Perfect, happy, “Jonah the Savior”, that’s how most people see Jonah Taylor. What they don’t always see is how incredibly overwhelmed he is with his new business or how lonely he is. When a painfully shy man enters his wellness center, all Jonah wants to do is help break him out of his shell. The problem is, the attraction he feels to the nervous, timid man is undeniable.
Cameron Vaughn has let most of his life be decided for him. A traumatic event from his past has caused him to doubt every decision he makes. When he’s forced into a new, anxiety-ridden situation, his first instinct is to run. So, what is it about the owner of the wellness center that has him questioning everything he’s ever been told?
Can one man convince the other he’s worth saving? Can the other realize he’s strong enough to save himself? Together, can they prove that what they’ve found is worth holding on to?
For one horrible moment around the 87% I thought I was going to be chucking my Kindle at the wall thanks to one of my most hated MM tropes.
I should have known better, sure in the knowledge that Jaclyn Quinn wouldn't do that to her guys and there'd be a clever way out of the narrative.
In this instance, it involved a last minute dash to the "scene of the crime", as it were, and a very public declaration of love which was brilliant.
I loved reading Jonah get his HEA, he's the nice guy. the steady, dependable ex boyfriend of Owen, friend to all and so very lonely.
Cameron almost broke my heart, so much had been taken from him through no fault of his own and his painfully shy nature only added to his sense of isolation.
I think Jaclyn handled both the historic trauma and Cameron's shyness and anxieties with exemplary care. Nothing felt like it was there for dramatic effect, the pacing is smooth and fairly gentle.
Another top read from Haven's Cove, bring on the next please which I'm hoping might be Elijah, Jonah's brother.
#ARC kindly provided by the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Jaclyn Quinn is one of those authors who grabbed my attention from the first book in this series and has held it throughout. I’ve enjoyed each book, but have to say that Hard to Hold is my favorite. It was hard not to love both the main characters as they worked through some tough obstacles to be together. Emotional, passionate, and beautifully told Hard to Hold was a joy to read.
There is so much to love about Jonah who so graciously moved aside to allow his then boyfriend to find the love of his life. Jonah is always there for his family and his close group of friends and they’ve helped him in many ways including getting his own gym and nutritional counseling center up and running. He is thrilled when Cameron, a man he worked with at his own gym comes in with a gift certificate, but Cam is shy and unsure leaving Jonah wondering if he should even pursue anything with him.
Ms. Quinn spent a lot of time getting these two characters comfortable with one another and it was warranted given Cameron’s background and the fact he was unsure of his sexuality. I loved that Jonah was patient, kind, and offered friendship because he was more than willing to have Cam in his life in any form. It said a lot that Cam opened up to Jonah and told him things he hadn’t told anyone else other than his therapist. Jonah letting Cam set the pace put him in the power position something he really needed in his life.
I loved every insightful talk, each sweet kiss, the all encompassing passion and of course all the well meaning yet intrusive family and friends. My one disappointment was an incident that could have affected by Cam and Jonah’s life that seemed contrived and unnecessary given everything else going on in Cameron’s life.
A sweet, sexy, and emotional romance, don’t miss Hard to Hold.
I LOVED Jonah's story - and I knew I would. Jonah has been a great character, first he was so understanding and perfect with the end of his relationship with Owen, then he was a great friend and believer in Gabe when others doubted how serious he was with Nate, and now it's finally time for him to get his own story.
I really loved Cameron and Jonah together, how Jonah was a great friend first and brought out Cameron's character and personality. Then when these two finally got more physical - wow, seriously great chemistry and so emotional.
I will say - lots of drama at the end, between Cameron's family, a female character and her family - and Jonah's increasing worry that he can't be someone else in Cameron's life thinking he's doing what is best for Jonah, when in reality it's Jonah himself that Cam needs to make his life complete.
Love this series, can't wait for the next book in the spin-off series!
POSIBLE TRIGGER: SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR “I'm sorry. I don't trust myself when I'm near you because I want so much more than you're ready to give. You may never be ready, and that's okay too. If you do decide to give us a chance though, I'm ready when you are. Maybe that will help you figure out what you truly want. In the meantime, just know, I'll be here.” Jaclyn Quinn's wonderful "Haven's Cove" trilogy is one of my favorite "discoveries" this year. This one, book three in the series, is gym owner Jonah Taylor and finance expert, Cameron Vaughn's story. If you're familiar with this series, then you'll recognize Jonah and remember his encounters with Cameron while he was still working as a trainer...before opening his own place in town. It's not one of my favorite things; but there is a lot of angst that intermingles with a lot of romance and sex, in this one...and it lost the story half a star in the rating. It does however do an excellent job of highlighting the importance of the "family" that you create for your own self, and how acceptance is, unfortunately, not a "given" commodity, even when it concerns those who you love and are the closest to you.
Cameron arrives at Jonah Taylor's new gym for the grand opening. Jonah didn't think he'd see the shy man again, but then Cameron shows up with a gift certificate from his brother and sister-in-law for a three-month membership and some "one-on-one" time with...guess who!! Yelp...none other than Jonah himself! As the two begin to form a friendship, Jonah realizes that there's a lot more to Cameron than just being "shy". There are things that he has experienced that has shaped him into the man that he's become...-things that have affected not just but him but also his entire family. He's confused and he's worried about whether or not he's ready to accept who he really is, and above all... if his parents will. Cameron is accustomed to running, but will he be able to run from that one man...the one who accepts him...as he is...with dark past and all without a single question...reservation or hesitation?
The three stories in this series takes on some heavy subjects but never just for the drama. This book does come with a trigger warning...sexual abuse of a minor...which I included at the beginning and again here, in order to give possible future readers a heads-up. If this type of topic is acceptable to you then I hope that you'll give this book...this trilogy... a chance as both Cameron and Jonah have a story that has them struggling to find their footing yet never making it feel as if there's no hope on the horizon for themselves as individuals or their relationship as a couple. Your heart will go out to Cameron for the confusion that was swirling within him with his head not being in sync with his heart, and the fear that was stopping him from being absolutely honest with himself. Jonah was just a really great, understanding and patient guy. If there was one character in this entire trilogy that I had been hoping would get his happily-ever-after, it was Cameron. If you are going to read this trilogy, it is best to read it in order.
Hard to Hold is the third book in the Haven’s Cove series, and it is far and away my favorite of this series so far. I was absolutely smitten with Cameron, wanting to protect him and make sure he got his happy ending every page of the way. It was devastating to read about what happened in his past, and while what happened is responsible for his shy, introverted personality it comes across as kind of sweet at first…until you realize the reason behind it which is when my heart broke for him.
Jonah is a wonderful man, always aware of what others need, and he is amazing with Cam. I really liked that things didn’t move too fast with them, and that Jonah went at whatever pace Cam needed to go. He’s everything Cam needs, and Cam can be fully comfortable and be himself with Jonah as well. Jonah plays a huge role in Cam’s character’s growth in this story, and as Cam’s character grew into himself, I was so damn proud of him.
There are some fantastic supporting characters with the guys from the first two books, but also with Cam’s family. His brother and his brother’s wife in particular were so supportive of him, and I liked how they were trying to help push him in the right direction. I was also glad how his father stepped up…his mother though—she’s one of those “I know best” moms to whom you just want to give more than a piece of your mind. She really ticked me off in the worst way.
I was especially not at all fond of Ali’s character, particularly late in the story when she made Cam’s mom look almost like an angel in comparison. The part of the story that concerns Ali at that late point really irked me, which as much as it pissed me off I also give kudos to the author for being able to elicit such a wide range of emotions from me during this story.
Hard to Hold deserves more than the 5 stars I’m giving it, and I’m even more excited now for the rest of the books to come in this series. I can’t wait to see if Ms. Quinn can top this one! I highly recommend this book to every M/M romance fan, and while you could read this as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of all the characters you’ll find here—all three books so far have been 5 star reads for me, and are all definitely re-read material. This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language, sexual content, and you’ll want to check out the trigger warning in the front of the book before reading as there is sensitive subject matter from Cam’s past covered (which the author handles quite well in this story).
A shy finance guy and a gym rat. One hates his job. While the other is looking to be a business owner. Boy oh boy did they have me tied in knots. I screamed, cried, and yelled into this storm of emotions.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this book and these men. Everyone who knows my reading habits know that I don't read much MM stories. And that is why I'm soooo glad I took a "chance" with this author. Her ability to write AMAZING stories is undeniable. And with this book it's official - I'M HER NO.1 FAN 💜
Now back to the book - I was so excited to see how Jonah will get his HEA. Cameron and his shyness were perfect for "savoir" Jonah. I loved him before but good God watching and reading how he help Cameron get back control over his life was something else. And I love that Gabe was the voice of reason😉 And talk about hot and sexy - the mirror scene?!?My hubby sends his thanks 😛😂
If you haven't meet or head about Jaclyn Quinn you NEED to change that ASAP. She is a star in the making and will go on to do a great things in the book world...you mark my words.

I enjoyed this series overall. This story was good even though it got a bit soapy near the end. I loved Cam and Jonah, I love that Gabe has become the voice of reason for the group. Cam has been severely traumatized and is working hard to overcome it. Ali was awful, and Cam's mother was truly awful even if she tried to redeem herself in the end.
I raced through this series so I'll definitely be checking out more of the author's books.
The ex-boyfriend of Owen, who you just couldn’t help love. More best friends than anything, he was respectable and so understanding when his boyfriend had feelings for someone else. It hadn’t been working for them for a while, but still… it had to be tough. I admired the way he loved Owen enough to want to see him happy, even if it wasn’t with him. And he deserves to be happy too. So… already, I loved Jonah. Side note… I loved his giant, deep voiced brother Zachariah as well, and I hope to be seeing more of him in the future… just throwing that out there
So, in this one… we of course know, Jonah.. if you don’t, I strongly urge you to go back and read the other two in this series, because…those guys are just as amazing. It’s a year later and with help from Gabe, he’d opened his own gym. He’s struggling, because of course opening your own business is a lot of work, especially when doing it on your own…but he’s happy. He’s always been of a mind that whatever you want in life, you can have it, as long as you work for it. So, that’s what he’s done.
Cameron… how to describe Cameron. Lost. Numb. Scared. Shy. Confused. Don’t get me wrong, he has justifiable reason to keep himself sheltered, but he doesn’t want to.. He’s tired of living life on everyone else’s terms, listening to people tell him who he should be and what he should want; and his brother and sister-in-law know that he’s hiding from who he really is because he’s been told his whole life that he’s different than what he really is. He finally starts questioning that when he meets Jonah.
It’s a slow-going read, sometimes too slow for me, but only because I wanted so much for Cameron. It was exactly what he needed though, and I adored Jonah for letting things happen naturally. Jonah is endlessly patient and so understanding, I truly believe he would’ve waited for Cameron forever had he needed to.
A childhood trauma and extremely overbearing parents caused Cameron to be confused about his sexuality and the things he was capable of in life; but with a small push from his brother and a three-month trial at Jonah gym… Cameron slowly comes out of his shell. Not only comes out of his shell, but he also starts a friendship with Jonah, which of course turns into more.
It’s hard, especially with Cameron’s mother thinking she still knows what’s best for Cameron… my goodness that woman, I’d have liked to have smacked her a time or two, and the therapist that went behind Cam’s back to tell her things ILLEGALLY… I wish he’d have gotten his karmic smack down, but sadly that didn’t happen….but eventually, the more he felt comfortable with Jonah, and the more he opened himself up to the possibility of things that actually made him happy… the more he let himself live.
I was rooting for them from the very beginning, and I knew it would be worth it. I’m loving the way that everyone is progressing forward with the guys and their families. I truly can’t wait to read more.. I’m really crossing my fingers that Zach is next!
What an awesome addition to a really great series. 4 stars from me!
I have fallen in love with every man in this series. Holy crap. I mean ALL of them. And this book made it even better. When I first 'met’ all these guys, it was a crazy whirlwind. I didn't know which way I wanted which guy to go, lol, but they did. And they knew best.
Jonah has been half in love with this adorably sexy Auburn haired man since he first walked in to Jonah’s gym. Well the gym he recently worked at. Now that he has his own, he was afraid he would never see Cameron again. But joy of joys, he came for the grand opening, and now he's back with a 3 month subscription. Yay for Jonah! But Cameron is painfully shy and awkward and runs at the slightest thing. But through patience and kindness, Jonah gets Cameron to start breaking out of his shell. And when Cameron opens up, Jonah gets the shock of his life. He never imagined the past that Cameron has had to go through, that has made him the closed off, shy person he is. But when Cameron gives Jonah the ok for them to try, Jonah is determined to make sure that Cameron never regrets a second of it. He only hopes he can be what Cameron wants and needs, because Cameron is all Jonah wants for the rest of his life.
In the first book, when Owen and Jonah broke up, (sorry if that's a spoiler...go read it if you haven't!) and Owen found his happiness, I was heartbroken for Jonah. Yes, it was a mutual break up but still. Jonah wanted the happiness all his friends were getting. He was so lonely and trying to hold it together, but everyone was noticing. But how did he get through to Cameron? And Cameron….that poor sweet man. So painfully shy and nervous. Terrified really. But Cameron is so brave. He doesn't feel like it. But little by little he is taking back his life. He was robbed of it in a bad way and since meeting Jonah, he feels like he has more to live for now. And he stands up for himself. He begins to live his life the way it's meant to be lived. Man, I was alternating between being so proud and bawling my eyes out. You’ll see. I was so happy for these two. Yeah they have a hell of a lot to overcome, but both are finally happy. And having Cameron be Cameron made it all worthwhile.
This book and series are exceptional. I have loved every second and every page. I so recommend it to you guys. You will be so happy!
From the full review: " Hard to Hold by Jaclyn Quinn is another heartwarming contemporary romance in the Haven's Cove series. The third story centers around Jonah Taylor and Cameron Vaughn. Jonah has been in the first two stories. He was Owen's fiance', although they were breaking up on good terms when Brody returned to town. And he was instrumental in helping Gabe and Nate find their HEA, hence the title "Jonah the Savior". But while all his friends around him are finding their partners and HEA, where is Jonah's?"
I loved first 2 in series and the spin off romances about Jonah's brothers. This one was just okay for me. Cameron was a tough character to connect with due to his social anxiety. It seemed their initial bond was forged out of loneliness and maybe a vague attraction but not so much chemistry. Cameron certainly had a traumatic past so no judgement... But Cameron did feel a bit like a consolation prize for Jonah. Jonah found love but had to really work for it...I would have loved seeing Jonah more the center of someone's world. It got there in the end.
What a lovely believable couple. Both of them were looking for love a connection someone to be their forever. Cameron with his issues is so shy. He just people to stop making decisions for him. He wants to build up confidence and you are just routing for him Jonah wants the kind of love his friends has. He has his eyes on the shy guy he is trying to help. I invested on them finding each other. Seeing Cameron finally going for what he wants you just want to cheer for him and for them. Lovely series . Totally enjoyable.
Jonah just isn’t a realistic human being. No one is this gentle and understanding and mind-reading to all his friends. But whatever, that’s what books are for sometimes :)

If you haven't meet or head about Jaclyn Quinn you NEED to change that ASAP. She is a star in the making and will go on to do a great things in the book world...you mark my words.
The middle portion of this book was pretty good. Unfortunately, the beginning and end didn't really work for me.
The build up was kinda frustrating with Cameron trying to make things with Ali work. Then there was the 3rd act drama towards the end that I saw coming a mile away. It was a bit ridiculous.
I liked both Jonah and Cameron as characters but they just made some silly decisions along the way that annoyed me a bit. Overall I didn't hate this it was just...fine.
Hard to Hold is book 3 in the Haven's Cove series and my first Jaclyn Quinn book ever, so yes, even if the couples/recurring characters from the previous installments are featured here, you can read it as a standalone. I suspect it might be best if you read the series in order, though.
Jonah was lovely, reliable, supporting and so very lonely. It was nice seeing him interact with his friends and family, and yet kind of sad knowing how much he wanted to find love. Cameron was great, too. He started out shy and introverted, but once he started opening up to Jonah, the change in him was amazing. Learning what he'd gone through when he was still a child was heartbreaking, especially since his parents and the first therapist he saw didn't help matters all that much.
This was pretty much a slow burn, seeing as neither Jonah nor Cameron was sure if the other was gay, and then Cameron was dating Ali. The progression of their relationship from acquaintances to tentative friends to friends and finally lovers was natural and organic. Jonah was patient and sweet with Cameron, giving Cam the support that his own parents didn't provide him with.
I loved Jonah's close-knit group of friends, they were an integral part of the story without overtaking it and helped move the plot along, especially Gabe, who was fabulous!
I didn't like Ali, she came on too strong from the start and then when the whole thing blew up, she was happy to throw Cam under the bus. I don't really care if she ultimately changed her mind, I couldn't even feel sorry for her. I didn't like Cam's mom during most of the book, but at least her change of heart and her motives to act like she did were reasonable, so while I wasn't all that fond of her, I didn't dislike her any longer by the end of the book.
Overall, this was a great read, entertaining, fun and engaging and I definitely will be reading the previous books in the series as soon as possible, as well as the future ones. Recommendable!

I liked this story. I could have loved it but the forced redemption of shitty characters did not do it for me.
Cameron has suffered trauma as a young boy. As a result of that he has social and intimacy issues. However, when he went to see a therapist about his trauma and confront his own sexuality, the therapist connected his lack of sexual interest in women to his past trauma. That can be common in people who have experienced similar trauma, but when he told his therapist about his sexual attraction to males, the therapist conspired with Cameron’s parents to pressure him to continue to date women. Because the “therapist” made Cameron believe that his sexuality was compromised because of his assault. This is essentially an aspect of conversion therapy. That is what that is. They forced and pressured him to date women because being gay was not an option. Not to mention the additional betrayal his mother and therapist acted out
Now, I loved the story up until it shifted to Cameron’s parents being redeemed for their complicity of that atrocious action. I did not buy his parents plea for forgiveness. Nah. That was all bullshit to me. It actually detracted from the story for me because of that.
Yes, Cameron and Jonah are a loving couple and I enjoyed their story. I just wish Cameron’s story was not sacrificed for the sake of his shitty parents.
Also, no resolution whatsoever for that abominable “therapist”.
When you see the twist in a story coming from a mile away, that’s the moment that you know this story isn’t going to be what you hoped it would be. I loved the first two in this series and I also loved Cam and Jonah when their story started out (even if was slow going at times). But with all the . I'm hoping this was just a blip on an otherwise good series so I’ll reserve judgment on it until after the next book.
Another great add to the series. Finally Jonah gets his man, the wait for his story was worth it. I loved Jonah from book 1 and this sweet sexy man needed the perfect person to fit him. Enter in Cameron who is shy, deeply emotional person who wants more out of life; not just existing. This book definitely deals with some heavy topics, you feel for Cam and what he goes through. Their longing looks turn to hot chemistry with a connection they both need. Loved seeing the huge amazing family of Jonah's and I hope we see more of them soon in future books. Add in your past favorite characters and this is exactly what Haven's Cove is all about. Can't wait for the next.
Hard to Hold (Haven’s Cove #3) by Jaclyn Quinn is a wonderful addition to the series. Cam and Jonah’s story is sweet and emotional. Jaclyn’s sense of humor shines through as well as her always well written, panty melting love scenes. As a relatively new author, I think Jaclyn has no doubt proved she has the writing chops. I love the little family she has created, and I’m anxiously awaiting the next story.
I absolutely love the Haven's Cove series, and I could not wait for Jonah's story. He is such an amazing man and a great character: strong, supportive, intelligent, driven, loving, giving, and so genuinely kind with a heart of pure gold. Unless you hurt his friends, of course, which just makes me love him even more. I need to find me a Jonah. Wait, I'm getting off topic.. Anywayyy, if you couldn't tell, I have completely adored him from the first time we met him in Hard to Let Go, and I have been cheering for him to get his happy ending ever since. Enter Cameron, at first glance a shy and skittish man whose story broke my heart over and over again while reading this book, but if anyone is patient and caring enough to slowly and systematically break down Cam's wall of defenses while helping him to see just how strong and wonderful he truly is, it is Jonah. Jonah is smitten from the start, but Cam is confused and unsure of what he wants (understandably so), and the slow build-up of their relationship is realistic considering Cam's past. I love how well these two men fit together. They are sweet and sexy and, well, freaking adorable TBH. Add in some meddling parents, fantastic friends, and the small-town setting, and Hard to Hold is an undeniably compelling and emotional story that tugs at the heartstrings... though I did wish I could reach into my kindle and throttle some people (who shall remain unnamed in this review) SEVERAL times.
I was excited to catch up with Owen and Brody, as well as Gabe, Nate, and Lily, in this book as well, and really enjoyed getting to know Jonah's family. I can't wait for Zachariah and Elijah to find their own HEAs, too! I already miss Haven's Cove and really hope we get to go back and visit in future books from Jaclyn Quinn. While Hard to Hold could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend starting at the beginning with book 1. I hope you love these characters as much as I have come to.
Absolutely amazing, this series just keeps getting better!!!
Wow!!! Just out of this world amazing!!! I can honestly hand on heart and say this is “The Best” series I have read.. in a very long time With each book I read I think wow best book ever... how can the next book come close to being that awesome, but damn they just keep getting better
