best friend's widow. Dominick "Dom" Decker Dominick "Dom" Decker runs several air and heating places around Boston and snatched one up in Christmas Town. He has a seven-year-old daughter named Jessie who is so adorable. Jessie was the spitting image of her mother when she was seven years old. Dom isn't really into Christmas until he makes a bet with Ruby and now... You will have to read the book to find out. Dom is trying to fulfill his deceased wife's last wishes even though that is very hard to do, and some people make it hard for him to accomplish. Five Stars Santa School by Melinda Curtis is a fantastical book that is entirely worth five stars. Ms. Curtis wowed me with her incredible cast of characters and the way that Ruby is. She's petite but so full of energy and holiday cheer that anyone would love Christmas after being around her. Dom seems like a great guy who is trying to raise his daughter and giving her the best life that he can at the moment.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Santa School by Melinda Curtis.

I loved Santa School. This story made me laugh as I watched Ruby teach her students at Santa School for Busy Elves and cry as she learned the secret that cost her her best friend. Melinda Curtis has outdone herself. Ruby is so full of the holiday spirit. She wants everyone to enjoy that special season with their love ones. Dom Decker has come to Christmas Town to follow his late wife, Mia's, last wishes. Plus he wants to give their daughter, Jessie, a very special Christmas. He's a good man, but he has secrets. As he struggles with Mia's family, he won't let that stop him. When he and Ruby fall for each other, love makes things more complicated. Can the ghosts of the past be put to rest so that the future is full of love and happiness? I cared for the characters, the heartfelt emotions and the setting. Santa School awoke my holiday spirit. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
Sweet and clean holiday cheer will keep you reading. Such deep, hurtful issues to deal with during the holidays but these two will melt your heart. And make you believe in Santa all over again. (Sorry if that was a spoiler.). 😌

⭐⭐⭐📙📚My Review 📙📚⭐⭐⭐
Wow what a page turner !!! Melinda Curtis has again written a beautiful, well written, thoughtful, engaging book about people you really care about. They are real, interesting, and complex. This is a wonderful book for Christmas or for any time of the year. I fell in love with this town and all the people in it. This story was beyond amazing! The characters are loveable and the plot is so inviting. It is A quick read & this story captures your attention right from the start and doesn’t let go. While you get to know the characters, the story imparts great reminders of just what is and is not important about life and family. Please read it, you will really think about life . This book is more than a Christmas story. It is about overcoming grief, finding a way to move forward, and coming together as a family. I really liked Santa School. It was Filled with laugh out loud scenes and a few sad moments. This story is true to life — there are plenty of people in this world struggling to make sense of missed opportunities, life-changing mistakes, and the need to connect with others. Hope you all enjoy it as much as i did . Merry Christmas and Happy New Year !

Dom Decker, along with his daughter Jessie, have recently moved to Christmas town. Mia's, Dom's wife that recently passed away, last request was for Dom to move to Christmas town. He's there to, hopefully right past wrongs and give Jessie the best Christmas she's ever had. While work takes up most of his time, Dom is determined to find a balance. While looking at a building for his business, Dom runs into Ruby. Ruby runs Santa School out of the same building and didn't realize she was losing her place to Dom. So they make a bet....If Ruby can teach Dom how to give Jessie the best Christmas EVER, she gets to keep the spot rent free. If not, Dom wins the spot.
Although he's reluctant, Dom can't resist Ruby's spirit. Ruby, recently laid off from her job, is trying to build Santa School into a viable business. Ruby knows if she can transform Dom into a Christmas-loving person, she can help others-maybe even expanding to other holidays. While spending time with Jessie and Dom, she begins to fall for him. But secrets can be devastating. Can they see past the secrets to find their silver lining?
Heartwarming, inspirational, and Christmasy! I loved Ruby's tactics when teaching a bunch of hopeless men! Hilarious! The cute, nosey elderly ladies were such busybodies! I absolutely LOVED the "Barbie" ending! Secrets can be devasting, but forgiveness is absolute! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
Heartwarming, humorous and oh so sweet! With a second-chance-at-love story, Melinda Curtis brings us the story of Dom, the guy who's working to get the heat back up and running in the Carousel House while he stumbles through giving his daughter their first Christmas without his wife. I enjoyed their story, and Ruby brought a new depth out in him that made him very connectable.
The last promise Dominick Decker made to his late wife was that he would move to her hometown of Christmas Town, Maine with their daughter. He's settling in well with the heating and air company that he bought, but he's not doing the best job of winning over his in-laws. They're a bit over-the-top in their holiday cheer .. but then again, so is the rest of this town! He knows Jessie deserves the best, but is working hard to provide for her really such a bad thing?
Ruby Caldwell just got laid off from her job at the hospital, so she needs to seriously get busy figuring out a way to turn her seasonal Santa School business into something that will provide a livable income the entire year! When she has a run in with Dom that has them placing a bet on whether she can bring the Christmas spirit into his heart by having him attend the class she has going on to train single dad's like himself how to bring their child a magical Christmas!
What a cool concept for a story! A school that teaches the ins and outs of Christmas. How to do everything! And a scrooge to prove the miracle of Christmas.
Ruby has a knack with people. And making them feel special. But she's losing her job and needs to make a go of Santa school. But how to make it her only income??
Dom is back as a promise to his dead wife. Make amends with all she has hurt and let them know she loved them. Especially her best friend Ruby. And when Dom meets her he sees why she's so loveable. There's just something about her that he can't get out of his head. And his daughter loves her too.
So as a bet he agrees to come to her Santa school. If he wins and doesn't feel any different about Christmas then she'll give up the space without a fight. But if she wins then he pays her lease for the next year. Sounds like easy money for him. But things don't always go as they seem. And Ruby's charm and happiness of the holidays is infections and soon he is creating memories for his daughter. And hopefully they will include Ruby for much much longer!
Santa School is a seasonal school to help people become more Santa like. Ruby Caldwell owner finds herself needing to make her once part time school into a yearly business when she has been laid off from her a day job. She decides to branch off and help single dads cope with Christmas by starting Elf School. The guys will learn the basics of trimming a tree to hosting their own Christmas party.
Widower Dominick Decker needs help as he recently moved back with his daughter as he tries to make peace with his in laws so they won’t fight him for custody. He just a repair man who does not understand the importance of Christmas and the fuss people make of it like his in laws.
He finds himself taking the Elf classes and in doing so falling for Ruby. But Dominick also has a secret that he has been keeping which might change their ever growing feelings. Nothing like Christmas and falling in love.
Ruby is having about the worst luck a girl could have. She has been told after the beginning of the year her position will be cut. Living in Christmas Town she is trying to help people see Christmas as a happy time and joyous time. Dom is not a Merry Christmas kind of guy. He has lost his wife and is trying to make things right with her friends and family. They both have a lot of work ahead. Dom signs up for Ruby's class and it doesn't take him to long to fall for her. After the class is over and all is said and done he invites them all to a party. This party has so many different endings. Some will be happy and some not so much. Dom's wife has left letters for everybody trying to explain herself. In the end I think everybody got what they were looking for or needed. This book was given to me as a ARC for my honest review. Melinda I enjoyed reading this book and hope to read more of your material.
Ruby, Dom and the rest of the characters were great. Ruby's job is being downsized and she isn't sure what she will do. She will have to expand on her Santa school if she wants to eat. She will start with classes for men on how to put on a great Christmas. Dom's father-in-law hates him and is challenging his right to raise Jessie by himself. Dom has to put on a great Christmas so he can show them he is able to give his daughter what she needs. Jessie may not be Dom's biological daughter, but they love each other very much. Ruby can help him and maybe he can help Ruby. Ruby's family has some secrets and Dom's in laws are part of those secrets. He is afraid that Ruby will be very hurt when those secrets are exposed.
Solid 4.5 star Ruby is always channeling her Christmas spirit no matter how bad things get but things are at the point where she needs a Christmas miracle as not only has her hours at the hospital been cut but her job is gone in the new year so she needs Santa school and her Elf School to succeed. Throw in the mix a hot widower Dom who is looking to take over the premises she uses for her schools as well as struggle with being a single Dad hers in laws don't like him she has a challenge to not only win their bet she can show him how to enjoy Christmas but try not to fall for him too. You will fall in love with Ruby and Dom as they both learn more about each other, grow closer, deal with their own life hurdles as well as see how love can pop up at any time.
I really enjoyed this Christmas story by Melinda Curtis! It is perfect for getting in the Christmas spirit. Ruby Caldwell runs the local Santa School which she started three years ago in order to prepare men and women for jobs as seasonal Santas, but this year with losing her full time job she has more time to also help those who are struggling to plan and execute Christmas for their friends and family. Dom Decker is new to Christmas Town and struggling with being the owner of his own business, raising his daughter alone, getting along with his in-laws and planning a holiday that his daughter would really enjoy so taking Ruby up on her wager makes perfect sense.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
What a wonderfully Christmasy cover! This book is part of the 12 Days of Heartwarming Christmas series. A fun story of starting over.
Ruby has lost her job just in time for the holidays. She also had a seasonal job of training professional Santas. Someone she must extend this to a more permanent job to replace the job she lost.
Dominick and his daughter have just lost their wife and mother. They move to her hometown and try to start their lives there.
This is a sweet book and a fun book to read to set you in the Christmas spirit! Hope I can read a few more of this holiday series!
I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.
Santa School is full of a lot of fun with Ruby teaching a class on teaching men without a clue how to brighten up the holidays with decorations, gift giving, etc. The men that took the classes were pretty skeptical at first, but it turned out to be a blast. With secrets that the reader is not aware of at first, this Christmas Town story is Ruby and Dom’s. I really enjoyed it. Dom’s secrets came as a big surprise and affected their blooming relationship. Ruby’s own family had kept secrets from her. It was wonderful how these two find each other and work out tough histories of their pasts. It was heartwarming. [I received an early copy from the author and my opinion is my own.]
A heartwarming and heartbreaking book. A widower and father. Dominick Decker moved to Christmas town and now was running Jack Frost Heating & Air. Ruby Caldwell was in charge of the Elf School. She challenges him that she can give him holiday spirit, and if she does then she can keep her space. If not then the space was his. He agrees, and as they shook something passed through them. She wasn’t sure he felt it. She had to get out of there. She was friends well if you could call it that with his wife who passed away. He had a daughter.
Buy and see what happens. It will warm your heart. So much more to come.
A story filled with fun, cheer and laughter as one man must learn to live without his wife why raising his daughter. He looks so hard for a way to keep her with him and make his in laws go away. Ruby is something else as she tries to build her business teach men how to be a Santa. It was a cute fun read that kept be chuckling. I did have a hard time getting into the story for me it moved a little slow.
It’s fun, sweet and heartwarming story. A great second chance at love with the magic of Christmas. This story has all the feels that will pull at your heartstrings. A great storyline with characters you will fall in love with as they spin their joyful spirits. It’s an entertaining and magical story.
"Santa School: 12 Days of Heartwarming Christmas" (The Christmas Carousel Book 3) by Melinda Curtis is an entertaining read. I enjoyed Ruby and Dominick's story. This is a great Christmas story, with entertaining characters, romance, small-town life, second chances, and more. Highly recommend to all fans or Christmas, small-town stories, and second chances.
What a really neat idea: a Santa scool!! I love that! Dom and Ruby are like fire and ice when they first meet, but I love how quickly that changes...especially for Dom. It's amazing that even 20+ years later how secrets were still destroying lives. My favorite part is that there is a Joyful Lane!!!
Great heartwarming story. Santa School for Busy Elves was quite funny at times. Sweet and clean story. Dom and his daughter have recently moved to town after the death of his wife, who used to be a friend of Ruby's. Dom is trying to give his daughter the best Christmas she's ever had and hopes to right past wrongs with Ruby and his wife's parents. Interesting characters.
What a wonderful book that gave me so many new Christmas ideas to do while enjoying this very unique second chance romance. Ruby and Dom might not be connected directly but she is connected to him via his wife who has passed in. Mia was her best friend until Christmas if fourth grade. Ruby runs the Santa school and Dom is well anything but... And he has a daughter Jessie so he needs to attend . This book is well written, clean romance that reads like a Hallmark movie. I really enjoyed it.
