Tension is high at the Defiance MC with the Yakuzu an even bigger threat now they know the leaders true identity. Sensei is on high alert, bringing his family to the clubhouse for safety as he waits out his father’s next move.

Ayla’s not backwards about coming forward, she rough, tough and sassy as hell and the perfect Yin to Sensei’s Yang. Their connection is immediate and their chemistry is off the charts but with the dangers of the Yakuza surrounding the club and his family, Sensei must remain focussed.
Will Ayla get in the way, just be another distraction, another person he would need to protect?

MY THOUGHTS: I friggin loved this book! I read Ayla and Sensei first interactions with a big smile, I literally was grinning from ear to ear. I loved their back and forth flirting. With Ayla’s smart mouth and sensei’s serious and uptight demeanour, it made for some entertaining and humorous dialogue.
Sensei is such an original and intriguing character, I really enjoyed hearing about his origin and cultural aspects throughout the story. He’s Dominant, disciplined and so delicious.
Ayla is smart, sassy and such a big personality, I really loved her character, she really was the light to Sensei’s dark, they complimented each other perfectly.
KE Osborn's writing talent has you feeling every motion, from a heavy sigh or sharp intake of a breath to vibrating bullets and thick tension. You can hear the roaring of motorbike engines and smell the leather through her vivid and authentic descriptions.
Penance really has a bit of everything, action, suspense, danger, love, hot kinky sex and of course MC madness and it get 5 Blushing stars from me. I can’t wait till the next instalment in the series.

This story had so many moments throughout the story that made me laugh out loud.I love that in a story.
I loved the story from cover to cover. Ayla/Spanner she was the perfect match for Sensei in every way. I loved how easy and fun their courtship was.I loved how Spanner was the instigator of their so called courtship. (LOL) her antics were priceless!
I loved seeing Sensei struggle with his emotions just in the fact that he was such a control freak and that he never had the upper hand when dealing with Spanner and their relationship.
The story was really funny, super suspenseful and had so much going on in the club at the time that it kept you engrossed in the pages.
Favorite character would be Spanner. Ayla/spanner just made me laugh the entire story. Not only was Spanner tough as nails and that she had an amazing personality but, she also had those little insecurities all women have. (to me this showed us the softer side of her personality)
I loved Spanner and Sensei and the relationships they had with their families.Loved their Super Hot Sexy Scenes! I also loved more that one of those OMG! moments throughout the story. LOL
Some favorite quotes
“Thank you, Father. You have taught me well.” My father steps up to me and places his hand on my shoulder supportively. “Your training has come a long way, but you still have much to learn. You are young, only sixteen, but with me guiding you, teaching you, you can master anything.”“I know, Father. You are the best trainer… I am grateful to have you.”
“Why do they call you Spanner?” She snorts rolling her eyes like she’s had to tell this story a thousand times. “So I’m pretty sure you know Smokin’ Joe’s all Australian. Back in the land down under they call wrenches, spanners.
She looks at me with a smirk. “It’s fuc***. Scopata. Baisée. Gefickt. Jodido. Körd… comprende?” Hearing her say fuc*** in five different languages with such fluidity and ease has my body working overtime keeping itself together. This woman might look like a firecracker, a tough nut who only works as a mechanic and knows nothing other than engines, but I can tell just from that little display, she’s smart despite what her looks tell me about her.
“My baby’s gonna be recycled?” He groans but slowly nods his head. “I guess it’s like her being a fucking organ donor.”
“So… your real name is Raiden?” He nods. “Hmm… Japanese God of Thunder and Lightning, it suits you.”
“Getting to this point has been fuc**** rough, but you make it all worth it. Raiden… I know it’s quick, but… I love you.”
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I am loving this series as well.
I did get to have an early read of Penance and time has gotten a little ahead of me, so here is my review.
I knew I was going to love Sensei in Resistance (book 1). I even told Ms. Osborn that he was mine. Mwah ha ha ha ha haaaa.
It's okay. I can share.
Then I learned his book was next.
Giddy up!
Ayla and Sensei are so good together. I love them as a couple. I may be a little jealous of Ayla, but alas I can admit I'm too much cougar for Sensei. ;)
Ayla is a gorgeous character working in a man's world and I love her for it. She has spunk and a witty nature.
I thought Penance was even better than Resistance. Probably because of my—I mean—our Sensei.
KE brings all the good things we love in an MC romance: action, sexy times, alpha characters, villains, betrayal, trust and ultimately the happily-ever-after.
Sensei and Ayla's journey was great! Sensei was always cool, calm and collected when we met him in the first story and now we get to know more about him. I loved meeting his family and learning more about why he was the way he was. Ayla is his opposite, she is fierce and a tomboy. There was plenty of action and enough romance. I can't wait to see more of the Defiance MC and its members.
Wow! 💖 This story was wonderful. I absolutely loved Sensei and Spanner. Two opposite worlds collide in this hot romance. The banter between character is outrageous funny. 💖💖💖💖💖
What was I thinking waiting this long to read this amazing series? The more I read, the better it keeps getting. There’s a war waging on between the Defiance MC & the Yakuza. Loved Sensei and Ayla’s story. So much action and nail biting intense. Can’t wait for #3.
This book had me turning pages so fast, my heart pumping and at times it was because of the steamy connection between Sensei/Raiden and Sass/Ayla and other times it was because of the intense things going on, which I won’t mention too much because I don’t want to give too much away.
Sensei and Sass are complete opposites, and that confuses him in a way. Because their connection is very strong. He longs for her when she’s not around, and when she is they can’t keep their hands off each other. Sass has a very bold personality, she just says it like it is and doesn’t take slack from anyone. And like Sensei says, she talks like a teenage boy. You can see how she got the name Sass. But she grew up without a mother, and two younger brothers to torment her. She works in her father’s Auto Repair Garage with all men and has had to learn to stand her ground. I love Sass!!! She is a great character!!! But Sensei doesn’t know what to make of her, but he’s drawn to her.
But with the Yakuza around, and his family hiding out at the club, he has got to stay focused. But no matter how hard he tries, it all comes back to Sass!!
Once again, we see the beauty of the brotherhood in this book. I love how well K E Osborn portrays this. How tight that bond really is, and how they are willing to die for each other. Plus we get a hint at who the next book will be about!! I can’t wait!!
I LOVED this book!!!! Between the love story and steaminess, and the level of action/adventure!! The book totally ROCKS!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
This is the second book in the series and oh HOLY HELL it was off the chain! I mean I could not put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen next. And let me tell you I was not disappointed. Penance had it all in it from betrayal, trust, crazy arse action, and yes the ultimate bad guys.
We get to meet Sensei and boy oh boy I loved him in Resistance but he really won my heart in Penance. We finally get the story behind why he is the way he is. I mean he is quiet and reserved and stays out of trouble. He never brings attention to himself so I wondered why and we get the answers in this book.
Sensei is hiding in plain sight from the Japanese Yakuza. The club is Waring with them over territory and what they try to do to the club is crazy but the brothers all stick together and fight the Yakuza. But Sensei family is hiding from the Yakuza because they want to kill them and Sensei is determined to protect his family by any means necessary. But then Sensei is thrown a monkey wrench in the way of a sassy spit fire girl Ayla and boy is she good for Sensei. She is a storm and he is the calm in the storm. They balance each other out and help each other out while the club is fighting the Yakuza.
Sensei is surrounded by drama - his family is hiding from the Japanese Yakuza (an organisation who wants to buy and control everything), his club is at war with them (they want to control Chicago and push everyone else out) and then he meets a woman called Spanner who is the shining light in his world (even though now isn't really the time). She is the complete opposite of him but it's like he is an addict and cannot stay away. You would think it would never work but in a bizarre way they compliment each other completely. Can everyone survive when it seems to all relate to what happened in the past because bloodshed is definitely coming - it's just a case of who is going to pay penance for the sins of the past?
This was a story full of drama, danger and passion. It was lovely to see more of the human side of these MC members that seem to always be there breaking the stereotypes we all have in our heads. It was also great to realise that Sensei is not the robot that he seemed in the first book but is human, has feelings and his connection to Spanner should continue to soften his harder edges. Well written and easy to read and understand I loved the way the story developed from a more localised problem to something quite personal.
Diving back into the Chicago Defiance MC is full of intense drama. Sensei realizes that the new threat to the club may be because of him and his family which puts his whole family in danger. As they work to figure out how to handle the Yakuza, Sensei meets Spanner, an auto mechanic and is blown away by this sassy woman with incredible skill. Spanner, aka Ayla, is a great match for Sensei. He maintains this stoic exterior and she truly gets to him and helps him loosen up which lets us get to know him. Their chemistry is off the charts and they definitely know how to heat it up in the bedroom giving a great balance to the drama surrounding the club. I also enjoyed that we get to interact with all the club members, seeing how past couples are doing and learning more about other members and what may happen for them in the future which has provided a great world that I want to learn more about. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Awesome!! The first book was really good but this one was even better. So many twist and turns. What you think is going to happen may or may not be what happens. Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not. Loved the way the author kept me guessing. This is Sensei's book. We met the new people in town at the end of last book. The Yakuza. Not just any of the Yakuza families but one who his family knows. Ayla is the daughter of the mechanic the club uses. The one to take over the shop when her father can't run it anymore. Sensei calls her Sass because of her mouth. They have this lust at first sight but he isn't the only one who wants her. One thing I really liked was the message of it takes more than a sperm donor to be a father. A father is the one who loves you no matter what and teachers you life's lessons.
Penance by KE Osborn is the second book in The Chicago Defiance MC Series. While interconnected, every book can easily be read as a standalone. Anyway, I recommend to read the books in order. The previous book is Resistance.
Penance is Raiden and Sass´story. Raiden - Sensei - is member of The Chicago Defiance MC. His father is part of the Yakuza and he and his men are back in town and Sensei´s family is in grave danger. But to top it off, just at this time he meets his fate. In form of a sassy mechanic who doesn´t give a fig what they think of her. She´s mouthy , rude and knows what she wants.
Penance is part MC story, part romance with scorching hot scenes and part thriller. I was greatly entertained reading this fast paced story and give 4 stars.
Book 2 in this MC series, has you taking off where book one finished. But don't be discouraged if you haven't read the first one, you will still get what's going on, but I do recommend that you start at the beginning so you can the true sense of he storyline.
Sensei has a checked past, for a better lack of the word, but also a very honourable man who would stop at nothing to protect his family as well as his MC family. He is them thrown off kilter when he meets Spanner, the daughter of the clubs go to mechanic.
I loved the dynamics of Sensei and Spanner, their no bar holds on life. Plus the supporting characters help make the storyline what it is. If I was to point anything out, it would be that sometimes the characters, even though completely different, sound too similar when it comes to the way the author has them speaking to the reader.
But overall a fantastic read. I look forward to see where the author takes us next in this series.
When Sensi finds his family and his MC is in danger from a new group in town, the last thing he should be thinking about is the spitfire of a lady named Ayla. There is something about her that keeps him needing to be with her. While Sensi works with his MC to try and save his family and the MC he also works on figuring out his heart. This story was filled with plenty of action and romance. I enjoyed Ayla and her family. She is a strong willed woman who gives Sensi a run for his money. Together the sparks fly and their chemistry is off the charts! I enjoyed this next installment of the Defiance MC.
Penance is the second book in The Chicago Defiance MC series and this series just keeps getting better. Sensei is the guarded brother who prides himself on being calm and controlled. However when that control is disrupted by a past his family is hiding from, along with a sassy female mechanic that has his mind filled with thoughts of her, he will be put to the ultimate test. Their story is flirty, sexy, witty and full of the grit you crave in a MC romance. Penance will have you on the edge of your seat and loving the connection that Sensei and Spanner have. Strap on your helmet for the ride of your life because things are about to get steamy and action packed in a story that will keep you guessing right up until the end.
Sensei and Sass, what can I say but two opposites that fit in all the right ways. Sensei aka Rai or Raiden had me intrigued in the first book of the series, so much so that when I got my hands on this book I was as giddy as a little school girl. He has so many layers and facets he just draws you in with what he shows to the outside world and what goes on under that mask. Ayla aka Sass is loud, brash but has a softer side many don’t get to see. This book had me from page 1 and I really didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait to see what’s coming next in the series.
I was impress with the first book of this series but I think this one surpasses it. I really liked the characters, Ayla is a female in a mans world and pretty much can go toe to toe with them but still knows how to throw out the femininity and Sensei is just calm, centred with a rage that can come forward. They really are The yin and yang couple. Everything is going on in this book but it’s written well and is easy to read and I was grabbed from the first page. Looking forward to more in this series
KE IS BRILLIANT!!! Penance is Sensei and Ayla's story. He's the enforcer in the Defiance MC and she becomes their mechanic. Sparks fly when these two meet. Sensei wasn't expecting a beautiful, fiery redhead to show up when he called for a mechanic to salvage one of his brothers bikes. The chemistry is off the hook with these two. But once again, there's danger in Chicago. The Yakuza are taking over everything. The Defiance MC must join forces with the Italian mafia to defeat them. But can the Italians be trusted? Lives are at stake here. Who will pay the ultimate penance in the end? This is a fantastic series. I absolutely love KE's work.
This is the second book in this phenomenal series, and is Sensei and Ayla’s story. These two are total opposites, as Sensei is always so cool and collected, and Ayla is a feisty tomboy after bring brought up by her dad and two brothers. Ayla / Sass certainly keeps Sensei on his toes, and when the past comes back to haunt his family, will he be able to protect them all? No spoilers; this is a definite must read series, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written flawless story, which is filled with angst, action, secrets, danger, love and romance. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this series, which I highly recommend for all MC lovers.
Penance is the second book in The Chicago MC series.
Sensi's life is kind of all over the place. He learns that not only is his club in danger but his family as well. As if this is not enough to deal with, he meets a woman who consumes his every thought. He vows to protect his club, his family, and his new woman, but is that even possible?
The story that follows is filled with danger and violence, but it also has a sweet love story that you are sure to love!
Penance is book two of "The Chicago Defiance MC Series." This story has everything.....MC club, Italian Mafia and the Ishikawa Yakuza, making it a highly intense, action packed read full of plot twists. It also shows the love, family and brotherhood of a MC Club and the advantages and burdens that come by being a member or affiliated with one. I loved Sensei and Ayla's story. Each book in this series keeps getting better. 5 stars!
I really liked the first 60-75% of this book - and then it stopped being a romance and started to just read as MC - which is fine but it was strange. I really liked Raidan and Ayla - both were quick and witty and sexy but I wanted more of the pair of them instead of just one storyline. This was a surprisingly spicy/ kinky story but without turning into overt erotica. Definitely interested to see where the overarching story goes next!
EDIT: I think they might be one of my favorite couples in the series after seeing them in other books - plus who doesn't love a hot mechanic like Sass??
This was a tad bit better than the first hence the 5 star rating. Sensei was an intriguing character we were introduced to in the first book. He's quiet, polite but he's also an Enforcer for the club and had mad skills in torture, an Jujutsu expert. Ayla (Sass) is awesome - very spunky, takes no shit and can hold her own verbally. They are complete opposites - Yin/Yang. There is a lot of action in this one that involves the MC, Italian Mob & Japanese Yakuza. Very interesting end in the epilogue - we finally get Trax and Mylee's story and its a good thing because Trax was getting on my last nerve.
Oh my was I on a wild one with this one. Entering in I got into the characters right away with Sassy really being a good one. Her and Sensei make a great one with being along each part of this one that built exciting. The heat was as hot as a bike's pipe too. The drama kept you going back and forth with the rush carrying you along. Terrific climax that was a surprise too.
You will want to pick this up and read it. I thought it was better than the first book in the series it's a hot MC biker book that is not going to leave you disappointed. Sensie knows there is treat to his family and that also involves the club. can he find out who it is before it's to late? when he meets spanner the sparks and instant attraction is off the charts. I hope you will love this as much as I did.
"He needs a yang to his yin. I believe you will be the light for his dark."
Wow Wow Wow! KE Osborn this book is amazing! Amazon should let me give it ten stars.
This book is why I read MC and love it. It has darkness and light, grit and laughter. At one point it even made me squeamish. I love Resistance but Penance is amazing. Sensai is the talk, dark, brooding bad boy that all the girls fall in love with. Ayla is one tough chick, but also light and laughter. She is irresistible and I couldn't wait to find out about both of them. The story is so well written I was drawn in right from the start and couldn't pry myself away. The different characters and story lines are well developed with multiple layers and personalities and I loved them all. The story is so vivid that I could not help but think of colors the entire time I was reading it. Osborn covers every shade on the spectrum, from the darkest of black to the brightest of yellow. One of the biggest problems I had with Resistance was that I felt it was predictable and not very gritty. Osborn completely blew me out of the water with Sensai and Ayla. This story is a roller coaster and I spent most of my time upside down. I can't wait for Trax!
The men of Defiance MC! If you haven’t started this series you should! Full of twist, turns, & holy hell what now? Loving this group of men & the strong women who make their heads spin. Mc, Italian mob, & more all in one book
Not one for MC books, Osborn has me hooked. I love that you still see characters from book one as you meet new ones. Sensei’s story is great! Slight triggers. As always, a great mix of humor, heat and violence. The plot twist..didn’t see that coming!
