Inspired by the incredible true events that reshaped the Middle East, comic strip writer Tarek Shahin employs his signature four-panel style to tell a thrilling story of war, peace and redemption.
I really like this graphic novel. The art and writing we’re both good. If I had any criticism it would be that the story seemed to jump a lot, and was a little hard to follow at times. Even saying that, I felt the author gave a good overview of the history of this time from his point of view. I will look for more of his work.
I thought I knew my middle eastern history, but this graphic novel lost me. I was confused by repeated pages. I don't know if they were intentional or not. Unless you are VERY familiar with the content included, you will be pretty lost, like I was.
I enjoyed the story, but it took me some time to immerse myself in it, being unfamiliar with the culture and the events described. I ended up reading a couple of Wikipedia articles and then returning to the story with a better understanding.
