Ripley Jorgensen had believed the biggest shock in his life was developing shape-shifting powers, but that was nothing compared to learning that one of his teammates, the woman he loved, was a complete fraud. Not only did she steal someone’s identity, she may have committed murder.
Alisia had figured there was no better place to hide out than in a hidden mountain fortress surrounded by superheroes. Surely no one from her past would think to look for her there—that is, until her murderous father hired the Evolutioneers to find his missing daughter and blew her cover. Now she’s on the run with not only her former friends right on her tail, but also the man who has her scent embedded in his soul.
Ripley doesn’t just want answers. The beast within has determined that Alisia is its mate. Until he claims her as his own, the fight between man and animal grows stronger every day. And if she should refuse him? The man would be lost to the beast. Forever.

What an interesting concept. I read the first book, Genesis, in the Evolutioneers series as an ARC, when it came out. I had to strain a bit (And boy, did that hurt!) to remember the story. I remember Max and his struggles with being different, and that I really liked the book. Reading more about the extraordinary group of individuals that Max has gathered for his own "League of Justice" was amazing. Ripley is a shape-shifter. A most unique shape-shifter the added some interesting twists to the story. Alisia's back story was . . . Disturbing? Heart breaking? Horrendous? This woman survived some traumatic experiences that could have killed a lesser person. Their story, all by itself was pretty awesome. Add in the rest of the Evolutioneers, and this is a wonderful story.
When I read Genesis, I knew I wanted Ripley’s story, and it did not disappoint. I love it when the next story is as good or better that the last one. He’s got some powerful lessons to learn and Alisia is exactly the right person to teach them. These two are soulmates. The pull between them is strong and the reasons that tear them apart are larger-than-life and very emotional. I loved how this story started, how it progressed, and how it wrapped up. I’m definitely a fan.
The second book in The Evolutioneers series I want to read the first book, this is a well-written story that held my interest throughout. A book I would recommend. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I won this book in a GoodReads giveaway and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. I really enjoyed this story. I haven't read the book before this one and it isn't necessary. I loved this characters and drama. It's a fast paced book.
